How does Veeky Forums like its Kataphrons? grav, haywire, plasma or torsion?

Xth for the Dark Gods

CS possessed lack absolutely any kind of bite, so while they're slightly more likely to get into melee (And even that's not guaranteed), they also have a tendency to do things like lose melee against a mob of shoota boys that they charged.

500 points for a 6-man grav unit with flamers plus a Dominus with the IWND relic.

What is the best AA in the game?

>40k CSM Posessed will never be as good as 30k Gal Vorbak.

GW, plz.

As a new IG player I have been thinking about getting some Scions and with this new box even more so.

Does anyone play them with their IG?

I think some specialists showing up and taking side objectives would be pretty cool.

Right now I have 20 Vets in 2 Chimeras, a Tank Commander with friend both Demolishers (though I think I want to try different variants), a Basilisk and 2 Wyvern.

It sits just about 1000 points total

Ork's Traktor Kannon.

phew, not doing anything by halfs! is this from the logic that grav is good, so more grav is gooder?

i was thinking going 3 haywire and 3 grav,to allow me to engage both tanks and wraithknights

Either
Or a tricked out Onager.

mortis contemptor with K. ass cannons and cyclone ML

It's possible if somewhat unlikely. Like said the Space Marines did their own thing at the time. Vandire was sort of popular when he removed the old corrupt Ecclesiarch, so they could have supported him in the beginning. They could believe that Vandire was a great ruler that was demonized by his enemies (which is certainly possible), or they still follow the Tendency's version of the creed and no one bothered to correct them.

There would be very easy way to fix possesed:

>WS4 BS4 S5 T4 W2 I5 A2 LD10 Sv3+/5++

There. 2w and no point cost raise. Fearless T4/2w units with ++ are very annoying to get rid of if you arent spamming S8 and targeting them all at the unit.

Would it make them OP? No. Would it make them quite decent and worth the points? Absolutely

>40k possessed will never be as good as 30k gal vorbak

>wulfen are both better and cheaper

Even then, they're kind of bad. They pack as much punch as furious charge raptors without the HoW, and unlike Raptors have no way of getting any AP or shooting.

Do you mean fluff, visuals, rules or all three?

Also, if the eventual CSM update makes Possessed great, it would be pretty funny if the Crimson Slaughter formations retroactively became awesome. Same with Chosen and BL

6 grav will demolish a Land Raider or Knight with significant overkill.

No access to special or power weapons? That sucks and Gal Vorbak would still be better.

>Wulfen will never be as good as DC
>DC are both better and cheaper

>russ
>vindicator
>riptide
>missile lauchers

naa, t4 3+2w is still bad. T5, 2 would be a start. a START

I've used my scions beside a list similar to that. It works well and has good synergy when they run around with the vets.

I'm hype to see what the rules are for this new scion box, respawning troopers is silly but I'm hoping they get objective secured as a formation bonus

>DC are both better and cheaper

i think you meme'd yourself a little too hard there user

Pretty sure Deredeo with Anvilus Autocannons and missile launchers is better. Best AA is a squad of Grav Devs with Prescience, though.

humm, according to my maths (6*6*1/2*1/6), 6 gravs will, on average, strip 3 HP off a tank. dosent seem the best, when 3 haywire lads will do the same

>DC have 4 attacks, 2W, buff units around them, and attack twice if they're killed

>People tell me Grav goes great against armor
>Better than Melta they say

I don't understand how? Am I suppose to waste all the grav on the field (6 grav guns total, including hte combis) on one unit?

They work great on TEQ and most Creatures but the most useful thing my grav does against armor is immobilize it.

Its 12 str 6 rending vs 4 str 8 sunder (main guns), and then 2 str 8 vs 3 str 6 (missiles). CBA to do the maths, but they look kinda the same

I didn't even consider that I could just use the formation alongside my IG CAD.

Now I am curious.

How do those do when scaled down to 35 points?

what do you mean

Gal Vorbak stats.

>Implying its better than a 12 point bs3 str 8 ap 3 shot that causes an immobilized result on a glance or pen that can be squadded in groups of 5 and can pay 3 points for a 1 use reroll per kannon
kek

grav is 100% great vs MC,GC, and most infantry. its bad vs all armour (see for 500 pts of grav vs armour)

How many hull points/explosion do they do per X amount of point.

The objective way to measure best AA

yeah, but then you have to play orks

eww

That's three pens, which is 5 hull points. Successful grav shots immobilize, additional immobilize results deal an extra hull point.

All three.

>Normal Russ
Crap nobody plays.
>Vindicator
Crap nobody plays.
>Missile Launchers
Crap nobody plays.

ps: go home Shiwan you suck.

oh shit its an immob. not a glacing. i am a dumb. shame knihts are immune to that sort of fun.

What makes them immune to it? Invincible Behemoth says nothing about immobilized.

They're not 50ppm.

>I dont want to learn, play and enjoy an army. I want to be spoonfed and get an army that just wins! ITC represent!

35 point mek, 2x 35 point grots, up to 15 traktor kannons.

cheap investment, you can park them in your rear and let your real army go forth and be useful.

How do you fruits equip your tac sergeants?

I'm seeing a lot of combi-flamers, melta bombs, and a few BAngels with dual hand flamers.

>nobody plays

W A T. Blood Angels players love Vindies cause it's S10 AP2 Blast with FAST. If they could combine into a squadron for super duper blast, even better.

I have my vets kitted for anti tank as my demolishers and artillery deal well enough with infantry. Should I probably kit the scions out with some meltas as well?

How are they in the assault phase? My vets seem to get bitch slapped by most marines.

Bonus Round: What variants of the Leman Russ are worth trying besides the Demolisher?

I keep the Tank Commander as the same tank as his buddy as I said

Narthecium and nothing else. Ujelly, codexfags?

>Combi-whatever the Spec Weapon is
>Melta Bombs only if the spec weap is melta and even then usually just to get rid of points

I am looking into a LBSF and am probably going to run 6 units of minimalist tacs and just spread my obsec everywhere.

immune to everything that isnt explodes

has anyone ever died during an official warhammer game?

I been thnking of way to have a unique and original death, I should get a news blog about the occurrence here and there at least.

> wanting to play an army thats both boring and unoriginal

Just because they are bad, dosen't make them fun

Tells you something about how well its going for BA when Fast Vindicators are good thing for them.

If you can't see how automatic Immobilizing hits will fuck any non-superheavy vehicle's day, you need to find a less mentally taxing hobby.

Grav is king.

Can I get a page number for that? Invincible Behemoth on page 94 of the BRB just says D3 hull points instead of Explodes!, removed from play, etc, and immune to AV reduction. Or is it a Knight-specific thing?

Neither are vanilla Wulfen, bruv. They get all that at 30 ppm.

I mean I said it was useful and it is certainly helpful but multiple times I have hit my opponent with a full Salvo of 9 grav shots, took off a single hull point and/or immobilized it. For transports it is a really big thing but using on back field artillery is mostly just an annoyance for them.

6 Gravguns is enough to wreck a Land Raider in one turn. It's not as good against light armor or open topped vehicles, but it doesn't give a shit if your AV is 14 or 40.

>tfw been saving all my grav bits
I have like, 6 grav guns, 4 grav halves of combi weapons, 4 grav cannons etc...

I didn't know grav was good as I had no internet when I got into the hobby and went for plasma.

>Invincible Behemoth
Holy. Fuck. I missed that change! Thanks user

No problem. I expect to hear no complaining from you about superheavies being OP, though. Now get out there and alpha strike a Warhound with 400 points of Grav.

What all is required for a Knight House to function?

How feasible is it for a Knight World to defect to the Tau Empire and remain relatively well supplied (provided the Tau decided to let the traitor knight governor remain in charge of their planet

The torrent guy for the novels is down, what sources are you guys using? I want to read the new Beast Arises.

Inb4 giving GW money, the fucking jews.

I don't think Knight Houses produce their own knights so the Tau would have to make them, which I don't think they can do because techno-secrets.

While I am asking for help I figured I would post my list and see if I could get any critique.

The goal is for my artillery to sit in the back, tanks a bit further up and chimeras going forward.

Tank Commander (400pts)
Command Demolisher
>Camo Netting, Tank Commander
Demolisher
>Camo Netting

2x 10 Veterans (155pts per)
>Flak Armour for Squad, 6x Veteran w/ Lasgun, 3x Veteran w/ Meltagun
Chimera
>Heavy Bolter, Multi-laser

1 Basilisk Battery (125pts)

2 Wyvern Battery (80pts per)
Camo Netting

995/1000

My next step is 1250 so I will more than likely get that new Start Collecting Scions.

I still haven't read the first one.. Now I have to go look for a torrent.

Brand new to the game

what is the difference between chaos marines and daemons

Also trying to choose between Necron and tyranids

In the UK it is common to find stores where you have to pay to play, be that a monthly membership, or something else. Hell even paying just to get in the door
The best possible way to avoid doing this, because, the store employees and owner is there for business, not to suck anyones dick, they need to feed their families or themselves. Is to buy something from them anytime you come in to play, even if its something cheap, try to make some small purchase
Or, worse case scenario, because everyones going in to play and not pay for anything, the store can't afford their bills and goes out of business.
youtube.com/watch?v=lL5x0gkYgKQ
Most stores won't give a shit about where you get your stuff from, some do, and they make it clear don't talk about it. But those stores are few and far between. If someone asks me where i got my thing i'll either say "game workshop" or "ebay" let them figure it out from there
If you don't buy anything from your local store at all, why are you even there, it costs them money to even exist, you could at least pay them back with SOMETHING hell even a can of paint or something. See video above
also know whats up
A single computer and a warehouse is all you need to sell online. Hell only one or two people can handle hundreds of purchases
Compared to one or two employees who each gets paid local wages, they have to pay for their retail space, each can only handle one or two purchases at a time plus keeping extra lights on. Theres a lot of shit that goes into running a small business

Tau produce battlesuits. Not a stretch to imagine the Knight World's leader to allow the Empire a complete analysis and as time goes by they'd provide equivalent repair and replacement services.

Well they are both Chaos....

One is Marines the other are Daemons.

Did you not even try to find the difference?

Your army choice is your own but you are own opposite spectrum of competitiveness.

What I mean is, can't chaos marines already use daemons?

And so the armies I like suck?

So I noticed the Dark Eldar Raven is about to be discontinued, but FW have yet to release any updated stats for their fliers with the new DFTS rules. I'd hate to miss out on the model, but I'd also hate to purchase a paperweight that's no longer supported by future IA books or GW material. What should I do?

>What should I do?
Make up your mind

>Hell even paying just to get in the door

>Game stores with a cover charge

It's like you WANT the hobby to shrink.

Vanilla Russ is pretty good, if you treat it like an artillery piece.

But would it even function the same as one built by the Mechanicus?

Also, there may be components in one that that Tau cannot manufacture.

I know user....

As far as I know, some Tau battlesuits work with a neural interface like that jack in the Matrix. It would be one of the main reasons battlesuits are so agile, because they interface directly with a Tau brain. I remember there was a blurb about sometimes if a suit's arm gets ripped off, the pilot feels as if someone ripped off their own physical arm.

Even if that's not the case, I doubt it would be difficult to recreate or to make up a replacement. It's kindof like how great prosthetics work in real life. It'll never be flesh and bone, but it can be something almost as good and you'll make do just fine. In some cases (like foot attachments for mountain climbing) even better.

What new box do you speak of?

Just because the model is discontinued, does not mean the old rules are null and void. GW themselves have specifically said in their FAQ that models use the latest rules. So the Raven will use the current rules until it's updated.

FW also removed the Baracuda from sale, only to bring it back 4 months later or so as a new design.

>Tau Empire: The Phantom Pain

Start collecting.

Speaking of prosthetics do Eldar have those? Forgive me for asking but given Eldar tech I would assume that they wouldn't waste time making Smug Space Elf #8976 a wraithbone arm.

>Tau produce battlesuits.

Which aren't gigantic machines with their own personalities, to the point the personality of the machine can and will overpower the mind of the person piloting it, and require their pieces to be built in a specific manner with certain sanctifications in order to ensure they fit and work properly.

The Tau don't understand how Machine-Spirits work, and that has on more than one occasion bitten them in the ass. They can produce their own copies of Imperial tech, but the larger the scale the less "true" it is to the original design.

Most of the Heavy (ie. non- Ordnance) Russes are worthwhile, provided you kit them out right and have something for them to chew on.

Scions are about as dead as Vets in Assault. We're IG, our options to win assaults are a) Drown them in bodies, or b) Set up the fight so it ends in their assault phase and we can shoot them some. That said, Scions have done well for me by contesting backfield armor (w/ melta) and some campers (Artillery don't use the gun's T in CC, and can't shoot if they're locked...). It's the usual thing - they die the moment someone looks at them funny, but if you do them right they'll end up making their points back before then.

why wouldn't they? If anything they'd be more likely due to the whole dwindling race schtick. Everyone must be able to fight at full strength.

IIRC they just regrow it. They've got that capability.

True, but it'd be nice to know it'll have those extra stats. I'm working on a DE airforce.

>can't chaos marines already use daemons?
They can ally with daemons but it is two very separate armies.

Most armies can shit all over CSM definitely can not say the same for Daemons.

Yeah but Machine Spirits don't actually exist, not really. It's just "We don't understand this shit so let's light some incense and ask the DVD player to work. If it works, WILL OF GOD. If it doesn't, WILL OF GOD!"

>has a prosthetic fetish AND a space elf fetish

You just gave me so many conversion ideas, user.

youtube.com/watch?v=qHNtKj_q7EI

Start Collecting Scions it would make a good addition to my IG army.

Thanks

Nah, it is real. It is the fragmented mind of the Void Dragon, which is why Emps stuck it in a pit.

Does anyone know the name of the putty where in which you can create a shape by pressing a mini onto it, then let it solidify, press green stuff into it etc, which also returns back to a soft gel when you put it in hot water?
It sounds japanese, ooya-something.

If they can regrow it then why bother making arms out of Wraithbone when you can make more Wraiths out of it?
I don't know how to feel about this, but I'm going to assume it won't end badly.
Machine spirits are servitor brains with PTSD or used to be.

That's kind of true but there is definitely a real element to it: wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Machine_spirit

Basically, some machines DO have some sort of automatic systems/servitor-brain/pseudo-AI. These are what are worshipped as Machine Spirits, though some machines without them are said to have Machine Spirits.

...

I'm pretty sure the super-heavy ___ type makes you immune to all results but explodes, can't give you a page number but I've never seen it done your way.

Superheavy Vehicles just plaing ignore all results on damage chart unless it is Explodes!

>Way of the Eldar
