With all that, you get £80 worth of books for free. Seriously, plus shipping these two were over $200 when I brought them. Now, enjoy the pretty pictures, and don’t shit up the thread. Scanon out.

All I want is beakies as far as the eye can see. Everyone, everything, clad in pristine Corvus armour, armed with Umbra bolters, driving Deimos Rhinos and Proteus Land Raiders. Not a Terminator or a Primarch in sight.
Just beakies.
Isaac Lopez
Thank you. It's not much, but I can only offer my gratitude. This is very much appreciated, Scanon.
Gavin Long
Nope, but I know I would if I tried, which is why any Primarch I buy is going to be commissioned. I'm scared enough to paint Kharn

Trying to decide if I should give my tac sergeant a power fist or a meteor hammer. He's in a 20 man squad, probably absorbing challenges. On the one hand, a power fist is a power fist. On the other, the initiative bonus could be nice in case I come up against something not using a power fist, and I'm still likely wounding on 2s.
Ethan James
Do you want the enemy to have an armour save or not?
Jacob Sanders
Sorry for not making the new thread guys. I kind slept in late when I should have made a new bread and started packing up for my family trip.

Long time Heresy fan here, I'm going to begin purchasing the components of my 500pt army and am looking for painting resources alongside advice on strategy.
I am forgoing a Legion and am instead going to be building a Blackshield army with the following 500pt starting list. It's pretty expensive, but its my starting target, at 750pts the idea is to include dedicated transports alongside some Terminators. After that its anyones suggestion as to what else should be purchased and added to the army.
In terms of lore the spin of my Blackshields will be they are a warband from one of the two redacted Legions, warriors seeking to obtain the power of the Golden Age of technology. Toying with names, I'm considering the Auric Circle or Auric order.
Army Wide Special Rules

Alpha Legion. Or Raven Guard. Or Alpha Legion pretending to be Raven Guard.
Joseph Jones
>501 Well, that's exactly one point too many.
Is there anything you can afford to trim?
Robert Howard
Lovely. I won't have access to Adobe again until next Monday, so sadly the nice pdf will have to wait until then.

The Boltguns at +2pts per model, I could cut one of the plasma guns and switch the other to a missile launcher.

Drop a marauder and give your Delegates a power axe.
Lucas Murphy
Sure, getting rid of armor is nice, but the unwieldy gives them a chance to kill him first, especially if they aren't unwieldy. I'm just trying to decide if the benefits of the increased initiative are worth giving up AP2. not a guaranteed kill, but allows me to not risk not being able to make my attacks to begin with
Isaiah Fisher
Why a Delegatus since blackshields can't take Rites of war? Save 15 points.
Owen Lee
Gives him a master-crafted weapon and two rolls on the warlord chart.
Chase Hall
>two rolls on the warlord chart. I didn't know that, huh, you learn something new every day.
Xavier Bennett
Painted a chaplain today.
Andrew Powell
Based scanon, thank you.
Blake Cruz
Let me say this.
Only Word Bearers kept their chaplains during/after the heresy out of the traitor legions.
I'm sorry, I needed to let out my inner-autist. Though, it does look wonderful though! Very nice.
Ayden Walker
He's more of a warden, keeping the Nostraman scum in check.
Lincoln Martin
Not necessarily true. We see in Kharn: Eater of Worlds a chaplain who refined his oratory skills to peach the rites and rituals of the Blood God. I'm sure there are plenty of other unique roles that chaplains could find in traitor legions that make use of their skills, even roles completely unrelated to the chaos gods.
Jayden Perez
Warped finecast maces like that make it look like the marine is running around slapping people on the battlefield with a giant floppy dildo. Other than that it looks great!

anyone have any experience with shapeways? Wanted to get some luna wolves shoulder pads from the site. Is quality generally good?
Jack Carter
If you remind me tomorrow (at work now and busy all evening) I'll post pictures of the IF shoulders I got off Shapeways.
Jaxson Richardson
I'm looking at the Praevian and robbits again after the recent changes.
So EC robots can, for a flat 15 points, all get sonic shriekers. That seems really damn good between the boosted charges of LA: EC and reducing enemy weapon skill. Like a good unit of Vorax would be pretty nice.
Juan Miller
Holy shit I thought you died
Ayden Gray

>Guilliman killed a legionnaire So Alpharius failed to prove how his more flexible doctrine was superior to Guilliman's. The whole point of Guilliman's and Alpharius' feud was that Guilliman cared about honour and had his rigid tactics while Alpharius relied on extreme flexibility and didn't give a shit about honour. Guilliman killing Alpharius means that Alpharius wins their argument in the end because Guilliman had to resort to Alpharius' tactics and as a result succeeded in killing Alpharius. If Alpharius isn't killed it not only doesn't prove the superiority of Alpharius' doctrine because even when Guilliman resorted to Alpharius' doctrine and took him by surprise Alpharius still defeated him.
Unlike Curze who is an idiot who sees no difference between assassinating a madman and flaying millions of people alive Alpharius' death actually does provide vindication for what he had been saying, tactical flexibility is needed in warfare and honour is a hindrance.
Dylan Martin
It's fine. Have some Phalanx pattern Artificer Armour.

But the Ultramarines never defeated the Alpha Legion on Eskrador, Alpharius had trained his troops to operate in case of the loss of their Primarch and the Ultramarines were ultimately forced to withdraw and bombard the planet from orbit.
Jeremiah Russell
Guilliman still succeeded in killing Alpharius which was a major victory nonetheless. The battle illustrates the ultimate success of Alpha Legion. Alpharius is only killed when Guilliman follow's Alpharius' doctrine on warfare and Alpharius created such an efficient legion that even with his death they were able to achieve victory. Without Alpharius' death the battle becomes "look how clever Alpharius is" with Guilliman still being proven right (following Alpharius' doctrine didn't help and probably caused more harm than good) and Alpha Legion proving nothing because they were being led by their primarch for the entire battle.
Having Alpharius live would be like Ferrus actually surviving and was commanding and fighting alongside Autek Mor during his campaigns. Takes a ton away from the Iron Hands if they only achieved significant victories in the Heresy when led by their primarch. Autek Mor is no longer the badass who crashed a moon onto the World Eaters, he is just a guy ordered to crash a moon into the World Eaters. Likewise Alpha Legion isn't some super organized legion if Alpharius lives, they are just a legion that managed to win a battle when led by their primarch and their opponent invested a ton of resources into a failed decapitation strike.

but how do you know Girlyman killed Alpharius?
How can one be certain that it wasn't just a random Alpharius pulling a Spartakus?

Oh boy, my dream of becoming a little girl is becoming a reality.
Ian Adams
Your second paragraph would be better if the AL didn't have a twin primarch. Do we have any hint of what Omegon was doing around that time?
Xavier Stewart
Not anymore, Dark Apostles are most well-known with the Word Bearers, but there's nothing stopping them from appearing in other Chaos Legions or warbands.
Jordan Reyes
You still usually get subtle stripes from the printing process. They can be sanded down, but that's difficult if there's detail in relief. I don't think the savings are enough to be worth the added effort, not for pieces that should be smooth like pauldrons.

It isn't much in terms of savings, it is more because nobody makes luna wolves bits.
Nathaniel Reed
What if Alpharius replaced Gillman and was the one reforming the bureaucracy
Charles Long
I thought Omegon might have had doubts about the whole Chaos thing? I think it was mentioned in some story in which he and Alpharius was starting to differ in their feelings.
Caleb Clark
What would traitors be? Alpha Legion, Thousand Sons, Death Guard, World Eaters, and Iron Warriors?
Parker Gutierrez
the actual legions didn't matter to me as long as they were different. it was the armour mks i was highlighting

The female battleship captain in Betrayer is awesome, practically a World Eater herself. I didn't care for Angron or the World Eaters before, but it's a really well-written book. Really brings them to life.

Alpha doesn't give a shit about honor. So why should Alpharius pay with his life for some dumb argument 'tween him and a meathed brother
Jonathan Carter
Would a sniper veterans squad with a heavy flamer in a drop pod, for rending template fun, be a completely idiotic thing to do? I know Mor Deythan with rending combi-flamers is said to be really deadly, but then they do have 5-10 templates with rerolls to wound to maximise those rends.
Sweet autocarrot, bro.

He's probably Janus, isn't he?
Isaac Stewart
I'd like Omegon to be Janus and Sevatar to be Khyron, but I haven't kept up on BL to know if it's going to be true or not.
Ryder Long
Are you retarded? I am not claiming Alpharius let or should have let Guilliman kill him. The idea behind the whole story was Guilliman stuck to doctrine meaning he was easy to predict, giving Alpharius a big advantage. When Guilliman abandoned his doctrine in order to decapitate Alpha Legion's command structure Alpharius was taken by surprise because Guilliman wasn't following his doctrines, and as a result Alpharius was killed in the battle.
If Alpharius wins the battle anyway the story just becomes "Hurr Alpha Legion so sneaky, look at my dank memes, everyone is Alpharius."
Isaiah Hill
isn't that already implied in the fluff?

Guy who beat him here, we do 1500 points and he goes against me being WE and my mate being IW, and it always ends up as my butchers tearing apart his lines and the IW tanks rolling over him, he just needs more anti tank for the IW and more pie plates for the WE

>1500 points There's his problem, as they currently stand DA cannot be an effective force at such a points level due to their mediocre legion rules and their RoWs requiring a high points investment to play effectively.
Noah Ross
Mmmmhmmm. Since when the DA wear robes?
Ian Fisher
Is that the one that encourages you to take more numerous, smaller units?
