Infinity General: Fireteam Duo edition

Infinity is a 28mm scale skirmish game by Corvus Belli where if you're not link spamming, you're not trying. Also, your ugly cheerleaders never will get resculpts.

Wow... Throwing 40 dice sounds boring. You're never going to get a lone line infantry taking out a tag(I think they're called dreadnaughts) when it's ballanced around that many dice. I don't like burst 5 weapons, they're too reliable for this reason, 5% chance to crit on each too, but I guess I also hate the idea of dividing through firing lines.

"My dudes are literally a millimeter behind one another, don't peek out your base a millimeter to only face one...". Anyone else get frustrated by this, it's like you can only get to ARO with two models if one is in hidden deployment.

Shikami when?

Konstantinos. Just don't. He's strictly worse when not infiltrating.

Guardsmen are not there to kill dreadnoughts with lasguns though, they are there to survive until last turn or mop up what hasn't been pounded by artillery, tanks or mortars.
Imperial Guard can do many things, but subtely is not one of them.

When you actually properly draw line of fire, doing what you describe is incredibly difficult. This is where move as intended becomes a big cause for arguments

It does feel kind of game-y, but I've gotten over it. Even if your opponent is going to slice the pie and murder those two cheerleaders in his turn, he's still basically wasting some of that movement in his orders to move 'just in the right spot where I can see 1 but not 2', and then moving a millimeter over during the next order to 'see 2 while still having cover'. Sure those two guys are probably dead, but you're still doing tangible damage to your enemy's active turn.

>My dudes are literally a millimeter behind one another, don't peek out your base a millimeter to only face one...

As long as people aren't pre-measuring while doing this, I don't have a problem with it. It's a skill picked up by experienced players, and very effective when you get consistant with using it.

They might get resculpts

I used to, but now I just see it as making him spend multiple orders...and make sure when I ARO I have good range/camo/supressive/TR fire so I have a good chance on winning/making him spend multiple orders.

I prefer all my troops to be able to step up and take an active role if necessary. Having a lone Moderator put the last wound on an avatar was an amazing moment.

Guardsman #237 surviving till turn 6...not so much.

Part of the reason I sold my 40k guard lol.

Thorakites get Feuerbachs and HMGs now

Quick question:

I was looking at the Bashi Bazouks, and I was wondering how Holo L2 works with Parachutist? Do they walk on with 2 holoechoes, or do they have to spend an order to generate them after they walk on?

linking for some help

They'll walk on with 2 holoechoes I believe, same as the initial deployment for any other H2 trooper. Haqq has soooo many holo echoes now eesh.

Balor Brown, Karak Stone, Elysian Green, with Agrax Earthshade as a wash?

Seems about right.

Speaking of which, I'm set on trying a 3 link list similar to this, anyone got any suggestions for it?

I'm wondering if Drakios makes sense with Ajax anchoring the Myrmidons, I originally had Eudoros there so I wanted to clear out MSV for him to be scarier, but now I'm not so sure.

I'm also wondering if it makes sense to have the HMG in Thrasymedes' link which is meant to push up the board while Alke's stays back, but then I also question the value of the HMG when I'm already paying 1.5 SWC for Alke's Spitfire, maybe I just drop the HMG altogether and use the SWC elsewhere or I make it a second Feuerbach so I've got 2 to use as ARO pieces.

They walk on with 2 holoechoes, there actually used to be a FAQ specifically saying this (it's still on the holoprojector wiki page), and nothing has changed it the rule that would indicate otherwise.

thanks for the info.

One problem with the new Thorakitai weapons is that there's no long ranged character to lead them. You can take as many HMGs, feuerbachs and marksman rifles as you like, but you still have to saddle them with a spitfire or LRL.

>you still have to saddle them with a spitfire or LRL

>implying thats a bad thing in a link. both those weapons cover range bands hmg, feuerbach, and smg dont

Yeah, I hate having to take that Spitfire on Alke, wish she had picked up a Multi Rifle profile like Diomedes (because I'm willing to cop the points cost of the Multi Rifle I don't plan to use much if it lets me get out of spending SWC)

You can also link them with Hector, I guess. It is their only 0 SWC option for a link leader.

I made a new list.

7/7 1 dog per list. Primary units are the AP HMG Miniuteman and a five man link team lead by a Marauder. It has a few observers and a medic now. Thoughts?

I also snagged the US Ariadna box. So soon to start painting.

Saito Togan. Can't wait to field discount discount Kitsune.

Should I add something else to the katana sheath or just leave it at this?

Burst 2 EXP CCW on auto-succeeding dice is nothing to sneeze at.

I think it's fine the way it is, but maybe a vine pattern? I dunno.

Put all the Grunts in on group so you have reloads if one dies, 5 man bonus will be key. Go 10/4, as it is easier to move a few over with tokens once they die. The 4 man group should be 2 'trots, II Grunt and Maverick. Maverick usually only needs 4 orders to do stuff or die, and the fox trots van be recycled into group 1 turn 2 to do stuff. Turn 1 you will want to supercharge one or both wolves.

Do FTs have a minelayer profile?

No, it looks good. Don't make it too busy.

I think you want to keep the HMG but switch it out for the FO in Alkes group incase you draw designation or something.

Looks good though.

Tohaa player here why does everyone say my faction is OP?

Cheaper effective two-wounders and some neat items to put into multiple fireteams.

Personally I've never had complaints and the recent changes are welcome in my FLGS since the few Tohaa players are now playing more aggressively with their symbionts and such.

Won way too many games because they didn't want to lose their Gao-Rael.

>multiple fireteams
Kinda null with Haris and duo being handed out like corner store candy.

Tohaa has more freedom of what their teams are. I don't get the complaints over the prevalence of Haris and Duos now from Tohaa players.

not everyone plays a sectorial or will include evo bots in every list, user.

Returning Nomad player again with a revised list. The intention is to make it out of the models I've got, with tactics that I mostly understand (I've got N3, but learned the game in the tail end of N2.)

On an unrelated note, the pic is the intended colour scheme.

Could use advice, but if it's a workable list, I'll worry myself with painting from here on out

Probably the fire vulnerability of all but 3 units being removed. That new ruling still seems to me like it wasn't thought through. It would have been easy to keep the old rules for LI while the bigger guys get the newer rules and become more survivable. It would probably stop the Ectros from being totally fucked over by the Sukeul, too.

Being able to mix and match units in a link is pretty damn good.

>tfw can't paint minis :(

Why is the Sukeul being held to a much higher esteem than an Ectros? ML option? The Mimetism and Vet L1?

I'd give the Rudy a HMG and the Grenzer a missile launcher, to give you a long range active turn gun and some anti-TAG capability. then spend the points to upgrade that Zero to a forward observer.

That Wildcat is quite expensive for a decoy that isn't going to be doing much. I recommend removing him and putting something else in his place.

Both definitely pieces of advice I'm comfortable with.

Would another Zero work in the place of the Wildcat? I wasn't intending for it to be a decoy, but to fight. If it can't fight, might as well use it as an infiltrator, right?

Cause it's cheaper and does the same thing and isn't effected by the fire vunerability as much.

Mimetism, primarily. There's also the ML option, the specialist Lt option, the lack of vulnerability to fire or hacking, cheapness, and nice extra shit like stealth and veteran.
Ectros aren't totally inferior. They can dodge and they've got 3 wounds on a good day, but a Sukeul is still 10 points cheaper and mimetism means they are a lot less likely to need 3 wounds.

Sounds like a solid idea to me. The main problem with Wildcats is that they work best in the midfield but they're also slow to get there. They're best used in a link team.

>yfw ice losers
>tfw glorious CB tricks them and instead adds glorious Varuna

Done and done. I guess I can figure out an E/Mauler or another Observer later.

And both have 360 visors, which only low range thorakitais have now. And thras is a specialist troop and has an ODD, which make him interesting option for a "budget Phoenix".

It's a possibility. They've both got fuckall units.
Glorious Yu Jing is far more prepared for both of its future sectorials while PanO once again demonstrates its stupidity and lack of planning.

Well, it's Nisse, Hospitalers and Jotumn vs Fusiliers, Croc men, Kamaus and Cutters. Though the latters are in more dire need of Resculpt.

Another question:

I play FRRM and I was wondering what was better: Wardrivers or an Aguacil? I was mainly planning on using them to help boost my Traktor muls and objective grabbing, if that helps.

Aggy, less SWC, and less situational gun. Unless you really like boarding shotguns i guess

fair enough. Just thinking that the 6th sense and the defensive hacking device would do more for the remotes. I don't know much about the hacking rules.

Defensive hacking devices are only really good when the hacker themselves is being hacked. The only programs they have that apply to someone not hacking them are programs that hack guided missiles, and AD L3 troops

Fair enough. I have an Aguacil from Icestorm so I can just say he's a hacker.

Get some of those cheap GW snapfits and practice on them. That's what I do.

Theyre metal minis so you can always strip them and try again until youre happy

Ok had a few first games with my ASS. Lost bad everytime, but am new so it is normal. But it would be nice to get some tips. My first 2-3 games were rather close, lost them on scenarios[no FO/specialists to actualy do missions], but learned a lot from them. Right now am mostly facing armies with 1-2 snipers that ignore ODD.

This is my list right now.
Thorakites combi
Thorakites LRL
Alke
Myrmidon Chain
Myrmidon Chain
Machaon Lt
Yudbot
2xNetrod

How do I counter snipers with it?

Those snipers probably have MSV2. Machaon has Eclipse Grenades which is just like Smoke, but NO LoF can be drawn through it including MSV2 and 3. If Machaon is linked, he can send 2 of those templates out to block the Sniper, so you can make your way up the board. Also get Alke into optimum range. Her Spitfire at Burst 5 is almost guaranteed to waste any B1 Sniper. You just need her to get up field and in good range bands.

I also see you have a Yudbot bot in the list. Remember that if the Servant bot is Synch's to Machaon, he can't link with the Mymirdons or Coordinate Order.

Has anyone here ever taken Diomedes? Also, is the HMG Garuda worth it?

oy good call on the bot. I was cheating then. I will try to use alke better.

Considering the yudbot be kind of a counter productive, what could I replace him with a third net rod?

Those snipers have MSV, probably MSV level 2. MSV units are the bane of Myrmidons since they ignore ODD and the higher levels even ignore smoke. Luckily you have Machaon, and he's got smoke grenades that MSV can't see through. Throw down them while you advance and use your other units to fuck up the MSV units as soon as possible.

You're really lacking long range guns. It's important to at least get one, even if you plan on rushing into the midfield with most of your army.

I don't take him often. but when I do, he always delivers. He's great for those turn 2 or 3 attack runs after the opponent has moved forward a bit, or going after rooftop snipers. You just need a good place to walk in or land.

Steel Phalanx can only has AVA2 of Netrods. How many points are you playing?

You can't. They're AVA2 in ASS. What points are you playing at, anyway? Your list adds up to 135.

I have trouble using the mobile version army builder correctly.
Groups are normally created to show fireteams etc, right?

How do I start shoving dudes into a new group?

I created a second but it just keeps adding to the first while the seconds symbol is still red.

150. but as a house rule everyone who plays vs aleph or ariadna in the noob tournament gets 20 less points. Do not ask me why, not my decision.

Probably because those factions are seen as OP. Which is funny, considering they're polar opposites.
But there's no need to handicap them like that.

Christ, what a massive amount of faggotry

That's utterly ridiculous. That's the stage at which I'd be looking for a new place to play. Penalising people for no reason other than they play a certain faction is just stupid, regardless of how OP or not that faction may be.

What surprises me the most is how popular Ariadna is, while I am pretty sure ALEPH is one of the least played factions with Tohaa and Haqqislam.

20 points? At 150 points that's pretty much breaking your fucking kneecaps. I wouldn't learn the game from whoever organized this event, they evidently have no clue what they're doing.

I thought combined army is least played.

Two aleph armies in the top ten recently.

Oh, I will not argue their strengh, ALEPH is indeed a powerhouse now, but if I had to take a guess, there aren't actually that many players who play ALEPH.
Although that might change in the near future.

Why?

N3 shenanigans?

ALEPH was already a very competent faction before N3. Now, they got some new toys that make them really scary. Mostly because alot of their base units got more choices, and some stuff like the new Feuerbach in a Link team will surprise alot of players.

Boltfag from yesterday. How do you decided on a colour scheme?

Does highlighted black/dark grey armour with lighter grey clothes, brown bags, straps and holsters and earth washed then highlighted guns with wood furniture and finally white masks and possibly white and/or red markings here and there sound like it might work? Would wood furniture and leather bags clash too much with the infinity feel for a group like Neoterrans? Maybe I'll throw in a miss matched set of grey jacket/pants with flektarn jacket/pants here and there.

Or I considered a mix of Vietnam war tiger stripe camo and olive drap, as well as at last one of them having his spitfire or missile launcher painted like a tiger.

Or I have considered going with them being space Aussies and paint their guns like the fancy new modernized augs like pic, with matching colours for the rest of the model.

Or something dusty and desert like, possibly with desert storm 90s desert camo, the one with the little black and white dots.

Or fuck all this and do something really colourful.

>Tfw guns named after Philosophers.

I also think they look pretty rad ...mini and rules wise.

Hard to play due to low mini and order count, but mostly every dude is hard as nails.

Robits are fun.

Personally can"t decide between onyx task force around a unidrone link with a hacking nexus agent and maybe a xeodron harris or a Hector lead steel phalanx slap squad.

I like the elite feel both have.

I like the Onyx's Borg/Terminator vibe, but greek robo mazrix guys are such a cool idea as well...

All sounds cool,man.

I would try to mix in some hightech looking stuff, like geometric digital camouflage stuff or some ceramic ele, ents in cool colours.

Preach to the choir, brother.

I sbould be happy that my biggest problem right now is what kind of miniature spess me to throw my money at.

Hell, I'm considering just going full ALEPH instead of ASS, even though I actually wanted to branch out a bit with Haqqislam...
Send help.

Do you know if your group is run by an actual warcor? Where are you based?

That is why i love my Bashi Bazouks.
Gotta love the Holos

They should add a more mechs aleph range.

Also a killer droid sectorial for CA!

Had fun slapping my Yu Jing friend around with this list yesterday.
I have an uncanny amount of luck when it comes to getting first turn, so i thought it'd be fun to make a list based around being right up in his face and locking him in his deployment zone for a turn or two.

Was alot of fun for both of us, and he's bringing a TAG next time. Better get my Feuerbach Azra'il painted up

Um, how do you move people into the second group in the army builder?

After I click new group stuff just keeps getting sorted into the first.

It does it automatically for me when i go over the 10 Order per group.
Also think you can just drag the units listed around with your mouse.

How have the 4 Naffatûn worked out for you? I can see 4 flamethrowers being a scary thing.
Did I just hear an Ariadna cry?

Using the mobile version, apparently no mouse action here.

Groups just help organise things and have no real game changing imporzance, do they?

Also, thanks for helping me.

How is the big haqqislam spider tank?

Drag them using the dotted section on each unit entry

Oooh, I feel stupid....I thought that was a borked graphic element.

Thank you a lot.

>mfw playing against QK
>mfw 12 Bashi Bazouks suddenly drop in from the side of the board
>mfw I left my Bao troops at home
And to think I dismissed BMVs as useless.

Groups are important. You can't share orders between them. And as for the mobile version, I think there's something to the left of each unit that allows you to drag it.

Like the desktop and browser versions, a new group is automatically made when you go over 10. To move your units around, go to the list view and press/drag the dotted grid to the left of the unit entry.

>Combat Group importance
Combat Group do have a major importance because they cannot share orders. Groups are limited to 10 units and there are many rules that involve groups: all fireteam member must be in the same group, synch'd models have to be in the same group, coordinated model must be from the same group, etc etc etc

>How is the big haqqislam spider tank?
It's S8. The model itself is significantly larger than any other TAG

Also I think I have a problem....

I used to also own Geckos, an Avatar, and a Cutter all of which has new homes now.

It looks amazinh, probahly shreds stuff.

But the Avatar is still the biggest boy, right?

They work very well, mostly as cheerleaders and to lock down area around an objectives/lieutenant since we play on very dense terrain.
Glad we have nice anons to help.
And the spider tank is really damn big is all i can say, dont own myself since i dont like what the spider tank provides.
Haven't tried playing as QK, but oh my lord 12 bashi bazouks sounds like my wet dream.... i need to get more holo markers and try it out.
That's sexy.

How did they get away?

What happened to the Geckos, Avatar and Cutter? How are you supposed to complete your TAG collection now?

I have a sudden urge to do a tag-only royal rumble.

The geckos, avatar, and cutter? I sold them. Thinking of doing the same for some of my Tohaa
