Despite being a rabid Republican, I try to keep modern politics out of my games when I DM. It just doesn't make sense to fit it into a medieval fantasy or distant future sci-fi.

I think part of the issue is that he's a bit of a power gamer and tends to lean toward the abilities/skills you'd expect people with power fantasys to have (only plays Mage type characters). It's a personal gripe about game styles I know, but it's like politics or world view where it can be really hard to see the other side of the arguements.

My main beef is his negativity about everything, in game or not. It's always some edgy morality where people are seen as things that get in his way. In game he chicken littles about lucky unexpected crits or if the enemy's roll a string of 13 or higher on accuracy checks during an encounter. Couple it with complaining about 'luck' even though he rolls about as well as every one else, his moves just don't have flashy effects on high rolls or he didn't get the clutch roll that night.
