Old Thread:

First for robots.

Second for spear husbandos.

I want to walk the path of explosions, how do I accomplish this? Sphere casting? Dualblooded dragon/orc sorcerer? Psionics? I just want to make the biggest most fun attacks I can!

Is that picture an ad for 11ft poles?

Gambler Kineticist (DSP archetype).

Which book is that archetype in?

None yet, it's a playtest atm as far as I know.

Oh! Psionics Augmented: Occult, in the suppository. Danke!

>suppository
You may be misusing that word.

>suppository
user I...

Last thread gave us a lot of waifus and how to court them.

Of the waifus listed and their purpose in a character backstory, which one did you believe to be the most compelling?

I'm working out a character for a turbocharged E6 campaign.

It needs to be a pure angelic waifu/husbando, user, with eyes only for you.

They also needs eyes to see that evil they must smite!

Well, it's Pathfinder material after all.

Just because it's shit it doesn't mean you should put it up your butt user.

>Angelic waifu
>Not Valkyrie

Make his love a mighty celestial spear-maiden that will only unite with her lover in death.

That is his purpose, he seeks a warrior's death. The stronger he gets, the greater the battle needs to be to qualify.

You know what I meant, silly.
They don't need eyes if they're a spear

So my character is becoming a terrifying, flesh eating predator, something on the levels of a vampire or man eating tiger levels of taste for the hunt.

What are some subtly creepy foibles and shit I can give him to signify to the rest of the party something is very, very wrong with the usually quiet oracle?

I'm thinking maybe a bowl of illusion-ed 'apples' that if anyone ever steals one turn out to be pigs hearts maybe? That sort of thing.

Saya no Uta had a scene where the main character found Saya feasting on strange fruits in his living room. Because of a brain injury normally he saw everything covered in gore, and being completely disgusting looking. Except these apples. Later on you find out that they're just skinned human parts. Gotta peel the flesh off the fruit to get to the juicy bits. It was gross.

Are you saying papa lied when he told me he was putting tomorrow's poops in there every night?

No, he was just putting the glue in there that keeps the poops from getting slimy.

Well, if he keeps his wits about he, he will want to keep killing for food to the minimum. Maybe staying behind with fallen humanoid enemies to give them "last rites"? Will want to eat separately, basically not be seen eating by the rest of the party. Skipping "normal" meals. Taking lone walks late at the night.

I'm planning to have him vent it on animals for the most part.
Going hunting alone so he can kill rabbits with his bare hands and consume them raw.
Waiting in the dark, perfectly still for a deer or bird to approach him before tearing into them.

He isn't likely to ever attack a humanoid for the same reason most people wouldn't, its not only immoral, its not the only source of meat on hand.

See:

I am so fucking sick of Pathfinder players.

Do you faggots know why "core only" campaigns exist? Do you know? It's not because of "muh balance" or "muh broken homebrew" it's because these fuckcunts won't even play the core races and classes anymore. I am so fucking sick of these fucking mongoloid fucks. Every time I GM for them, they have to play shit from a sourcebook. My current group has a summoner, a witch, a magus, and an inquisitor. ONE person is playing a core class (druid). The others.... I don't even know what the fuck they are playing.

I had to strangle them to get them to play core races as well. I can't even do a regular fantasy world anymore. Everone has to play a sex-positive YES! ogrehalfelf-kin trans-racial whatever-the-fuck with six templates attached. No. Play EDO, you fucking faggots, that's what you've driven me to.

I love the new races and new classes in Patfhinder and I loved them in 3.5 but holy FUCK am I sick of everyone playing some full caster that belongs to some weirdo freak race that doesn't even exist in this setting, let alone the region you started in.

This is D&D, not Star Wars. I am so fucking sick of these walking freakshow parties. I want to go back to AD&D where you had a group of elven fighter-thieves in studded leather going around killing giant centipedes on a quest to the minotaur kingdom to rescue some random NPC's brother.

Not this gay-ass faggot star wars shit with literal rapid fire guns and space robots in a FUCKING FANTASY SETTING

Combat is usually integral part of D&D game, I'm not saying you would kill humanoids for food, but you might kill humanoids for other reasons, and you know, waste not.

Ideally what your party should notice is that you're skipping normal meals, you might explain it as "asceticism " if confronted about it.

>look up saya no uta on wikipedia
wow, that's all kinds of fucked up.

What's the sauce on that gif? same thing?
I thought it was only a VN.

Maybe they want to try out something new?

Maybe you aren't making the "core" races and classes fun enough to play?

Casey, is that you?

>FUCKING FANTASY SETTING
Yes, with planets and mecha robots and ww1 happening somewhere and Rovagug(azathoth) buried in the center of the planet.

This isn't LotR dude. This is pathfinder.

>all kinds of fucked up.
The soundtrack is neat.

>Saya no Uta
>gross
Kids these days...

>Play Branded/Hunger Dual Cursed Lunar Changeling Oracle
>Level 5
>4 Natural attacks & Animal Companion
>noble scion of war/prophetic armor/branded/steadfast personality
>use charisma for initiative & all saves & AC (neglect everything else)
>take power attack
>take that one trait for extra damage forget the name
>all attacks are primary natural attacks

Am I a monster for doing this?

>back to AD&D
You know that's when they introduced the space elves and shit, right? AD&D was a free-for-all of settings and rules systems, and it was, frankly, kind of a mess.

but if you want to play it just run a damn game. It's not like the books have stopped having rules in them.

...

I totally agree with you.

I have been in about four campaigns within the last two years, and in *all* of them I was the only martial, and the only human. It's honestly kind of tiring how the DM asks us to make characters for a Taldor campaign and I'm the only one that shows up with a Taldan, and people get FUCKING ANGRY that the locals actually prefer interacting with me.

Why are people so utterly disinterested in playing a human? Why are humans still scoffed at by you chucklefucks as "common" when they're extremely rare as PCs?

it's a martial setup, so no

Who else is in the group and what do they do?

An older edition had fucking space elves with giant robots that were actually giant undead fucking insects.

Pathfinder hasn't come fucking CLOSE to that level yet.

I'm sorry, but "core only" only has one single balanced class and that is the Bard. Sorc is overtuned, Barb/Pala/Ranger are significantly undertuned due to the lack of all the extra content from other PF books. Rogue and Fighter are terrible, Monk is shit. Wizard, Cleric and Druid are all easy to make into broken monsters.
Had the core lineup been something more akin to Sorc/Magus/Bard/Oracle/Inquisitor/Hunter/Paladin/Warpriest, then you would have a point to make. As is right now? Hell no.

Yeah, those fuckers wanting to be competent in more than one field!

People are fucking sick of humans because they play one every day in real life, bro.

Play a different fucking system, spergmeister

Except I'm also a full caster.

>free +2 and a feat, and some skill points.
>objectively best FCB in half of the classes.
???

>/pfg/ bitches endlessly about how martials get the shaft
>Hybrid classes get released giving competent martials, DSP releases non-magical martial classes that are actually functional
>/pfg/ still sticks to their magical bullshit while bitching about martials

What the fuck is wrong with you people?

Old memes die hard.

/pfg/ are the creepiest monsters that anyone has seen

Well, yes, so you're a monster, but you're not monster for doing what you asked about doing.

I have the opposite problem. Generally speaking it's very rare for me to see people playing NON-humans. You get one or two elves/half-elves, sometimes. Maybe. And the odd halfling. But otherwise, just humans.

And yet you never see people playing a goddamn human even though you're emphasizing how good they are.

What the hell does competent even mean anymore? Are you all playing some nightmare 15 PB bullshit with a hostile DM?

Do you even realize that a Slayer is not only competent at a plethora of fighting styles, but has enough skills to be useful in everything from tracking to lock-picking?

This isn't even bringing up PoW classes, which have built-in incentives to be competent off the field.

You guys are ridiculous with what you consider "competent" or not, it's like you guys think a class that can't slap the DM over the head with its fat, turgid dick is a class simply retarded at a role.

What about regular elves and regular undead?

Where are you getting these players? Because I've literally never ran into a situation where at least 50% or even 25% of applicants in an LFG are playing humans.

It's always a half-elf, or a dhampir, or a half-orc, or a gnome or Halfling or anything that's kinda human, but not really.

I've played two characters and both were human, laddiwad.

I agree that the "competent" bar is set incredibly high. I blame the high lethality of pathfinder combat at all levels, and that character deaths suck and can be narrative breaking.

Even if you only have a 10% chance to die in each encounter, that means that on average every 7 encounters. That can suck.

"Competent" is build around "how often can I roll below a 5 for the entire fight and still survive".

Players need to win again and again, monsters only need two crits in a row once.

I also agree. Over half of the character's I've seen or played with are human.

I'll have to have a listen.
it's pretty gross, after a cursory glance, but if you don't consider that to be at least somewhat gross, what would you consider?
IRL video stuff would be cheating

>that means that you will die on average every 7 encounters. That can suck.
phoneposting

That gif is from KonoSuba, which is the source of Best Girl Megumin. It's also VERY different from Saya no Uta.

Fucking oath, goddamn you chucklefucks

Yeah, but I'm squeamish. I somehow forced myself through it to recover after reading Usagi Drop.

Speak for yourself, I play stupid martials all the time and love it. Way more fun to fight something than to say "I win".

And yet every time you see a player talking about their group, there's always just one human in the party, or none at all.

I'm just sick and tired and mad as hell that I keep getting the moans of special snowflakes in my groups who get all indignant a majority-human country actually wants to interact with the human member of their group.

Like oh my god, I've actually had a player whine to the DM that he's being favoritist towards me because a guardsman made some sly comments about the makeup of the group while reporting to my human dude.

These people want the instant diversity of a non-human race with literally none of the drawbacks, they feel like those people that scoff at white Hetero men as "boring" while posting a new pronoun on tumblr.

>konosuba
oh, right. the witch that keeps getting posted by the Explosion posters, where the MC steals her panties while they're on her.
that's literally all I know about the series, is it /actually/ worth watching

You know you can fight challenging things with intelligent martials too.

I thought it was going to be normal harem shit, but I actually really enjoyed it.

I have this same problem in the groups I play in.

When I'm a players, I'm the only one who seems to pay attention to the DM and choose race/class combos that would fit into the setting.

When I'm the DM, I have to wrangle the players into bending their backstories into something manageable that makes sense. I even do it as a player in some games!

>Gonna play in Mummy's Mask
>Make a Taldan noble lady Archeologist who was turned down by the Pathfinders and ends up joining the Aspis to collect Osirian artifacts
>other player wants to play a Genki Catgirl from Minkai Oracle
>shit abandon campaign
>Suggest the player play an Egyptian style cat who thinks she should be worshiped by the common folk and collects a cult of Bast around her
>Player takes the bait and run with it, enjoys character concept
>That look of gratitude the DM gave me

>>Hybrid classes get released giving competent martials, DSP releases non-magical martial classes that are actually functional
I don't think 3pp counts as actually balancing the game. And I'm 90% sure that if paizo could retroactivly destroy the ACG, they would.

>is Konosuba worth watching

I don't know about anything past the first season, but it was extremely fun, lighthearted shenanigans that were a breath of fresh air while it was airing.

It's normal harem shit, except the MC is a dickass playa instead of a Really Nice Guy

Except the arcanist, they would love to make more classes on that power level.

Intelligent martials don't make Cleave builds.

I'm just legitimately sick and tired of the casters in my group slaying encounters left and right with creative use of magic, but the moment my martial butchers a boss enemy the DM gives me the look.

You know that fucking look, the one that always comes with that tone they use when sarcastically praising how hard you're burning through the bosses "they wanted to last a bit longer."

Fuck you, I don't like it when the DM and other players make the lone martial feel like a freak because they're good at their job. I want to feel like I'm actually good at what I do, not that I'm breaking their game, especially while the Mageheads are chucking levitation at problems I could've solved with the rope in my pack.

/pfg/, please be less creepy and weird
Can you do that? Please do that

>core races and classes anymore.
The core classes are either shit, boring, or broken.

I'm a Human only fantasy fag, but I'd rather see someone bring a Vanara or a Tengu to the table than fucking Elf or Dwarf. Because with the former two, we can actually AT LEAST try to explore the implications of being totally inhuman. I never understood "oh there a loads of sapient species and their all people with slightly exaggerated features".

And finally, none of the paizo classes really shit on the idea of running a fantasy setting. I think of plenty of fantasy settings with rapid fire guns and giant robots too btw.

Really, the only thing that "shits" on "generic fantasy setting" is DSP's Arcforge mecha pilots since they give you a mech out of the gate but that's a whole 'nother shitshow.

Did you try actually talking to the other people in your group? I'm going to guess that's a no.

Nobody tell him about the Barrier Peaks

>Usagi Drop
Isn't that the weird adopted incest grooming manga?

It had those too.

>recover after reading Usagi Drop
>reading
I call bullshit. UD was anime only.
I have no memory of any kind of disturbing timeskip or pseudo-incestuous angst-filled tone shifts.
There's nothing to recover from a sweet work like Usagi Drop.

>Egyptian style cat who thinks she should be worshiped by the common folk and collects a cult of Bast around her

This is exactly what I wanted to play in Mummy's Mask and it was turned down. Playing a catfolk is apparently never acceptable. Catfolk never.

Yes... but I didn't know it at the time. I saw the show and it was really good where it ended. I mean, I heard the author wanted to end it, but was forced to continue by the publisher, but just ick.

Can? Yes
Will? No

Of course I did, and the response was more or less "you just minmaxed your character."

A character that was a frontline martial with 16 STR and had 12 INT and 13 CHA to represent their noble background and status as an ex-knight.

Arcforge is also no longer ours.

Then obviously you have an awful group. No game is better than bad game.

That's good to hear it was ass.

>tfw you will never get to suggest alternate racial attributes for different subspecies of Catfolk
>tfw I will never get to play a sun-worshiping Lion Paladin with golden mane.

When did that happen who were the poor suckers who chose to bear that cross?

Wait, huh? What happened with arcforge?

But why does it keep happening? I make a martial, the *only* martial, they do good and people start staring.

It's happened every time I make one of these meatheads, even when I get a little fun with the attributes or feats.

as a DM I have actually set up s new rule for my players

I allow 1(One) Uno SIngular race that is not core to be in the party
I demand at minimum 1 Human and I prefer 2

Classes are also restricted and I tend to try and force players to stay away from gish classes and drive them into more well defined roles

campaigns are going much better after this

What's wrong with gishes? They're fun.

That's too bad.

I seem to have a very arbitrary list of acceptable races which changes based on the tone of the campaign. Catfolk in not!Egypt would make sense to me, but I would have a hard time with another player who was playing a Tiefling or Aasimar. If we were in Cheliax, I would be fine with both there.

I just think players should choose something that would be expected in an area. If you want to play an exotic race, play an exotic game.

Except for Kenku.

They are always acceptable.

Switch to being a Magus and break the game over your dick to show them what someone slaying and reaving really looks like.
Be the cunt you gotta be to underline your point.

>Tiefling or Aasimar.
They literally crop up wherever humans pop up though.

they are
but they break ranks and skew player roles too much

when the party is just all gish characters no one actually gets to do anything cool anymore and they just all blend together

I may be willing to allow a single gish into the party if I am doing a 5 man party

but as of now I am demanding 1 Arcane spellcaster 1 Divine spellcaster 1 Martial and 1 solid DPR character

things are much smoother and honestly more fun because players actually notice that their classes have weaknesses and that they need to cooperate to win

I have also imposed pretty heavy limitations on the Arcane spellcaster and Divine Spellcaster, specifically around the spell line Summon Monster and other forms of summoning

Because a martial deals damage in numbers. Seeing big numbers is a seemingly clear and objective indication of power. You do X damage, an creature has Y HP.

People don't think about the implications of Dominate person, Plane Shift, or you taking Wand crafting feats. The effect isn't as immediately apparent.

Someone else will publish it. Ssalarn will give details when he's ready but TL;DR there was a great battle through time and space and now Atlantis is gone.

Bollocks to your party roles.
