You are the former United States Navy warship USS HOEL, now returned as a shipgirl and ready to kick Abyssal ass!
Currently, you were maneuvering wildly to avoid volleys of antiship missiles being fired from Argentinian planes. Of course, they thought you were an Abyssal, so you couldn't really blame them, especially since it was your job to distract them until STRIKE-1 could extract the shipgirls being held at the base.
Fortunately for you, it seemed that the Argie pilots weren't familiar with their new planes and weapons, or were too anxious to properly aim them, since the majority of their missiles have largely missed, failing to track you and dropping into the water harmlessly.
Though, to be fair, your extremely small size could have something to do with it.
You check your radar again, and you see the Argie planes pulling back, their weapons spent. Well, most of them, anyways. You see one plane stubbornly continuing on his course, making a beeline straight for your position.
Was...was he trying to make a gun run on you?!

You decide to fire off a few warning shots in an effort to scare him off. You were pretty sure he couldn't cause significant damage to you, but you should be cautious anyways.
Plus, you were pretty impressed with this particular pilot's balls. You give another pulse with your radar to confirm his position and raise your guns...

You start lobbing 5-inch shells into the air with your cannons, making sure not to aim directly at the incoming plane, instead bracketing it with a cloud of flak shells. The Argie F-16 jinks and jukes, trying to throw off your aim, and refuses to be cowed by your withering fire.
At this point, you could now see the F-16 with your own optics, a dark shadow illuminated by a miniature sun at its back as the pilot hits afterburners. You see the F-16 dip its nose just ever so slightly, indicating he was getting ready for a strafing run and you brace yourself. There's a flash as his cannon roars, sending a rain of cannon shells down on you. Fortunately, he doesn't score a direct hit, but the shells land perilously close, splashing you with water as the volley rips past mere meters from you.
And then you feel a brief wave of intense heat as the F-16 pulls out of its dive, so close to the water that you almost swear you could reach up and touch it. You're blasted back when you eat a face full of jet engine exhaust as the F-16 tilts up to regain altitude, no doubt to try for another run.

You decide to focus on regrouping with Enterprise and the others. The object of this op was not to stand and fight, just to act as a diversion, and you believe that you've diverted them plenty. You swing around and pour all your energy into your boilers, pushing yourself eastward at full speed. However, your radar was updating you continously on the F-16's movements, and it as definitely circling around for another attack run. Your Rig mounted 5 inch cannon swivels around and barks as it fires in an attempt to ward the insane F-16 pilot off.

At this point, I'm tempted to suggest we switch the SPY-1 to War Emergency Power and pencil-beam it onto the Viper. Even if we don't fry the electronics and/or induce a charge in the ejection system, at least we'll make sure this bastard has funny-lookin' kids from pumpin' out thirty megawatts on a half-degree beam...
Logan Campbell
Jesus, that sounds too much like a war crime.
Isaac Edwards
That's actually on the low end of what the SPY-1 can do. As in, unclassified estimates of its output based on the unclassified output of the original set from the early 70s on the Norton Sound.
And then there's the SPY-3 that's going on CVN-80, which should be pushing out somewhere in the neighborhood of half a TERAWATT...
Juan Mitchell
Once again, the F-16 dives for a gun run. Thankfully, like before, the darkness and your small size play to your advantage, and the F-16 can't seem to get an accurate bead on you as his nose slides side to side to try and track where he thinks you are, based purely on the muzzle flash of your cannon. He lets loose another roar of cannon fire, which comes perilously close, but thankfully misses you once again, shearing a line in the water just ahead of you.
You're starting to worry that you were really going to have to shoot this guy down when the sky if filled with thousands of shooting stars. You glance up to see Enterprises' Hellcats finally coming to your aid. To the naked optic, they looked like shadowy bats, with jury rigged LED lights giving them a ghostly blue glow as they swooped down through the air, raining machine gun rounds and tracers on the F-16. You could tell that like you were trying to earlier, Enterprise was just trying to scare the pilot away rather than shoot him down.
That pilot had balls, you had to admit, but he wasn't suicidal. Seeing how he was outnumbered by presumably Abyssal aircraft, the F-16 drops its external fuel tanks and pulls an almost impossibly tight U-turn as he hightails it back to land.
"I thought you'd need the help." Enterprise says cheerfully over the radio.

E-Enterprise appreciated your help! For some reason, that made your boiler flicker for a moment.
"Now..." Enterprise gazes westward, towards the burning shoreline. "Portland and San Francisco are still trying to separate from the engagement. They should be getting out of range of their guns in a few minutes, though do you think we should assist them anyways?"
Well, you were pretty sure that Portland and San Fran could handle themselves, but maybe it couldn't hurt for them to owe you a favor.

"Let's link up with Sweet Pea and San Fran!" You say, bouncing up and down on the water. That ballsy F-16 had gotten your oil worked up, and wanted to get some more action in before you had to leave!
"Aggressive as always, I see." Enterprise chuckles. "All right, I'll keep the skies clear. Just make sure they break contact with the Argentinian fleet!"
"Roger that!" You salute the carrier before veering off back west, towards the muzzle flashes. You could see Portland and San Francisco skating eastward, trading cannon fire with a flotilla of about five Argie gunboats being led by a frigate. Tracers lit up the night as 203mm and 57mm shells were traded. True, the modern ships' calibers weren't nearly as large as the cruisers', but they were more accurate and had a MUCH faster rate of fire, almost blanketing the entire surrounding ocean in lead while both Portland and San Francisco were hobbled by having to wait a few seconds in between volleys. Fortunately, the Argie boats don't seem to have done any significant damage, but the repeated 57mm hits on their hulls was starting to add up...
"You two need help?" You ask cheekily as you sail past the two cruisers, the Argies failing to see your arrival just yet.
"Hoel!" Portland is only able to croak out your name right before you close in.

You dive right into the middle of the Argie formation before they even have a chance to notice your arrival. All around you, you could sense the gunboats driving past, and right behind them and in front of you was their flagship, the frigate. They were all firing their cannons so rapidly you didn't even need your radar to see them.
What to do? Attack all of them at once, or take out their leadership?

You immediately make a beeline for the Frigate, figuring that if you managed to take it out, the rest of the flotilla would scatter, or at the very least halt the pursuit to assist their flagship. As you close distance, you raise your 5-inch guns and arm your torpedo launchers, trying to pick out where to attack. You could go for the hull. It was the easiest and safest place to hit, but at most you'd just cause the ship to flood which wouldn't put it into immediate danger.
But if you attacked the superstructure, you were sure to cripple the ship by taking out important sensors and systems, but... that was where much of the crew was...
