This always struck me as particularly tragic.

They used to, but then they slapped effects onto everything under the sun. Now we have to rely on context clues from illustrations and whatever comes out of Duel Terminal.

Kamigawa in general was a great source of feels, even if the cards were mostly underpowered. Neat, but underpowered.

Well the creator of Phyrexia could "assume the form of a dragon" which imply, if it were created by Bolas, that Nicol Bolas can assume a shape other than a dragon.

Which he can't, since he was one of the five Elder Dragons, not a shapeshifter.

This would be back in oldwalker days. Nicol Bolas could assume any form he fucking wanted to. He could show up as a Volkswagon Beetle and that would be fine.
