What I want to know is: what was Lando doing in TFA?

Doing a little side scheme before Hosnian Prime got blown up, then freaking his shit and trying to keep his stock from plummeting after it got blown up. Probably figured that the usual suspects would clean up the galaxy like usual.

What, if any, homebrew rules do you guys usually implement when playing Star Wars Saga? I'm going to be GMing my first game in a few months. Right now I have two homebrew rules in mind.
>Collect Jump, Climb, and Swim into one Athletics skill
>Adjust Skill Training and Skill Focus to give, respectively, 3/4 and full level bonus to skill checks.
How do these sound?

Not really homebrew, but more of 'My Way or Don't Play': All Jedi or No Jedi.

Because of the power discrepancy between party members? And do you mean the Jedi class, or all people with Force Sensitivity and Force Training?

I've landed on Nar Shaddaa as an uncommon alien with nothing more than the clothes on my back. I have a contact there with a Hutt family of middling power. How do I start to build a smuggling network?

Acquire a ship, a crew, a fixer, a fence, and some investors.

...

Any advice for building a near-invincible droid in EOTE? Bonus if he ends up with a bit of melee potential.

Put 140 XP into Brawn 5. Start in the Hired Gun - Marauder Tree. With +10 Obligation you can buy Frenzied Attack, Toughened, Lethal Blows, and Enduring.

Throw on Padded Armor and you've got 8 soak, making you almost immune to small arms fire. Rifles will on average take 3 of your 17 Wounds. You already have a rank in Melee, or 2 if you're willing to take Strain, and even with a knife you can deal 6 damage before successes.

Honestly sounds like a pretty boring concept. But if that's what you want to do mechanically, that's the way to do it at character creation. Improve by taking more Enduring, Dedication (Brawn), Melee Ranks etc.

So was watching Rebels and well Kanan just sliced straight through the legs of an AT-AT like it was butter.

I like to think that he's the supply guy for wedge's cell of The Resistance

Thanks for that, this is for a one shot session so hopefully it won't get too boring.

A bit of background; the Droid's chassis is based on an old waste refining unit, think a britta filter for sewage dispensing chemically clean (but nonetheless funky tasting) water.

A scratched nameplate that once read "Urinal Treatment", has led the unit to believe that his name is "Urial Trent", and no amount of argument can convince him otherwise. At some point in his lifespan Urial has been outfitted for combat, possibly an attempt by an enterprising master to capitalise on the reinforced, radiation resistant hull of his refinement system. However, despite being built like a Phrik Shit-House, the Droid shows little aptitude for combat. Curious, optimistic and naive, Urial is unlikely to display any initiative beyond his original programming of "Dispense and Serve" but won't shy away from any direct commands to engage in battle. Though his lack of comprehension can grate at times, Urial is a staunch ally and a loyal companion to those who would call him friend.

I have this image of Uriel ushering a reluctant party member into his sewage storage tank for protection and completely misunderstanding why they might be hesitant to do so.

Obviously everything being written in Aurebesh is going to slightly ruin the name thing, but for the sake of the character I'm just going to pass it off as "It means urine, pronounced urial etc...".

>Filoni subcontracts Rebels episodes out to Platinum
Sounds like a recipe for fun.

Either out playing procurement chief to Wedge's Resistance unit or gone back to being a con-artist/gambler/high-stakes investor

Because in Saga Edition, Use The Force can be substituted for literally any other skill, making almost everyone who does NOT have Force powers irrelevant.

Not just for other skills, but also for defense against attacks. Force users were just so imbalanced in Saga Edition.

I knew about the Corellian Conflict campaign box for Armada, read the preview, etc., but I just noticed the price: $30. I'm not blown away by the price by any means, but I'm pleasantly surprised that's all it costs. Based on past experience, I would have guessed $40 or so.

>Expecting repackaged Caster Edition to not be Caster Edition

The fact that it has no models really keeps the price from going crazy. I'm personally pretty excited at getting it, because it looks like a ton of fun, especially with how getting all the aces and objectives makes it feel less costly then it is.

>A watched pot never boils.

The models were at SDCC. And all signs and rumors from merchants point to a September release. with early access at gencon

Vader does the same thing. They aren't made from blast door material you know.

Retired. Owns his own planet. Will probably show up to Hans funeral with several different species of alien women.

I'm not sure if I'd ever partake in the campaign itself, but holy shit I want those new squads and ESPECIALLY those new objectives. I'm so tired of seeing minefields.

Spacebump

What alien?

>A watched Bantha never poodoos

Best alien

Ain't you one of them Pantoran fellas? What's wrong wit' yer eyes?

Filename

WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOUR FAAAAAACE?

In character dummy.

No one is going to think a Chiss is all that unusual. They're just blue-skinned humanoids. Besides, there's a Chiss bartender on Nar Shadaa too.

It's still unusual to see one. That's why everyone called Baldarek "red eye"

If you have cybernetic eyes, then you'd be fine.

And lose infra-vision? Fuck that.

So I've been running an x-wing list with Soontir Fel with the normal 35 point setup: PTL, title, autothrusters and stealth device along with the inquisitor with PTL, title and autothrusters and Ryad with the tie/x7 title and juke. I've basically been decimating my friends that I play with, and it's getting really irritating. Can you guys help me think of some lists that can stop Soontir from being Soontir? One of my friends is starting to complain about Empire being too OP. They play rebel, and my other friend is scum.

I even bested a 3x Jumpmaster list. I just don't want to be 'that guy' who makes everyone not want to play anymore. Is there any way for rebel to beat a 3 empire ace list? Is there anything special to the 3x jumpmaster that my other friend probably missed out on?

Huh, just read up on Chiss Biology. Doesn't say anything about infravision but apparently, they're generally tall, very fit and have accelerated aging. A ten year old Chiss is equivalent to a 20 year old human.

How old is your character?

Chiss get infra-vision in the FFG RPGs

mid twenties

They live to be about as old as humans, too

Eh, 80 seems to be their 100.

No Palpmobile?

Ryad's a beast. Soontir is Soontir. And the Inquisitor is one of the most unassuming bastard aces for the Imperials. His ability seems "meh", until you realize he is always throwing 3 dice and ignoring range bonuses, autothrusters, and doesn't give a fuck about how close you are (Prockets help when in R1).

So yes there are ways for your buddies to beat your list. Stressbot is a brutal fuck you to Soontir, and is often a favorite on Y-wings Ion Cannons or Twin Laser Turrets. Basically, piling a second stress token on Fel is going to make his next turn suck balls. Beside that, your rebel buddy should look into We Jansen, T-70s in general, Ezra with PtL and Chewie, crackshot A-Wings, Tycho with Autothrusters Rage and PtL, or even a good ol' B-swarm (since TLTs are no longer dominating).

Your scum friend should stop trying to netlist the triple Jumpmasters. It's boring. You 1 forward and roll back until you can get the enemy in R3, focus, and hurr torpedo spam... The "nerf" just nerfed the agromech, not the overcharged R4. But the tradeoff is losing late game power by no longer stacking focus and target locks. Tell him to try a powerhouse Dengar, Mindlink swarm (been doing awesome with Guri, Talonbane, and Manaroo on mindlinks), Dengaroo, railgun Zuckus (6 attack die is fun), etc.

This is a list I've had a good time with that's more tailored for Whisper squads but I've had a good time against imperial aces in general. You need to be comfortable with X-Wings and plan how you're going to start the engagement.

97/100
Wes Janson - VI, R3-A2, Integrated Astromech
Ello Asty - VI, R7-T1, Autothrusters
Biggs Darklighter - R2-D2, Integrated Astromech

Alternatively you can use Poe Dameron in either standard VI or PTL trim which is more effective, I just like using Ello for a change and guaranteeing initiative.

Imperial aces are not that unstoppable - one mistake is brutal and when things go wrong they go -really- wrong, but the same for when things go right. It seems like your friends just aren't used enough to playing them to have developed their play.

Er, meant for

I haven't even been able to test out palp-aces because I don't think they're ready for it. If my imperial aces are giving them trouble adding palp to the mix is going to hurt even more. I've really been loving Inquisitor honestly, he seems to be extremely point efficient.

I've been telling my buddy to run more rebel aces but he still hasn't really given them a chance. I'll give him those tips and see if he'll try that list or something similar against me. He's tried a b-wing swarm but he didn't have much luck. I think the stressbot idea is really what he needs because he complains about PTL and that will counter it well.

I agree with you on how boring the 3x Jumpmaster is; it feels just like stupid cheese. He's been wanting to run scum aces but I haven't been able to help him because I really don't know much about scum. I told him about the mindlink list and zuckuss, I think he'll try that out.

I know Imp-aces aren't unstoppable, but at this point I'm getting tired of winning. Hopefully these tips will net me some better games, because the last few games I've had have been pretty one sided. Thanks for the advice.

Comfortably retired in wealth, running a space casino. Drowning in bitches and Corellian whiskey at any moment

What's the Corellian equivalent to Colt 45?

Blastech 44.

Does malt liquor exist in the future-past?

yes

...

I want to make a "good" list around y-wings
Can it be done

I don't know if 4x TLT s still a thing but it's about as fun as peeling wallpaper. 4x Autoblaster turret on the other hand is fucking amazing.

So latest Marvel Star Wars has a Stormtrooper wield a lightsaber. What's up with that? Also, which rulebooks do I use for black ops Stormtroopers?

?

>What did the Mad Emperor say before he died?
>The same thing you've been saying for hours
>Burn them all

4x TLT Ys is indeed boring as fuck. But in some ways it was necessary, because TLTs eat the fuck out of low agility ships. Namely things like Falcons stacking evade tokens, or Super Dash.

Thankfull as obnoxious as they were, you only see about one or two TLTs in a list these days.

What you want to do is run either 4x autoblaster, especially when Vectored Thrusters comes out. Or run a mix of shit. Like a TLT Y-Wing, a Ion turret Y-Wing with BTL-A title and R3-A2 (a.k.a. "Stressbot"), an autoblaster turret Y-Wing, and a Dorsal Turret Y-Wing with bomb-loadout and your favorite bombs (like conner net).

So they're ACTUAL fucking space drow in the rpgs? That's hilarious.

Any trained person can use a lightsaber. They just can't use one as well as a Jedi.

This is probably total garbage but I'd rock it.

Shit, that blaster turret is supposed to be a Dorsal turret. I shouldn;t do this while drinking.

Did you not read the comics? He nicked it from a Swole Hutt's cache.

Looks good to me. Although the only question I have is why bother to give Horton an R2, if you have nothing that hits him with stress? Toss the EPT-bot (R2-D6) on him and give him Deadeye or VI or something.

For some reason I have it in my head that EPT-bot is PS2 or lower, so that is better.

Soontir's whole thing relies on him making a small move and then repositioning last. Poe or even Wedge with VI wrecks him.

Another option is to try running a different Interceptor. Like say Turr Phenir with VI, Stealth, and Autothrusters. It's not Soontir, but it's a different dynamic. Ryad's too new to really say there's a standard build on her, and I doubt there ever will be. Try giving her x7, PTL and Engine upgrade, hilariously enough. Stick her to 3, 4, and 5 straights, K-Turning when necessary, and use Boost solely to adjust her direction. It is a hilariously fun way to fly her, and surprisingly versatile!

Stressbot is a good counter for Fel, but so is Tactician if used right. Raging Tycho's also good. Rebels have a lot of potentially awesome builds. The B-swarm needs to be a formation flight, to really work. That way they can potentially bury any target in a shitstorm of 3-die attacks (possibly with fire controls). Definitely have him try more rebel ace pilots, though. Especially Wes.

For your Scum buddy, tell him to try this. It may not win, but a VI Xizor with Advanced Sensors and Manaroo tossing him some focus is a goddamned horrifying Starviper to go against. Draw their Fire can be swapped with Intimidation, if he's good at bumping... And it makes the squadron even crazier to go against.

Forgot link. Here:
geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Scum and Villainy&d=v4!s!100:27,-1:16:15:U.43,U.-1;173:30,-1,-1,122,-1,-1:-1:-1:;135:170,-1,145:-1:-1:&sn=Aces Low

>Manaro + VI Xizor
I know this circle of hell. I can still feel the screaming.

Yeah, shit's brutal. I'm used to flying Guri and having to second guess all movements. Sensors on a Starviper are mighty, especially when you're modifying your movements with boost/roll beforehand. Doing so at PS 9 and still getting a focus out of the deal is ridiculous.

That idea has been around for a long, long time.

Are there rules for Yuuzhan Vong?

I need to try mixing it up with different aces, but I have to say Soontir has been my favorite thus far. I haven't really touched the other interceptors except Jax. I'll try out Turr or maybe even Vader, I bet he's easier to take out than Soontir. I have really been loving Ryad; those green K-turns are so fun to play with. I like running her really bare because Defenders are pretty expensive, even with x7.

It was his first time running the B-Wing swarm, so I don't think he really played them as well as he could have. I'll tell him to try it again, but this time with some upgrades instead of a z95. I've sent that list over to my scum buddy, it's something he'll probably try.

I think just for the time being though, I might just tone down my use of certain aces like Soontir.

>calling a SCAR trooper a stormtrooper

huttlet

If Soontir is the Rock, then who's Triple H? Phennir? Han Solo?

In what?

I am looking for some rules on building a lightsaber or something similar. Like crafting rules while adding more energy cells to the hilt, adding new and exciting crystals etc.
Is there anything like that? (Preferably in the d20 department)

In case anyone is feeling up for some /swg/ chat, hopefully allowing anons to find groups and run games here's a discord channel. discord.gg/0tNbYFoSaTVm8PYL

If you don't mind embracing a superior system, FFG's Force and Destiny core book has a reasonable section on lightsaber design that includes variant hilts and crystals etc.

You are basically playing the hard counter to torpedo scouts, so I would refrain from giving your friend too much shit. Sidenote, I have no idea why people can hate a list that embodies and rewards the core concepts of X-Wing: managing range and arc.

Aces without palpatine go down to action denial (except ryad) and focused fire. Roll enough greens without your get out of jail free card and they will crap out on you.

For rebels, you have the stresshog Y giving out that sweet stress. Out-acing with PS10 Poe or PS9 Jake are good options. The VCX with its autoblaster turret can ruin an ace. Wes strips tokens. Regen ships can outlast aces.

For scum, you have the ultimate ace counter in dengaroo. Manaroo feeds dengar focus and blocks while dengar use action independent stuff like lone wolf, Zuckuss, and overclocked to ruin your life. Simply trading out one torpedo scout for the bumpmaster (feedback, anti pursuit, Intel Agent) works wonders. Palob and Mux are godsends. Feedback Zs can mob an ace and kill it without rolling dice. PS10 boba can do work. The YV-666 can bring crazy crew combos like Dengar/Zuckuss/4-LOM or Gunner/Bossk/Zuckuss to punch damage through. N'dru w/ homing missile, glitterstim, chips, and VI deletes soontir in one shot.

And there's always the standard bump to deny actions and prox/conners dropped during activation.

I want to do a Force and Destiny campaign but I had a couple questions.

If the party is all Jedi, will they still have the capability to carry out "missions" that might be more expected of an AoR campaign, such as spy or diplomatic missions? I want to have a variety of mission types (the party being a Republic strike team) but worry Jedi will lack the requisite skills (to not step on AoR classes toes).

How powerful are baseline Jedi in the corebook? I know the book assumes you're playing in the Dark Times and makes PCs master less, training less and saber less at first. But can a party still take on military grade missions? Do I need to bump it to Knight level play? Is it a bad idea to do so for my first F&D game?

I will look into this. Thanks dawg

Why is it so hard to find any decent-sized art from any of FFG's Star Wars games? I'm trying to make some custom extended art pilot cards, and I know there's good assets to use, just not in good quality.

You could camp the artists' DAs.

Did you know that DA can legally use anyone's artwork, name, or content posted on DA for anything they want and not pay you for it?

That's what I did for the Dengar card there, but it's also impossible to find the artist credit for pieces unless you own whatever model it was printed with.

My friend has taken to putting Overload Pulse on ALL his capitals. Combined with Admiral Screed and the Avenger title, it's becoming pretty impossible to survive. I'm still a little unsure as to it's effect:
1. Do you use up a blue critical, or is it a bonus effect?
2. Exhausts the defense tokens? So... their gone until their readied at the end of the turn?
3. Is the effect immediate?

In order of operations, you use your defense tokens first. Then resolve the effects of the critical. So its effect is only felt when the NEXT ship attacks the target and the defender has to decide to discard the token for good or eat the damage.

Good to hear. We were playing it as all defenses immediately exhausted. Made it impossible to reduce the damage from the ship shooting.

Yeah, with the amount of blue die large capital ships like Imp 2 or the Assault MC80 can throw out, it'd be utterly broken if it destroyed all your defenses in one go.
Having two Impies working in cahoots, one with Overload taking the first shot, is just playing the game right.

This is why I ask. It leads to having my ships one shotted thanks to an 8 point upgrade.

Booster Terrik.

Did they really?

Did you miss the whole Clone Wars thing?

This. It's half as good as you think because it has to be done as a combo with another ship to be put to good use. That being said, if you do that and then fire with an imperial that has Avenger, then it's absolutely brutal.

Looking for some ideas for a civil war for the Republic to through in an appropriate era in the past (or far future I suppose). Something that does NOT have its origin in Jedi/sith/force related shenanigans, but could lead to jedi dividing along faction lines

Oh, I should also answer the other rules questions.
1. Any critical effect overrides the default critical effect. You have to pick between doing that or just doing a face up damage.
2. They're flipped to their red side. From there to use them, you'd need to throw them away to use their effect. If they're already red when the effect goes off, nothing happens.

One more thing, crit effects do not stack. Rolling 2 criticals is meaningless, you can only resolve one of them per attack.
