Infinity General: Just Starting out Edition

Infinity is a 28mm scale skirmish game by Corvus Belli where pool parties just don't stop. They don't call the planet 'Paradiso' for nothing.

I think the strawpol might need a slight refresh. I have trouble believing that PanO is one of the least played factions.

Well, it's certainly underpowered compared to Nomads or Ariadna, so I can see it.

Nomads and Ariadna are IIRC most-played factions. PanO's awfully close though.

So i pulled the trigger and bought some reasonable islam, i went with the Hassassin Bahram box purely on aethetics (I loved the sniper model and the Jumptroop) and got an additional Lasiq (sniper) and a 2nd Ragik (jump troop) but with a spitfire instead of his standard load out. Where should i go from there? I keep reading that Nafta troops are the beesknees with their heavy flamethrowers
Am I shoehorned into playing sectoral or could i pick up some nonhassassin models and do a vanilla list with what I have

I need some list-tweaking advice. Playing Engineering Deck against a PanO player (I won't find out until I get there if he's playing a sectorial).

Would you keep the Transducer in CG2, or would you rather see the Hellcat upgraded to a Spitfire? The Spitfire makes my life a lot easier in terms of engagement ranges and throwing Burst around, but the Transdeucer is an extra Repeater and most importantly, another Order in that pool.

(Note that while Engineering Deck doesn't allow for AD 3-5, the Tomcat and/or Hellcat can still just walk on to the board via AD2).

How the heck do you not know what sectorial he's playing?

It's a league where people are only bound to faction, not to sectorials. So since I'm playing Nomads, I have the option to play Vanilla, Corregidor, or Bakunin for each of the 6 games.

I was looking at this list for Engineering Deck at first. Bakunin Riot Grrl Pain Train, with an emphasis on just killing everything on the board and then worrying about connecting consoles later. Then I realized that I could still bring on AD troops from the board edges in the scenario - instead of AD being unuseable altogether - and I went back to the sectorial with which I'm a little more comfortable.

I've run a lot of Riot Grrl links. I personally don't see a use for multirifle grrl. Specialist is 2 points cheaper, and AROs arguably better due to the huge range improvement of the Blitzen.

Zero FO, I generally prefer as a KHD. It's only a few points more, but melts enemy hackers.

Not sure about Rev Moira sniper, for presumably ARO duty. I'd prefer a Sin Eater for that duty, as the neurocinetics are brutal...

Oddly enough, the poll showing Yu King and Haqqislam top fits my gamestore pretty well. Half of the guys here have either one or both as an army.
The rest of the poll is completely wonky.

meta-chemistry.com/2016/04/01/hassassin-bahram/

>I personally don't see a use for multirifle grrl

You can use a coordinated order on troops in a link, and put them onto suppressive fire. Multi rifles in suppressive fire are damned mean. So put the spitfire, ML, Combi/Blitzen, and Multi onto suppressive with a coordinated order, and that group can fuck up anything in the game.

I'd go with your Bakunin list, actually. It's better equipped to deal with hordes of TO models, since the MSV1 and link bonuses cancel out the -6.

I'm concerned about the Moira sniper too. Only three orders isn't much. That said, it's not like you can't move her into the first combat group during the late-game.

I also advise in favor of the KHD Zero. I understand that FO Zeros are great specialists and you need those in a list that short. But the KHD Zero is a specialist as well, it kills hackers D-E-D dead, and most importantly, you already have the 2 points available to upgrade it. The only downside is losing out of potential Classifieds.

>I also advise in favor of the KHD Zero.
>KHD Zero

Stupid question, but do other allied hacking devices still automatically function as Repeaters the way they did in N2? So in this case, the KHD Zero also can act as an infiltrating Repeater for the Custodier.

I thought they acted as repeaters in N3, but I can't find it on the wiki.

>I'm terrible on hacking rules. Our whole meta still avoids TAGs and HI entirely (or plays Ariadna), because like a quarter the meta is Nomads and there were several high-profile Possessed TAGs back when we all first started.

That's some dirty tech with the smoke and the Fiday, good podcast. I'm still wondering though since i started with the Hassassin Baram box am i shoe horned into sectoral? Or can i expand into a vanilla or non sectoral list with what i have if i pick up some Naftas

Where do you go from the corregidor starter? Should I just make a wildcat pain train and fill the rest of my points with a doc eng and some cheap source of orders?

Quick question:

Does Duroc count as HI when he gets hit with E/M ammo? I wanna know if he'll get immobilized or not

They don't anymore.
Also support hacking > combat hacking nowadays IMO.

Duroc is WB so no. Margot is HI though so she can be immobilized.

Jaguar to provide smoke for your Intruder and Tomcats or Support Box. Moran is never amiss.

Spitfire for sure, you need more burst and range. Go 2nd the Tomcat will win you the game on turn 3.

he shouldn't be playing that Corregidor list at all on Engineering Deck, and especially not against PanO. How's he going to deal with Cutter, Swisses, Aquilas, Bulleteers, or infiltrating TO Crocs?

The Bakunin riot Girl list () has enough firepower to actually win a shootout, plus it's got some better toolbox troops that can specifically win that scenario. Have the Zero open the door to the Objective Room and lob a repeater in there, and nobody who's worthwhile on PanO is going to go hear it. Riot Girls have specialists now; they can can just run around the board, actually outshoot almost anything in PanO's inventory due to MSV and link bonuses, still push buttons, and they take a huge investment in firepower to kill since they're all 2-wound troops.

I'd agree with the sin-eater on the second combat group, but aside from that it's a really good list for taking on any of the "box room objective" type missions.

Hey Nomad players, what do your Iggy lists look like?

Cheers, couldn't find it on the phone list
builder

New FAQ. Aerocam rules! Fucking finally!

They don't. TAGs still aren't viable. Too expensive.

Any PanO player here who could tell me how to make proper use of a Santiago Knight?
I really want to use one or two, but can't really find the sweet spot.

What, really? I'm new to the game and 70 something points doesn't seem that bad for Iggy

>underpowered
>already ridiculously underpriced as is

TAGs are harder to hide from attacks than standard-size models, and there are a lot of ways for them to be brought down very quickly. Once they die, they take a big chunk of your points with them, which could have been spent to fill more roles, or add some redundancy to your list.

>The best way to play them is NCA.
>Everyone says bolts are overpriced and crap.
>They're the best, and also expensive.
You are a retard.

To be fair, most people who post here are pretty trash tier.

How many Lasiqs would you consider to be too many? I have 2 and they're all stars i'm almost tempted to buy a 3rd but I'm hard pressed on dropping 75 points on 3 of them.

I have carried out numerous experiments proving my point:

infinitytheforums.com/forum/topic/26045-did-n3-ruin-tags-the-experiment-commences/#comment-557379

Well RIP In Piss then. Iggy was what got me into Nomads

so, in my opinion, about units, the PanO is useless

LI

FUSILIERS - still more expensive than his settings. but not much.

Acontecimento REGULARS - As expensive but have some interesting options

TRAUMA-DOCS & MACHINISTS - Behold, the most dreadful price for a poor product

AUXILIA - Lost Synchronized, so the price is simply inadequate

HEXAS - high price TO trooper

ORDER SERGEANTS - good option for a good price

KAMAU - That is the level of normal light infantry of PanO

MI

AKALIS - something strange but with EM weapons. But but they know nothing about CC, so not an option.

KIRPAL SINGH - not interesting

NISSES - Veteran without "Veteran" skill, which is used in extreme conditions without BTS. strange but not bad

BOLTS - unique and the best linear soldiers. Without alternative. Want to win - you MUST buy them

BAGH-MARI Unit & STEPHEN RAO - one more Veteran without "Veteran" skill

CRUSADER - still good but still without CC

HI

ORC - just as costly and as helpless

HOSPITALLIER - best knights with wery less CC

FATHER-KNIGHTS - not bad hacer end Missile Launcher

AQUILA GUARD - after deleting MSV3 its model has EXTREMELY HIGH PRICE

SWISS GUARD - stil not bad, HAC TAO but for the same money has much better options

JOAN OF ARC & JOAN OF ARC 2.0 - A mediocre parameters of heavy infantry of most powerful nation. Except WIP - WIP is good. Lieutenant options -standart fo class

GUARDA DE ASSALTO - a very high price for bad weapons and options

SANTIAGO - knights who are unable to CC but costly

MONTESA - All bad

SEPULCHRE - Extremely high price for nothing

TEUTONIC KNIGHTS - Second after Hospitaller knights

MAGISTERS - Direct standard - high price low parameters

GABRIELE DE FERSEN - balanced

TAG

SQUALOS - mediocre options for mediocre price

DRAGĂ•ES - price is above parameters

CUTTERS - without HF have a fantastic price

UHLANS - normal

TIKBALANGS - normal

are you on drugs

It's a bit of bait.

Iguana's one of the better TAGs: inexpensive, decent stats, carries a repeater, effective 4 wounds. It only really lacks typical TAG heavy armour. Just don't expect it to survive, it's meant to eat damage and eject the pilot, hopefully taking down a bunch of stuff with it; basically clearing the way for your Tomcats or infiltrators.

Ok so through years of hoarding and random gifting from people, I have in my Infinity pile:
2x Nomads Half of Ice Storm with Healers
New Nomads Starter so Ice Storm Minus Healer
Tomcats Box
Interceptors Box
Iguana

Was wondering what I can do with this as a pure beginner. Never had anywhere that played Infinity and have tables set up for it until quite recently so now that I do have a place and a mate who had the other half of the Ice storm boxes, in going to finally pick this up. Anything. Else I should buy? I'm not against buying stuff considering my hobby money is going into this since I own all I want from my other systems.

Yeah that's what I thought. The fact it can eject a dude with a machine gun was why I thought the points was at least worth it

Well, they all have Fireteam: Duo, don't they?
Take one with Spitfire and one paramedic, if you want to use just two, or take all 4 (Paramedic, Spitfire and two cheaper ones) and add Joan for a Santiago Pain Train.
I wouldn't play one in vanilla though, I'd rather take a Father-Knight or an ORC, for that HMG.

So who's copypasta bait is this?

You shouldn't buy anything else for now, you have more than enough stuff to learn the game with. 3 times the starter set is a bit overkill, but I guess you can make use of Alguaciles having AVA: Total.
Just use the army builder to form a 200pts list with what you have and remember the community is often lax about proxying (those Spektrs could make for good Zeroes and a Healer could pretend to be a Custodier for example).

Honestly just go shoot stuff, the Iguana has the benefit of not being useless after it takes two hits

Do you even understand what you're talking about? It looks like you don't even play or understand this game.

This is why we need those Tactica pages on 1d4chan. So people stop spewing bullshit like this.

The meme is that anything more than 30pts isn't worth it in ITS, because the point of ITS is to move your dudes around and push buttons, and the more orders you have available, the more buttons can be pushed during your turn. Therefore, the objectively correct way to play is to maximize the number of dudes you have on the table whenever possible.

It's mainly a meme, but there is *some* truth to it. Having more dudes is USUALLY better in ITS play. However, heavy-hitting, fast, armored units can hold areas of the table very effectively due to the combination of high ARM, cover, and (usually) long-range weapons. TAGs are often good, but they are not always good. The only things that are ALWAYS good these days in Infinity are Posthumans and Ghazi (both of which are ludicrously undercosted for their game-changing ability).

If I wanted to run an Iguana list with (mostly) the stuff from , this'd be my first draft. Good LT, brutal hacking (allowing you to be aggressive with the KHD Interventor and hold the LT back and work through the repeaters) and a fuck-ton of repeaters, an AD threat, some mid-field control (Moran), some chain rifles vs TO, a reactive turn threat (Sin-earter) and a whole mess of specialists for ITS. Tomcat would start on the board, though, with the Hellcat deploying off-board. As stuff from Group 1 dies, move stuff from Group 2 in to keep 10 orders in the group to fuel the Iguana.

3. Normally a single Lasiq would be enough but I could see one of each profile being alright. More than that is definitely too much though

That's what i've been doing, one (non sniper rifle) forward for pressure and the other (with sniper) to cover an opposite lane and for pressure

Like I said. Years of hoarding problems. Spektrs and Healers bad or something? Why use them for other units?
I will probably do that because my mate bought all the PanO TAG's
Ok so that's more of an ITS thing than just downright TAG are shit?
Thanks for the base list to work with. Are the Jaguars necessary? I'm not a huge fan of the nodels

>Spektrs and Healers bad or something? Why use them for other units?
No, but Spektr is more expensive while Zeroes are super cheap; it's common to use either one Spektr or multiple Zeroes. It's a choice between more expensive TO Camo or cheaper Camo troops, since they have a similar role.
Note that you also have Prowlers and Bandits for your Camo Infiltrator purposes; each unit is a bit different, with none strictly "better" than other without sacrificing something.

Healers are okay, although a bit slow and potentially fragile on their own. Custodier is basically like a Healer, but a Hacker+ and with better defensive mods. You can actually link Custodiers with one Healer if you decide to play Bakunin (although considering the Healers are your only Bakunin models, you'd have to proxy pretty much everything).

Both Reverends have their niche in vanilla. With Interventors in your roster you may want to play a Healer more than a Custodier, but you'll want a Zondbot for her.

Jaguars are a reliable warband and Intruder's best friends. But if you play vanilla (and don't care for the Intruder), you could substitute them with Uberfallkommando (pic related) or Morlocks for warband purposes or just Alguaciles/Moderators for Cheerleading.

When you learn hacking, you'll notice a want for Repeaters, and Nomads have a ton of them, but that's after you learn the basics.

You should not play Iguana right away, unless you're really determined to. You should start at 200pts with Brigadas as your main killers first.

Spektres are alright. They're basically the only TO that Nomads have, and they pay a pretty brutal premium for that. I'm not a huge fan of them, but I've seen them used reasonably well.

Doctors are always a bone of contention, because orders you spend healing are orders you aren't spending getting objectives and/or killing the other guy. Plus you can kill your own guy with bad enough rolls. Reverend Healers SPECIFICALLY are a bone of contention, because they're closer to the idea of a Haqq combat doc. That is, they're a combat model that can also heal, rather than a dedicated doc who fights a bit. They also suffer in comparison to Moiras because they're more expensive AND they only get Mimetism instead of ODD; if Healers had ODD like Custodiers and Moiras, and ditched the CCW stuff, they'd be a lot more popular.

And no, TAGs are not shit. They just *tend* to underperform in ITS. That said, if you're smart with them and the opponent doesn't have anti-TAG prepped in their list, they're in trouble, ITS or not.

Jaguars aren't necessary (nothing's really necessary save for maybe the Iguana)...but they're incredibly useful pieces. The fact that they give you smoke, AND a chain rifle, AND a regular order for *really* cheap is really valuable, the main alternative in the Nomads faction (Morlocks) are irregular, can't use cover, and can't help the rest of the combat group. You wouldn't have to use them, but if you did replace them with Morlocks you'd want to move the Morlocks to Group 2 and the Zonds up to Group 1 so your Iguana still could take 10 orders.

OK, so which of these should I take, then? Again, for Engineering Deck against Mystery PanO.

Anyone know how RobotJones does his pano armor color? I'm thinking there's VMC bluegreen in there, I'm not sure about the base colour and the highlight...

I want to copy his Bagh Mari scheme for my Pano.

IIRC, Hassassin's were often seen as a pointless sectorial that couldn't do much that wasn't possible in Vanilla Haqq. That might have changed some with new releases and HSN3, but I'm pretty sure the starter set at least is perfectly legal in Vanilla.

Wildcats aren't the only option for Corregidor, but seeing as you already have 3 from the starter, they are most effective in a link or Haris, so you should at least grab a special weapon for them.

Jaguars are great. has solid advice. Corregidor has lots of good units.

I read the Uberfalls are a little tricky to use because of the way their orders work? I love the models though. Also good thing I love the Mobile Brigadas
Have to look more into it
What bots should I get and is Bran ok?

I use VMC Black, Medium Blue, and White

You get __that__ from one blue? Wow, I'm even more impressed.

Bran is okay. He's useful for tying people up in CC and taking objectives. Always infiltrate him and make use of those mobility skills to put him in a good position, otherwise you might as well use a Bandit.

Daylami, Ragik and especially Fiday are solid in both, but I would generally only take Muyibs and Lasiqs in sectorial.

NCA has been dominating tournaments on the USA West coast.

Play neither. Engineering Deck always turns into a medium-range shootout. Nobody but Tohaa and MAF can compete with them in that field, so play a different faction.

Guys, I have a theory.

If Trump gets in, he's gonna bring America to financial ruin. And when the US coughs, the rest of the world catches a cold (or in this case, aids). So when this happens, a lot of countries may join together in order to weather the storm. Boom, we get Pan Oceania and Yu Jing.

You're worried about TO and ODD and your solution is to pick the sectoral that's limited to MSV1 instead of the one that can bring an Intruder? Even without the Intruder that Corregidor list has enough tools to take on everything you listed with all the templates and smoke he's packing.. The hardest thing to crack would be the Aquilla which he has Massacre for, or just plain old B5 HMG. Bakunin can definitely take on the Aquilla easier because of white noise but not in that list since it doesn't combo with the Grrls visor.

>If Trump gets in, he's gonna bring America to financial ruin.
How's that?

I think they should make some changes to NCA, and I play them, I don't think they're overpowered, but I think it's stupid how NCA, the elite of the elite are often played as auxilia spam, a fusilier link, lots of bots and a swiss guard...

Too bad we'll only get NotTrueIslam out of it

Besides this and the guy's a tosser? Look at his track record.

>implying Trump will change anything
He couldn't bring about financial ruin by himself even if he wanted to. The rest of his party would never allow the banks to be fucked over like that. The most he might do is speed up the inevitable collapse that Wall Street has been working towards for decades.

...okay, point there. But still, we might be closer to the beginnings of the Infinity universe than you'd think, is the point im making.

>spics predicted the future
Oh shit son
Fukken gypsy caliber magiks at work

Maybe the spaniards have precognitive dreams. Makes you wonder what all those siestas are really for.

Highlights from the new FAQ stolen from the forums:

1. LoS can only be drawn from the front 180 of a silhouette if you have only 180 LoS.

2. Order spend on coordinated orders must come from the same combat group as the troopers who are being activated.

3. Aero Cam is a 360 visor

4. You can cancel the engaged state with enemies in null states.

5. A failed guts check cancels suppressive fire

6. Deployable equipment, even if represented by a figure, does not draw impetuous troops. (this includes imetrons/netrods)

7. You can't repair deployable equipment (see netrods etc)

8. You can measure ZoC before declaring a ZoC ARO

Love the ZoC and Coordinated order changes.

RobotJones why is Kanluwen such a bitch?

>Aero Cam is a 360 visor
About time that got clarified. Now my irregular 3 point ARO bitch will now be able to ARO even more effectively.

Why Infinity rules so bad? Why people play such overpriced game instead of Necromunda, Kill Team and Age of Sigmar?

So what REM are the most important for Nomads?

...

>GW
>better fluff
>better models and design
>better rules
>larger community
>Infinity
>muh metal
>muh Blizzard-tier design

Hey, don't you put Necromunda in your half-assed bait. It's a good game.

All of them. If you can only buy one then go for the standard zonds first since they're versatile and cheap, but all remotes are great.

>It's a good game.
So as other GW games.

In-play, it depends on what you want out of them. I consider Nomad remotes as specialist units (not ITS "specialists") in that they generally do 1-2 things and they do them as well or better than everyone else's REMs. They also have a wider breadth of capabilities to choose from overall; while each REM is optimized to do 1-2 things, the large number of them available means they can cover more roles with REMs than other factions. IMO about the only REM that outright outdoes Nomads is a Bulleteer, and then only in outright shootiness: Nomads have no REMs which compare to an ODD Spitfire at 23 points. Tsyklon is the closest with a Spitfire/X-visor/Repeater, and it's 31 points.

(A side note is that since practically all Nomad REMs are also repeaters, giving them hacker support is really, really easy and cheap. Once buffed, your REMs can get way more dangerous, and since a fair number of them have Climbing Plus, they *also* allow you to get close enough to OPFOR HI or TAGs to hack through the repeater.)

Basically, it's a matter of "what important task do you want your REM to do?" Unlike most other factions, Nomads probably have a REM for whatever that task is. I've probably gotten the most overall mileage out of some combination of Lundkhod (hunt/killer), Reaction (DZ defense), and Tranductor (cheap order that's also a repeater) zonds. I will say that dropping a Meteor Zond into a bunch of Ariadna camo tokens can be a gigantic payoff, though.

In terms of importance measured as "what models should I buy", I've found that I've gotten the most mileage out of buying the general Nomad Remotes box and magnetizing all the weapons. That'll get you the ability to run any two of a Reaction/Stempler/Transducter/Vertigo REM. If you run Corregidor, I'd buy the Lundkhod next; if you don't, I'd buy the Salyut box.

Full retard.

Lol. Every winning list I've seen has been 2 HI, a mix of Swiss and Aquila.

I even saw a list who finished 2-1 with a Bolt link.

NCA is awesome, one of my gotos.

Mostly after ones that I park on top of a building and dare people to walk by. Support for Drop Troops and other guys that are balls deep in the enemy side of the table would be another. Was thinking about getting the one with the Crazy Koalas because I love the idea of these things

Pretty fantastic changes in there.

In order:
Sensorbot
TR bot
Evo
Pitcher Tsyclon
Sniffer Bot
Lunkonhod w/Koalas

Mmm, mine flash pulsed a Hsien last week, shit was SO cash.

Feurbach has become a fantastic weapon post HS. Been bringing a Tsyclon in a lot of games.

> park on top of a building and dare people to walk by.

Reaction HMG, Lunokhod, and Transductor.

Because of (respectively) a total reaction HMG, CrazyKoalas *and* a heavy flamethrower ARO, and a ridiculously cheap repeater that's surprisingly hard to kill for its point-cost.

I will say that long-range fire support in REMs (ie, supporting your AD) is vanishingly rare. A GML *can* work given the right circumstances and setup(and the Reaction HMG, obviously), but aside from those you're basically going to have to run all the way across the board to help them. That's never a safe proposition for *anybody*, much less a REM.

Do note, however, the Salyut EVO Repeater and its attendant *automatic* effect on the PH of AD troops during their drop.

I'd say Rui Shi are also worth mentioning as competition for Nomad remotes. MSV2 is some nasty shit.

Lunokhods are great board control units, though easy to outrange if you position them poorly. Koalas are fucking brutal.

Oh, I forgot to link No.

Gross. I need some eyebleach.

>posting old stuff from outdated 40k
Nice cherry picking.

...

>best of the best

Kek, you mean get the shiniest toys.

Cmon you fucking peruvians, give us PanOs true elite, Varuna

Rui Shi are great, as is the holoprojector bot.

LIES.

Earth Bastion Army is the true elite.

Thanks Bros.
so are there actually only a couple of different kits and hey all come with bits to build their specific REM's? Because I don't see that many different models on the catalogue

There are kits for each type of REM that can be build different ways.

Like 1 kit comes with 2 of the TR/Sensor/Sniffer/GML REMS.

There's some good stuff too. I find that if they're redesigning an old unit it's not so bad, but most of the new units are such unbelievable fucking garbage it's a wonder that they got approved.

Is that seriously what you would call "good stuff"?
