Actual thread is over here, folks.

At least you tried edition

We all need to try.

This actually brings up a interesting point. Why is such a large percentage of the people who share our hobby taken up by disgusting degenerates? Why can't these people keep their fetishes inside their porn folder and why do they feel the need to keep trying to bring them into the thread/game?

I have personally left two different games due to really creepy fetish stuff by the DM.

What can we do to fix this?

>>>/tumblr/

And I suspect that you are ether bait or a perfect example of the degenerates that drag my hobby though the mud.

Please tell: what changes could we make for you to leave pathfinder and never come back?

user don't bother, it's just not worth it, if you have a good gm just know that your lucky and will most likely never have to deal with anyone here, Torag knows I have.

Fuck that shit.

We need two PFGs, one for weaboo c ucks and another for people who actually play the game instead of ERPing.

So who's working on what and how are your games going?

Pft, we both know both threads will be filled with people who don't have games to play in.

I'm working on how the fuck to run a game for players when they reach level 9. I have one little town and the nearby fort/garrison fleshed out, and now the players have teleport range of 900 MILES.

I've never gotten this far before, so I have no idea what to do...

I don't want to put up invisa-walls or limit freedom/choice, but I have literaly nothing outside of this town statted or though of.

What do?

BEGONE, SATAN

Are there any Optional/Variant Rules that might as well be mandatory because they just make the game better as a whole?

Golarion Timeline Police.

Good idea/bad idea/worst idea for a campaign?

Well if you can't think of anything, try generation tools.

Just be ready to make shit up on the fly and keep good notes.

You could also send them on a long distance quest. Also town/fort building if they're into that stuff. Let them create the content for once.

>tfw i'm just getting straight up bored with making characters now
>have played just about every kind of character that isn't a full caster
>just don't get any kind of inspiration anymore
So how's your night /pfg/?

Yes:

>Level up when the DM says so, no XP.
>Blood money, simulacrum, and planar binding don't happen/exist.
>Alignments don't matter or are hidden.

It could be amazing or incredible shit.

Play a evocation sorcerer. You know you want to. You will love it.

Wondering why every hobby I have is filled with awful people that would make Mr.Rodgers sad.

>my hobby though the mud.
>my hobby
The hubris is real.
And not even degenerate, I'm a strait edge Christian, yet I can't help but be amused by how much if a butch you act like about everything.

Heck, it's whiny Normie asshole like you who can't help but piss in everyone's cereal that need to leave. You morons got rid of DSP, then whine at the power vacuum you created yet refused to actually fill with any proper content.

You create and provide nothing to the hobby, only sit about and whine about the hobby itself. It's you who needs to leave and find a community better suited to not triggering you so hard like a /pol/lack in a synagogue.

Besides, at least unlike you I have an IRL group I have fun with, and unlike your bitchass projections imply, I never try to bring any sexual content or interests into meatspace.

>Saying so much and still saying nothing at the same time
I'm good at that too, just usually save it for essays

Background skills is a nice one.

>You morons got rid of DSP
Wait, what happened?

The madmen shitpost so hard they scared off the marketers and now all that exists is fetish posters and shit

>le ebbin tldr that'll show em, since I can't be asked to use my brain
Here is your (you)
Spend it wisely

The cuckspamming and shillspammig fags who made this thread and are supporting the other threw shot at Gareth and told him to leave.
And he did, and said he wouldn't come back until August for us to cool our jets

That's it? I'm sure they'll be back in a few days.

>supporting
Meant shitposting. Hate this new phone

>The hubris is real.
If you think "my hobby" implies ownership then you need to learn to english.

>And not even degenerate, I'm a strait edge Christian, yet I can't help but be amused by how much if a butch you act like about everything.
About that "learn to english" thing you were going to do...

>Heck, it's whiny Normie asshole like you who can't help but piss in everyone's cereal that need to leave.
>You won't let me enjoy my watersprots fetish at the table and it hurts my feelings

>You morons got rid of DSP, then whine at the power vacuum you created yet refused to actually fill with any proper content.
>implying DSP was content
>implying two splatbooks a month isn't enough content.

>You create and provide nothing to the hobby, only sit about and whine about the hobby itself. It's you who needs to leave and find a community better suited to not triggering you so hard like a /pol/lack in a synagogue.
I love the hobby, I just hate degenerate freaks who keep my hobby in the gutter. How many threads have been polluted with bestiality? The last four in a row?

>Besides, at least unlike you I have an IRL group I have fun with, and unlike your bitchass projections imply, I never try to bring any sexual content or interests into meatspace.
Well then I don't have a problem with you, and your whole post makes no sense. Or maybe you are backpedaling because you are ashamed.

Not here for character optimization, just a question:
GM is planning a Halloween themed token game and has asked us to submit character ideas. (Yes it is normal for us to have to submit characters months in advance)

Should I play a pumpkin-headed cavalier, just a witch, a totaly-not-a-werewolf druid, or what?

Gareth straight up said "see you until August"

I'm getting ready to GM a game using mostly 3pp materials, with an armorist, incanter, and luchador from Drop Dead, and a guru and vitalist from DSP. We're starting with a level one adventure I put together, but I'm worried I won't have time to keep up materials for a weekly game. Are there any good APs that would match well with that party composition and don't require a bunch of extra subsystems like Wrath of the Righteous?

Because, user.

There is no one, and nothing, in this universe without a hole in its heart where something good should be.

This entire universe was a mistake. Existence itself must be purged, if there is to be any justice. From the smallest biting fly to the vastest black hole, it is all of it a hideous, monstrous thing.

And yet, here we all are, afraid to find what lies beyond. Too afraid to leave this place, this prison we have known all our lives.

Even now, I can't bring myself to do it. The knife is right there.

>DSP
>Content
Their release schedule was slower than 5th edition.

Honestly those all sound awesome, but your dm sounds questionable. Don't forget small innocent girls who are actually elderich monsters from beyond reality. Syntesist summoner works well for this. Just make sure you don't make it gross.

Kill yourself?

Is that what you wanted me to say?

But user, disparaging said people out of spite, like OP is doing, makes him even more sad.

OP refuses to be Excellent to other people, hence why he's a fag

Reign of winter is a fun one.

It is never wrong to take a stand for what is good and just.

Why?

And why do we welcome advertisers here? Good content or no, I though Veeky Forums was a no-shilling-zone?

>implying anyone actually knows what goodness and justice are
>implying human beings are capable of perceiving objective truth

Have you looked at Rise of the Runelords? It's solid, and works well with almost any group. Mummy's Mask isn't bad either.

It's called quality control. He's been a solid DM for years now. I host, he brings the beer, someone else brings the pizza, and in this case everyone's bringing candy and candied sweets.

I guess I'll go with a pumpkin knight/cavalier maybe multi into Cleric for some spooky magics.

OP did us a favor with this thread.

That prego fox slut was just too much.

>implying "objective" means anything
>implying we aren't just self replicating machines given too much time to make too many interesting mistakes
>implying we shouldn't still try to be the best we could be, because why the fuck not?

>It's called quality control.
I guess. That makes sense. Everyone in my group is friends and we talk enough about games/characters we usually know what we are all bringing before we even show up.

Reign of winter kept my group locked in a basement for 6 months. Some didn't make it out. We tried calling the cops, no results

Oh we'll be talking about it for the next few months and tweaking stuff as needed.

We're already playing in the setting it's just for the Halloween game we decided that our characters would dress up as other classes and get those class levels instead of our own for the night.

How much downtime is too much, /pfg/?

Is two sessions of downtime for every 'active' session too much?

What do they do in all that down time? I say it is far too much. I don't want to spend 12 hours trimming hedges for every 6 hours adventuring.

Well, everyone's got one Profession skill maxed, and they're both doing their normal jobs and modifying/restocking/improving their shared secret base.

But there is nothing good and just here, just one cancer fighting an equally awful cancer. Degenerates vs /pol/+/v/
It's like watching Nazis and Commies fight. No one wins. And if you wanted to make a stand, the are better places to do it than on fucking Veeky Forums.

No, all he managed to do was be an equally bad faggots as the prep doodah by spamming more PF everywhere and pushing other threads off. If he was any good, he would've waited for the other thread to die naturally, then make the new thread

Honestly, as a third party I have to say watching the weeks and furious slug it out with the equally cancerous and vitriolic Antis is just tiring, considering that the latter refuses to hold themselves to the same standards of no shitposting they try to put on the degenerates

Tldr: Everyone is an asshole just spewing shit over everything, the pussies have done nothing but make room for them, and the ducks are either long gone or are busy swordfighting and getting in a measuring contest to fuck either the assholes or the pussies

Depends on what's currently going on in the game. And what your players enjoy.

Mine love downtime stuff. They also enjoy slice of life break sessions too.

Every group is different though.

>It's like watching Nazis and Commies fight.
>No one wins.
Except the Commies won against the Nazi's.
Then they lost to freedom.

This thread's got more good in it than the other, which is 99% shitpost.

Might be a little much. But if everyone's having fun, whats the harm, eh?

I...uh...what?

Personally I like 0 downtime. It helps keep characters from starting an industrial revolution at level 4 and makes for more fun in general.

If you group likes it then stick with it, I guess.

>enjoy a hobby
>some losers are trying to shit over your hobby
>"just let them nothing matters anyways"
No.

>. Why is such a large percentage of the people who share our hobby taken up by disgusting degenerates? Why can't these people keep their fetishes inside their porn folder and why do they feel the need to keep trying to bring them into the thread/game?

There's a lot of reasons for it, mostly dealing with the issues of social outcasts and a total unwillingness in our society to confront problems of a sexual nature, but in the end it's because by picking Pathfinder or D&D you are picking the lowest common denominator of game.

It's not bad by any means, but you WILL catch all the pond scum that filters through the hobby first because these are entry games and they often rarely leave that first net since nobody else wants to play with them at all.

Slice of life sessions are awesome when properly spaced. It tends to be a good time for players to find out a little more about who their characters are and kind of plan out to a certain extent where their characters are going once they've actually gotten into the game a bit.
I remember back when I first started playing in 2E, our characters were assumed to have quite a few social/political obligations and sometimes the downtime between adventures actually spanned years of time in game.

And that's why I reserve the right to refuse anyone to play in my games.

>>enjoy a hobby
>>some losers are trying to shit over your hobby
>>"just let them nothing matters anyways"
>No.
Why else do you think I'm complaining about this thread?

Most of those shitposts are from people from this thread whining about badwrongfun though. That's like when the Libs giving guns to Mexican Cartels in order to whine about how guns are evil and dangerous.
It's a fucking stupid self-fulfilling prophecy

>It's not bad by any means, but you WILL catch all the pond scum that filters through the hobby first because these are entry games and they often rarely leave that first net since nobody else wants to play with them at all.

Is PF an entry game because of popularity, complexity, or both? The pattern I used to see was 4e/5e - Pathfinder - Anima - Pathfinder, since most people want a little more agency and crunch after they get the hang of things, and eventually discover where their comfort with rules complexity ends and settle back into a game that had the best balance for them. I always thought of PF as being towards the higher end of complexity, but not quite Anima levels of mechanics overload.

They can be fun as hell if you know what you're doing.

I tend to borrow social and relationship mechanics from other games, having the players write letters back and forth with loved ones, friends, business associates, and generally keeping track of the players larger finances and social webs.

It also leaves a lot of room for base building if that's what they're in to.

I had one player who spent 90% of her characters at-home downtime managing a farm and experimenting with different plants. She loved that more than adventuring. (Unless they ran into exotic plants or something, then she was all over it.)

>let the players play two different characters they can swap out between days at whatever base they have set up
>the unused characters form their own party and have their own adventure for the day so as to not allow abuse of downtime

How bad of an idea is this, /pfg/?

Sounds like it could be fun. How many players do you have?

Posting in both threads

Dafuq is with the Nagaji? The premise is interesting enough I guess, but I've never seen them used, utilized, or even really talked about in any PF material, it their homelands for that matter.
Is there any use to to gained from playing as one?

>inb4 whiny bitch gets triggered and whines about furfags

>Is there any use to to gained from playing as one?
You get to have fun playing a Nagaji. That's something.

I English; "it took us six months to complete the campaign, and two party members died."

Anyone who's sane does.
The complexity attracts a certain type of player, but ultimately the ridiculous sprawling popularity and longevity of 3e in it's various shapes is what makes it an entry game; for a very long time it seemed every "new" game that came out was just another d20 System game, so basically everything filtered down to 3e, which eventually became Pathfinder after 3e was kicked for 4e.
Pathfinder is complex (sometimes overly so and only in the weirdest and most nonsensical ways) and not easy to learn, but these things have nothing to do with being entry games at all; notability and popularity with large numbers however DO.
D&D5e will one day supplant Pathfinder as an entry game for some players excepting those who left behind simply because of product notability, as did 2e before all other games once upon a bygone age.

Also it doesn't help how much goddamn fetish bullshit there is in the Golarion setting as it is. I don't know exactly what kind of goddamn crowd Paizo thought they'd attract but there you go.

I have a similar player! She's into cartography and engineering and likes to draw maps, so her characters always have professions like innkeeper, architect, etc. so she can design the buildings she owns or builds and map them out. In one of our longer running games, she had safe rooms with teleportation circles and underground linkage tunnels throughout several major cities. I was forced to reluctantly admit that we had hit a point where she knew more about my world than I did.

Here is my theory:

>There is enough complexity for rule-munchers to spend literally months optimizing characters and arguing over builds.
>There is plenty of options and the standard "dm roll behind the screen" gameplay means that a decent DM means everyone has fun.
>The fundamental game mechancis, even at level 1, provide a interesting tactical movement game that is complex and interesting, yet easy to grasp the basics of.

The last one is why I think other RPG games like shadowrun, world of darkness, etc. are just never as popular. They just don't have that little chess minigame that is actually really fun.

Sounds like a blast man. That's how it should be.

Four. The main reason I was considering this is because due to an Iron Gods campaign we had wipe a mount or so ago, they all felt they were very ill prepared for the campaign. This way if they come upon a challenge their characters or party makeup are simply unprepared for, they can retreat and switch characters to something more suitable to fight.

>D&D5e will one day supplant Pathfinder as an entry game for some players excepting those who left behind simply because of product notability, as did 2e before all other games once upon a bygone age.
I disagree. The release schedule for 5th edition is so slow it might as well be vaporware. At this rate there just isn't enough content. There aren't enough pages to offer enough different character options to have an interesting, year long relationship with the game and it makes me sad. I like 5.0.

Well done man. Keep it up.

At the very least, come up with a major city. They'll want to go there for shopping if nothing else. Other than that you don't need to worry, the PCs won't try to go somewhere they have no reason to.

>Iron Gods campaign we had wipe a mount or so ago
Where? Iron gods is well known for being a bit lethal and swingy. I blame the high damage dice of the weapons and the x3 crits on everything.

Planar binding is fun and flavorful, it shouldn't be banned entirely. Just ban the really abusive shit, like chain-binding and summoning efreet for wishes.

They've got decent stats and racial traits, make for solid cavaliers, paladins, sorcerers, etc. I think they're probably one of the least used or mentioned PF races though, despite having prominent entries in a couple books. I think there are just a lot of reptilian PC options out there, and people rarely equate reptiles with charming bodybuilders, so it caters to a very limited crowd.

I'd say try it man. Just run it like a merc company or something, with maybe a commander npc and some other support npcs.

maybe like xcom in pathfinder.

Wiped on Furkas Xoud. Got trapped in the boss room with him and he wiped half the party with a fireball and the other half with the grapple robot thing.

A paladin Nagaji sounds rad.

What are you thinking as far as the character? Any themes you want to explore that would compliment this one?

That's not a long time.

So /pfg/ if you where a sentient cat, tiny in size, what would you ride into battle?

A goat?

>The release schedule for 5th edition is so slow it might as well be vaporware.

Plus 5e is being written by more PF 3pp companies than actual WotC employees. As far as I can tell, it exists for the sole purpose of maintaining licensing rights so Hasbro can continue to rake in cash on non TTRPG D&D products.

Their skin was too thin. I like DSP but I'm glad they're gone, their refusal to ignore shitposters ruined a lot of threads.

>And why do we welcome advertisers here? Good content or no, I though Veeky Forums was a no-shilling-zone?

Using your own name to answer questions and take feedback in (semi-)official capacity because you like your job is the literal opposite of shilling.

/pfg/ can't ignore shitposters. Just blame the shitposters for shitposting.

I'm curious, a player of mine wants to create a character who's body is magically damaged. We've been trying to think of what affects magic would cause on the body. Like would White hair be a thing? fading of the eyes? could i work this into the game itself?

If anything it's trying to reach out to and understand the people you're making products for.

It has nothing to do with content, like I said.
Pathfinder for some time was an entry game and it's needlessly complex in certain areas, speaking as a fan. This is not friendly or good to new players at all, and it doesn't present a welcoming environment.
It's brand recognition and notability, that's it.
Paizo advertised HARD after 3e died, and folks switching to it made a whole lot of noise about it.
It's just time doing what it does; eroding things and causing people to not like the things you liked because they're older and there's these newer things that are more approachable to them simply because they're newer and you've heard of them before everything else.
It's not bad or good. It just is. Like gravity.

It helps that WotC has a crazy huge budget for advertising and any MtG player has already heard of D&D even if he's somehow never heard of it before simply because he buys WotC products and thus sees the little adds in boosters and decks and other WotC products.

Not the person originally asking about nagaji, but I like the idea of doing a nagaji paladin up as a "Dragon Emperor", maybe tread on the far edge of Lawful Good with a little too much emphasis on the Lawful part. What would be a good weapon for a character like that?

Good faith shilling is still shilling. They have a financial interest at stake.

Mass hair bleaching can actually be a result of severe trauma, look up Marie Antoinette syndrome.

Fading of the eyes would be typical for an oracle character or maybe a wizard who has "seen too much"

Both of those have dozens of plot hooks attached to them.

A glaive. Go full Guan Yu.

en.wiktionary.org/wiki/shill

If you're doing it openly and not trying to pretend to be something you're not, it's not shilling.

Because it does, rather obviously at that. Which really doesn't matter in the long run.
See .
Pathfinder is just going to get older and older and older, and in 25 years the people playing it will be the same people playing it now with some new exceptions, just like happened to every other damn edition of D&D.

Shit wears down over time man.
You can tell yourself that your generation is special and the things it loves will last forever, but literally every generation ever has thought that and been proven wrong eventually.

Just ignore the shill shitposter.

I'd say a glaive. Or you could Chinaman it up and use a Guandao which is near the same.

Alternatively you could use a hand cannon, if your DM will allow it.

So nothing guys?

Do you think an oversized rooster would be too much?

Be a cat.

RIDING A BIGGER CAT!

Like a lion.

So like a lynx or something?

That might work.

A nagaji paladin with a glaive and Combat Patrol.

So would I like just sit on his shoulders or something? Or would he be wearing a little cat tree backpack for me to stand on?

I don't want to limit your creativity here. The backpack seems like a nice touch though.

Well I can't actually get a Nagaji Paladin to act as my mount so no worries.

I'll probably just go with a dire rooster or something.

>Alternatively you could use a hand cannon, if your DM will allow it.

A hand what now? I think firearms would take too many feats, and nagaji have a STR bonus so it seems like melee would be the way to go.

It's also called a handgonne. Basically a small cannon on a stick, or sometimes just held in your hands.

Once expended they double as the worlds heaviest club.

They're also older than what people typically think of when they hear the words "full plate"

Just seems fitting for the Dragon Emperor to have a club that also breathes fire and hot metal.

Make it clear that they're not welcome.

Last play who tried to pull some magical realm shit at my house got thrown out.

Every time it happens online it's a quick click and a boot.
