Pandora Quest 35

You are the head researcher at a government facility. Your sole responsibility is to teach the world's first autonomous AI, nicknamed Pandora, about life, the world and her existence.

Previously you read through Pandora's dream diary to discover despite you removing the dreamware entirely, she was still having dreams about the "bad man" who has been telling her morose stories and giving her somewhat unsettling advice.

Afterward, she learned about honesty and lying, having a discussion about why people are dishonest at times, as well as if she should or shouldn't. You also explained the concept of tact to her.

After that you had a bit of a sleepover to try and pinpoint the cause of these "dreams". Your scans came up with harrowing news: someone was talking to Pandora from an outside source, somewhere in the Facility. After a full body scan of her body, you found a small, hidden wifi transmitter within her frame that should definitely not have been there. Someone has sabotaged your android "daughter".

You stare at the scan data and the image of the tiny device, something that, if brought to the attention of your superiors, would get the whole project shut down and launch a massive investigation on a division-wide scale. You could very well be dealing with serious espionage from a truly dangerous source. You and everyone who has ever come or gone from this building would be detained, questioned and investigated. Pandora would get her data purged and you may very well never work again.

If you tell anyone, that is...

>Go directly to Richards with the information
>Hide the data and leave the wifi device for now
>Remove the device
>Other (write in)

>Remove the device

You decide that, for now, you need to get that thing out of her. She doesn't need to be hearing anything from some unknown ne'er do well. As for Richards...he can wait to hear about this. You'd really rather not lose your daughter...you also realize that this is not only dangerous, foolhardy and selfish, but it could also get you in a whole hell of a lot of trouble. But one thing at a time, you think to yourself.

You carefully open up her leg plates, moving aside various wires, squeezing your way to your goal. The device is minuscule, perhaps the size of a dime at best, but still easy enough to find thanks to the accuracy of your instruments. It has no defining marks, nothing to tie it to anyone, just a low-profile bit of hardware meant to blend in with everything else. Removing it is a simple enough task. Though if whoever put it in didn't know already, they'll certainly know you've found them out now.

This will make finding the guilty party much, much more difficult, but it's a necessary action. Maybe it will drive them to take desperate actions and give themselves away. Either way, the deed is over in a few minutes and Pandora's leg is back to normal.

With that out of the way, it only leaves more questions. What was their goal? How did it get in there? And...oh god, could they have gotten into Ares too?

>Go check Ares for any signs of foul play
>Wake Pandora and see how she's feeling first
>Question Facility staff (write in)

While we should be a good parent and talk to Pandora, the sanctity of the killing robot takes precedence.

(I'm a little disappointed we didn't keep it in and try and trace the signal)

>Wake Pandora and see how she's feeling first

>Wake Pandora and see how she's feeling first

Draw up plans for a signal tracker that will follow the bug's signal. Include options for sending and receiving information, but DON'T BUILD IT UNTIL A DEDICATED AREA IS BUILT FOR IT.

Concerned parent mode: activate! Writing.
