Thread Guy returns to the Wendigo Isles to slumber and feed Sub-Edition
In the last thread we talked about SoH's power levels, Thread Guy's mechanicum got fluffed, the legions competed about which one could genocide better, nostraman and chaotic alphabets were posted, Munitorum containers got rules and Curze was hiding inside one. Request orders for Dreadtitan Stormodons and Colonic Irrigators were issued, God was confirmed as an ass-lover, we had an argument about Plasma Support vs Veteran tacticals and we were sheathing our tanks in steel but the Blood Ravens stole that and much more in the last thread Red Book Links:

What Legion Rules best match the Rainbow Warriors?
EC
But instead of Phoenix Spears give them Macuahuitls
Are they ever going to give us rules for Assassins in 30k?
Sisters of Silence could function as pseudo-Cullexii, but considering the Ordo Assassinorum isn't still a thing, I'd say no.
Assassins weren't even around in superhuman augmented form until later on. Best you're going to get is some Inquisitors and proto-assassins that are T3 S3 with minor upgrades due to gear or whatever. No more super bullet dodging marine-level weaponized humans.

What's your average casualty ratio, /hhg/? I want to see how many deaths are too many.
The last game I played was in 40k, Guard vs Skitarii
Guard had approximately, including transports/tanks/planes 70ish models on the table
With the skitarii I had about 60ish models on the table
End of turn 6 (game didn't go on) I had 7 models on the table, guard guy had 6
Good times
Most games I'm fielding anywhere between 40 to 60 models and am lucky to have 1 or 2 left alive.
But did you win?
0.
I've never played an actual game. I'm lonely.
Also, what book has the Imperial Militia/Cults? I'm interested in converting my IG to be able to be used in both 40k and in 30k as meat shields for Word Bearers.
If the mission required you to leave your deployment zone to win then yes.
Incorrect. All six Temples were up and running. Malcador controlled all six Grand Masters personally.
At least it's not
Step 1: Prime BLACK
Step 2: Paint grey
Step 3: Paint offwhite
Step 4: Wash
Step 5: Paint offwhite again
Step 6: Highlight offwhite
Step 7: Highlight white
We haven't even gotten Malcador yet, so that's a laughable argument. We're at the Knight Errant stage with Garro.
The fuck are you talking about? Have you not read Nemesis? The Assassins were all just as superpowered as they are in 40k. He wasn't saying anything about their tabletop rules.
Besides Move through Cover, what other rules and options will Grav Rhinos have? Or will the Emprah's Own Custodes Rhinos will still be dumb disposable metal boxes?
>Move through Cover
They'll be Rhinos that are Skimmers.
>Skimmer
>Twin Linked version of the Pseudo-rending stormbolter that all custodes will have
Maybe AV+1 to all sides, its golden color reminds me of Dorn's and Emprah's armour.
Probably Custodes won't be able to be wounded on better than 3+ too, meaning they don't need to be true T5.
>Grav Rhino: ASSAULT VEHICLE.
Which book has the Militia/Cults army list? I want to be able to ally in my IG and do some chaos-y conversions to make them cultists for my Word Bearers. Also, which book has the army list/FOC/whatever it is that lets me use Cultists/Militia with Traitors?
HH5 and 6.
Say, I was looking at the IM's character progression and found he stays at T3, but SA can become T4. Why, if they're both humans? Hell, he could get gene enhancements.
Thanks mate! I've got 6, so now I just need 5.
Anyone mind linking a pdf of it? On mobile right now, unfortunately my computers broken.
Wouldn't it have lighter armor so it can float? It'll have lower AV.
>inb4 Land Speeder transport
>Have you not read Nemesis?
>actually reading BL
>thinking the majority of players are stupid enough to read BL
Lol. You HAVE?
the cerberus heavy tank destroyer has completely retarded rules.
it should have 2 strength D ap1 small blasts or something

'ere you go
I haven't, but I know a full execution squad is there. And I question that fact, because didn't Malcador just contacted the founding fathers of the Assassinorum on Mount Vengeance barely a few years earlier?
But suddenly they have an already functional Assassinorum, with agents that need about a full decade of training at the ready.
What did I miss?
Mate, sorry to say this, but I mean to say that my computer is busted and I can't access the mega because of this. Again, sorry for not clarifying!
Ah, well now I understand. Srry m88, I got it from there.
What was on Isstvan V?
Im building a board and terrain based on it. all I now is it had black sand. Where there buildings or anything on it?
It's fine, mate! I found a pdf of it just now.
Now I just need to find one for the Scions codex, I'm debating on whether or not to get their Start Collecting box. Huge savings it has!
There was death and treachery, user, all of it caked in black volcanic sand. There were also crashed ships/aircraft (preferrably on top of WB and NL), wrecked vehicles, a billion drop pods and some dead civilization's ruins and Ferrus' head .
'ave a giggle m8.
Pic related was part of a chart compilation. I love charts! There's more where that came from ;^)
I wish SA/IM had some sort of Order system like the IG has...but that'd be pushing it a lot, especially with Provenances and superheavies as Heavy Support choices.
Looking at it so far, the ability to have a fear-causing melee only army, with the only guns being on vehicles sounds hilarious.
Though, it'd empty my wallet in the blink of an eye, what with all the upgrade sets I'd need from FW to make all these Renegades/Heretics.
Wasn't a SA/IM redbook/expansion scheduled sometime in the future?
I'm still waiting on more Autokrator, I refuse to believe a few upgraded IA1 superheavies are all the representation they're going to get, especially when FW is known to not have their mind made up.
does the list in 6 differ from the one in 5?
If you're talking about that lists that functions with cultists, that's a RoW rather than a different FOC. Sacrificial offering, right? It's on book 6, in the "new RoWs" section.

I wonder if FW considers casualties to be killed in action or if casualties is being used correctly to define both killed and wounded in action.
Straight up losing 78% of your men as killed in action seems wasteful even by Iron Warrior standards, especially considering their penchant for mathematics and probably viewing unnecessary/wasteful losses as inefficient.
>HEY ASSHOLES WHERE THE FUCK IS 3rd COMPANY
We're it, sir. Just the six of us left.
>YOU INEFFICIENT FUCKS. I'M ROLLING YOU INTO 2nd COMPANY AND YOU ARE BEING RELIEVED OF COMMAND. GRAB A BREACHING SHIELD, ALL OF YOU.
But sir there was-
>I DON'T GIVE A SHIT, YOU FUCKING INCOMPETENT NINCOMPOOP. YOU WILL BE LEADING BREACH ASSAULTS AS PUNITIVE DUTIES.
Iron Within.
>IRON WITHOUT. NOW GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME.
Hmmm... Reading through it, my current Leman Russ loadouts are incompatible with 30k, seeing as I have MM sponsons on all 6 of them. Vanquishers and Exterminators.
A shame, I'll just use them as counts-as then.
Yeah, they take the termn "casualty" as both killed and wounded in action, I think they have a casualty chart on HH4 or something similar.
>Straight up losing 78% of your men as killed in action seems wasteful even by Iron Warrior standards
Dude, the Temporaferrox are the Hrud. Simply surviving them is already a victory of its own. And they won.
I bet the Hrud attack was how they discovered that the IW's geneseed caused the long bones to bend as the marines grew several centuries old. Because that's how the survivors got left.
Astartes biologically ~600+ years old in a Crusade that had started barely 200 years ago.
I bet those six marines got sent to garrison a full world on their own. In fact you just described this nigga's backstory.
IM Russes can have sponsons, SA's can't.
I know that, it's just that IM Russes can't take MM sponsons. Only HBolter and HFlamer.

The Iron Within by Rob Sanders is fucking awesome, I hope he keeps writing IW stuff.

>IW's geneseed caused the long bones to bend as the marines grew several centuries old
Wait, what?
>Mandofags
>in my 30k
no thank you
>When marching across No Man's Land as hot lead rains
>Minor Ossmundula mutation sometimes cause limbs to twist and deform as marine grows really old (we're talking hundreds of years to millennia) - this is usually dealt with by replacing limbs with bionics
According to the wiki, in the grim darkness of the IW's future there's only twisted bones. Sometimes.
>This is either the best decision you've made or the worst. whichever it is I doubt I'll live long enough to find out.
The good part starts at 1:44, I'd say it fits an IM/SA muster. I mean, they're so varied it has to fit one of them.

That has to be what plays in Pert's mind.
Say, when did the WE got their nails? I was thinking of doing a sort of quest with the characters and memes /hhg/ has embraced/spawned (I10 EC Praetor, Tactical assault moons, Beep-boops, grav-titans, etc.), but I'm not sure whether or not the WEs already had the Butcher's Nails when Alpharius was found.
A few threads ago we mentioned special characters using FW's creation and was wondering if anyone else wanted to develop this concept a bit more.
>Imperial Fists dude, T 6 3++ using RoW
>Emperor's Children Champion, I 10 in a challenge on the charge
>World Eaters Praetor, WS 9 in a challenge on the charge with 8 or 9 attacks on the charge
>Blood Angels Praetor, S5 with the double wound sword and instant death for one fight subphase
>Solar Auxilia Lord Marshal with +1 to reserve rolls (can pick warlord trait to reroll reserve rolls)
We also had a stronk Archmagos (T7 W4 S10 chainfist), and a IM character and a DG librarian were due.
The BA Praetor is new (?), but it's the most broken thing ever. I like him already.
Yes, I wanted to use those characters. Back when we mentioned them (the "League of Extraordinary Characters") we kinda placed them on one of their good endings:
All of them on the same side, with sweet DTs and in the Autek-Kyr fleet, but that's one of the many endings they can have.
I wonder if more people are interested. That's but 6 factions of the ~23 there are in 30k
This is what irks me most about 40k right now.
You just murder so many units, it's fucking retarded.
>All of them on the same side
Can Shattered Legion take allies? If so.
>Blood Angel or World Eater praetor as warlord
>Two of the following (IF dude, EC champion, DG Librarian)
>Allied with IM, SA, or AM characters
EC could also be given the EC relic in addition to his charnabal sabre giving him the choice of +1 I and rending or 2++ and AP 3. I don't think the fists dude benefits from any particular consul rules and his only benefit from being a praetor over a champion is the extra wound.
I would actually like the idea of them splitting up during the heresy some supporting their legion, some turning against their legion. EC vs WE would be hilarious (EC dodging everywhere while the World Eater yells like a madman trying to catch him), and BA vs Archmagos would be pretty brutal (can the BA throw out enough wounds to kill the Archmagos before he squishes him with a chainfist).
Also since a chainfist and eviscerator almost have the same rules you could always give the archmagos a paragon blade and chainfist modeled as an eviscerator, give him extra arms and make him go full General Grievous, as tall as a primarch with thin spindly limbs.
>EC vs WE would be hilarious (EC dodging everywhere while the World Eater yells like a madman trying to catch him), and BA vs Archmagos would be pretty brutal (can the BA throw out enough wounds to kill the Archmagos before he squishes him with a chainfist).
Now that would be awesome to see.
Yeah, I envisioned that Archmagos (Radigan) as a fuckhueg (T7 is Castellax/Mortarion toughness), albeit slender Malagra dude (+1WS, +1A, PE vs characters and MCs, Loyalist) equipped with a Paragon Blade, a Chainfist, a Rad Furnace and Rad grenades, among other stuff (like his Machinator Array and Abeyant).
Never fully fluffed him, so I rather do so.
He hails from a forge world with a very strong Ordo Reductor presence (lots of siege machines, two Ordinatii, their oathed Knight worlds have several Acheron suits), but he got stuck in a logical loop:
>"Who destroys the destroyer?"
As such he decided to specialize in the destruction of the most dangerous things he knew - his fellow Magi and Battle-Automata, ending up constructing himself a huge modular cyber-corpus and becoming what the Adeptus Mars would recognize as a Malagra.
He didn't actually kill his fellow Magi because his analysis and efforts towards destruction, specifically the ultimate erradication of all things INCLUDING the cycle of destruction itself ended up setting him free from the loop when he realized Destruction wasn't self-sustainable...not to mention he wasn't really a bad dude.
His world got discovered by the DG and he saw part of himself in them: Destroyers focusing their efforts to cleanse the galaxy of the enemies of man.
His fellow Magi, mainly Reductors, Ordinators and Myrmidon savants who ostracized him and repudied his ideas of destruction as a mere prelude to edification were all to happy to second him to the great crusade.

Back on that thread he teamed up with a DG librarian who would bear the Barbaran thurible while casting enfeeble, so that he could close in and Instant Death the squad due to inflicting -4T on them, killing 20-man squads and 2W termies at I10 without him even attacking, exterminated by his erradication aura.
On that iteration of The League, he would be under the command of Unification's SA character simply because he liked that guy and would often agree with his battle plan, even though he was about two centuries older than him.
He understands his role is to fight monsters and to endure where others can't.
Looks like it's time for to spend untold thousands on thunderhawks and FW land raiders so he can smash them up for terrain.
I like this. So what are the characters' loyalties? Based on the interesting matchups I think that World Eater and Emperor's Children should be on different sides, and so should Blood Angel and Archmagos.
For the Emperor's Children champion my thoughts were something like this
>Recruited from a world that was recently liberated from xenos
>Even before receiving the geneseed he showed speed on par with an astartes
>After becoming an astartes he became even faster and developed into a natural swordsman
>Due to his inhuman speed superior to even a primarch rumors spread that he may in fact be partially of xenos or abhuman blood
>Regarded as perhaps the single best duellist humanity has but a pretty crappy actual fighter
>Might be able to defeat Sigismund in a duel to first blood but in an actual fight Sigismund would rip him in half
>Shows off in battle often mocking his opponents and dancing around them as he fights them
>Obsessed with romanticism in warfare and is completely baffled by the pragmatic legions like the Iron Warriors and Iron Hands
>Remained loyal because he began to see himself as some tragic hero "oh to be forced to make the ultimate decision. To decide between my brothers and father, or the Imperium I swore loyalty to."
>badly broken arm
>needs surgery to repair it
>blood pressure is way too high, making surgery very risky
>told to cut down on the cigarettes
>'no'
>complain to press when NHS won't carry out operation because it might kill you
How does the BA praetor get the ID?
My prognosis: Dreadnought entombment. I'm an engineer.
It's a Melee Advanced in page 223 of HH4's campaign character creation
One of the FW Warlord traits gives you instant death for one fight subphase. Headsman its the 4th choice in the melee advances table. So yeah effectively strength 6, each wound causes two wounds that must be saved separately and every wound causes instant death. Short of Sigismund and maybe some Salamanders praetor builds I doubt anyone could survive that one round.
Well besides primarchs and Scoria.
FW sells a crashed Thunderhawk tile for cheaper than a Thawk.
Ded killy. Now all he needs is to be run with the jump pack RoW so he can get +1I on the charge and do all that before his opponent has a chance to swing back at him.
>Fractal-Harrow Blade (Raven Guard Relic): Yet another S+1 Rending power sword (albeit not a specialist weapon, enjoy your +1A). Not the best, but for each wound caused by this weapon the weapon's BEARER (so all you need is to have it, FAQ confirms) is counted as two wounds for the purposes of assault results, meaning easier victories. Remember that Blood Angel OP sword of double-wounding? Well this one's just like that, but with worse AP, not master crafted, you need your opponent's permission to use it and the extra wounds are just pretending, not actual wounds. Too bad.
Not only do some relics suck, but that BA sword of double wounding is absolutely OP, as it effectively makes your praetor (4 + charge + digital weapon) * 2 = A12 on the charge, Master-Crafted, by the way.
As in he gets more attacks than fucking Angron, at presumably half the price.
Hell, it's even better than their own photonic blade relic.
btw he should have the Master of Offence (Furious Charge) WT, so it can stack with his Encarmine Fury to give him 12 WS7 S7 AP2 MC Instant Death attacks on the charge, at I7 when using a Jetpack in the Day of Revelation, while the rest of your army uses the MegaDakka®.
>Call the Warmaster, he can't unrend you.
Papa Sangy, weep for all of us...and pray that this nigga is loyal, otherwise we'd suffer with the inclusion of yet another Scoria-tier murderhobo, never mind Horus.
...actually, that would be quite a challenge for the League to tackle, and I did say the Malagra was loyal :^)
I assumed we were using the basic character creation rules before any further advances so he only gets one stat advance and his warlord trait.
Slowly working my way through 2x10 simple tactical squads.
The vexilla bearers. Now I see that I forgot to clean one banner.
And some regular tacticals wearing pilfered high elf bits.
If a model has a two-handed weapon and a regular melee, and he uses the regular, will he get the bonus attack for having two weapons? I know he doesn't if he uses the two-handed.
I'd argue not but there's nothing I the rules saying goes so I don't think
>nothing in the rules saying so I don't think
Gosh I'm retarded
>HH4's campaign character creation
That sounds interesting, details of what's in there?
They had way before Alpharius was found. It sort of was the first thing Angry Ron did after Khârn wrestled him.
Yea, Angron basically didn't think the Astartes were proper warriors without the nails, so he got to it as soon as he could
I can't see the point of taking a Malcador over a Leman Russ in a IM list.
Also, can IM not take Malcador Defenders, or have I just missed where it is?
Why not just chop it off and replace it with a fake arm instead?
Your bases look a bit dusty.
And we all know how that ended.
if he cant have surgery to fix it, he cant have surgery to have it off can he
Planetary bombardments are dust magnets.
I'm actually not sure how I'll paint the bases. A cool white and grey-white concrete dust pigments on the units, or a warmer sandstone yellow and desert dust pigments.
That's a better approach, yeah.
Then the WE gets 8 WS8 attacks, the BA gets to use the op sword at effectively S6 and the Archmagos is regular S4 instead of S5
>That sounds interesting, details of what's in there?
It's "Your Dudes: The Rules", a very nice concept, albeit the Movement advances table is dumb and the Morale Advances are Melee mostly, so there are only two real tables:
Melee Advances and Command Advances.
I'd propose
>Movement Advances table
1.- Gain MTC
2.- Gain Scout. If he already has it, gain Acute senses
3.- +1" to move, run and charges
4.- Hit & Run
5.- +1 to cover
6.- The character and his unit can shoot and run in the same phase. If any of them wasn't able to run (Lumbering advance, Slow and Purposeful etc) or has any heavy/ordnance weapons, they run on 2D6 and discard the highest dice.
About as well as it could have, honestly
Say, a few hours ago the page wouldn't let me post. Was it only me?
Aaaaw, to bad Aang Ron sperged out so soon. I always thought that, after De'Shea he only agrees to stay with his legion, but the efforts to remove his nails continues for some time, and after they failed and the legion decided instead to get their own nails, some more time had to pass in order for them to be developed and implemented.
It's not like they went "woah you have nails on your head? Sgt! Pass me my hammaer!".
I was hoping to be able to run a sort of miniquest but I wanted both the AL and non-crazed WE to be available, with the option to acquire the nails as a choice later in the campaign.
But maybe a little tweaking can be done? You wouldn't report to your Primarch after all (but they did changed some aspects of their legions, albeit Alpharius less so).
Superheavy benefits, but SA can field them better and have a reason to do so (their Russes aren't heavy).
Why do you want a Defender, though? Fluff, I presume.
Nah, 4chinz was down for a bit
Alright, that's cool, I'll check it out. Unless that's the whole thing?
Ah, alright. Nah, with the Defender I just like the model is all.
I already own a few Leman Russes, so I'm good when it comes to tanks. I'm thinking of maybe Tainted Flesh plus Feral Warriors, with the infantry taking as many CCWs as possible, and the tanks being the only shooters in the army. A little bit fluffy right there.
That's the second part of it. Roll dice, your snowflake gets boosted, and then he grows further from combat experience.
Unless he's killed, of course.
>Based red black, lava cracked, color scheme
>based on warhounds hunting much larger targets while reavers and warlords provide kill shots
>Crusades with the World Eaters
>Use fucking Harpoons
>Ursus Claws bitches
>Takes out Emperor Titan like a scrub while allowing the World Eaters to take it without destroying it.
What is the best traitor Titan Legio and why isn't it the Ember Wolves?
Ordering my first titan and really trying to justify building a giant harpoon gun on a warlord titan...
...
They even have a casualty table (correctly understanding it means both killed and wounded, like what happened to Azrael), and your character can be captured and you end up playing a rescue mission.
It's a little hard to rescue him without blowing everything up...along with him.
Dear Forge World, why don't you have Jump Pack upgrade kits I can buy?
>Then the WE gets 8 WS8 attacks,
WS9, 6 base +1 for stat boost +1 for charge +1 in challenges via LA rules
>Archmagos is regular S4 instead of S5
Could make him an archmagos reductor, WS, BS, S, T 5 by default. Wargear options are a bit shittier but he has access to phosphex
>WS9, 6 base +1 for stat boost +1 for charge +1 in challenges via LA rules
I thought the +1 to WS on charge was the Master of Blades Melee Advance.
>Could make him an archmagos reductor, WS, BS, S, T 5 by default. Wargear options are a bit shittier but he has access to phosphex
It could work, albeit the he can't have both a Paragon blade and a chainfist (I could replace it with a regular power fist, and breacher charges are power fists on initiative) and can't have both a Rad furnace and a Machinator array (but he could bring a Scyllax retinue).
But at least he can shoot two armour ignoring weapons now (meltagun that Explodes! on a 4+, fuck forts!), so it may be even more fitting, and still be S5 T7 (albeit at WS5 base A2). And he hails from a Reductor world anyway, so yeah, it could work.
According to that, all the +1 covers are cumulative with shrouded except ruins. Oops
Since they released a couple of Cataphractii upgrade kits specifically for the BaC plastics and changed all their weapon sets to have hands pre-attached to work better with BaC, they obviously want to push those plastics as the new standard.
Here's my tinfoil hat theory on why they haven't retrofitted bolt pistols, chainswords and jump packs into a BaC upgrade kit: the next box set will have plastic assault marines
FW's stupid typos, man. That table is useless.
Move through cover alone trumps half of that table, and camaleoline fucks the other half (but stacks).
Also, I want to assume "Ferocious Escalade" (Melee advances #1) causes the enemy to test on 3D6 and discard the lowest, otherwise it actually improves the enemy's Ld, as they literally can't fail a test unless they are Ld5.
I'd be excited but I hate Mk IV assault marines, which if they follow B@C is what they'd be. Mk II best assault marines, and I've already got 20 anyway
I'd consider using Assault marines but they're simply too expensive. If they costed 200pts maybe.
Are Reavers (or Justaerins) fluffy choice in a loyalist Sons of Horus/Luna Wolves army list? I know that they are allowed rules-wise, but due to the fluff in the LACAL and AoDL they are mentioned as replacing the usual Despoilers along with Chthonian ganger mentality supplanting the Terran heritage.
Would there even be any SoH/LW on loyalist side or would they more likely be blackshields?
I use them because I'd rather have a hoard of assault marines moving 12" than a hoard of tacticals footslogging, and I already have a hoard of tacticals in a spartan. I also don't want another spartan. I haven't actually used them yet, so I can't say it's a great plan, but that's my logic
