"Hey Jacky, what's your opinion on Tanks?

We want to develop Boom Tanks, tanks with the same firepower and capability as Long Range Artillery or Anti-Air heavy Flak guns. Each tank able to support each other despite being separated by distance or obstacles using telepathy to guide long range shots.

We're debating on the cost effectiveness of various designs.

We could focus on a medium tank that can be produced en masse and in greater numbers, allowing more of our population to become pilots and for us to field more tanks quickly and with fewer resources. It may also mean more firepower by number. We could focus of many tanks rolling toward the enemy. But this could mean more casualties.

Or we could focus on Heavy Tank and Super Tank design. We'd be able to make less of them for more resources, but they would be sturdier, able to resist damage, and carry bigger guns and payloads and a heavier shield. Rather than having them come in waves, they would form teams of well formed breakthrough tanks supported by even heavier designs. We hope this might mean less casualties."

I am reminded of the Brood Bandit civ where we had a very hard time fighting back the enemy Corps Heavy Tanks, and only did so due to the ferocity of our Brood and allies.

Bane promised us new base territory. Until then all we can do is just build more housing, probably near the base of the tower or better yet underground.

We have the SAMFAP artillery system now to protect our base better at least.

AI Tanks and Artillery Tanks aren't unknown but I never heard of a hybrid without going a super tank or even Behemoth. Though with behemoths its a given they'll be equipped with anti infantry and anti air countermeasures."

"As for tanks my forces employ them and APC's in mass. We have been tanking some losses but fortunately our Air and super heavies have taken the fewest losses."

"A particularly good and adaptable design is the flack cannon tank. While not very useful against other armored its fantastic against air and infantry which it shreds. As for artillery the best ones I heard of is the missile or Gauss tank. Missile tanks being cheap their payload being a single heavy and controlled missile firing out from its cannon. Basically more along the lines of a guided smart payload. Its ammo is more expensive then usual but it can have some very nice supporting effect. For the real nasty ones Gauss Tanks win hands down. Their power is such they can be both a frontline fighter or serve as an artillery role and best of all the ammo is cheap. Alas the tech is not."

"Ever thought about the deployment of drones if your worried about population losses?"

"If you wish to keep casualties low drones and super heavies are the way to go. Problem with super heavies is the energy costs. There is a reason why its pretty much granted they'll all be equipped with a mini reactor to power themselves with. They really are such huge energy hogs. Even now my forces can't afford to use too many of the damned things."

We actually have a design for a Boom Tank. The Turret is supposed to be capable of extreme angles, and can fire both artillery shells and explosive flak shells for AA capability.

"It might even incorporate the SAMFAP system allowing it to fire with speeds like an Autocanon.

The shells could even be guided by our Psionic pilots given the right training and some technological tweaks."

We have a theory on their potential deployment as well.

The "Psionic Overwatch Integrated-Network Targeting" or POINT is meant incorporate psionic tank pilots in telepathic communication over long distances.

With such a system, any psy sensitive person or tank that engages or spots an enemy can instantly and telepathically transmit usable targeting info and data to any other MBT-01 within artillery range. Information on enemy type, altitude, longitude, latitude, and movement of the target will be transmitted in live time directly into both the mind and targeting computers of the allied tanks.

Automatically our pilots and tanks target the hostile and fire upon it from range, using the info given to select the type of shell the angles of fire. In addition they will be able to use their psionic powers to directly oversee and guide a shell as it falls for even more accuracy when needed, or simply fire as fast as possible if firepower is required.

All of this reduces precious time wasted having to transmit data to a central artillery command, calculation, and then retransmitting that data back to the artillery unit in question. It also means that any enemy in range of one tank will be in range of the other tanks in an area even without a direct line of sight.

This inclines me to believe that we really should focus on Super Heavy Tanks and more SST's and Behemoths, with drones to support them.

I'm not sure what kind of drones or what the role of the drone protection should be. Perhaps BANE has an idea.

The increased size means it will be practical to install SAMFAP's on them for sure. Perhaps we can consider a Dual Cannon or Gatling Cannon system for rapid firepower allowing it to tackle both infantry and aircraft with deadly rapid firepower.

Its possible to build them(all they are is a miniaturized reactor) about the size of a vehicle. Which naturally means only a super class vehicle or above can equip one.

Bane Company has recently conquered a corp bunker. While space is limited its very well protected and located in an out of the way place.

Besides some damaged defenses and a large pile of looted bodies. The only other major damage would appear to be the various systems and most importantly its industrial ability has been thoroughly crippled. Most likely done by its previous inhabitants before they fell ensuring their tech wouldn't fall into the hands of the enemy.

Fortunately we ourselves had the means to bring back all those systems no matter how damaged or crippled.

Okay, so after we expand the bunker to make it more pleasant. . .

We very much want to research a lot of things like vehicles, power armor, psi-stuff.

According to Genie its entirely possible for us to reach similar levels of skill with a Think Tank, or integrate one. We won't get their unique civ ability but we can function like them.

How do you guys think we can improve our research to near Think Tank levels? at least towards weapons and armor

superior ai, super-computers or research labs?

Add new labs focused on them. Buy tech or research in the areas. Hire more lab people.

Currently we have JAL's mad labs and lab guys from the jail. Our Ballistics Lab and what ever people picked up some skills from the doctor.

We have 5 heroes, each of them with unique abilities none the least including Mindy who IS from a think tank. Applying them all will surely get us what we need.

The entire area is criss crossed by canyons. Normally I wouldn't show other areas until an forces are sent over but due to location on top of a mountain+megatower vastly increased detection range showed. I had to spoil the nearby terrain types.

Funnily enough nobody ever bothered asking Mindy what it was they researched only its not psi and has the potential to cause problems should psi be involved(otherwise she wouldn't have gotten kicked out).

Mostly because they are consuming vasts amounts of your industrial power(hence why your reduced to 1 action per a turn).

In exchange they been making bulk resource deliveries and offered some conquered turf. Supposedly they will ALSO be handing over some corp tech over to you to bring back online(as it will likely be crippled for obvious reasons).

Gun and ammo vending machines been around awhile(thank you right to bear arms worlds and megacops). Supposedly they even existed in places where weaponry was restricted there was also a armor vending machine(which was more a pod you stepped into for measurements/changing outfits).

Many of them have long been exhausted or in a state of disrepair.

As for research on rapid deployment measures dropships. That subject is a bit complicated and commonly abandoned for other methods. Sadly this means that we have little to go on even without including our damaged memory banks.
