In this case it just means that their personalities blur the lines between multiple colors. There are also game mechanics associated with each color, but a lot of them are abstract to the point that they matter very little when trying to translate characters.

For those of you who are unsure about a character, try using this.
Score each entry as -2/-1/0/1/2 based on how much they care/don't care/etc about that. How important it is to them. If they use it as a tool (positive!), if they despise it (negative!), etc.
Then tally everything up for each color, and look at the highest positive values - use your best judgement to pick if they're monocolor or dual color. Rarely will a character be tricolor, and almost never will a fictional character be four or five colors.

I'd say chief is also a bit blue on the account that he does all sorts of adrenaline rush shit like fighting an entire race of ayylmaos, and launching himself+ayylmao nuke at an ayylmao battleshit, while his character manages to stay cool, calm, and collected.
