FIRST FOR BLACK SHIELDS

Using Militia and Cults rules for decking out a Force Commander, how could one make Captain Catachan?

regimental-standard.com/2016/06/29/captain-catachans-jungle-fighting-tips/

Got I love Catachans

>IT AINT ME

>IT AINT ME

Mr. Imperium signing off. We're all suffering in the Age of Darkness, but turning to Horus's side isn't going to lessen the pain. Here's the only painkiller I need. m.youtube.com/watch?v=UJ4Nel-aHZM
For future references, listening to this won't lessen the pain from charging a Death Star formed of Traitor Primarchs(with body guard) and Scoria.
Survivors of the Dark Age might be a key to it I think?

Force Commander [Planetary Overlord, Infravisor, Meltabombs, Carpace Armor, Charnabal Sabre (To represent his catachan knife), Bolt pistol/Hand Flamer]
Warlord Trait- Connoisseur of Alien Curious (Fear and IWND) to represent his knowledge in the enemy

Now someone should roll to create this character with the character advancement tables.

How would you rate all the support cadre bundles when it comes to starting an army and how useful what's inside them are?

The Word Bearers one for example has both the Ashen Circle and Gal Vorbak, but how useful is the bundle when it comes to adding units to your army?

Seventh for the Raven Guard.

Those traps and delts make me wet on the tip. 30k Catachans would be the only way I'd get into starting an IM force.

I'd say this instead.

Captain Catachan, Force Commander, 50 points.
>Bolt Pistol, +2
>Master Crafted Charnabal Sabre, +15
>Power Armor (ABS OF CERAMITE), +10
>Planetary Overlord, +20
>Digital Lasers (Supreme Catachan training allows an extra attack, of course!), +5
>Feral Warriors Provenance, +35
>Blade and Fury bonus, +25
>Gene-crafted, +100
>WT, Connoisseur of Alien Curios.

Truly, there is none tougher than Captain Catachan.

>*Please disregard Captain Catachan’s colloquial mannerisms. While initially vulgar, rest assured, you will soon find them endearing.
>** Do not do this. Any trooper caught resting on their own intestines will face summary execution.
>*** Disregard this – your Munitorum-issue combat blades make excellent knives as well as exceptional potato peelers.
>**** Do not repeat this derogatory remark about the Emperor’s noble Tempestus Scions. Especially if they can hear you.
>***** Life expectancy upon entering death world war zone: 18 hours.
>the second to fourth one
>mfw

So from that, his statline would be:

WS 4 BS 4 S4 T3 W3 I4 A4 Ld8 Sv3+

Right?

Alright before I go to bed for real this time what do the rations for SA taste like? Actual food?
regimental-standard.com/2016/06/15/your-new-diet-plan/
>A new selection of quick snacks for the Guardsman on the go replace your traditional oat loaf bars. Despite scandalous rumours you may have heard, these are not simply repackages of food destined for domesticated felines, and are in fact carefully balanced micro-meals providing all the goodness you need for a meal in a few juicy mouthfuls. They are available in two delicious flavours – fish and rodent.

Rolled 5, 3, 3 = 11 (3d6)

I'd still give him the infravisors and meltabombs, a man of his experince wouldnt be found going in the dark without infravisors.

Im just gonna make a character out of him.

What's wrong with the Legion Preytor Tribune rules?

Aren't the SA the Elite and Nobility or summat? Pretty sure they'd get good food.

I thought they were the best of any void faring empire brought into the Imperial fold. Right? So they're better than some hive noble's inbred son at being the Emperor's regular soldiers?Hopefully they have enough recaff.
regimental-standard.com/2016/06/22/the-perfect-mug-of-recaff/
>**** With moderate regret, we report that Sergeant Brosk was killed by a Hive Tyrant six weeks after making this statement. It is believed that a recaff shortage was instrumental in his demise.

+1I and I rolled once on the command traits to get Coordinated Reserves so +1 to reserve rolls, so if Captain Catachan had the Ruthless Tyrant warlord trait he could have +2 to reserves...

Wouldn't that mean in a duel Captain Catachan would have I6 thans to his sabre?

Why are the Imperial Fist so based?

So with Angels of Caliban, is Curze/Lion tsundere-hateshipping gonna be a thing or what?

A part of me says "NOPE NOPE NOPE" but another says "hell yeah!"

There's so many reasons.

No gimmicks. Really good with bolters and Siege equipment. Much like modern day militaries.Their soldiers are loyal and has insanely low traitor rates. Dorn was a good man, he had his flaws but nothing more than the average guy. Sigismund and One Punch Man is a bad ass. Black Templars and Crimson Fists are cool.

After the Heresy instead of standing around dumbfounded at the events, they went after Purterabo and while that might have not been advised, they did chase them back into the warp

Speaking of Fists, how the heck do people use Phalanx Warders in a non Stone Gauntlet list? 10 in a Land Raider or Dreadclaw? I'm debating just building them with bolters and calling them breachers.

I hadn't read their rules yet. Pic related is my reaction.

They're melee Breachers but you have to pay for the fucking melee weapons. And it's only a power axe. I'm sure they'll survive any armor 2 unit they go against long enough to be able to use those unwieldy weapons!

Garbageman.exe

Yeah that's kinda how I felt. Now I've got 10 Phalanx Warder upgrades sitting on my desk and I've got no clue what to do with them. This is what happens when you impulse buy forgeworld on Brexit day.

WHERE ARE THE LEAKS

I still can't decide between Word Bearers and Deathguard.

Colorscheme wise, Deathguard look better, but seem harder, while Word Bearers look nice as well and seem easier.

Fluff wise, I love the Word Bearers and am okay with the Death Guard.

Primarch wise I love Lorgar, but meh on Morty.

Unique Units wise I love the Ashen Circle, okay on Gal Vorbak, and I think that the Mhara Gal has one of the best models in the game, but some of the worst rules. I think Deathshroud and Grave Wardens are absolutely awesome, and you can run a pretty cool and fluffy list that incorportates both with Pride of the Legion.

Unique Wargear wise, Word Bearers stuff seems really cool, and making al your important dudes chaos-blessed psykers sounds awesome. Death Guard have some cool stuff as well, but Gets Hot! On chem-munitions turns me off from it.

Hmmm....

I even got out of the tub just to make sure they had 2 attacks base.

They don't even have that. So bad.

Yeah they were my first Forgeworld purchase where I bought on aesthetics instead of actually looking at the stats and how they could fit in my army. A ten man squad of them with axes and toys is 400 points. Plus 100 for a Dreadclaw. That's a Knight Crusader in points and I'd rather have the giant robot with 6 guns.

I use them for MKIV breachers because MKIV is the best power armor mark and the other marks wish they were half as good.

Of what?

I'll tell you what I did for my Death Guard I sold. Basic, honestly.

>Prime gray
>Rakarth flesh armor
>Pallid Wych flesh
>Agrax that fucking thing
>Caliban Green on Shoulder pads
>Leadbelcher on metal bits
>Agrax/Nuln again

Now, get Secret Weapon pigment. I used Terracotta earth, but it works for any of them. Just dab that shit in any joints, on the front armor, and all around the feet. Drybrush the base with it after using some cracked earth paint or mud paint, and you've got it.

Thanks for the inspiration, user. How do you outfit your breachers?

>Gets Hot! On chem-munitions turns me off from it
Chem-munitions are optional on everything except Deathshroud (and Grave Wardens, if you take flamer weapons at all).

as Alpha legion I plan to either go with flamers and breaching charge on the sergeant to make them even nastier when recieving a charge and then going Allah ackbar when challenged :^) otherwise melta or volkite seems neat.

Volkite seems good imop, high str weaponry with defent anti mob rules and has decent range.

That sounds pretty interesting user, got any pics of them?

While true, it turns me off of one of their unique wargear options, as well as me liking Deathshroud and Grave Wardens a lot means that I'd love to field them in large amounts.

Sell them on eBay and get Crusaders? Crusaders are pretty great.

The only thing you could do to justify the point cost is stick Dorn, Sigismund or One Punch Man and using them as a meaty bodyguard squad. WS5 will keep you hitting on 3s most of the time instead of guarding him with majority WS4 Terminators. Their special shield rule is garbage because you HAVE to charge with them to get damage and it's not like WS6 helps you defensively.

I don't know, they're just garbage and you're going to be weighed down by them every game.

just like breachers!

I'm considering two ten man breacher squads for a 500pt blackshield list with the +1S +1T special rule. I believe they would be pretty cost effective at low points games.

Hey is this wrong/outdated, or am I misremembering the rules?

>From Beyond: Codex: Daemons become Battle Brothers (not Sworn Brothers. RAW that means Daemons can use your transports. FW, however, does not respond on this question and answers "Bloodletters charging from Spartan are cool" on Facebook) - Fielding Erebus/Kor Phaeron already gets you this.

Got that from the 1d4chan page. I thought Battle Brothers couldn't use transports? Or was it starting out in them?

Pretty sure it's starting out in them, the highest loyalty allows the use of shared transports.

don't think they are particularly useful compared to tacticals. their only saving grace is special weapons with abalative wounds and being more survivable versus quad mortars. but you give you a lot of offensive power (FOTL) for very little survivability. they should have a better invulnability save or invuln and FNP.

The strength in phalanx warders is in their breacher charges. A couple axes but maxed out breacher charges. At I S8 AP2

Nah. Base Imperial Fists Breachers are pretty great. They're a nuisance to remove and 30 rapid fire bolters at BS5 hurts.

People just put too many toys in them.

I was talking about making things easier for the Terminator squad by including a terminator IC with Shriekers.

3rd Company elite, sure, they get enough shriekers into base contact for it to matter, but for some lists I've seen here their MEQ killers are Palatine Blades, who can already purchase Shriekers and don't really care whether you're running 3rd Company Elite or not (Palatine Blades have the same initial cost as Furious Charge Vets with power weapons, and don't sacrifice their speed for AP2, not to mention they're WS5 already; extra power sword niggas cost the same for both squads: 25 pts).

As such, some would say the 3rd Company Elite cares more about improving Kakophoni rather than enhancing your other niggas.

Despoilers pulling off something similar to the DA are well and all, but wasn't there an user who said Despoilers existed merely because it was one of the better ways to run a taxical squad?

>Sonichu Breacher squad inflicting -1WS to the enemy whilst negating their +1 attack from charging
Mmmmhmmm.

Impulsive? Didn't you spend like three threads convincing yourself of buying them?
I don't know how to use them desu. I thought they were shooty, given their access to plasma guns and BS5 bolters (as if that did any damage).

Blackshields don't have access to FotL

ah sorry, not that well read on black shields - that makes breachers better then tacticals then, allthough I'm in love with tacticals with extra CCWS for flexibility - but again, I infil or scout them with mutable tactics.

Yeah but nobody really responded so it was just me talking to myself because I'm lonely. But I like the ideas in this thread

>The strength in phalanx warders is in their breacher charges. A couple axes but maxed out breacher charges. At I S8 AP2
This looks fun
>275 pts
It better be the best one-trick pony.

>Not remembering the BRB by the letter.
I'll invent the Comissariat and you'll report to them. Or give you some images, whatever is easier.

BUT I RESPONDED YOU BACK THEN, encouraging you

I didn't say they were GOOOD, but they're fun. They can also be pretty shooty and take plasma weapons too.

Thanks, mate!

Also, I've always wondered why people thought you could start out in BB's transports?

Hahaha exactly. Well either way I'm glad I could support FW a bit. I guess I'll wait til next week to build them and cross my fingers that plastic breachers are coming.

Probably because some units are in transports before the game begins, so obviously they embarked at some point. I'd have no problem with attaching a Malleus Inquisitor to a Grey Knights squad in a transport or something, but the Flesh Tearer Taxi service was ridiculous.

In 6th edition, it was true for 40k, and FW reiterated it for 30k.

In 7th edition it is no longer true for 40k, and FW have not clarified how they want it to work (like they did with, for example, scoring, which fundamentally changed between 6th edition and 7th edition).

Also the ambiguous distinction between Sworn Brothers and Battle Brothers is unhelpful. RAI it's probably intended that Sworn Brothers is the 30k replacement for the 40k Battle Brothers, the 40k Battle Brothers not being used and references to it being considered references to Sworn Brothers. It's not a watertight argument though.

Therefore, RAW, they are Battle Brothers (which allows them to share transports even at the beginning of the game) and not Sworn Brothers (so nothing prevents them from doing so).

They still can't deploy in someone else's Dedicated Transport. But vehicles with a transport capacity that are not bought as Dedicated Transports are fine.

As an ex-40k BA player I am glad that the new FAQ has put the Flesh Tearer taxi service to sleep. I've long since jumped ship to 30k but I still feel sympathy for my 40k brothers and hope to be able to return one day...

Wait, I just realized that since Captain Catachan also has his trusty Bolt Pistol, he'd come out to A5, unless the Sabre is a specialist weapon, and iirc, it isn't.

So what characters/units can Captain Catachan kill in melee? And can he really kill a Carnifex in melee as well, stat-wise?

They don't have access to tacticals, they have Marauders as a unique troop choice. Wow, they can take chain axes stock... and have a fuckton of choices. No bolters though....

No, the Carnifex would ID him 3 times over. He's wounding on 6s.

The only reason I don't play my Catachans in 30k is because we already have a profile for Captain Catachan and his name is IRON HAND STRAKEN.

God I've had some good games with Straken.

G'Night, /hhg/. May you have nice 30k dreams, I know I won't.

It's a hot mess, that's what it is

Getting into 30k forced me to find the based recasters of yore. Playing Blackshields and am I stoked to have a 500pt army on the way.

Would anyone be interested in a 30k version of hat Hunger Games thing? Our general is slow enough to host one.

Eh, why not?

If so, I need 24 people, preferably from multiple people. Posy image as well.

Captain Catachan is in.

need advice on most awesome deepstrike (non-pod) army.

Horus+40 Justaerin = in the lead

Fulgrim + 16 phoenix + 16 terms + eidolon + 20 assault = second place

Any other recommendations?

Sure. I've not a clue how to play though?

>As such, some would say the 3rd Company Elite cares more about improving Kakophoni rather than enhancing your other niggas.
Kakophoni is always a shit unit though and are surpassed by support squads with volkite calivers.

IMO the advantage is giving basic non-elite units buffs in CC. Imagine despoilers and assault marines that strike first like EC but also make their enemies -1 WS for a buff better than Dark Angels LA rules. Pretty much fuck BA wounding on 3+s, we hit on 3+s before the enemy even gets a chance to swing back. The EC have two main advantages from their LA rules, they are more likely to win (matched battles EC win because they strike first leaving fewer enemies to strike back) and something BA, DA, and WE lack is that they take less losses in combat because fewer enemies can swing back. Making them pseudo WS 5 tactical marines and shit simply makes both of those even better. Not a huge game changer but for the price of a chainsword while keeping their bolter it is often worth it.

People just need to post a 30k related image and name and I do the rest.

At least they get a bunch of free autoguns.
>Shitty Imperial Militia with +1 S/T
>Allies to blackshield chymeriae with +1 S/T and shitty autoguns
Enemy doesn't want to actually charge anything and you have massive amounts of S 3 dakka for killing terminators by forcing them to make hundreds of saves.

The Truth-Seeker.

The Guy That's Better At Hurting His Own Allies Than His Enemies.

Don't forget that BA have Day of Revelations where they get +1I on the charge just like EC. When charging using both their rites the two legions are effectively the same, except only praetors and centurions/consuls can take at I AP2 weapons for the BA.

BUILD WALL

Khaedes Nex from the Raven Gaurd holds the rank/designation "Moritat-Prime." Raven Guard helped solidify the idea of the Moritat in the legions so my question is do other legions have Moritat-Primes or is that a Raven Guard thing because Khaedes Nex was one of or possible thee first Moritat?
