NEW SPACE MARINE TRAILER

youtube.com/watch?v=3pxdtigmeDY

How can these devs keep pumping out such consistently awesome trailers edition.

Copypasta is still old unfortunately, newest archived version I found on google was from late March.

>Tactics and strategy resources
[Still coming soon] [ish]
Marine Tactica underway.

The trailer seems to imply that there will be further campaign missions, did I miss anything?

Also how will the SM fleets exactly work? Can you pick your coloring upfront? Or is it some kind of reworked favor system, only that the favor gets automatically applied to all your ships?

I'm kinda wondering how they're going to do the marine fleet myself. Are the marines going to get extra picks to compensate for their lack of cruiser and battlecruiser class vessels, or is Focus going to make some up and jam them in there.

They fucked up Dark Angels fluff

>dat talking about the Fallen getting a second chance during the pan around to show the Dark Angels

those cheeky cunts

maybe it's a high level campaign where you play space marine reinforcements chasing Abbadon

>Space Marine chapters will not be favors. At the profile creation you will be able to choose which Chapter you want to play with.
>Ravensburg

Oh? I wasn't expecting that. Good on the devs for making the faction more unique.

>dem ultras
I've always gone hard for fists and blood Angels but god DAMN are the ultras pretty this time around! far and away the best looking

Yeah, I'm getting the feeling that this update will be better than you'd expect from just the announcement

If they have Black Templars I'd be overjoy!

But Imperial Fist will do.

My only problem is that I'm pretty much a fan of anyone but the Dangels here, though I guess I'm still kinda sad you can't do a custom chapter.

I'll probably go for the space-furries.
Did they mention anything if the chapters will differ in more than just colors?

So /bfgg/, if you could make any one custom ship design from a canonical one, what would you do?

Me, I'd take a Battlebarge, remove half the side batteries for a pair of launch bays on either broadside. Fluff it as a vessel that was heavily damaged in the last void fight, and proper macro batteries were unavailable to the Chapter at the time, so the Chapter Master ordered the conversion so as to not deny the Chapter the use of one of it's handful of Capital ships during the wait. The Chapter uses it to launch larger then normal assault waves in planetary invasions and bring additional T-hawks to provide air support for the Chapters Battle Brothers.

Yes, all the chapters will have different buffs and abilities similar to favours. The main difference is that you'll have to pick a Chapter when creating an Admiral profile and stick with it, so no mixing-and-matching from the looks of it.

Wait another month or so and they should be releasing the army painter. You'll still have to pick a chapter for your fleet, but you can fluff that out as having to pick a progenitor legion.

I'm a man of simple tastes. Just give me an Armageddon-class battlecruiser that's been purpose built rather than a refurbished Lunar.

Gotta fix the one glaring flaw from an otherwise awesome design, poor crew ergonomics.

More out of curiosity than anything but what is the smallest imperial design ship capable of warp travel? Bonus if you have a picture of it with approximate size.

That would be the Viper-class Sloop. It's a pure scout ship, meant to forge ahead of the fleet, scope out things of interest, and hopefully be small and nimble enough to escape pursuit.

There aren't any comparison photos between it and other ships, unfortunately. It's about 0.95KM long and 0.25KM wide (less if not counting side 'fins') with a crew of 7,500.

By comparison, the Cobra Destroyer is about 1.5KM long and 0.3KM wide with a crew twice that size.

Any word on when they'll add grand cruisers to the IN fleet?

>Goes to Dark Angels and mention even fallen traitors can be redeemed

Thank you

The developers have to be fa/tg/uys for sneaking in stuff like this.

Also the deceiver shadow.

DANGLES ON SUICIDE WATCH

bump

>Cruiser

They have strike cruisers. I don't know what they'd use for battlecurisers though.

A smaller battle barge?

So do we have formations yet?!?!?!?!?

A skirmish barge?

Or maybe a punch cruiser.

Anyone played skirmishes yet to the point where you are supposed to get those super battles?
Are they worth it?

oh wait, nevermind. I checked their news on steam again and apparently that is something which is planned for the future but not yet in the game

FALLEN!? WHAT FALLEN!? THERE ARE NO FALLEN HERE AND NO TRAITORS EITHER! WHO TOLD YOU THAT? THEY ARE A BIG STINKING LIAR! LIKE I SAID! NO TRAITORS HERE!

actually confused me at first and I thought I had misunderstood something and it was actually a DAngel talking to us

So, what's the campaign like? Is the strategy linear with ever less resources, or something like Total War where even when you lose a city it can be taken back?

unless they get killed off by the inquisition, you can reconquer them
never really understood when a marker indicated that a planet was taken and could be recaptured, when someone tried to invade a planet and when it was just a space battle though

It's nice to know that different Space Marine chapters aren't favours. It'd be ridiculous to have cobbled together fleets of different chapters. I suspect the favours are going to be Chaplainry, 1st Company, Librarium etc.

What's your opinion on the latest update Veeky Forums? I've had some minor success with the Orks but you lose your entire fleet in the process so you never get any experience. They seem to have been made weaker without any buffs to compensate. Nerfing lightning strikes was stupid too, although I like the idea of having permanent and temporary critical damage. Boarding actions should have got a buff and Lightning strikes should have stayed the same in my opinion

Seeing how Spire narrates focus on each chapter:
Space Yiffs = assault/boarding
Ultrasmurfs = ???
Blood Angels = shooty
Imperial Fist = defense
Dark Angels = ???

I only play IN so apart from the removal of taunt, not much changed for me.

What I don't understand is why only some favors grant the ability to cause permanent damage to lightning strikes. It makes every favor that doesn't upgrade it to permanent essentially worthless.

>Ultrasmurfs = ???
You can't actually control your fleet because it always has to act according to the Codex and is thus managed by an AI.

Yeah, lightning strikes are supposed to be the crack troops using extremely rare teleportation technology to cripple critical systems. They should be doing the permanent damage.

It's also bullshit that the Avatar of Khaine can do the permanent damage but Khorne berserkers and terminators can't.

I'm thinking:

Space Wolves: Assault/Boarding
Ultramarines: Generic, Jack of All Trades
Imperial Fists: Defense
Blood Angels: GOTTA GO FAST
Dark Angels: Shooting

Strike Cruisers are Light Cruisers, not Full scaled ones.

no. but seeing how a large part of the game (especially with the removal of taunt and increase of bomb CDs) is positioning your ships just right for maximum damage it wouldn't make much sense to have formations anyway

is there any way to skip the cutscenes at the beginning of a match and go right to the deployment?

Redemption in death?

I thought vipers were .5 km and cobras were like, .6 or .8?

>dev's explicitly say chapters aren't favors and are cosmetic
>yall still speculate what kind of gameplay changes they make

>and are cosmetic
sauce?

I just want them to give us the Gloriana-class at some point.

Might finally be able to level up my Chaos fleet without fighting lvl 10 battleships with 3 light cruisers.

>You have to create a new admiral for each Chapters. (max 5 admiral per Chapter).

>Also, Chapters have different ship's skin and portraits but not the gameplay.

>Regarding the favors system I prefer to keep the surprise but it will be something a little bit different from the other factions 8-)

>Ravensburg

try not to get lost in the sauce

there is really no justification for the level system as is. half the balance issues would be fixed if they chucked it out of multiplayer and had it as an option for skirmish.... at least let us level fleets in skirmish and import them to multiplayer!

SPIRE! NO!

no

fuck off casual

git gud heretek

He does have a point. I'm tired of level up systems in multiplayers.

Specially when levels can make your ships objectively better than lower level ones.

By the way you need to win 45 battles with a ship to reach level 10. That means no executions, warp out or getting destroy. Haven fun leveling up.

I don't want to be a dick /bfg/, and don't get me wrong I love the Armada video game, but why do you guys make this thread on Veeky Forums if all you do is talk about the video game with no reference to the table top?

I have nothing TT related to share at the moment or else I would; still painting up my IN fleet, might order in a couple cruiser recasts.

I have level 10 fleets my guys. it's just not fun to have to grind those first few levels with so few players. a game that punishes you for not having already played it for dozens of hours (each ship requiring 45 survived matches to max out) and punishes new players the harshest for losing is just not well designed. why would anyone start playing this game knowing that they'd have to grind in fucking multiplayer just to have access to the same ships as other people? with as few players as this game has that's just not smart. it makes people less likely to buy and play, more likely to quit a match, and means there are even less players! we can't even keep a general going on Veeky Forums anymore. we used to have drawfags, we used to have multiple generals a day. now it's once a week. I know interest does die down naturally but the game is committing suicide on the alter of being purposefully unfair.

Yeah, but that's a problem with the matchmaking, not the leveling/fleets/admirals.

He's going "Hey, someone kneecapped me, please put my arm in a splint."

because we still got table top stuff cock chugger

Literally not a single TT post in this thread.

what you didnt read the OP?

the matchmaking doesn't work because there aren't enough players. plain and simple. there would be more players if people could play the game at a relatively even level at the start. being worse because you suck at the start is one thing. losing because you don't have the tools, and knowing that losing kept you from those tools? that's just not fun.

The generic OP which appears in every one of these threads and is rarely referenced.

Is it that difficult to accept that more people might have access to, and be willing to talk about, a fairly recent and well-selling video game over a TT predecessor that has been out of production for what, nearly a decade now?

because no one wants to talk to the people on /v/ or Veeky Forums

>pure scout
>armored ramming prow

never change IN

What better way is there to recon an enemy ship than violently penetrating it?

lewd

...

Sure you got the right thread there bud?

...

Inb4 dark eldar can combine macross style

Bruh bruh bruh

Das tight

...

btw, if you hit the enemy from the right angle and go back to normal speed immediately after you connected you can ram them a second time. just need to give their momentum the chance to carry them a bit away from you.
had more than one guy rage quitting on me after I rammed their cruiser from 100 to 0 in a few seconds

Im fond of using high speed turn and induction cells to get a broadside in between the first and second ram.

All these "We're not sure"s. Can they not just ask the voidsmen? Do they bite?

They do, also no one understands their dialect of low gothic.

God why did they have to put it on the 21st

I would have had the whole weekend to play Spess Muhreens, now I have to wait till the next because I won't have time during the week when they finally release them

because its my birthday.

Well grats user.

What faction has the greatest DPS potential? How do I counter that as IN?

>What faction has the greatest DPS potential?
Ork and IN probably. For Orks, just don't get in front of their ships and everything should be fine. You are the better brawler

I thought Eldar were supposed to have the highest damage.

So, circling around them and/or engaging at range?

>Imperial scribe enters the lower decks of the emperor class battleship "HIS BURNING HATRED"
>Meets a local guide who has agreed to take him to the local village below the ammo magazine where he is to speak with the village elder
>On his way there they encounter several spear chucking native ratings who wear these tattoos and seem to belong to the artillery crew, based on the hats they wear
>Upon arrival to the village the scribe angers the chief by implying that his village is a tiny part of a large "ship" and that his god "the great Re-Ak-Tor" is a false one
>The tribe sacrifices him by casting him to the open mouth of the great Re-Ak-Tor
>Tech priests shoo them away and clean up the scribes remains from the reactor while chanting the rites of apology to the ships machine spirit

Is that game good?

It's pretty gud.

btw, does anyone know how Rear-Admiral Drawfag is doing these days?
i really liked his works.

Is it like Dawn of War in space? I miss all the base building.

Nope. You fly the ships into bathul and fight. You can issue orders, and upgrade individual ships so that they gain abilities like brief invulnerability, micro warp jump and so on.

Ha. So like Gratuitous Space Battles.
Okay, so not for me, sorry.

I'm having lots of fun, though so far I only like two of the factions. SM sound like they will be exactly what I want though

No, unlike GSB you actually control your ships.
Honestly, pretty much the only similarity between the two is the fact that there are ships in space.

Why not check out some gameplay videos on Youtube? Or just buy the game and don't play it past 2 hours so you can get a refund if you don't like it?

Most gameplay videos have "funny" commentary by some self-important retard who thinks his joke and his face are more important than the game.
I'd rather ask Veeky Forums.

i'm lurking aaround, fellow admiral, even if the comunication with battlefleet Veeky Forums has been erratic this last weeks.
not much news on the front of new artworks, nor progressing the older ones..

You pick your ships prior to the battle from your ship roster.
You can either use a handful of capitol ships or over a dozen escorts.

SWORD SPAM SUPREME!

I understand, and I'm sorry, but that's not my kind of game. I just love me base building and I can't like a strategy game that doesn't let me do so.
A shame, because the game looks fun.

Which ones did you finish btw?
Latest one i think i saw you make was the "Fly me closer" one.
Could you dump some of your art into this thread?
