Astartes Legion Creation Thread

During the time of the great crusade, the emperor finds you and realizes you are one of his lost sons, albeit perhaps a lazy one

After some ordeal he gives you command of your own legion whose astartes were sired using your genestock

From iron cometh strength! From strength cometh will! From will cometh faith! From faith cometh honour! From honour cometh iron!

Iron within, Iron without!

Byzantios the Purple, Sebastokrator of the Imperium of Man.
>>describe your talents as a primarch
Statesman, Artist, Philanthropist, King, and General. He is the ruler of an empire within an empire, and he rules with an iron rod.
>>what is the name of your legion?
The Kataphraktoi
>>what are its main tactics/characteristics?
Planetary invasions and compliance actions. Byzantios has brought many worlds to compliance throughout the crusade.
>>as a primarch, where do you land on the whole Council of Nikaea issue?
Byzantios fears the intricacies of the warp and warns against sorcery.
>>at the time of the heresy, who do you side with?
The Katakpraktoi remain loyal. They are struck by a surprise attack and quickly put on the defensive at the start of the war, slowly pushing their way Terra.
>>Describe some of your legion's most memorable victories/defeats
They defeated a xenos empire which spanned multiple systems. The Xenos were vile, tentacled monstrosities who could touch the warp. Byzantios razed all of their worlds from orbit in a coordinated strike, then rebuild functioning Imperial colonies in the ashes.

>>Leman Russ has been told that you and your legion are going to Chaos. Now his fleet is in your home planet's orbit. What do?
Invite him to parlay man to man and then beat him into submission (or try) when he arrives.
>>what's the major defect in your chapter's geneseed or traditions?
Kataphracts are extremely proud and haughty. They believe post-human Astartes are the true heirs to the galaxy, and humans are just a fetal stage for the species.
>>what is your signature weapon, vehicle, or other wargear, and why?
Byzantios has a massive land-speeder called the Quadriga. It has several mounted gun positions and has been used in battle only a handful of times.
>>after the Heresy, what is your former Legion's major deviation from the Codex - or what unique gift does your dark god give your Legion, now?
They use advanced drop-ship models rather than drop-pods.
>>what blandishments did Horus offer you to try to convince you to join?
He offered an empire that could last forever. Byzantios replied that the Emperor already gave him one.

>Shadow Fangs
>II Legion
>primarch Kalathis the Cruel
>specialists in survivalism and wilderness environment combat, as well as experimental and unorthodox tactics
>traitor
>homeworld located near several major Warp rifts, a Death World corrupted seven ways to Tuesday; think daemonic Zendikar with everything trying to kill you even harder
>purged for being literally too mutated to function

>describe your talents as a primarch
I'd probably be more of a scholarly primarch like Magnus, Lorgar or Perturabo. I would dedicate myself entirely to learning military strategy and conduct my legion on a more macro scale as opposed to doing a lot of fighting on the front lines. I also would be more adept at negotions or diplomacy than outright violence, though having a legion of transhuman super warrior does afford me some leverage. (Sidenote, I would totally be down for some Psyker skills)
>what is the name of your legion?
The Silver Guard. Our colors would be silver trimmed with purple and our heraldry would be a fox with a grey pelt
>what are its main tactics/characteristics?
Guerrilla warfare, infiltration and hit and run tactics. A fair fight is an oxymoron.
>as a primarch, where do you land on the whole Council of Nikaea issue?
I back Magnus fully and posit that humanity should be guided into its psychic evolution
>at the time of the heresy, who do you side with?
The Emperor and mankind

>Describe any special friendships/rivalries your legion has with any of the others
I doubt I would get along personally with the likes of Angron or Russ. I would enjoy working with Magnus on a personal level as well Khan and the Lion on a professional level. I also think that Corvus and I are of similair temperaments.
>Describe some of your legion's most memorable victories/defeats
Tough to say considering I am just now joining them
>Leman Russ has been told that you and your legion are going to Chaos. Now his fleet is in your home planet's orbit. What do?
Open communications and try to talk him down. If negotiations fail open fire and avoid letting his wolves make planetfall.

Pt. 2

>what's the major defect in your chapter's geneseed or traditions?
I imagine our combat doctrine would be frowned upon by strong warrior code types
>what is your signature weapon, vehicle, or other wargear, and why?
Having a jumpack would be neato. I also like the force Halberds the Grey Knights have so maybe one of those
>after the Heresy, what is your former Legion's major deviation from the Codex - or what unique gift does your dark god give your Legion, now?
I would have a much larger librarius and would work it into the chapter command structure
>what blandishments did Horus offer you to try to convince you to join?
Independence most likely. I chafe under authority

During the Crusade the Kataphractoi wear purple, gold, and red livery in honor of the Roman Empire of ancient Terra. Byzantios himself wears purple cataphract pattern terminator armor whose purple plate can only be peekead at through the finely wrought golden filigree.

Balthasar the Bloody, Primarch of the Bloodhounds

>describe your talents as a primarch
Balthasar is unmatched among the primarchs in sheer brutal strength. He is a massive beast of a man with a mane of red fur/hair down his back and arms like blanca from street fighter
>what is the name of your legion?
The Bloodhounds.
>what are its main tactics/characteristics?
They hunt the enemies of mankind. When Eldar corsairs raid border worlds from an unseen eyrie, when the remnants of an Ork Waaagh must be hunted down and exterminated, and when subversive elements plot and scheme on compliant worlds, the bloodhounds are there to hunt. They can find any foe, root out any lair, and eradicate any force.
>as a primarch, where do you land on the whole Council of Nikaea issue?
Balthasar is the strongest proponent of censure and an end to all sorcery. He thinks of it as vile witchcraft and superstition.
>at the time of the heresy, who do you side with?
The heretics. Balthasar is tricked into killing loyalists, and when he realizes he has killed for treachery he goes mad with grief, turning into a wild beast of war. He eventually falls to Khorne.

>Describe any special friendships/rivalries your legion has with any of the others
The Bloodhounds don't get along with other legions because they are exceptionally brutal to their enemies and have little room for concepts like mercy. Most worlds are conquered and ruined rather than brought to compliance.
>Describe some of your legion's most memorable victories/defeats
Their raiding parties bring death and terror to the loyalists during the Heresy.
>Leman Russ has been told that you and your legion are going to Chaos. Now his fleet is in your home planet's orbit. What do?
Cry Havok, and unleash the dogs of war.

>what's the major defect in your chapter's geneseed or traditions?
Lots of time unshielded in the warp during the heresy leads to rampant mutation and possession.
>what is your signature weapon, vehicle, or other wargear, and why?
Balthasar wields a massive power-whip and an archaeotech pistol. Soldiers often prefer to have a close combat weapon and a pistol rather than a two handed bolter.
>after the Heresy, what is your former Legion's major deviation from the Codex - or what unique gift does your dark god give your Legion, now?
Daemonic warhounds and mounts. Think khorne daemonkin
>what blandishments did Horus offer you to try to convince you to join?
He offered them prey worthy of the hunt: astartes.

Part One.

>> Describe talents of Primarch.
Ace Pilot, Peerless Void Tactician, Values Independence and pragmatism, unusually high reflexes and eyesight.

>> Legion Name
Crimson Warhawks

>> Main Tactics / Characteristics
Covert Strike Teams, Void Combat, Aerospace Fighting, and Air-mobile Infantry (Rapid Redeployment)

>> Nikeae
For the use of Psykers, though very cautious of them, In support of his Brother Sanguinius however supported the White Scar Targutai Yesgei after his suggestion was raised.

>> Heresy
Sides with the Emperor - despite chaffing under the Emperors command and his edicts at Nikeae. mistrusting of Horus due to his popularity and glory hungry attitude, and being loyal to Sanguinuis after fighting closely.

>> Special Friendships
Blood Angels, White Scars. - The First due to a long history of war bonds, fighting together. The second due to similarities in doctrine.

>> Rivalries
Death Guard, Raven Guard - The first due to disagreements between the Primarchs, the second a rivalry as infiltration experts.

Part Two.

>> How to fight Russ attacking your home-world.
Due to void combat speciality, The chapter should be able to engage (somewhat successfully) the Wolf Fleet, though if not able to defeat outright the Wolf Fleet - they would withdraw from the system temporarily, allowing the Wolves to descend. Once transport shuttles are launched they would be engaged by hidden batteries and engaged by swarms of aerospace fighters. The ground battles would be largely mobile defence, focusing on delay battles in order to attrit the Space Wolves without decisive engagement. Relying on Sabotage, Raids, and Ambush - denying prolonged engagment and rapidly redeploying.

This would likely enrage Russ and he would begin to commit more and more land forces - to which the War Hawks would respond with further evasion, even reducing their kinetic activities to remain undetected.

The Fleet would then return to conduct raids on the Space Wolf Fleet (now less heavily defended) - and once it is incapacitated - the War Hawks would concentrate on isolating Wolf forces, overwhelming small elements and engaging large elements with orbital bombardment.

>> Major defect in geneseed
higher reflexes and superior eyesight, ageing is not as delayed as it should be, limiting their life span significantly (for Astartes)
traditions include honour tattoos, and prestige naming.

>> Signature Weapons & Wargear
Aerial Transports & Gunships. Unique Power Armour that focuses on silent movement and stealth fields.

>> Deviation from the Codex
Unique organisation of independent strike teams rather than typical battle companies, and is governed by a council of strike captains rather than a Chapter Master.

>> Horus promised revenge on Primarchs like Russ and full independence, he would be given autonomy within the galaxy, able to craft his own empire if he wished or wander endlessly, to follow his every whim.

>describe your talents as a primarch
Sandwiches, flailing, misunderstanding basic galactic concepts

>what is the name of your legion?
hoopy froods

>what are its main tactics/characteristics?
all astartes carry a towel, chaplains wear a bathrobe that mirrors that of their primarch abeit smaller.

>as a primarch, where do you land on the whole Council of Nikaea issue?
missed the council, spent the time outside chatting with someone who claimed to be alpharius

>at the time of the heresy, who do you side with?
sandwich

>Describe any special friendships/rivalries your legion has with any of the others
the remembrances knew many ways to make a sandwich, we traded secrets in the dark.

>Describe some of your legion's most memorable victories/defeats
In orbit around Murder we perfected the sextuple decker roast beef and swiss manwich. Missed the entire campaign.

>Leman Russ has been told that you and your legion are going to Chaos. Now his fleet is in your home planet's orbit. What do?

Prepare him the most well constructed sandwich he's ever seen. He cries at the added buttresses and the cold beefy eyes of our father's likeness.

>what's the major defect in your chapter's geneseed or traditions?
We cannot truly enjoy the sandwiches we create.

>what is your signature weapon, vehicle, or other wargear, and why?
We carry our towels, as an old xenos prophet once instructed us to carry.

>after the Heresy, what is your former Legion's major deviation from the Codex - or what unique gift does your dark god give your Legion, now?

The towel, everyone questions the towel. Do they not know how useful a towel can be? I've seen worlds fall into compliance by our towels alone.

>what blandishments did Horus offer you to try to convince you to join?
He offered a second set of hands for sandwich crafting, I told him the only hands that can craft a perfect sandwich are those our father gave us to craft the worlds of man into his empire.

Tiberius Faust

>describe your talents as a Primarch
alchemist,sorcerer,tyrant and madman

>what is the name of your legion?
The Jade Pyres. colors are green and black.

>what are its main tactics/characteristics
Alchemical and exotic energy weapons(photon thrusters, volkite guns,rad-cleansers,phosphex ,etc) utter annihilation of target civilization

>as a Primarch, where do you land on the whole Council of Nikaea issue?
The warp is no more dangerous than the phosphex weapons we currently use and thus we use it when it is beneficial to do so.

>describe your talents as a primarch
A scholarly school of talents mostly helpful off the battlefield yet built large and strong with some small psychic talent
>what is the name of your legion?
Fist of mars
>what are its main tactics/characteristics?
Mechanized warfare
>as a primarch, where do you land on the whole Council of Nikaea issue?
I believe it goes too far and that psykers are children of the divine as the emperor surely is a god
>at the time of the heresy, who do you side with?
I remain loyal after briefly wavering
>Describe any special friendships/rivalries your legion has with any of the others
I make friends with both fulgrim and and magnus, both of which almost guide me to chaos
>Leman Russ has been told that you and your legion are going to Chaos. Now his fleet is in your home planet's orbit. What do?
I state that we are loyal to the last man and ask russ for trail by any means he wishes
>what's the major defect in your chapter's geneseed or traditions?
My right hand is crippled from weakened nerves and so to are my chapter's sons weakened in kind
>what is your signature weapon, vehicle, or other wargear, and why?
The right hand is removed and replaced with a custom integrated weapon or tool different for each marine
>after the Heresy, what is your former Legion's major deviation from the Codex - or what unique gift does your dark god give your Legion, now?
We look to the machine to much to fully fall within the Codex as exemplified in the machine right hand
>what blandishments did Horus offer you to try to convince you to join?
As my right hand failed me more and more as i grew the pain and depression was clear for all to see, horus played on my weakness and promised me a new angelic hand to replace mine and foolishly i accepted, when his warp power began to run into my arm i cut it off in horror and covered up my failing by cutting the arm off beginning the tradition of the chapter

Horus because I made a dozen or so garden worlds into poison hellscapes

>Describe any special friendships/rivalries your legion has with any of the others
most legions strongly disliked me due to my no holds barred approach to warfare, arcane experiments and crystalline mutations. Mortarion,Angron and Perturabo were the closest of my brothers.

exterminated an entire xenos empire (think crusade era tau) in a single week turning their worlds into planet sized glowing seas

Bumping

Editing and reposting from almost two years ago.

I am Kashaln, Primarch and Son of the Emperor

>describe your talents as a primarch
Personal Combat, Infantry Command, Inspiration/Morale
>what is the name of your legion?
The Silver Spears
>what are its main tactics/characteristics?
Infantry fighting both en masse and in squads, balance between offence and defense, honor duels
>as a primarch, where do you land on the whole Council of Nikaea issue?
Utter indifference, but I sided with the Emperor for networking reasons
>at the time of the heresy, who do you side with?
Horus, specifically allying myself to Slaanesh

>Describe any special friendships/rivalries your legion has with any of the others
I met Fulgrim and Ferrus Manus as a pair, and I hate them as a pair. One sees war as nothing more than a grinding of bare strength and endurance, and the other seeks to prettify the affair, as if his legion has something to prove. My sons know the glory of battle, but they do not forget its nature, which is why they shared my disdain on the legionary level.
We liked the Imperial Fists, if only for the silver-gold contrast. Dorn was the steadfast sort, never letting his composure or his warriors slip. Frankly, I admired much about him. That is why I now find Perturabo’s little prank to be so hilarious– no mortal deserves admiration from me.
>Describe some of your legion's most memorable victories/defeats
I once stopped a battle against the Raven Guard before it started by slaying three enemy praetors in combat. They “melted back into the forest” as they like to put it, and we were free to chase or ignore them at our leisure. I say the hidy legion should stick to hiding.
Archelus and Chineldu once lost over 2,000 legionaries in a battle with the Orkz because each was trying to get one over on the other by achieving the perfect tactical encirclement. Vid-feed showed that Archelus’ line had a few gaps in it, so I executed him.

>Leman Russ has been told that you and your legion are going to Chaos. Now his fleet is in your home planet's orbit. What do?
Welcome the fight, but mock his ass. You don’t seem the type for sneak attacks, Russ. How about we meet on this field at this time and really see who’s really the better of the two?

>what's the major defect in your chapter's geneseed or traditions?
No geneseed problems, but radiation was a hell of a drug even before we started growing tentacles. Also, we generally disdain fighting those we see as unchallenging, such as the Militarum or the Tyranids.
>what is your signature weapon, vehicle, or other wargear, and why?
A special type of rad-beam weapon for combi-weapons, devastators, terminators, and rapiers. Also using spears in melee more often than not.
>after the Heresy, what is your former Legion's major deviation from the Codex - or what unique gift does your dark god give your Legion, now?
Slaanesh simply gives us the chance to be true warriors. We fight as we wish, deprave when the fancy takes us, and usually only ever die in battle.
>what blandishments did Horus offer you to try to convince you to join?
Unfortunately, the Emperor often sought to hold our martial society in check for some petty reason or another. It simply became too much to bear.

What about your name?

(cont)

>what's the major defect in your chapter's geneseed or traditions?
Mutated Ossmudula
generates green crystal instead of bone (think black dragons with Tiberium)

>what is your signature weapon, vehicle, or other wargear, and why?
Rad weapons,phosphex,volkite guns,photon thruster weapons.

>after the Heresy, what is your former Legion's major deviation from the Codex - or what unique gift does your dark god give your Legion now?
Not really into Chaos. probably start worshiping the Nightbringer and the Void Dragon.

>legion for ants

This is a cool thread. Here is a next-day bump for you, mr cool thread.

I assume all the canon primarchs are there, which would basically make the new primarch one of the missing primarchs if it wasn't missing, correct?

>I assume all the canon primarchs are there
Let's not. New canons are fun.

Legio I: Byzantios of the Kataphraktoi
Legio II: Kalanthis of the Shadow Fangs
Legio III: Kashaln of the Silver Spears
Legio IV: Balthasar of the Bloodhounds
Legio V: ??? of the Crimson Warhawks
Legio VI: EXPUNGED
Legio VII: Tiberius Faust of the Jade Pyres

Legio VIII: Oramar of the Warp Raiders
>describe your talents as a primarch
Oramar is a wraith in combat and a cunning schemer in command.
>what is the name of your legion?
The Warp Raiders
>what are its main tactics/characteristics?
The Warp Raiders are into xenos witchery hard. Their homeworld is an old Eldar ruin near the Eye of Terra.
>as a primarch, where do you land on the whole Council of Nikaea issue?
Oramar was censured at Nikaea for xenos witchcraft. He had learned the spells of the eldar from the ruins of his homeworld, and the Emperor chastised him.
>at the time of the heresy, who do you side with?
The Heretics. Slaaneshi daemons whisper in Oramar's ear.

Byzantios, Balthasar
Friends:
Kalanthis

The Bloodhounds are sent to purge the Warp Raiders for violating the pact of Nikaea. The Warp Raiders flee into the webway.

moar liek Balthasar Bloody has been told that you and your legion are going to Chaos. Now his fleet is in your home planet's orbit. What do?
I try to claim Balthasar's soul in combat but fail and flee into the webway.

Engerand the Emperor's Storm
>describe your talents as a primarch
Good and quick thinker...but maybe a little bit too quick for the good of his own legion.
>what is the name of your legion?
Storm Hammers
>what are its main tactics/characteristics?
Overwhelming assault backed by big weapons, both melee and ranged
>as a primarch, where do you land on the whole Council of Nikaea issue?
Pro-psyker. The Legion make use of them already because, hey mind bullets are more bullets, That and I expect the results to really outweight the risks.
>at the time of the heresy, who do you side with?
The Emperor, even if I might heavily question some of his choices.

>Describe any special friendships/rivalries your legion has with any of the others
Probably get along with Sanguinius because of the whole assault thing. Plus he's a cool nice guy. Definately a rivalry with Angron and Perturabo, both due to legion focus and personality issues. Likely in good terms with Magnus and Jaghatai because of the stance of psykers.
>Leman Russ has been told that you and your legion are going to Chaos. Now his fleet is in your home planet's orbit. What do?
Ask him to stand down. Hope it somehow work, if not, I've already asked the legion to be ready to attack them before they attack us. Space Wolves are nasty, if the fight is inevitable might as well put all the chances on my side.

>what's the major defect in your chapter's geneseed or traditions?
By the time its M41 the Legion has probably degraded in overall quality due to aggressive recruitment policies.
>what is your signature weapon, vehicle, or other wargear, and why?
All sort of hammers for melee weapons. Terminator Armor is definitely something the Legion would make heavy use of. Hell I could even see those dopey Centurion things being used later on as an alternate to terminators. Lots of big tanks with big guns.

>after the Heresy, what is your former Legion's major deviation from the Codex - or what unique gift does your dark god give your Legion, now?
Like hell if I'd respect that 1000 Marine thing, especially if I got way more after the Heresy. I'd organize the chapter into large 'Great Companies' or something similar, where scouts and veterans are formed into companies and fight alongside their regular battle-brothers.
>what blandishments did Horus offer you to try to convince you to join?
Most likely tried to convince me the Emperor wasn't getting results well or fast enough and was being an aloof prick. I'd probably agree that statement is true, but unless I'm a primarch who has been mistreated by the Emperor that would not be enough to sway to rebellion.

Guess that make the Storm Hammers Legion IX. Incidentally, this gave me a very weird idea for a play by post game: an alternate heresy game. Unfortunately, this does seem a bit unwieldy and I have no clue what I would do if a Primarch (player) was to dissapear/quit the PBP.

What did you use to make that space marine?

Main tactics are encircling and kiting the enemy to tire them whilst peppering them till the drop
Sorcery is dangerous, study of santific power is not
I side with the Emps in the Heresy, for our duty is still not fufilled
We are at odds with the Blood Ravens, as we have some tech they quite like, but we havea tight grip on it.
In a defense of a planet, one chapter master, out of desperation, rammed an enourmous shotgun into a deamon prince, splattering his left side across an entire acre.
We attempt diplomacy, and in failing, slaughter them all.
Major defect is that our Astartes are relatively small, mute, and have autistic rage for deamons.
Signature is in our variety of weaponry, and our warp tech that gives us the capacity for said variety.
We were promised to be given a proper geneseed, but we refused for we cared not for appearances

I am ENOCH THE RELENTLESS, Primarch of the JUDGEMENT BRINGERS
>describe your talents as a primarch
Single-mindedness, as my name suggests. Once I have set my mind to something, not even my father can get in my way. Penchant for detail and planning, but also prone to dangerous sentimentality.
>what are [your legion's] main tactics/characteristics?
Our preferred tactic is to close with the enemy under the cover of massive artillery barrages, and once the foe's will is broken they are routed in close combat. The Judgement Bringers have other ways of disposing with the enemies of mankind, but will usually contain some Shock and Awe.
>as a primarch, where do you land on the whole Council of Nikaea issue?
FUCK PSYKERS. Blasphemous abominations to the holy human form.
>at the time of the heresy, who do you side with?
FUCK YOU FATHER. A man such as you has no right to rule! Even if I must side with this insane tyrant I will see you deposed!

>as a primarch, where do you land on the whole Council of Nikaea issue?

Pyskers have no place due to the nature of the warp. Something we where always aware of.

>at the time of the heresy, who do you side with?

Having been obliterated in the last act of betrayal by the Emperor, we would have ultimately sided with neither party. We became warrior kings and brigands, seeking to carve out a place in the Universe.

>Describe any special friendships/rivalries your legion has with any of the others

We beat the shit out of the warhounds once.

>Describe some of your legion's most memorable victories/defeats

We conquered Terra.

>Leman Russ has been told that you and your legion are going to Chaos. Now his fleet is in your home planet's orbit. What do?

We beat their shit in combat using brutality and technology we understand and can recreate as individuals.

>what's the major defect in your chapter's geneseed or traditions?

We are prone to psychological meltdowns and have self destruct sequences coded into our genes via super cancer.

>what is your signature weapon, vehicle, or other wargear, and why?

Our signature weapon are Pre-crusade bolters that fired higher gauge bolter shells as apposed to the standard current today.

>after the Heresy, what is your former Legion's major deviation from the Codex - or what unique gift does your dark god give your Legion, now?

If any of us exist, the major deviation would be knowing more about the Imperium and the age before it. Using that knowledge to our advantage and ultimately creating technology without mechancium assistance.

>what blandishments did Horus offer you to try to convince you to join?

He would have offered a cure to our space cancer probably. Too bad we found it on our own.

>Describe any special friendships/rivalries your legion has with any of the others
I admire Balthasar for his purity of purpose. I detest Engerand for his impetuousness.
>Describe some of your legion's most memorable victories/defeats
For 13 terran days my ships bombarded the city of a heretic who refused to bend the knee. When I personally teleported in with my honor guard there were no defenses left, just broken bodies and a few cowards trembling in the deepest bunker they had. My humiliating defeats at the hands of my loyal brothers usually are the result of my emotions overcoming my rationale.
>Leman Russ has been told that you and your legion are going to Chaos. Now his fleet is in your home planet's orbit. What do?
I will give myself up on the terms that my legion is left alone. My sons come before all else, and I would do anything for them.

>what's the major defect in your chapter's geneseed or traditions?
Even before the heresy, some of my newer sons began suffering from mutations that led to wild and erratic mood swings.
>what is your signature weapon, vehicle, or other wargear, and why?
Personally, I wield a BIG FUCK-OFF GREATSWORD. My legion always preferred the heavy bolter and thunder hammer, for their frightening volume
>after the Heresy, what is your former Legion's major deviation from the Codex - or what unique gift does your dark god give your Legion, now?
Fuck the Emperor and fuck the Chaos If my father would not love me, I needed to turn elsewhere, but I saw the Four for what the truly were too late. I was the plaything and tool of the dark gods, and now their final joke upon me and what few of my original legion escaped the pursuit of the loyalists is thus: they have made my relentless name literal, and my sons reflect this as well. We are cursed with undeath, and each time we are slain we awaken somewhere far of, as if from a dream.
>what blandishments did Horus offer you to try to convince you to join?
The chance to rid the universe of my father is all I needed, fool that I was.

Fuck, after this, I kinda want to develop these guys into a proper 40k fan-made chapter. Obviously not as a founding Legion, but still.

How about 'The Scourge'?

Legio XI: ??? of the Scourge, Encirclement and attrition warfare. Loyalist.

Why not develop them into a proper 30k fan-made legion right now?

I suppose I could do that too. But it does make their lore useless if I ever want to use them in a 40k RPG, which I play extensively.

Engerand, the Emperor's Storm and Primarch of the Storm Hammers.

Shit, forgot to fix the backpack.

Faustus Ascelpious

>describe your talents as a primarch
Medicine and Xenology

>what is the name of your legion?
The Vanguards
>what are its main tactics/characteristics?
Excellence at biological warfare, medicine, and unrelenting hate for the inhuman. Balanced by love for the human race as a whole and rotations to the homeworld to be with 'families'

>as a primarch, where do you land on the whole Council of Nikaea issue?
I am against it, because I'd rather know the enemy than remain ignorant. Fuck using psykers beyond necessity.

>at the time of the heresy, who do you side with?
Probably the Emperor because I think he's still a better deal than Horus for humanity.

>Describe any special friendships/rivalries your legion has with any of the others
Friends with the Khan and Fulgrim. Freedom and appreciation for humanity.

>Describe some of your legion's most memorable victories/defeats
Created a xeno-virus that infected an entire alien empire and killed them when their capitol worlds proved impregnable to sieges.

>Leman Russ has been told that you and your legion are going to Chaos. Now his fleet is in your home planet's orbit. What do?
Trying talking my way out. UNLEASH ALL THE VIRUS
>what's the major defect in your chapter's geneseed or traditions?
None, the medical practices keep them exceedingly pure and pliable to a wide stock of the human race.

>what is your signature weapon, vehicle, or other wargear, and why?
Narthecium, Poisoned and biolgoical weapons. Flamers modified to spread phages. Enjoy dropping viruses tailored specifically to the enemy's genetics that would leave friendly forces unaffected.

>after the Heresy, what is your former Legion's major deviation from the Codex
If loyal, they set the standards for the Apothecarium and create an interchapter training center akin to the martian training techmarines have.

>what blandishments did Horus offer you to try to convince you to join? A humantity that will be eternal, if not free.

Good lord I've been a hardcore loyalist since the moment I touched 40k but typing this shit may have swayed me to be a traitor

Primarch Rubinek was found by nomads on a world of caustic wastelands and rusted mechanical predators. When grown he became the leader of his tribe and guided them through the wastes. They prospered, thanks to prophetic dreams that time and time again led him true.

One year he dreamt a hellish metal fortress, lair of the world's beasts, and beyond that, a valley paradise. He led his nomads against the horrors and reached their leader, a massive beast of bloodslick gears and rusted blades. While the tribe's survivors fled to salvation Rubinek fought the colossus blade to claw, knowing how his fight would end: buried with his enemy, speared through the heart. So he had dreamt, so it was. The tribe settled in the valley and mourned.

After a time of only darkness Rubinek realized he yet lived. Weak, he disentombed himself from a mountain of metal and found his people. A priestess tended to his ruined chest a day and a night, and in the end he was made whole thanks to a miraculous mechanical heart. She explained only that a great obelisk whispered to her the secrets of life, and gave this heart.

>name?
Was Thunderhearts, icon crossed thunderbolts. Renamed Iron Hearts, heart on thunderbolts.

>tactics/characteristics?
Planning, mobility, survival.

>friendships/rivalries your legion has
Close with Lion & Perturabo. By the time of Corax, Rubinek was not spoken of.

>memorable victories/defeats
Many conquests during the great crusade & the 2nd Primarch found. Destroyed by the Space Wolves. The Emperor ordered the destruction of the obelisk's resident STC AI "god", while in secret Rubinek hid a shard away. He couldn't destroy that which gave him his heart and his people peace. Years later the Emperor learned this and his fury was unprecedented. Rubinek and his Legion were unrepentant.

>major defect in chapter's geneseed or traditions?
Occasionally weak backup heart, replacing this with bionics.

>signature weapon, or other wargear?
Power claw, bionic organs.

>Primarch Rubinek
I see what you did there.

Silver Guard actually, but Silver Spears is fine too

I admit I may have misunderstood the game, I thought the purpose was to base a legion on who you are as a person instead of making a custom legion. Oops.

Byzantios' pod crash landed on the rocky world of Kanth. Kanth is a world without an ocean, with high mountains, and low deserts, but not enough water to fill the lowlands. Isolationist tribes lived in the occasional mountain valley where water could be trapped, but no large-scale civilizations existed. Byzantios unified the tribes into a planetary empire, building massive elevated road networks across the mountains to unite his people. When the Emperor arrived and told him of his destiny, he saw it as an opportunity to build even more.

Given his legion, the Kataphraktoi, and the 148th expeditionary fleet, Byzantios set out to conquer the stars. Seventeen neighboring worlds were rapidly brought to compliance under the mere threat of military action. The 18th world, however, did not give up its freedom so easily.

The system of Lygos was a strategically critical point. It lay between two large expanses of nothingness, too wide to safely be traversed through warp travel. Lygos would serve as a valuable bridge between the regions of space, and a necessary one if Byzantios was to continue his conquests. However, the Lygosians refused to submit, claiming they had ruled themselves for centuries. Byzantios invaded the world with the full strength of his legion, utterly decimating Lygos' armed forces in less than a day.

Byzantios chose to tear down every city, kill every statesman, and expunge the entire culture of Lygos. Instead he would build a new world in its place, a new capital for his region of space, and named the planet Constantine.

OP here, I actually accidentally combined two silver legions. Corrected in this post: Legio XIII: The Thunder Warriors, tech specialists who win by any means necessary. Renegades.

Legio XIV: The Vanguards, Biowarfare specialists and apothecaries. Loyalists.

Legio XV: The Iron Hearts, Heretechs and tough marines who can endure anything. Traitors.

Graha'nak, The Beast in the Void, The Jaws that Bite, The Claws that Catch.
Graha'nak's lifepod crashed deep within a Space Hulk he subsequently conquered and renamed the Void God, which he made his base of operations after being reunited with the Emperor and his Legion.
>describe your talents as a primarch
Brawler, strategist, fear. Always leads from the front, terrifying figure, stands approximately the same height as a Dreadnaught. Keeps to himself and has few friends outside the legion (one or two other primarchs).
>what are its main tactics/characteristics?
Shock assaults, planetary cleansing, close combat.
>as a primarch, where do you land on the whole Council of Nikaea issue?
Doesn't care, didn't participate. Views the whole edict as "not my problem".
>Describe any special friendships/rivalries your legion has with any of the others
Was great friends with Balthasar the Bloody. Constantly competed with him in victories, considered him a fellow hunter. Disgusted by him when he turned traitor, now the legions are bitter enemies.
>at the time of the heresy, who do you side with?
With the Emperor. Views worship of gods as a weakness and views siding with the Emps as the lesser of two evils.

Crap, forgot the Legion Name: The Void Lords
>Describe some of your legion's most memorable victories/defeats
Ambushed by The Bloodhounds at the beginning of the Heresy after meeting up under the pretense of assaulting one of the last great Ork Empires left after Ullanor. Barely survived but harried the Bloodhounds all the way to Terra, where they participated in routing heretic Forces after they were broken.
>what's the major defect in your chapter's geneseed or traditions?
Astartes are of an unusually large stature in this legion, they rely more on strength than agility, so reliance on shock tactics and fear is key for them in maintaining the initiative in battle.
>what is your signature weapon, vehicle, or other wargear, and why?
A black power mace with three claws protruding from its head, and a short range teleportation device used to get into close quarters quickly.
>what blandishments did Horus (equivalent) offer you to try to convince you to join?
Didn't even try, wanted us exterminated right away. Didn't want to risk us saying no.

Don't mind me I'm just keeping track.

Loyalists:
Legio I: The Kataphraktoi, Empire builders, infantry drops and compliance actions.
Legio III: The Silver Guard, Psyker scholars with guerilla tactics.
Legio V: The Crimson Warhawks, Airospace superiority and jump troops.
Legio VI: The Jade Pyres, Exotech weapons and Psyker fuckery.
Legio VII: The Fists of Mars, Mechanized warfare and tech specialists.
Legio X: The Storm Hammers, Overwhelming assault and superior firepower.
Legio XI: The Scourge, encirclement and attrition warfare.
Legio XIV: The Vanguards, Biowarfare specialists and apothecaries.
Legio XVI: The Void Lords, brutal beasts who cleanse planets and live in space.

Renegades:
Legio II: The Shadow Fangs, Survivalist mutants, experimental tacticians.
Legio IV: The Bloodhounds, brutal warriors and relentless huntsmen.
Legio VIII: The Silver Spears, Mass infantry, generalists.
Legio IX: The Warp Raiders, Xenos witchcraft and blitzkrieg tactics.
Legio XII: The Judgement Bringers, Shock and Awe tactics and melee combat.
Legio XIII: The Thunder Warriors, tech specialists who win by any means necessary.
Legio XV: The Iron Hearts, Heretechs and tough marines who can endure anything.

...

Lets change the Vanguard to the Oathsworn for the more medical sounding name, and maybe make them mutation free Slaneesh traitors. Purity at all costs, perfection to the core.

There's already two slaanesh traitors tho

No one has taken the mantle of Nurgle worshipers, so I guess I'll have the Judgement Bringers be Nurgle in a "at least papa nurgle loves us like you never did dad, you imperial DICK" sort of way

>nurgle worshippers with daddy issues

lol is this the Hektor Heresy all over again?

Yes. Expect the exact same trajectory.

man those threads were fun as fuck

Suprisingly that project is actually still going. They update their Legions, Heresy and Primarchs on 1d4chan every so often.

fug

Fuck it, make them pure then.

I worked on it back then but I haven't checked out the wiki or heard from any of the posters in a long time.

I need a break from my Thesis, so let's give this a shot:
Gishgimash of Tepectitlan, Primarch of the Storm Serpents.
Gishgimash specializes in logistics and strategy, akin to his brothers Roboute and The Lion, but is curious to a fault. He found his world Tepectitlan a world of stone and bronze and left it a world of electricity and steel. Gishgimash is as much at home planning the structure of a new city, or the infrastructure network of a sector as he is on the battlefield, but relishes conquest as a unique puzzle.

The legion specializes in hit and run tactics and mobile warfare at the operations level. Legion strategy places a great deal of importance on information, so as to know how best to draw out and achieve local numerical superiority to crush and disorder the enemy. Once a breach in the lines is achieved, Gishgimash prefers an aggressive stance, so as to prevent the opponent from regrouping.
The legion is noted for its cohesion and ability to coordinate effectively with human auxiliae, as well as a high degree of technological proficiency, following its primarch's intense interest in technology, and as such, much archaeotech and armor is employed.

Gishgimash was a supporter of the Librarius project and spoke on behalf of its continued existence during the Council. Following the decision, the librarius was quietly kept operational, though restricted to data gathering operations.

Gishgimash had no hesitation, he supported the Imperium and the Emperor's vision of the future.

Who were you? What were you? They've cut and changed a few Legions, there's a couple of gaps open there.

I wrote Golgothos of the Entomed

So, I guess this detail is worth expanding upon since it seems we might end up developing these guys. I'm the one who wrote the Storm Hammers, mostly as a one-off joke, expecting this thread to die and be forgotten. However their color scheme and what I did write has grown on me.

So its worth nailing down the facts:
-They like storm/thunder imagery a lot.
-They are very offense-oriented.
-Their Primarch has an ancient french name.
From the last one we can assume some sort of feudal planet but then where does the storm thing come from? From there the idea evolved that its a planet wracked by some really freaky, almost alien weather. The human colonist who settled long ago either gave up on proper terraforming or it broke down in the Age of Strife. So I imagine this weird anachronitstic medieval/sword-and-sorcery (in space!) where technologically-equipped lords defend their small domain from other feuding lords, xeno monsters and horrific mutants which live in the storm-wracked environments. Creatures with pale, glowing skins, emitting heat and crackles, glowing brightly when the skies are dark and heavy (which is probably the weather when not storm-wracked).

>-They like storm/thunder imagery a lot.
The Lightning Bolt is the Emperor's personal symbol. They must have done something awesome to earn the right to bear it.

That Legion's been given a bit of an overhaul. I'd suggest you look up the changes made to that Primarch and Legion.

Oh shit, I forgot that! I really did. Well, I'm sure that can be worked in: Fulgrim did get to wear the aquila.

Gishgimash made odd friends. He was particularly close to Gulliman, who's attitude and strategic mind respected. He was similarly close to The Lion, or at least as close as anyone could be to such a private individual.
Gishgimash was also very close to Magnus, though he thought that Magnus had an unfortunate tendency to look for meaning where there was none and to assume he had control-- Gishgimash firmly believed that the strands of fate were ultimately not within their ability to command. Still, the two got along well.
He found Jaghatai's take on things refreshing and privately shared his concern with the Imperial Truth. He was also noted to be fond of Go and made the game required playing in his own legion and also promoted calligraphy and poetry.
Perhaps surprisingly, Gishgimash got along well with Alpharius, and the two are recorded as having had a number of arcane competitions during their conquests. Gishgimash tried to bring Roboute in on the games, but was unsuccessful, while the Lion does seem to have participated a few times.

Gishgimash respected the Warmaster and Sanguinius. He also respected Ferrus Manus and Perturabo's ability with technology, but never developed a friendship with either.
Gishgimash didn't really understand Russ. They worked well enough when in the same theatre, but no more.

He was noted not to have gotten along with Angron, Moritarion, or Dorn. In the first case, Gishgimash's focus on feints and strategy caused friction with the volitile Red Angel. Moritarion found Gishgimash's interest in the arcane and the technological deeply suspicious and for his part, Gishgimash found Moritarion's trudging warfare inefficient, similar to his attitude towards Perturabo. Though in the case of the Lord of Iron, Gishgimash was profoundly disappointed. He had seen his work and looked forward to meeting the primarch who could design such wondrous cities, but found Perturabo throwing his men into a meatgrinder.

their wiki page is exactly how I left it, so I guess nothing's changed since last I checked. They had a php forum for a while which was neat.

I'm thinking updating the Storm Hammers to this color scheme, making their shoulder pads a bit less garish and bright and give their weapons a matching color. What do you guys think? Was the first one better?

The Primarch Page is very different. And there's a changed version of the Legion History on the Talk Page.

Graha'nak was found in the 89th year of the Emperor's Great Crusade. The 99th Expeditionary fleet had been tracking a Space Hulk of gargantuan proportions for almost two years and had made regular reports of the devastation it had left in its wake. Numerous alien civilizations wiped out, planets made into charnel houses, the xenos dead filling craters blasted into the surfaces of those worlds. When the Emperor himself came with the might of two of his legions the mighty fleet was stopped in its tracks when the Hulk surprisingly dropped out of warp and found them. A grotesque thing, made up of 43 ships of varying classes and mega-tonnages, the Hulk sat idle and waited for the Imperials to make the first move.

Sensing a presence aboard the vessel, the Emperor, his Custodes, and Balthasar, Primarch of the Bloodhounds, entered the hulk. As they advanced they encountered no resistance. Many of the ships making up the hulk lay dormant, their systems inactive, but signs were found that an alien presence once inhabited many of the ships. Traces of human life were found too, as well as signs of great battles and slaughter from years ago. The Librarians who came with the Bloodhounds could feel the psychic echo of slaughter of ages past within the walls.

At the center of the hulk they found him, Graha'nak awaited his father with all his ghastly court. Bent on one knee, the humans who made up the populace of the great hulk greeted their Emperor, and the Lord of Humanity's long lost son stood out as the largest of them all. Massive in size, Graha'nak was like the giants of Terran myth, his piercing eyes meeting straight with the Emperor's, his body showing deference, his gaze demanding respect. The Emperor knew him as his own at that moment and took him as his son.

Silver Spears?

Isn't that a familiar sight.

Perturabo took it as a veiled insult, and the two spoke seldom afterwards.
Dorn was simply too rigid for Gishgimash's tastes, similar to Lorgar, who's fanaticism Gishgimash found off-putting.

In the end, Gishgimash vied for beautiful cities and effective infrastructure with Guiliman, and was known to race with the White Scars, but didn't engage in the sort of rivalry of Russ and The Lion.

Notable Actions:
Shortly after being reunited with his legion, Gishgimash led his men against the Witch-Kings of the Vaal Cluster. These foul warp-sorcerors ruled over an empire of enthralled gene-warriors, each nearly the equal of a Space Marine, but far less stable. After a few probing void engagements, Gishgimash found that the Witch-King's military forces were dependent upon witch-generals to maintain control of the gene-thralls. If the command structure could be disrupted, then the foe's defenses would crumble. However, the Witch-Kings were not unaware of this weakness and designed their forces to compensate. Without a witch to maintain order in a geno-thrall force, they would go berserk and the resulting psychic turmoil would make long distance communication near impossible. Thus, even if a force was broken, the opponent would find it difficult to communicate and exploit the breach. To combat this, Gishgimash and his War-Council developed a daring strategy.
Similar to the XVIth's Pacification of Luna, ships would be sent into Vaal space, powered down to avoid detection. These ships would stake out the Mandeville points in systems to be contested and hide in asteroid fields. Similarly, kill teams were infiltrated across the worlds of Vaal. Knowing that communication by Astropath would be nigh impossible, Gishgimash revived an archaic means of communication from before the dark age of technology, the radio. While it would be limited to light-speed, signals could still be passed in system without too much trouble.

It's true. History does repeat itself.

The Emperor introduced him to his brother, Balthasar, then to his Legion, the XVI Legion Astartes. Graha'nak knew them immediately as his sons, for like him, they towered over even their fellow Astartes of the IV Legion. He told the Emperor of his life, how he was adopted by one of the numerous human tribes, descended from the void sailors of the ships that made up the hulk, which he named the Void God. He told his father of his extermination of the xenos that infested much of the hulk, and of the cruel wars he waged against worlds populated by xenos filth and humans so deformed from their base genus they were no longer human.

He formed an immediate bond with his brother Balthasar, for like him, he too was a mighty killer. Graha'nak knew how to kill easily enough, but it was Balthasar who taught him to hunt. For decades after being reunited with his Legion, Graha'nak and Balthasar often found themselves side by side. Competing for the finest kills, comparing their victories in their father's name. of all his brothers, Balthasar was the only one he truly loved, and the tragedy that would make them the bitterest of enemies would drown the galaxy in blood for mellenia to come.

whoa this stuff is awesome

With this limited means of communication in hand, the timetable of the operation was carefully projected and each level of the command hierarchy given general directives to allow them to press any advantage they found. They were, in effect, to operate as independent cells all working towards the same goal, all dynamically implementing a broadly agreed upon timetable.
Furthermore, it was realized that while Imperial communications would cease to function, those of the Witch Kings would continue without any problem. Infiltrated forces, then, simply had to monitor communication traffic and activity from the Witch-Kings.

Operations began with multiple, simultaneous planetary invasions, with the priority placed upon elimination of the commanding psykers. Once eliminated, the berserker horde could easily be lead into pre-planned ambushes. Similarly, comm-traffic and energy signatures would be faked on one front prior to a rapid redeployment of assets to another sector, so as to focus the entire military might on a single point. Once behind their lines, infrastructure targets were eliminated, forcing the Geno-Thralls to come to the Storm Serpents. Hampering legion communications did the Witch-Kings little good when they had to come to the prepared Storm Serpents.
Even as distress calls went out from the besieged worlds and reinforcements were dispatched, the second part of the Storm Serpent's plan kicked into action. As laden troop ships, confident of orbital control in-system, dropped out of warp, the concealed Legion ships struck, destroying some outright, capturing the command decks of others and venting geno-thralls to the cold void. The victorious Legion fleet then joined with the invasion fleet to eliminate remaining Thrall-ships before redeploying for the next target. With the planetary communication networks down and the geno-thralls dead, the legions pushed on rapidly, striking at those systems from which the reinforcements had been moved.

>describe your talents as a primarch
Aubrey the Grey.
A talented surgeon and duelist, Aubrey has been known to challenge gargantuan Ork Warbosses well above his mass.
Aubreys ability to heal himself has been documented as "impressive, even for a Primarch." He has been rumoured to have regrown fingers, hands, eyes and ears after a month of rest.
>what is the name of your legion?
The Eternal Zealots
>what are its main tactics/characteristics?
The Zealots prefer close combat, with a close second given to aerial combat, the result is a legion that lends itself to using drop-troop styled assault marines to eliminate high interest targets and destroy the chain of command.

The breaking of morale is another part of the Zealots modus operendi, utilizing a core of astartes known as "The Mentors" taught by the Primarch himself in the ways of negotiation, intimidation and inspiring the masses.
A confused enemy is much easier to defeat.
>as a primarch, where do you land on the whole Council of Nikaea issue?
Aubrey sees potential in psykers but believes they must be monitored properly to allow their true benefits to shine through.
>at the time of the heresy, who do you side with?
Horus

>Describe any special friendships/rivalries your legion has with any of the others

Fuck Leman Russ.
>Describe some of your legion's most memorable victories/defeats
Vermillion II was a human inhabited regressive Knight world that was at a point assaulted by xenos, the invasion woke the Necrons, whom after a decisive victory returned to their tombs to continue their rest, leaving the humans alone.

The humans began to worship the "Death Gods" whom could spew green lightning.
Initially they rebelled against the Imperium, using captured Xenos technologies to repel the Zealots, until the Necrons woke once again.
With intervention from the Eldar, the Necrons were defeated.
1/?

These fell far more quickly, and with more panic, allowing legion operatives to sneak onboard refugee ships. Some of these were sabotaged directly, with transports exploding in orbit or tumbling from orbit, but for the most part, rumors of saboteurs were started. On some worlds, this was the signal for Storm Serpents forces-- they began quick campaigns of sabotage, before vanishing into the wilderness, their work complete. It was less important that the attacks cause damage than that they spread fear and panic.
This pattern of sudden, overwhelming attack, followed by the spreading of diffuse threats kept the Witch-Kings from regrouping effectively, the timing obscuring the method of operations for the Legion. Refugee and evacuation ships with valuable reinforcements were held up as they were searched for saboteurs, saboteurs who had spent weeks in position, waiting for the panic to spread before carrying out their missions. Though the initial cost in infrastructure was high, the stalling of the Vaal's war plans pre-empted battles planetside, and within two months of the opening actions, the Vaal Cluster had been successfully captured, with some worlds entirely spared lengthy campaigns, their fortresses emptied by the Witch-King's frantic redeployments.

Ps no repeats from Hektor Heresy. Make a new legion, friend aubrey.

Bah! No fun.

I wanted to see how my works stacked up.
But if you insist.

This whole thing is a repeat of the Hektor Heresy. Including the likely outcome.

Balthasar's pod landed on the desert world of Atria. The people there lived in feudal nomadic tribes, following the snaking meanders of the seasonal river plains. His people lived solely off the hunt, for it was a religious taboo to eat any plant. For the people of Atria, one's own life must be purchased with the death of others. Balthasar quickly became the most powerful warlord on the entire planet, commanding tribes which hunted the whole of the southern continent. When the Emperor arrived on Atria, Balthasar said he would join his father only if he could prove his worth: They would hunt the Black Beast of Ba'at, a monstrous beast of the far wilds who moved with such speed and stealth that no man had looked upon one and lived. For forty days and forty nights Balthasar and the Emperor hunted together, and in that time the Emperor told his son of his grand designs. On the forty-first day they slew the beast together, and the Emperor fashioned for Balthasar a cloak of the beast's midnight-black fur, which he wore even to the end of the Heresy.

These sorts of tactics were not always successful, but the Storm Serpents were nothing if not adaptable. One notable example was against the Krag'athalax, a foul xenos species, which spawned bio-soldiers in unending hordes. Assaults were initially stymied against the numberless forces of the enemy. It hardly mattered where you struck when the foe swarmed from every building, every corner of the globe.
Several assaults were thrown back before a different tact was taken.
Volkite and incendiaries were brought forth from legion vaults and the attendant forge ships worked double-time to produce additional weapons and spare parts to maintain thousands of volkite weapons. Similarly, Gishgimash negotiated with several Reductor Covenants for Holy Ordinatus Ullator Engines. Various toxins and weapons such as phospex were considered, but it was decided that damage to the ecosystem would be excessive. It was decided, however, that rad weapons would be sanctioned, their cores changed out for elements with shorter half-lives. (Despite this precaution, areas of former Krag'athalax would remain uninhabitable for decades after the campaign's end)
With this technological superiority in hand and the legion's armor gathered, the legion deployed. The resulting campaign was grueling, and even with the mass effect of volkites, including no few Fellglaives, as well as other, stranger devices which reaped a heavy toll on the chittering hordes, as often as not it came down to bloody melee, particularly as the slow firing Ullator Engines recycled for their next shot. After each wave, the Storm Serpents would regroup and reinforce their defenses, designing kill channels, and meter by meter, they took each world, but each battle became easier as they developed better means to poison their foe.

>Including the likely outcome.
Months of fun?

Until craniums start going up rectums.

Of the campaign, Gishgimash said little, though it is said that Perturabo found respect for his brother in that campaign, attested to by the fact the the Lord of Iron sent several members of the Stor Bezask unbidden to advise in the campaign.

When Russ appeared in orbit, Gishgimash simply laughed at him and invited him down to talk the whole thing over. Gishgimash has no use for the denizens of the great ocean. They stand against everything he hopes to build. He tells Russ as much and shows him that he has nothing to hide.

The Legion borrows from the culture of Tepectitlan, including the esoteric traditions of its inhabitants. Poetry and calligraphy are regarded as fine arts and the legionaries are encouraged to partake. Jade is highly valued and often worked into decorations on armor or luck-items. The warp is conceptualized as storm wind-- dangerous, but potentially useful. Self control and moderation are virtues, as is the idea of the individual's duty to their oaths. In native myth, the Storm Serpent is a great, feathered snake, akin to a dragon, that brings the rain. It has a dual nature, a destructive and ferocious side, that tears down the old, and a creative, protective side that makes the crops grow. Each Storm Serpent tries to temper their native aggression with intellect, not so much to suppress their natural inclinations, but to work with them. Destruction is recognized as a requirement for growth, the old status quo must be transcended. Creation and destruction, thesis and antithesis, each blends into the other and the warrior must be able to live with both. The non-negotiable, instilled by Gishgimash, is progress. Without discipline and without order, society crumbles. Without wisdom, the infrastructure is lost and the city dies. With careful steps, bronze age farmers can learn to forge steel. They can learn to make medicine and live longer, happier lives. They can learn virtue.

>Loyalists:
>Legio I: The Kataphraktoi, Empire builders, infantry drops and compliance actions.
Pretty neat, Byzantine spess muhreenz. Clunky name though.
>Legio III: The Silver Guard, Psyker scholars with guerilla tactics.
Loyalist sorcerors. Cool.
>Legio V: The Crimson Warhawks, Aerospace superiority and jump troops.
I like the idea of space marines who mostly actually fight in space
>Legio VI: The Jade Pyres, Exotech weapons and Psyker fuckery.
Very cool. Asian space wizards.
>Legio VII: The Fists of Mars, Mechanized warfare and tech specialists.
Right hand thing feels silly but I like the idea of a very mechanicus aligned legion.
>Legio X: The Storm Hammers, Overwhelming assault and superior firepower.
mite b cool
>Legio XI: The Scourge, encirclement and attrition warfare.
2spooky
>Legio XIV: The Oathsworn, Biowarfare specialists and apothecaries.
Real neat. loyalists could use a few doctors.
>Legio XVI: The Void Lords, brutal beasts who cleanse planets and live in space.
Dope as fuck backstory for the primarch and good inter-relational stuff with the bloodhounds.
Legio XVII: The Storm Serpents, logistics wizards, strategists.
Real fuckin neato.

>Renegades:
>Legio II: The Shadow Fangs, Survivalist mutants, experimental tacticians.
[EXPUNGED]
>Legio IV: The Bloodhounds, brutal warriors and relentless huntsmen.
I made these.
>Legio VIII: The Silver Spears, Mass infantry, generalists.
doesn't feel excessive enough for slaanesh but it could be
>Legio IX: The Warp Raiders, Xenos witchcraft and blitzkrieg tactics. Tzeentch?
Xenos heresy is fun and doesn't really exist much in the normal canon.
>Legio XII: The Judgement Bringers, Shock and Awe tactics and melee combat.
IMO too silly and close to ANGRY MARINES. Daddy issues: the legion can be cool but it needs more. Add more nurgle.
>Legio XIII: The Storm Hammers?, tech specialists who win by any means necessary.
Should be the Emperor's chosen. Could be the warmaster?
>Legio XV: The Iron Hearts, Heretechs and tough marines who can endure anything.
Dope reference senpai. Heretech traitors are always fun.
