Land or Sea, /jc/?

Seaside Land.

SkyPirates, clearly it's the best choice.

Land, there are mountains and sheep

Burn the land, boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me.

Team Aqua all the way.

>Going with either team
Their plans are bad and they should feel bad.

Not as bad as Zinnia's.

Because her plan encapsulates both of theirs plus some other retarded shit about sabotaging any efforts to stop the meteor that don't involve her because of her hero complex.

True. But of the two, Aqua is clearly superior.

Space

Land, sea, I'm the guy with the trumpet.

...

I get that reference and I love it

Where'd you get that picture of young Captain Brutus?

You may as well ask how I end up with pictures of all the young tripfags and avatarfags.

Do you have a young Al**~* English?

Even me?!

>What happens if someone only gets the OOO driver, Ancient Driver, or Coin Flip and some Core Medals, or Greed is Good? Are they left powerless while others aren't? Would losing the Core Medals from Greed is Good kill you? Actually would that happen if you lose them normally?

Ah, I see what you mean.
I should probably specify that the only medals attracted by this are canon medals, so Greed is Good doesn't get fucked by this, as Greed is Good only gives you a Jumper medal combo
Ancient Driver also gives you a jumper medal, the only person who would be possibly fucked would be probably someone with only the OOO driver
But remember that you can get the purple medal combo in the DLC, and that might be downright beneficial for you as their greed-bane effects would be effective against the Mad King due to using almost all greed-based stuff!
I'll figure out how to do that, but for now, it might be best to invest in the purple medals if that build is the case
They combo nicely with all the other Core Medal treasures as well

>Implying you have pictures of me.

Man you must have been busy when we were younger.

Space.

While you're fielding Neo Hessei questions, since the Power Cosmic's most runs on friendship we're trying to come up with a way of using it without, you know. Resorting to drastic measures like being friendly or having friends.

Suppose you had a way of storing emotions as energy (Fear Tech, Monsters Inc), one of your companions is capable of manipulating friendship as an energy field (The Power of Friendship, Chroma Squad) and you have a knack for reverse engineering mass-energy conversion phenomena (Creative Composer, Ar Tonelico)

Suppose you then had a form of technology that interfaces with the human psyche (Psychonautics, Psychonauts), another form of technology that can extract brainwaves as a tangible energy field (Collective Brainwave Charger, Biomega), two forms of technology which involve mass-energy conversion with an exotic energy component that is modulated by a specific emotional mindset (Song Science, Ar Tonelico/Pagan Science, Symphogear) and a secondary form of technology that can add a dimensional component to the broadcast of sonic-based exotic energy transmissions (Touched by the Protoculture+Listen to my Voice!, Macross).

Then let's say you have both access to forms of psychic technology (Bonesinger/Tall and Narrow Gate, Eldar) and technology belonging to that same race capable of containing psychic emissions (Pre-Fall Science, Commoragh). To cap it all, suppose you have an adaptive form of infrastructure (City of Heaven, Lord of Light) and forms of technology which automatically assimilate, adapt and upgrade what they're exposed to (Karmatron Dynamics/Regenerator Nano, GUNNM and Orb Design Plans, Swat Kats and Defragmentation Device, Blame!)

(cont'd)

In short-if one created an extradimensional emotion storage/refinement facility and used an interdimensional door system to collect friendship energy from a populated area before transmitting it via Wraithbone/grathnode occult matrixes through the main facility, can you run Power Cosmic-based technology from friendship harvested from other people? Would there be a noticeable increase in the quality of the technology if said energy and the technology used to process it were to be refined several times into a higher quality form e.g. by altering it such that it has greater latent energy?

Or does it /absolutely/ require personal investment in the friendship to do all the mass-energy conversion properly?

You disgust me, and I hope Gentaro befriends the everliving fuck out of you.

Why don't you just get the other drop-in capstone and power them on something that isn't so antithetic to yourself you'd rather harvest it from another society than feel it yourself?

Water

I think he's got some subconscious self-destructive impulse resulting from self-loathing after Cosmic Fire left him. In truth, he wants to get shot into space then kicked down to Earth by a rocket drill. This is just his way of goading Gentaro into doing it. Shame that with all his perks he's likely to survive it, meaning that he's near certain to be befriended afterwards.

pastebin.com/E2hDaWZm

Noumenon update.

11 new room perks
Room perks will be 200 Each
Curses will only function within jump and serve to discount the perks they are attached to.
There will be no limit to the amount of Curses you can take but there will still be drawbacks.

We have it, actually. The main concern is a loss in power efficiency from running it on something it's not intrinsically designed for. We're just exploring all our options here before giving up and just firing up the thaumic fusion reactors or antimatter circuits or something. The despair engines sadly aren't going to cut it since that apparently makes the energy become self-destructive.

Not if we use the Path of Victory to figure out how to be the least befriendable person in the world to him specifically, he won't!

Get off the internet, Elodie.

>Not if we use the Path of Victory to figure out how to be the least befriendable person in the world to him specifically, he won't!

Path to Victory doesn't work on something with a 0% possibility rate.

I don't really need a picture of her. She's already here.

Of course.

You're the guy in the back.

>Or does it /absolutely/ require personal investment in the friendship to do all the mass-energy conversion properly?

yes

Kid Flash?
I'm not sure if I should be insulted or not.

No, behind him.

The joke.
Your head.

But that's implying there's a literally 0% rate for Gentaro to befriend us, when we are in a way the personification of every bad thing that has ever happened to his other friends-

>But that's implying there's a literally 0% rate for Gentaro to befriend us, when we are in a way the personification of every bad thing that has ever happened to his other friends-
You're not familiar with Kamen Rider Fourze, are you? This is a man who came back from the dead just so he could tell his murderer "Hey, it's okay, I know you had your reasons." And he somehow did this without invoking any Christ allusions. Gentaro can befriend literally anything. If he fights you, it will only be so that he can subdue you long enough to have a heart to heart conversation with you about how he thinks you're a great person who deserves happiness.

Progress report!

>Pic related is coming along quickly enough that I figured I'd ask - what are your plans for the place?
>Solus being destroyed/eaten/etc. by ANYONE is going to be a loss condition. There is a way to alleviate that, but it's bundled in with a +600 Drawback. No Companions, no pets, no summons, no sun-based powers, and no in-universe allies. Everyone but you is dead, Solus is gone, and the Varelsi are everywhere. Anything you had to avoid their hostility is effectively moot. And they're getting stronger every day. Have fun.

>Um, what's this setting about?
You're dead. The afterlife is made of crickets. That's as far as I could understand, reading the book.

>every day
>no stars left
Phew, lucky they're not getting any stronger or anything like that, if they were I might be in trouble.

Also, totes joining the plant people and going around 'planting my seed'... if-you-know-what-I-mean.

Seriously, gonna be growing a whole load of myself asexually. Gonna be an army of me!

Thanks, I try.

Sounds like my kind of setting. How's the protagonist?

It's an RPG setting, not a novel, so there's no protagonist.

That's not me, he has a nose. Here, let me help you.

>literal reading

Okay, I laughed. But seriously you might wanna keep an eye on those Skulks.

>spoiler

On the one hand, I'm half-tempted to clamp down on that to reinforce the whole 'alone in the dark' deal of the Drawback.

On the other hand, that is actually a rather clever workaround, and I'm getting a very fun mental image from it. Decisions, decisions.

>going Eldrid

Which puts you in the same faction as pic related.

You asked for this.

Serious answer then, will the drawback take away internal companions, like Symbiotes, Biju, Spirit's of Balance, and any other voices in my head?

After all this time I don't know what it'd be like to be the only voice rattling around up there.

I have not made a final decision on that yet, but I am leaning towards 'yes.'

wow this is a really long jump, how long did it take to make this?

Yeah, is right. He's befriended his literal murderer, someone who said straight up taht he hates Gentaro, someone who stabbed him in the back and stole from him, he fuckign
HE BEFRIENDED AND FELL IN LOVE WITH AN EMOTIONLESS BLOB OF COSMIC ENERGY

you remember that SOLU stuff in the jump?
He /befriended that./

Yeah, well, this joke is wearing thin. Kudos for having the stones to google "noseless baby" by the way. I would have been too scared.

I actually googled Voldemort baby, but the homunculus is far too gross looking. Also that floof is adorable.

thanks user

And here I thought your baby picture would have a face similar to Nicolas Cage... though if it were sans nose or not, I wouldn't know.

Hey man, that's not funny. I died for your sins, you know.

underwater colonies on the bottom of the ocean actually, so I guess both
Also was I the only one who bothered to show this to Archie?

Okay, so I've got some Eclipse Phase fever at the moment completely unrelated to a recent trip into the TQZ and I have some pretty solid ideas for a Firewall-themed jump.

For those not in the know, Firewall is the vigilante conspiracy the PCs are assumed to be a part of (as the mechanism for why this eclectic bunch of screwballs are all together), but it's by no means compulsory for playing the Eclipse Phase RPG.
Firewall's job is to try to prevent threats to transhumanity as a whole, but from my experience the PCs usually get mixed up in other stuff going on in the setting as well (liberating Mars, fighting ego-thieves, treasure hunting etc.).

Jump structure would be insertion into a Firewall cell as either a drop in or one of its seven specialist roles (Router, Crow, Sentinel, Eraser etc. which equate to Leader, Researcher, Agent, and Clean-Up respectively, plus a few other roles).

You then build eight other members of the cell (and/or import companions).
Most of the perks I have so far are skill packages related to in-game skills or traits. I have a solid idea of a scenario and the drawbacks to include as well.

The problem is I'm not sure how to incorporate this into a broader Eclipse Phase jump. The issue is that without the structure of Firewall, EP's system is classless and presents a challenge to divide up into the usual array of "backgrounds" the way /jc/ is used to.
So I'm unsure whether I should:
1. Make the EP jump with Firewall as a second jump (ala DDS pt.1 & DDS pt.2)?
2. Make the EP jump with Firewall add-on?
3. Incorporate them both into the same jump (since they are the same setting after all)? Is is only an issue since I can imagine people wanting to jump EP without the added baggage of being a member of Firewall.

So I'm looking for input, ideas or suggestions, and apologies if someone else has already claimed the setting.

>He /befriended that./
HEY! I'll have you know that SOLU has feelings too man.
Totally made sure she stuck around, but sorta gave her my newly made Quantum Switch as a focus for her existence. As long as she is observed in any way shape or form, she exists. The Kamen Rider club is awesome in that way.

And I may or may not have given the kids a Chekov's Gun to use much, much later.
Kamen Rider Nadeshiko's Quantum States is all kinds of marvellous bullshit from what I heard...no, I did not infiltrate the school as a female student who wants to be the best actress in the world. No I did not join the club to be their spymaster with laughable disguises that only the Club Members can see through. And no, I did not have a massive case of hero onii-san worship for my male identity in the Jump.

>pic related

I simply heard about this chick who showed up after I left and that she was posing as my sister who had been chasing after me. After my Ranma Jump, I've learned to stay away from such crazies.

You could do something like what Bloodborne did and let people choose one perk each tier to have discounts on.

If you think that Firewall would make things easier, I'm fine with that being the focus. There are other things to do in Eclipse Phase (I'd personally love a Gatecrasher option), but Firewall covers so much that it should still be a great showcase of the setting.

Shhhh Don't tell anyone I'm working on this Tophat will kill me

Couple builds before I call it quits for the night.

>Jump 32: Dark Sun
>The World, reversed (A great work betrayed. Regret and disappointment.)
>Age: 26
>Location: New Kurn (-100)
>Race: Human
>Identity: Apprentice (-1000)
It's worth paying the points to go to New Kurn. I'd rather gain the abilities of some sort of freaky glowing critter than try to be some ridiculous dragon. And I've got the time to invest, after all...
>Drawbacks: Ravenloft (+100)
This is not a pleasant place. That will not be a pleasant follow-up.
>Preserver (Free, Apprentice)
Ah, so I know the PROPER way to cast magic in this world... you know what, combine that with the plant-based biomancy I've got, and I might actually be able to make the world a (slightly) better place.
>The Way (Free, Apprentice)
Psionics as well? Oh, that will be entertaining. I bet that will grow rapidly as well, this isn't the first perk I've gotten that gives psionics, though it probably is the most flexible.

To be fair, this won't be a terribly entertaining decade. I'm sure I'll be going out and doing things, but I'll spend more of my time apprenticed to Oronis. But like I said... I want to make the world a better place, and the best way to do that is finding some way to get vegetation to take hold in the desert.

There will be rain on Arrakis... I mean Athas. Even if I have to return post-spark to make it happen.

automated von Neumann LoTs hunting down the Varelsi, mass-produced Alpha lanterns helping out on missions, Building and protecting some stellar nurseries, maybe stealing some stars from a microuniverse battery to help them get kicked off sooner.
speaking of Fourze is adapting the Fourze driver to accept Gaia memories instead of Astroswitches a good idea? I'm only a episode five of Fourze but I think Gaia memories are much cooler/better potential for armament. Also is Kamen Rider Fourze OOO Movie Taisen Mega Max one of the Canon movies because I want the villains driver from that movie. And I can totally imagine my Jumper stealing it before the villain can use it.

>Jump 33: Ravenloft
>Ten of Pentacles, reversed (The loss of reputation or inheritance.)
>Age: 22
>Location: Mordent
Ah, Victorian England again - wait, no, we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto.
>Identity: Drop-In
>Drawbacks: Scarred (+100), Holy (+200)
So not only are the monsters going to hate me, but it's going to be blatantly obvious that I'm a monster - no hiding it. Okay. We'll work with that.
>Iron Will (1200, Drop-In)
Not that it isn't already covered, but... it doesn't hurt.
>Mistwalker (900, Drop-In)
You know... it occurs to me that disappearing into the mists like that is actually a part of the normal vampire powerset in some settings.
>Monstrous (100)
A vampire? In Ravenloft? Say it ain't so, Joe!
>Spectacles of Clear Sight (0)
These should work especially nicely if I combine them with by stand-sight glasses.

I think this is going to be something a bit different, but I'm hardly going to go chaotic stupid - instead I'm going back to my roots with Hellsing here. A monster that hunts monsters. Of course there's no one holding my leash, and I need to be a bit careful to not lose myself in the hunt, so I'll need some side projects as well. You know, I remember a perk I took a while back to help me make magitech. Maybe I should look into that and see what fun I can create in this setting...

>Artifactory (1650)
I'm going to be here for a very long time. I might as well spend my time wisely.
>Arcane Adept (Free, Arcane)
Basic spellcraft? Not a bad idea to get one's foot in the door.
>Tower Trained (1500, Arcane)
But formal training is always an important thing. Not even sure I want to be in one of the orders, but if I must, I'll go for the Order of the Red Robes. Neutrality is an unfortunate necessity.
>Hedgemage (1350, Arcane)
Of course, just because I have training doesn't mean I'm not looking for other ways.
>Archmage of High Sorcery (1050, Tower Trained)
Being able to brush off the more problematic issues with astrology, while still being able to use the helpful ones, is a great aid.
>Renegade Magecraft (750, Hedgemage)
And being able to get more return for my investment, spell-wise, is always a benefit.
>Acolyte (650)
Oh, channeling divine magic too, are we? I feel the warp overtaking me.
>Seeker (50)
IT IS A GOOD PAIN.
>Items: Merch (Free), Texts (Free), Parts Parts and More Parts (0)

Every 600 point capstone you get gives you a discount on an item, and those will all be very useful: I get to learn how the canon is supposed to go, I get useful texts beside that as to the nature of Chaos and the concept of chaos itself, and replenishing source of parts to play with.

Now, see, this is where things get a bit interesting. Because on reflection... it seems that the Kender were created by Chaos. Why would Chaos do that? Well, Chaos has been locked up in a gray pokeball for a few thousand years, so I'm pretty sure that if I were in his shoes with people fighting over the damn pokeball but no one wanting to let him out, I'd be more than a little peeved too.

And why is everyone so pants-on-head retarded in Dragonlance? Because they literally SEALED AWAY AN ALIGNMENT. He's not just a deity, he's an integral part of life - when Chaos gets out, you get wild sorcery and mortals able to play with magic more easily. This propaganda about Chaos being nothing but a force of destruction is nothing but that - propaganda.

So screw this Chaos War stupidity. I'm going to find his pokeball and let him out as quickly as I can, and once I've done that and the gods eventually get exiled again, I'm going to bring him back by getting people to worship him. It's going to be a very, very long jump for me, but it's going to be very much worth it.

Well... either that, or I'll live to regret my mistakes. Carpe diem, eh?

So what's the over-under on at least one jumper trying to reverse engineer the Exsurgent virus to gain all the cool psi-epsilon powers without being turned into a puppet for the TITANs? Or even better, someone trying to reverse engineer the original virus the ETIs used to make the TITANs go rampant, so they can use it to become their own "stable" TITAN?

I don't get it. What is joke?

also 1.if we have the fully operational claws system does that mean we can use it to build the scorpion robot?
2. If we took claws system and didn't get the birth driver, can we have that as an add on to another driver?

Oh. I almost forgot the most important part.

You remember how I have a Casull revolver that can kill quite literally anything short of an omnipotent deity?

Yeah, that Mina bitch of a Mary Sue is getting her brains blown out, since I'll be around just long enough for her to pop up, and she is among the few who I will very happily erase the soul of.

Fuck retcons and lazy writing.

He said he had a picture of Justice when he was younger. Look behind Kid Flash in that image, what do you see?

Literally who?

Huh. Now I'm wondering if you used that Heal The World perk from Sugar Bowl, what would that actually do for Athas? And what if you used it in the Gray?

>Mina was a born of the joy of the combined gods when the world of Krynn was forged by Reorx during the Age of Starbirth. When born in the Age of Starbirth, only Paladine, Mishakal and Majere witnessed the arrival of the new god of light. However they knew that this would upset the Balance, so Paladine asked Majere to send her into a slumber and hide her away, rather than let this radiant being be destroyed.

Literally written into the setting by some hack of a writer in a Dragonlance novel series, had all the hallmarks of a Mary Sue, got the evil knights to all follow her, brought back the gods, and conquered the world.

You remember Kyp Durran, by chance? From what I'm seeing, she's measurably worse in Mary Sue-ness. Written by one of the people who joined the Dragonlance team in 2004.

Look, the whole setting is fucked. Letting Chaos loose is doing it a SERVICE. If Chaos destroys them, well, honestly? They're probably BETTER OFF.

...Oh. Brb gotta go commit Sudoku because i'm apparently the biggest idiot alive.

Now you see the reason for our responses.

Was looking at the wrong thing, the year is incorrect as she's been with TSR since the eighties, but otherwise... yeah. Ugh.

You can do it, and it won't be too bad, but it'll still be only the limbs affected...
I THINK it'll be canon but I gotta figure out where the fuck in the timeline it is
Like honestly
1. Yes
2. You can use them to do the CLAWS Sasori but you can't use them all on the same driver, one CLAWS weapon at a time for non-birth belts
since they're not ENTIRELY compatible with it
BIRTH was made specifically for the CLAWS so its able to carry them all, even at once as teh BIRTH DAY form shows

same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was same as it ever was

...ralizing that i made Neo-heisei so giant

that
i forgot half of what i wrote in there
oh fuck

1. There is going to be a timeline in the final version right? I am probably going to need that
2. If I take that with the tower scenario would it happen immediately or would I have time to steal/destroy foundation X before then?
3. the first night drawback counts towards time spent in the jump right?

youtube.com/watch?v=98AJUj-qxHI

I've noticed that other than OOO riders who have modular gimmicks have an ability to have their gimmicks at the ready when they need them despite the clear lack of pockets, is there going to be a way to do that is that a feature of the drivers, or should I use an inventory perk?

You, I like you.

Honestly, if a jumper wants to do that, I think they can go for it, but there's easier ways to get similar results in the first place.

Making their own tame TITAN? There's straight up AI-genesis and technokinesis from other places.
Psi-epsilon powers aren't that great compared to other kinds of psychic powers or magic that can be had elsewhere with less risk.
If they did get psi-epsilon powers through reverse engineering the exurgent virus or something, they wouldn't have the Jump-chan Guaranteeā„¢ that comes with spending cp on stuff, and remember you need a meat brain to use psi.
Plus if they can reverse-engineer the exurgent virus, I'm pretty sure they could have made something similar on their own anyway.

Well, you don't need a meat brain to use Exsurgent psi. But I'm not worried about someone trying to powergame with this. I'm amused by the idea of someone plugging evil alien cancer into their brain in an attempt to gain a power boost. There are so many ways that could end badly, and I want to see all of them.

Everything about Fifth Age is terrible, and I'm absolutely going to put the Greygem in my Warehouse just to keep the idiot ogres from breaking it.

I'm also going to slap all of them upside the heads and tell them no. Because seriously, guys.

Just assume that the drivers have a weird hammerspace, i can't get too technical but they can pull out their associated gimmick at will

okay I didn't want to wank that because it seemed like something that had to do with a genre necessity rather than something that was actually happening in Cannon, thank you for all your patience in answering my questions so far. Also please see (You)

I think my companions are done with the whole adventuring thing? I don't know. They can have their lives on the ships, and they'll help me, but they're not going to go out and do stuff anymore. They settle down the ships near the Animal Crossing Town and handle shit for themselves and I'm the one who goes off and does stuff. Which I guess works out. I've specced in traveling and had a mission for Dragonlance, and they just got bored eventually and decided to do what they could for our people. The Ships have changed so much over the millenia spent on Krynn that they're unrecognizable from the start. Isaac never stopped trying to improve the things and had access to samples of tech from Steven Universe to DC and Marvel, including a Green Lantern Battery and Ring. Throw in Asriel's space warping and dozens of different magics and suddenly everything that follows us between jumps is a monster of supertech and sorcery.

And they upgraded my Arwing in exchange for whatever bits I can bring them. Slippy is doing his best to keep up, and Starwolf is about 10% more cyborg every time we fight them. I think I'll spend the next few jumps improving this thing. There's not much of a story here, besides that everything followed it's best route in the games because then everything gets a happy ending. There wasn't a need to change anything, besides a new incredibly superfluous character.

>sabotaging any efforts to stop the meteor that don't involve her because of her hero complex.

Wait really? That's dumb.

So, I'm thinking about throwing together a Mortal Hero (Exalted) Gauntlet. How would jumpers respond?

I think you'd need to talk to Babylon to make sure you don't step on each others toes, other than that... Gauntlets are a bit... meh. I know they can be good but... I guess they're a bit too restricting compared to the normal rather freeform nature of jumps.

Only if the reward is "you've impressed an Exaltation shard by facing the dangers of Creation without your powers, you're Exalted now". Because otherwise there's no way in hell I'm accepting the risk of going to that place as a gauntlet. I know, you carry on even if you die and fail a gauntlet. Creation has many worse fates than death.

Ok, but you don't speak for everyone, and I'd love the chance to be a heroic mortal in Exalted.

Ah, I didn't know that there was even anyone doing anything Exalted on JC. I'll wait until I can speak with him before posting anything, but I mostly wanted to get a feel for how people would react to some of my ideas. It would be Hard Mode to begin with and only get more extreme as you took drawbacks

Nope. I understand the concerns you have, and agree with them, but it ain't going to be that easy, otherwise everyone in Creation would need to Exalt, as all of them have undergone that challenge before. Nah, I was thinking that the changes to you in the Gauntlet are now a part of your base, Body Mod, form if you make it through the trails and tribulations of Creation during the Age of Sarrows. Though I might have to change the way that is worded a few times before I'm satisfied with the way it works out. How does that sound though?

Again I'm just spitballing the idea here.

He asked how I would respond. I responded. I never claimed to speak for the entire community.

Well, that is pretty nice, but still not enough for me to chance it. You should make the gauntlet, other people seem to be down for it, but I don't think I'll jump it.
