We all know the story.
A Big Bad Evil Girl and a paladin trying to fuck the evil out of her.
It doesn't matter who she is - a bog-standard succubus, or some kind of exotic princess - the point is, the concept of pleasure torture and brainwashing isn't exactly new.
However, it does make you wonder.
If there are people who train their willpower to resist painful torture, surely, there are also people who train themselves to be resistant to pleasure, right?
People who derive a semblance of satisfaction solely from their job and are numb to ordinary worldly pleasures - usually those are people so obsessed with their work or art that they literally are unable to derive pleasure from sybaritic pleasures.
Ascetic monks who believe in minimalism and self-perfection, bards obsessed with their art to the point they only care about music or whatever they perform, curious wizards who have complete lack of interest if the task at hand doesn't include some sort of intellectual pursuit etc.
And we like these people, especially, when they are presented as good guys.
I mean, who doesn't love the good ol' Judge Dredd?
And yet, when the two of the different kinds of characters cross - a beautiful evil seductress and a frigid ascetic person - we often come up with a blank.
Maybe it's a succubus who hates her job and milks people as fast and as professional as humanly possible.
Maybe it's an evil princess who seduces people for fun and profit, except there is no fun in it, just profit.
The point is, it's their job, they work it 9-to-5, and they slave away at it without deriving any pleasure from it, despite the fact that their job is the posterboy for excess and debauchery.
What's the point of this post? I don't know myself.
