MtG flavor, lore, waifushit and snowflakes

Welcome to a thread where we discuss the backstory to a children's card game and make awful OC for the same setting. Expect the lowest quality of fanfiction and self-inserts in this thread. Remember, every snowflake is shit, especially yours and especially mine.

Previous thread: What happened in it? Some lore was discussed, some asshole who can't stop making snowflakes made two more and nothing of value was produced by anyone at all.

There's also a repository where someone is obsessively hoarding all of the OC we produce, whether it's a shitty snowflake planeswalker or a terrible story. Whatever you make, expect it to be saved. Here's the repository:
>drive.google.com/open?id=0Bwl7IuoVRkFxUDZRVGVfQ1BDbm8

And if you're interested in discussing the lore that's almost as bad as what we make, then here's the latest MtG lore article featuring Arlinn being a bitch:

Enjoy your stay and don't forget, all snowflakes are shit, especially yours and especially mine.

Cute.

Faggot

I really dont feel comfortable posting in these threads anymore with all the weird romantic pairings and "chans" and "kuns" going arounnd.

Well, -chans, -kuns, -sans, -samas, and so on will never go away no matter where you go as this is an anime-based imageboard. And what's wrong with the debauchery? Sometimes we need a break from all the seriousness and hostility from others.

I tried to curb it. But what can you do? I think using chan and kun is pretty gay. The romance is fine, so long as it's not the only focus.

Very few people do that and Vronak is just shit.

I miss the other OP.

I don't mind the jokes about romance and stuff, unless it becomes a serious problem it's just a bit of fun.

I'm not a fan of that either but it honestly just doesn't bother me.

So silly Japanese honorifics are endemic to Veeky Forums but you act as though hostility, trolling and shit-slinging is not? Fuck off.

Threadly reminder that your snowflake is shit.

So, since I've been on my phone and my computer is kaput, I couldn't make custom cards on safari. But, I just looked through the App Store and luckily enough someone made a MTG card creator. So, I'll try my hand at making a fleshed out Purple card mechanic.

Fuck off to then, that's the custom card thread, this is for MtG lore and OC.

Of course I don't act like trolling isn't native to Veeky Forums. But, doesn't mean I can't toss in my 2 cents and try to lessen it.

And you don't think custom cards for a different color identity isn't expected for a flake?

Thank you Sir. You always keep me humble.

Stop being OP. You are better as Plaguelord.

The only way to lessen troll is to not respond.

I absolutely hate ignoring people though. I feel like everyone, no matter how depraved, is deserving of acknowledgement. But, that's just me. I see your point, Gaia-user, and appreciate your concern.

Any progress with the snowstorm collage?

If you're not getting anywhere with it, I'm willing to take back over on it, although I'll be imposing my own standards on it as well.

I want to write something new.

Give me ideas.

If you want to, go ahead. I have a half-finished one, but I've been busy the last 12 days.

I feel like a shitty person. I can't keep my commitment to a Veeky Forums thread.

like a flake? a story?

What do you want to write?

A story. I've made enough flakes for awhile. I feel like I'm spamming. I want to get back to writing, but I don't want to work on anything long. And I want to see what ideas the thread throws my way.

What about the idea you tossed around before with Gaia when she first learned how to utilize Black mana from Vronak?

I am unable to formulate ideas outside of Innistrad and Angels, usually both.

Yeah, but when they make purple flakes, you have to call them on it.

The best way to continue a topic is to respond to it. If you don't want a topic to continue, don't respond.

P.S. I love these threads.

I love you.

I love me, too.

Trips confirm, you're the best.

See .

Urza and Yawgmoth watching current events in MTG and commentating on them as Statler and Waldorf

What would you like to see out of them?

Less of the circlejerk seen in:

Sorry friend.

And more of?

The two flakes have a beef with each other
Go

Anything relevant to MtG's lore.

At least we get lore discussion.

Besides, this is a flake thread. Until Plaguelord put lore in the title, it was called the mtg flake thread, not the mtg lore thread.

Which ones?

This was a lore thread before Gaia took lore out of the title.

I know for sure that if someone adresses me as Murdock -chan again I am gonna consider leaving and not coming back. Otherwise, I am drawing some stuff for the threads but it won't be out until i have finished the pages I have to deal with.

I did that because almost no one had been talking about lore for about 12 threads straight. So I didn't see the point to keep putting it in there. I tried to get another regular lore thread going outsideof this one, but it didn't catch on. If you'd like, I can stick lore back in there.

Seeing as the snowstorm has died down to the point where snowflakes are only regularly made by one person (and are of the lowest quality as a result), it might be a good idea to go back to talking about lore first and foremost and perhaps letting the snowstorm die a more natural death.

I think you're right. The snowstorm is still going, but it has slowed significantly.

I wouldn't say it is dying, it is just being choked by unnecessary walkers and circlejerking, while we need stories and art for the existing characters instead. Kudos to Serena user for the storynin the last thread.

I'm sorry. I haven't had much of an urge to write until literally today. So I've been circlejerking until I got inspiration again. I am shit. I am sorry.

Even from the other side of the screen I can tell this is sarcasm.

Thanks. I'm positively horrible at coming up with ideas so if people give me good hooks like that I'm happy to write stuff.

You could always draw instead. :^)

These threads are shit since no one has done anything awesome with Messenger, not even his creator.

But it's not, tho.

Lies and slander. If it was not sarcasm it would be even worse.
I remember him being in at least one story though.
I'll draw you something in exchange for a story. Deal?

Sure. If you think that anything I can write would be worth that, you did read my other stories, right?

>I remember him being in at least one story though.
Doesnt contradict what I said.

>Only one flake is worth anything here
Wow. That hurts.

It's funny that certain individuals will shit on everyone else's flakes and not say what flakes they made themselves.

What do you do with messenger other than lawl, he's a robutt

I don't know why you tagged me for that one. The other person didn't suggest that they had any flakes, and I didn't either though admittedly I have four, but I'll gladly admit the flaws in them.

Well, considering that roughly 20% of the 170~ snowflakes have almost identical formatting that points towards being made by a single person, it's not so bad.

As a response to you? Not that you are implied in those certain individuals.

And just to point out, not all of them are by the same person, or even the same two people. I believe it's between three different people in total. The fonts and editing styles are default in Apple products photo editors.

I guess I don't see the connection, since what you said was a separate statement, instead of a continuation or a rebuttal.

Alright, I've made a handful of Purple cards so far. I haven't gotten around to the mana symbol just yet, so bare with me. What does everyone think so far?

What's the particular editor you use, Vronak-chan?

It was in response to you saying that someone implied that all but one flake makes the threads shit.

I believe it's just called Photo Editor on Macs. But, for iPhones and iPads it's just the basic editor.

I don't see the point of "purple" really. From a lore point of view, what is it supposed to be, the BE? Which would be either colorless or domain, jury is out on that. Mechanically, you just slapped a bunch of ridiculously powerful effects that range in evey color of the pie, on strikingly underpriced cards, and those effects only share the property of doing nasty things to all available targets.
Back to the drawing board- not even, straight to the trash can, sorry.

what is a Legendary Instant. Is there such a thing?
And btw. Voidshift ist way to overpowered. It is practicly a "My enemy has no more lands"-card for four mana.

Same goes for Wordly shift. the last effect seems to strong.

In general those cards are too overloadet with effects.

In my opinion the Cards look edgy. But then again if there is a cool way of beeing edgy it is this way.

You know that purple has design notes, right? It's not happening because it's a design nightmare.

magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/feature/color-purple-2007-01-29

There are cool ways of being edgy and none of them is this.

Purple is a concept by WOTC's R&D back during the Time Spiral block that is supposed to represent a new mana type from an alternate reality. Just like they had color shifted cards. And as for my thoughts on the mechanics of Purple, I went with all choose modes, no destroy, sacrifice, or return to hand effects, only exile or change type effects, and nothing is really cheap. You think between 4-6 mana for these is too cheap in cmc for these? What would you suggest?

Whats a good way to be edgy?

Not wo you replied to, but those cards dont need an increase in the mana cost. They need to be redone.

Well its Vronak. Guy doesnt even manage to make flakes that arent ruining things and now he is supposed to make cards for a color that doesn't actually exist? Thats a disaster in a fucking bottle.

Uou don't think giving them 3/3's for each land is balanced? And as for Worldly Shift, Austere Command is quite a bit better in my opinion.

How so friendo?

Thirty-one flakes, I'll have you know. Hell, the only one with anomalous formatting of any kind is the Vronak snowflake itself.

Literally read this article
Even if it had happened, it wouldn't have been permanent. Planar Chaos was a special kind of realities and time being bent and would have been closed away by the mending. There aren't sources of purple mana anywhere, so we have no reason to discuss purple spells unless something happens otherwise.

I read that article before so started on the flake. And your point is discussed in the flake's bios.

1. No I think its not balanced. Not for four mana.
2. if you would destroy all standart lands this would be better. But look at it this way:
You have three effects to choose from. And one of those is capable of destroying your enemies complete mana base and leave yours untouched. Yes there are other cards that do that, but those cards would be inusable in most circumstances. While your card still has two good other effects.

You didn't seem to pick up on any of the flavor aspects then. The likely land was City, and it would have been opposite Green on the color pie. All you have is space-bending and spells flavored colorless.

I'll count how many I personally made. I've made 13 flakes thus far.

So, you think it should be basic lands only?

The reason I didn't go with City and the landtype is because the community has made cards in Purple already and have generally went with Vortex being the basic land type.

>13

Cripes, and I thought I was really pushing it with seven and stopped.

I still think that, actually. Thirteen is a lot.

So, what do you all suggest need to be changed for each of these cards?

Sure, but I've been making Flakes since the first ten or so.

>Chose to follow other fanwork instead of the notes from R&D
That was your first mistake.

That's only for lands though. "City" really isn't a natural formation.

You're not wrong about that, but how is "vortex" any better? How are you going to find spacial anomalies floating around in your everyday plane to act as leylines for your casting? At least with a City, that's something that exists in places and can represent some kind of ideal.

I've been making flakes since before the first ten but I carefully limited the amount I was going to make.

You don't see other people making over ten, except for... oh, that's right, the other people using the same software as you in exactly the same way. Another funny similarity.

I figured that the planes in that multiverse are surrounded by vortexes in the sky that have mana leylines that drift downwards to the plane.

I think only Des had made more than me in the same "format". The other flake user is, and I believe but don't hold me to it, is Ashryn's/Astarte's user.

I don't know why I bother. You're just going to always justify your ideas however you want instead of being sensible.

I still only have one, guess I'm boring.

So, let me get this straight... You ASK me why I thought it was better, I give you an answer, and somehow I'm "just trying to justify my ideas instead of being sensible"? You seem to have a skewed perception of social conversation.

Nope, means you're focused. Among other things you can develop ONE flake a lot better than a whole bunch because there's no distractions.

As you seem to have a skewed perception of reasoning. You are way out there, and then when anyone tries to call you on it you just deflect like you can't possibly have done anything wrong.

You think vortexes are "way out there" in the realm of possibility in the MtG universe? Even though we had literally hundreds of rift bubbles in Dominaria's sky and each of these bubbles repeated showed the events in which created the rift. Yet, simple vortexes with mana leylines are just way too out there.
