How do you go from this...
How do you go from this
...to this?
Racial caricatures going out of vogue?
My /pol/ sense is tingling
Dunno, but that sigmarite warrior priest looks awesome.
If he didn't have the bare arms he'd be perfect for the D2 Paladin.
What the hell does what is assumedlly a priest of Sigmar have to do with pygmies?
The face is the epitome of derp
I don't get the joke here.
Be glad, it would only trigger you.
I think that figure is really good. Some people don't like it because of how out of place is a nigger in the Empire but if you paint it whaite it is probably the best war priest figure to date.
I'd presume he was from southern Araby. Maybe son of a merchant or an exiled noble or something
Warhammer's/AoS's Arabia has niggers? I thought niggers only lived in Lustria like in OP's pic.
Same here.
Is it because ones a racial caricature of a, presumably, dark skinned pygmy whereas the other is a model that looks badass and is painted dark skinned?
Are we to next post a picture of a fig and a grapefruit and ask how we got from one to the other?
Man, Veeky Forums needs to start crossboarding more. You guys fall for obvious, overused shitposting formats way too easily.
Lustria has pygmies and the bizarrely white Amazons. I'm fairly certain Araby has black people, what with the mention of Ebonian, Athiopos and Zamesi tribes. Hell, most of those guys border the Imperial colony of Sudenberg, so a black priest of Sigmar isn't farfetched at all.
It's racist old GW models to racially inclusive GW (in fantasy HRE).
How do you go from red pill...
...to green pill?
If so how does Dave Chapelle earn money nowadays?
I hate his naked bodybuilder arms.
>It's racist old GW models?
Were the puppets on spitting image also racist?
That word has lost all meaning.
You can't be racist towards white people.
Why are there so goddamn many bait threads these days?
tumblr logic at its finest.
No, because they were caricatures of individual people, rather than entire ethnic minorities.
Maybe they are carricartures of the races on the basis of individuals. A very slippery slopey line to draw.
The Empire is no loger a thing in Age of Sigmar.
He doesn't. He quit because people were taking his comedy as "look at the wacky black man" which was never what it was.
Slippery slope is a fallacy.
Is that what he said?
Well for me his comedy wasn't about that neither, it was a show based on racial stereotype / borderline racist jokes.
You are basing your judgement on arbitrary non qualifyable criterias is what I am saying.
Possible, but I highly doubt Rick Priestley, Bryan Ansell and friends went to Africa, met with the Mbenga and the Bayaka long enough to form caricatures of a wide array of them, and then returned to Nottingham to base a very minor race in their up-and-coming fantasy setting on them, whilst it is far more likely they just shoved in some designs you'd find one of those old Victorian plates used to justify the unpleasantries of the Empire and called it a day.
Generally he was making fun of and pointing how stupid those very same racial stereotype/borderline racist jokes were, and mocking the people who believed in them. He quit when he felt people were just taking them at face value instead of seeing the satire inherent.

That referred to the puppet show, doofus

Nah bruh, his show wasn't near that smart. He sometimes overtones what you described, I give you that, but in general the main bulks of the jokes were just 'us black men like this the white men like this'
Like that mini. Presumeably the human population is more varied in AoS than it was in WH, seeing as the whole of humanity is encompassed in the Order faction rather than just the Germans, French and Russians.
Humanity is basically united under Sigmar or Chaos. Now I kinda want Shaolin Sigmar monks.
I hope we will get there one day too.
>Cathay may have figures now with AoS
I want to believe.
I wanna put some kabutos and katanas on the Sigmarines for some Nippon action.
Never gonna happen. Asians aren't a minority you have to represent.
But weebs love that shit.
That never led to a nippon army before AoS, why should it now
>Racial caricatures going out of vogue?
Pic related is in the same simplified caricature style for a viking. Stop looking for "das rayciss" behind every rock. It's just a way to present simple but easily distinguishable figurines.
WH has always been drifting towards more "serious" looking models from the early "comic" style.
>Sigmurai
That sounds pretty cool actually.
Oh shit, I need to do this now.
How do we go from a succubus to the goddess being redeemed?
How do we go from an elf slave to the ancient thai city of Ankor Wat Do?
riddle me this , green lantern, what has the lantern core ever done for the blue men?
...
>comic sans
>that fucking file name.
Lost my shit.
It's a "simplified caricature style" of giant-lipped, spearchucking, stunted sub-Saharan African analogues with bone piercings in their noses. How you can even compare the cartoonish viking in your image to the depictions linked in the OP is beyond me.
...
Hit the gym, join a religious order, put some clothes on, pull the bone out of your nose, and buy a hammer.
>how can you even compare x with y
>completely misses out on explaining what differentiates x with y on an abstract level
The only difference is that you have a sensibility for one and not the other.
Made me smile.
...
Can you really not tell the difference between "simplification" and "caricature"? Look at the amount of facial detail in your viking picture and compare it to the OP.
Both are cartoonish simplifications. But one just has a generic face, while the other is very clearly the African stereotype.
No, I can't. The line is extremely blurry. The viking guy has typical caucasoid features in his own way, you wouldn't draw an Asian like this even in that style.
