All the kids from Homestuck. It's pretty much Sidereal Exalted: the Webcomic.

The kids are destined to be heroes from birth by the heavenly forces of Creation, leading seemingly ordinary lives until they awaken to their roles and are taken away from everything they've ever known to fight for something larger than they've ever understood.
They have access to magic that can manipulate the world like a computer program, and is in fact built into reality for a mysterious cosmic purpose.
Their own personal titles come with powers that are esoteric, abstract, and metaphorical in nature, and have as much to do with their place in the plot and the roles they're destined to play as they do with their powers and skills.
The series is filled with fate and prophecy, and involves the children of Destiny struggling with what the future must be, while at the same time trying to make it a future worth fighting for.

If there's ever a story that captures the Sidereal experience, Homestuck is it.

So, what's your favourite edition?
strawpoll.me/10790867

Doomguy is the Exigent. Of himself.

Right now 2.5 for content
It'll probably be 3e soon ("soon")
I hope for a 3.5 of Exalted, as the current core looks halfassed.

>"The Military Power of the Satrapy is Immense, consisting of one Realm Legion at 50% strength, its Auxilaries at 30% strength, a basic native militia roughly 1,250 men strong, and Sesus Ulyssian. However, over 75% of its military power is concentrated in the person of Sesus Ulyssian."

Just Solar things.

>If there's ever a story that captures the Sidereal experience, Homestuck is it.
Except the multitude of parts with time shenanigans.

Naw, just nitpicking, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. Prospit and Derse even have the Heavenly Bureaucracy shtick going on (or would in a normal game of Sburb).

>Jade has a denomination called the Shekel

Dragonbloods confirmed for Happy Merchants?

Their state religion does state that those who are not Dragonblooded must serve the Dragonblooded... Are there any derogatory terms the Dragonblooded use for non-Dragonblooded?

Anathema for Celestials

Mortal is already pretty arrogant and derogatory. Their religion also includes a sort of noblesse oblige, so they're not really supposed to be mean to their lessers.

So would or would it not be apropos to make a Dragonblooded of House Ragara based off of pic related?

Ask your players (and/or) GM, not Veeky Forums

I thought generals are usually more lively

Yeah, and the word "condescension" used to mean something like "being nice to your social inferiors." Given its modern meaning, you can guess how that ended up.

But it does have that meaning still, people just get very very upset about the implication of being socially inferior in the age of human rights&equality&tumblr.

Perhaps making a character based off a racist caricature is something you shouldn't do at all.

It's actually really easy to get away with basing a character off a racist caricature as long as you a) don't use specific words like goy, and b) don't make them actually that race. So you make the greedy, lying, thieving merchant who loves nothing so much as money, but you name him Mnemon Povo and give him spiky blue hair.

Not much in the way of active games, recent releases or dev fuckups to discuss.

...

Its hard trying to find a game. I want to learn exalted but there's no games.

Since the guild doesn't have a coherent hierarchy or registered membership, and all guild cabals are different, how does one know they're taling to another guildsman?

Take it on faith?

They have a secret language IIRC.

My ST is looking for another player for a game set in Magical Kievan Rus. Roll20, Sundays, shall I try to put you in touch?

How do they stop this being taught to randoms?

Bad for business.

All of them.
Well, maybe with some exceptions...

What time on sundays? I have a 5e game i run with friends on sunday

Evening GMT.

I can most likely do that. We might move my d&d group to saturday anyways

I'm playing an Exalted game as a godblooded-turned-solar who takes heavily after her father, who's a god of lions, winds, and riddles. She looks like a sphinx. Am I a bad person?

Yes, but that's because you post on a korean stylized fingerpainting board, the character is fine.

I've read that line somewhere...

Exalted Quest on SV?

Most High on SV and maybe SV. That and the Odyssey (both from the same author) are the only quests I actually like.

It was really neat.

>maybe SB
oops

I thought so. And i suppose the fact i remember it is testament to it's quality.

But i disagree it's the only good quest out there.

Exalted Quest on tg (now qst), Panopticon, the Warhammer Fantasy Dynasty Quests are all pretty good.

>What characters from other media would make sense as Exalted?

Wryman doesn't make sense, Creation doesn't even have steamrollers.

It could be a first age artifact.

I have a weird obsession with OP images and Punisher
Which one's better - 1...

...or 2?

stap me

caп 2creation

Better than 1

2

Yes, dark sun.

Love the name sounds egdy and brutal as fuckl

I really frank how frank is franking his frank here.

That's just Five Days Darkness.

Please explain that to me, I dont know much about Exalted.

Read up on the basic setting and the different kinds of Exalted.

I guess dark light is cool for the same reason lihjt in darkness is cool.

Radiance blowing the fuck out of the opposite.

Anyone have any custom Nations/City-States/Empires they or their storyteller made up at the start of the game to flesh out the map? Not nations made by the players but nations that just happened to be there in your games.

I am in a bit of a slump on that front and could use some inspiration.

Correct me if I am wrong here but it seems in third edition you get a specialty dice for any specialty applicable to the roll in the ability related to it. So could a mortal very specialized have enough bonus dice to fight an exalted?

Specialties don't stack. You only get attribute+ability+1 die from specialty, no matter how many are relevant.

Five Days Darkness is basically the sun's living, sentient shadow.

All in all he's a pretty nice guy and totally not a bad guy as one would expect.

very solar

Doesn't he give already OP assholes all sorts of random unbalanced power boosts?

He's also the god of Calibration IIRC.

Is there any noob's guide to Exalted? Both lore and mechanics

No

1d4chan.org/wiki/Exalted

forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?769761-Exalted-3E-Combat-301

So he's basically Mystical kung-fu Garrus?
youtube.com/watch?v=SIgBXQcymzY

"Calibration" in Exalted is the five-day holiday between years when the moon disappears and the metaphorical world servers reboot to fix fate glitches that cropped up during the last year.

But there is a god of lowercase calibration that has nothing to do with Calibration, right?

Perhaps.

There was in 2e. There _probably_ still is in 3e, but it's a little unclear now how far down there are gods for things. It might be part of the job of the God of Guns or some such.

Hmm, makes sense.

You imply I'm not Jewish, user. I'm American first, but I'm of the Ashkenazim, ethnically speaking.

So take your self-righteous shit and shove it up your ass.

alright, calm down shekelmeister

That's Mr. Shekelmeister Satan to you, user.

And I'm the Pope. Pleased to meet you.

Anyways, what kind of stupid combat builds can you make? Is grappling and then chucking people good, or should I stick to the "hit someone fifty times" part of Brawl?

Hitting people fifty times is more effective, but grappling is more entertaining.

>What characters from other media would make sense as Exalted?
Returning to the OP, Doctor Strange is an excellent example of a heroic Infernal.

His backstory starts with him being a highly skilled and talented professional who lost everything due to both an accident and his own arrogance, before going on a journey to seek help in a distant land, and finding the power to reclaim what he's lost, but a new sense of purpose. His mystical powers are many and varied, being less physical and more strange than those of most other superbeings. Most of his spells invoke the power of a multitude of otherworldly entities from alien dimensions, or even those dimensions themselves. He frequently travels to other worlds and meets these entities, either to battle them to protect the world, or because of the deals he makes with them to gain his powers.

He's even got the third eye thing from the Eye of Agamotto, which matches perfectly with the Defiler Caste. And he's definitely the kind of person to exposit on his plans at length if he can get away with it.

Grappling ain't that bad but isn't amazing without charms. I haven't explored the Grappling charms but I'm guessing they turn the option into something quite terrifying when applied properly.

Talking about kind of stupid combat builds, the basic Melee package of Excellent Strike, Fire and Stone Strike, One Weapon Two Blows makes for some pretty stupid situations when the stars are right. My newby player won his duel against a Black Claw Stylist even though he was crashed. Withering Attack triggering into One Weapon Two Blows for a second Withering, Crashing the opponent, Initiative Shift into a Decisive Attack that one-shots the poor soul with exactly seven lethal damage inflicted in the final blow. All of that in an Instant, from Initiative Crash.

The stupidest combat build is just Solar Melee.

>And I'm the Pope
Stop ruining the church, Francis.

Nah m8. Solar melee is pretty good right out of the box, but Brawl+Athletics+Dodge with a supernal in one of those two is some scary shit. Brawl's aggression plus Athletics' damage boosters plus Dodge's...well, basically all of it's charms makes a mean combo.

Am I the only one who thinks Doctor Strange looks like Iselsi Shen, the signature Twilight?

In a cosmic coincidence our party's Twilight is also from a Drgon Blooded house and called Shen.

Stealth + Single Point can be pretty crazy, too. Roll join battle, kill someone, reflexively pop back into stealth and re-roll join battle. Good to go next round, too.

Francis is cool, shut yer mouth.

How many people have found an Ex3 game through Veeky Forums?

If you're a bigger fan of Marx than Christ, Francis is a great pope.

Or if you're a big fan of Christ and his actual actions instead of the dogma set up after his death.

I'm sorry, remind me when Jesus humbled himself before people dedicated to slaughtering his disciples.

No, but I imagine that there was more than a little influence when it came to Shen's look, too.

Jesus is more socialist than capitalist, comrade. And Marx did nothing wrong.
This reminds me to ask. Do you get out of Initiative Crash when you go back to positive Initiative or do you have to survive 3 rounds without dying to reset?

Well he only had like 12 back then, and the Romans were pretty determined to get rid of him and his followers. So when he allowed himself to be captured and executed, he wasn't exactly bossing them around.

>Do you get out of Initiative Crash when you go back to positive Initiative or do you have to survive 3 rounds without dying to reset?

The former. Reaching any positive initiative ends Crash, it's just that surviving 3 rounds in Crash automatically resets you, putting a hardcap on how long it can last.

As soon as you get to at least 1 Initiative (or is it 0?), or the 3 rounds pass, whichever comes first.

>Or if you're a big fan of Christ and his actual actions instead of the dogma set up after his death.
Catholicism is based on the legitimacy of Church tradition/dogma. You're basically saying no Catholic should like Francis.

I'm saying Catholics should respect the infallible pope, propped up by their dogma, because this one's acting like their Christ, the reason the dogma and papacy has any authority or popularity at all.

No Catholic should be a Catholic, desu. Neither Catholics nor non-Catholics should discuss matters of faith on /exg/, though.

Hey, I think the Mouth of Peace has done a lot to take the Immaculate Faith back to its roots of charity and noblesse oblige, praise the dragons.

You don't know what Papal infallibility means. Hint: it doesn't mean the Pope is infallible.

Sorry.

I have problems with mote conservation.

Specifically that I'm afraid to spend motes lest I not have enough later in the typical "RPG Effect". Any tips to help me shake this? Should I even shake this habit?

You regenerate 5 per round in combat, 5 per hour out of combat while doing shit, and 10 per hour out of combat while chilling.
This basically allows you to toss some about without fretting so much, you'll rarely be forced to spend it all before the hour's up, and in combat you'll almost have to spend those 5m, and end up spending more if you want to win.

What I'm mainly worried about is finishing a fight, and then have to start another with substantially lower notes.

I was worried about that too, so I actually threw in like 5 dots to grab a Manse and an artifact pendant character creation then stuck a hearthstone in the the pendant.
Turns out, I really didn't need that extra 2 motes of regen out of combat ever. You regenerate essence pretty damn fast.

As long as you don't entirely deplete yourself, keep some escape options open to you, diplomacy, stealth, running, mounts/vehicles.
A good gm would usually only do 1 fight then give a little bit of time for you to restore some of it. It's only a problem if you have a brash party that seeks danger right after a fight.
Keep an ace or two up your sleeve, don't blow your whole wad, and make sure your allies also have your back in case something surprises you, otherwise take it one fight at a time.

Mountain-Crossing Leap, Belt of Shadow Walking, and Travel Without Distance are all good panic buttons.
