Copypasta is old unfortunately, newest archived version I found on google was from late March.

[Still coming soon] [ish]
Marine Tactica underway.

The five SM chapters that are being included are Ultramarines, Space Wolves, Dark Angels, Imperial Fists, and Blood Angels.

It's quite likely that the Smurfs will be the 'generic' option, with the other chapters taking the role of favours.

If I had to guess:

Imperial Fists = tankiness

DAngles = shootiness

Blood Angels = boarding

Space Wolves = gotta go fast

Bump

>no IN changes

what a shit fucking update

The devs said they're happy with IN. IN are going to stay shit forever.

how soon??

Space Marines on the 21st.

So I'll be out of town.

not soon enough

Though IN might be uncompetitive on paper, my experience in MP with an altogether average fleet composition (jack-of-all-trade Lunars and a Mars) has been very good simply because so many players are terrible, cowardly, or both.

I've had opponents warp out after losing a single Dauntless, or jump after camping in the corner and then getting spooked because I *gasp* brought along a nova and shitloads of torps.

You can basically win with anything in multiplayer if you're not totally incompetent and don't just warp out for no reason at the first sign of trouble.

I really like how they nerfed the crap out of ork ships for no reason.

Once everyone has been nerfed...no one will be overpowered...

>take extra fire damage for some reason
>take DOUBLE hull breach damage
>lose their AP gun upgrade
>lose taunt
>get a speed "upgrade" that crits your engines when you use BRB
>bunch of new zzap upgrades that don't really do anything useful
>hanger bays and zzao guns still absurdly expensive
>sensor range upgrade removed

So with all your range control abilities removed and brawling ability thoroughly castrated ork players are basically left totally unable to respond to kiting, even if they can an enemy ship in range for a few seconds they can't do anything to keep it there long enough to kill it and now their high hull HP is undermined by taking extra damage from fire and hull breaches.

I guess if their goal is to make every faction as shitty and unfun as IN then they're on the right track.

Don't you have BA and SW mixed up?

IN is second best at everything.
If you're gud, you can use that to to be better than whatever opponent your facing at whatever you need to. You aren't going to out-fast or out-carrier chaos, but you're tankier, killier, and fightier. You aren't going to out-tank or out-fight orks, but you're faster, longer ranged, and more maneuverable. Comprende?

No Grey Knights option, I take it?

Disappointing. They should let us do our own paint jobs in multi-player.

Shit, I hadn't thought of that. You're probably right.

Custom painting is coming next month IIRC.

Maybe I'm just unlucky but novas feel like complete shit for me. Even at short distances I barely ever hit anything.

>start mission
>data recovery
Just fuck my shit up fampai

Well, 21st is at least what they say now. The current patch was also supposed to go out last week already.

Got to make a decision by the 21st whether to grab this for the space marines and tau DLC, or hold off until it's on sale in like a year or whatever. So, how is the game now? I'd heard it was pretty buggy at launch, is that mostly worked out? If it helps, I'm not big into multilplayer, (mainly because I'm pretty terrible at most online vidya, so often there isn't much fun to be had unless a game's forgiving/fun when losing,) so would mainly be getting it for the campaign and some skirmish action.

The campaign is quite good, and the game itself is infinitely more stable and polished now than it was at beta. I'd recommend picking it up.

Ork lance can slow ships now and the slow is stackable.

Okay, cheers, will probably give it a shot then.

How the fuck do you defend your convoys as IN against Orks?

Bugs are mostly cleaned up by now. Singleplayer can be fun, though the Eldar AI has no idea what it's doing. On the other hand, mainly being interested in SP is also an advantage for you because the MP playerbase has shrunken a lot since release (you might still give it a go though, a lot of people suck and it's surprisingly easy to win, even if you aren't that good).

I honestly have no idea. Mostly I just try to delay them with stasis bombs and take our their smaller ships as quickly as possible so they cannot ram every few seconds.
And then I pray that the guy sucks at playing Ork.

Escort spam and MOIND GAMEZ

How much of a bad idea would be to convert all my mechanicus fleet max level into a Nova Spam Imperial Navy ?

Are zzaps worth taking now?

They have an upgrade that allow them to slow ships by 50% for 2s and the slow is stackable.
They also have another upgrade that give them 50% chance of ignoring armor and holofield.
Doing an all lance fleet and focusing on ramming sounds good on paper but it need to be tested.

Dunno, the nova cannons have a shitton of scatter at large distances, even if you fire a full broadside you might only take out an escort

>Dark Angels

Playable The Rock when?

Well fuck I'm not getting experience from victories or loses.

Great patch!

Holy shit that campaign mission where you have to defend the Inquisitor's battleship.
How the fuck is this supposed to be possible? Their 3rd wave is fucking massive

Stasis bombs and lock-on order.
Also ACTIVATING TACTICAL COGITATORS and ramming them to death.

Ram and pray

you now know where the waves are going to pop up, use that to your advantage

Just beat it. Thanks.
Also, are battleships good?

slow and cumbersome but powerful, invest in belt armor unless you want a brick in space

Lot of firepower but slow and with a high point cost.

I don't understand how I'm supposed to play orks now. they're only good (kind of) at 6k range where they avoid AP macros. are heavy cannons still any good or is it all zap and gunz?

Would you say they're viable?

When will they release the Space Marine and Tau fleets?

so based on what we've heard we can make a small couple of guesses

dark angels being described as having rare tech to me means an offensive weapon bonus. maybe better crit chances, boosted accuracy, or something weirder. the fallen thing is weirder. would they really have a bonus just against chaos? maybe it'll boost detection or lightning assault though.

I fully expect space wolves to be the mandatory "better boarding+troop values" favor however.

speculating more I'd put money on blood angels either having a bonus to lightning/boarding, speed, fire damage (unlikely) or thunderhawks.

ultra marines I just don't know. temporary buffs to accuracy ala chapter tactics? fists just seem like the vanilla fleet. unless they get boosted macro damage or some kind of hull buff? I'm very curious to see what they do

tfw no Black Templar fleet
Guess they'd be OP

What do you want to do with it?
Not everything is viable in all situations.

FUCK assassination vs Eldar.
FUCK IT

Eternal Crusade
Like the Imperial Navy favour, but doesn't suck. Instead of a shitty Escort one random non escort ship from your shipyard.

Or I don't know make the IN favour not suck and I, happy.

Assassination vs Eldar with Imperial ships.

In fact any mission with IN is hard.

Imagine the Eternal Crusader warping into your system and fucking your shit up
Is IN underpowered?

Space Marines June 21. Tau late August.

the IN favor for the IN fleet is easily the worst in the game. even aliotic and blood axes do something, the navy is only worth it if you somehow knew you'd be pretty much only fighting slaneesh fleets

Can they work alright with other favors?

Jack of all trades.

No range like chaos, no speed like eldar or chaos, no resistance like Orks. Non of the fancy favours or skills like the other factions.

Almost every IN ship need the AP, +100 Shield, +100HP upgrades to function.

IN has to brawl but doesn't have the speed, numbers or durability to do it.

Inquisition is good for carrier ships. Why would someone have carrier ships with IN? Mad men or very lucky bastards.

Space Marine thanks to the patch is kind of useless now.

IN one cobra escort after 2 minutes ish is not great, immune to insubordination with IN is just silly.

So that leaves mechanicus upgrade that gives you an extra skill and upgrade slot. Yes you need to pay for those on top of the favour.

God I hate Data Recovery so incredibly much fuck

Mechanicus is the best favor in the game tho.

>>Taunt replaced by auto-remove insubordination ability

Fuck this shit. Please tell me that the game is still good after this. Holy shit. How the hell is IN going to fight against the Chaos and Eldars now?

No this cant be true

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

>Camping in a corner against Imperial Navy
It's like they're asking to get rolled. That's the opposite of what you want to do. You want to get behind IN ships so they can't use their torps on you.
You'll rarely ever get to take potshots at the ship's actual stern, thanks to emergency maneuvers so exchanging fire side-to side can work alright.
Conversely, I try to present my bows to the enemy as much as possible. It lowers my ships' profile against torpedoes and maximizes their armor. It's a tactic that works well against other IN , Chaos (so long as they aren't heavily stacking lances and bombers) and Eldar, as starcannons are weak trash to begin with and presenting 75 armor makes them even worse. If they move in for Pulsars I might be able to FSA and board. Failing that I can still LS. If I'm really lucky and the enemy is REALLY dumb I can get a ramming hit out of it.

The new damaged subsystem thing is meh. Status update of belt armor being destroyed is cool. Just wish their was an option to disable data and convoy missions in skirmish and multiplayer

People on the forums were whining about taunt because "Waa I don't like losing control of my ships" without any kind of regard for the role taunt plays in gameplay.

They whined about it A LOT. It basically fucked over both orks and IN vs chaos and eldar. There's literally no way to fight kiting setups.

so what's the meta
I haven't played heavily since the beta, what's good

>Temporary crits now a thing
>You can't easily perma-disable holofields now
Fuck. I know that Lightning striking in and hitting the generator was heavily RNG dependent but this just means that bringing those fucking shits down is even more annoying.
And removing taunt is fucking retarded. It's how you pull in enemy ships to begin with. It completely changes the way I play the game, I can't exploit the forced movement of the enemy ship to line up torpedoes and pick it off easily. It makes Overcharged Void Shields inherently less useful as well. Still not worthless, but now you don't have a simple, clear-cut time and place to activate it.

I screen the convoy with ny ships. It then becomes a sort of rugby match as both the orks and I try to out ram each other. I once managed to destroy a heavily damaged ork battlenship by ramming it with a convoy ship. That captain must've felt very proud.

IN now you either have to go full nova spam and hope for the best or replace all your upgrades and tailor it for a mass torpedo and speed.

Before you could win 25% of the matches against Eldar, chaos or Orks assuming players weren't retards and try to ram with chaos or some shit.

Now even against the AI in heroic is a pain in the ass against chaos. Brain dead AI with little to no kite can keep a safe distance of my ship. So I'm there hoping the AI goes full retard.

Mwj also has that charge up time at the beginning of the match like the in favor cobra summon

PLEASE PUT IN TAU OR TYRANIDS

I usually give the devs the benefit of the doubt, but the removal of Taunt is one of the clearest signs I've ever seen of why listening to vocal minorities on forums is a terrible idea.

In one fell swoop, a patch designed to make Eldar and Chaos *less* OP has now made them even more difficult to beat. It's even more egregious because the ridiculous Taunt of the Beta was long-since removed, but the vitriol towards it remained even for the gimped (but still situationally useful) version.

Combine that with the extended cooldown on stasis, and you might as well have just told IN and Ork players to go fuck themselves, all because some autistic whiners on the forum got bootyblasted that their kite builds weren't an instant win button.

Which isn't a huge issue, as using a MWJ within the first minute or two of a match means something has gone horribly wrong or you're terrible and going to lose anyway.

They're doing both.

yesss

What's fucking bizarre is that the people who continuously exclaimed that taunt is the devil are the same people who screamed about eldar needing their pulsars nerfed (without ever mentioning anything about the eldar taunt resistance, ability to trivially and indefinitely outmaneuver any other fleet in the game and being able to fight entire battles while being invisible).

They're literally children complaining about losing and pointing at the most visible thing from the scenario in which they lost and calling it broken.

If Tinaldos continues to pander to those people the net result will be a game that just isn't fun because everything is nerfed t the point of uselessness.

My guess for the future direction is going to be:
>Upgrades all come with a ridiculously crippling drawbacks
>Skills have longer and longer cooldowns with weaker effects
>More RNG on everything, less reliable damage application
>Nerf to ramming
>Nerfs to special maneuvers

>nerfs to ramming

The grots wouldnt dare

Is this game as much of a clusterfuck as it seem like from comments on FB and steam?

Having played through the entire campaign and a bit of multi, no. No it's isn't.

If they keep patching it in this direction? Well...

Well if I get into it after this new patch, did I miss the sweet spot?

>fb and steam
Why?

Its a good game just buy it when it goes on sale if youre that worried about it. Once you get the hang of ramming youll never look back

Maybe? You're probably going to suffer a bit from the lack of Taunt, even if you only know the game as it exists without it. There's a lot of situations where I've had to rely on it heavily in singleplayer, specifically against Chaos and Eldar because they kite you annoyingly.

But the basic core gameplay with the Imperial campaign hasn't changed much. Just stick to broadsides, torpedoes, ramming and boarding in that order and you should have plenty of fun.

>If they keep patching it in this direction? Well...
>Let's just make everything worse!
>That will be fun right?

I can kind of understand the complains, there is nothing more obnoxious than losing control over your ships.
However they should have replaced it with something else to make up for it

But we'll be able to change the IF to Crimson Fists right guys? GUYS??!

>Almost every IN ship need the AP, +100 Shield, +100HP upgrades to function.

Even Tyrants? Started not too long ago and for now I went for the accuracy upgrade first because they have such a large range that I can easily fire off a bunch of salvos before I get into close range - if I even get there at all.

Yeah. Having macros pretty much necessitates that.

>>tfw the Tyrant becomes the sniper of your fleet, because of the odd plasma/standard macro mix

>>tfw the Tyrant becomes the sniper of your fleet

For the higher point games I just bring a gothic for that. Drops the shields so insanely fast with the appropriate upgrades, you can just sit back and decide which ship will go next

What I meant was putting turbo weaponry on the Tyrant just to make the standard macros catch up. 15k range is absurd (in both good and bad ways) for macros.

Do macros even hit anything at 15k anymore?
Don't really play IN too much but if I remember correctly their accuracy is already down to 20% at just 12k

Yeah, IN/Chaos accuracy for macros at 12K~ is 20%. With the accuracy upgrade, it becomes 40%. Or something, if this patch shook things up again.

Also Lotsa Gunz *might* not suck dingus now, since Lock On! will make it always launch maximum number of attacks for the entire duration.

MWJ has 2000 limit instead of 3000 now.

I say get it. Campaign and skirmish are enough to have loads of fun.

I'm like you, shit at online games, and still I enjoy the game.

Taunts, bombs and MWJ are the shittiest part of the game.

They are the ones that completely disrupt the core gameplay of maneuvering your fleet and shifts it towards keeping track of cooldown timers and crowd control, which is absolute shite in a game that has so few units on the field.

I'm fucking stoked that taunt is gone.

Is it just me or are Ork fighters/bombers complete garbage? Why do they even have the option?

>squadrons are useless
>gunz are useless
>zzaps don't do enough damage
>kannons are the only thing left and even that got nerfed to hell

Am I stupid or did this patch effectively delete Orks?

Ork bombers are also fighters at the same time. This means that when if you send it for a bombing run to a ship that sends bombers at you, they will knock some down while getting some damage on opposing ship.

Also when they lose units, their damage gradually drops, since all units in a squadron can bomb. Other races have escort fighters which dont bomb. To balance it out, individual bombers have shit damage.

Which results in shit damage. Yay?

Spotted the filthy eldar.

>Eldar

Them's fightin' words son. Is it so hard to believe that I just like outmaneuvering my opponent or carefully positioning my ships and torpedo salvos without having to contend with cheap escape buttons, obnoxious AOE and mind control spells?

For the record I play Imperial Navy. Like a MAN.

Spotted the MOBA player.
>muh taunts
>muh special abilities

Girls girls you are both pretty.

The thing is against elder and chaos while playing IN it is impossible to catch up.

With Orks at least you have zaps that slow their ships and trakktor beams.

With Imperial Navy? You must hope the chaos/Eldar player is bad and he makes a lot of mistake.

With taunt and and stasis you could at least zone them. Now with no taunt and massive nerf to skills.

How on the flying fuck are you going to fight anything with IN?

Yeah, I agree. Just like the original user I didn't enjoy the taunts and bombs either (though mwj was alright), but not having them at all is even worse. They need to come up with a replacement for IN because otherwise your only chance to win against chaos or eldar is that your opponent is a bad player.

How do you win as Ork at low levels now? Kannonz are worthless and cruisers have only 1 zzap slot. It's a slow grind to unlock the big ships when you lose every match to kiting.

You don't.
Orks are unplayable.

>Kannonz are worthless
They still hurt like hell and have insane crit rate.
Kannonz didn't benefit from the range upgrade before, the removal of AP ammo did hurt them but they are still good.
