>No AoS release in August
What is there, then?

40K crap. They always have to hog the release cycle when we need it more.

>No AoS release in August.

God Bless

>No AoS release in August.

Not even from BL?

>No AoS release in August

>no aos release in august
why not , its more popular then it's ever been

>>no aos release in august
>why not

Because we just got releases.

Really? I haven't been paying much attention, but it feels like months since the last 40k release of any size. When was the last one?

Daily reminder that AoS was completely dead before GHB (aka points book) was announced

Open play fags GET OUT

It's sad how I have been giving zero fucks about 40k lately. The game has become such a bloated imbalanced pile of crap that is in desperate need of a hard reset with the system, and until that happens, I find it really hard to get excited about anything.

What's sad is as I play AoS all I can think of is how 40k can be improved by taking a page or 2 from the AoS method, and it depresses me. I've been in 40k since 4th edition and I can only hope for its future.

Point system will be the doom of AoS

Seriously fuck points and WAAC faggots

Around 7 months. And it was Tau so I don't count it.

>Order still controls the three cities

Raaaaaaaagh!

dude its mean to be fun !!!!!
t: a guy with a summoning army, nagash and archaon

Wrong. It had a slowly growing community. The guys at frontline gaming started getting into it and it grew in popularity in their area, BEFORE the GHB. Anecdotal I know, but I've seen it allover enough to think it a trend.

The GHB definitely boosted its popularity, no denying that. But to say it was completely dead before is pretty narrow thinking.

>mfw gaming group asked me to stop bringing 2 cannons to our games

I was thinking getting into Age of Sigmar. Do you think of teaming up Skaven and Legion of Azgorh is a good idea.

It was winning people over, but points brought back the worst of the WHFB community.
Now already we are once again beset by babies crying over the latest cheese list they saw on the internet.

>half a year since the last big 40k release
>user complains about 40k 'hogging the release cycle'
Hmmmmmmmm

>Actually thinking GW would let the sigmarines lose

In-store voting is just a feel-good placebo. They have everything planned out for MONTHS already. They're not gonna let players get in the way of forging their narrative.

Try harder, I'm sick of victory being handed to me

Are you new to AoSfag delusion?

Heya all. Thinking of starting a new army after ironjaws are done (will post pics when I'm back from holiday) and I've been looking at darling coven + assassins. Should I focus on blackboard or executioners?

From a fluff perspective it makes plenty of sense. Either force could be mercanaries working for the other, or the skaven could be from a clan that got enslaved by the Chaos Dorfs

Actually yes.

What is best god for your Lord of chaos?

That happened long before the GH. Hell you can go back to the beginning of the game for the forced memes about Tzeentch and Skaven combos, right up to just before the release of GH with Nagash and FW whining.

Dont the Sigmarines usually get kinda shafted in the fluff? Like they win but always at a terrible cost or just barely? From the little AoS prose I've read, the Sigmarines tend to die pretty easily, compared to spacemarines in 40k bolterporn

Besides Fantasy has always been a massive Chaos wank. Itd be nice to see GW give someone other than Archie and his gang some love.

I just wish Death would win though

>That happened long before the GH.

No, it happened at the very beginning because butthurt whfbfags were trying to prove that the game was shitty and unbalanced, eventually they fucked off, but they've returned like beaten swine now that some one put points in their trough.

the more I play AoS, the more I find that hero sniping is becoming a real problem, but it seems to affect some armies more than others, usually the ones with hordes/larger units than the ones running heavily elite units.

initially I was content to write it off as bad positioning / intentional weakness / etc, but for some factions its proving to be a real problem.

clanrat-based skaven seem to be affected the most, though its true to a lesser extent for freeguilds, dwarves and others.

it might be nice to see some factions getting the ability to hide heroes in units, but probably not all factions.

inb4 "you just want an OP army", I play phoenix temple, I want my skaven and dwarf bros to feel good about the game again.

The only correct answer is the one that forges the narrative the most.

>Dont the Sigmarines usually get kinda shafted in the fluff?

No.

>Besides Fantasy has always been a massive Chaos wank.

Chaos only ever won anything of note in the End Times.

I won't lie, any sort of Look Out Sir or hero hidey rules and FEC would get a HUGE buff.

Courtiers are just too much of a liability for being the botls that hold the army together.

Is Lord of Undeath the best AoS story so far?
Reading through it I'm having a blast, at least it gives followers of Slaanesh some needed love
>tfw you will never be Neferata's bitch boy

Which was the literal end of the world. Like that's about as successful as possible

Remember when Archaon was getting hyped up in that past campaign, and GW clearly wanted Chaos to win, but Orcs ended up shafting Chaos, so they had to justify Archaon losing to an Orc by saying that Grimgor sucker punched Archaon then ran away?

No, nice historical revisionism though.

Today's WIP :) Spent most of Sunday on it so far lol. I'm slow.

Man, I would so totally do chaos dwarfs if I were to make a chaos force... but forgeworld

Fuck forgeworld.

The sad part is I used to think exactly like this until me and my group actually tried the game out. The idea behind points quickly vanished and we started focus more and more on scenario play and a style of gentlemen's agreement.

The thing is, now that it has a points system, stupid players instantly think its "balanced" and "fair", when its the other way around. GW announced this loud and clear when AoS was released, that they cant write a balanced points system, they don't intend to and they don't care much for it. Thus leaving it all up to the players who, for decades had been bragging about how they could give the game a much better balance if they where only given the chance! It failed miserably, because all the players really did was abuse the rules, and didn't think about balance at all.

We now have the points system as a reference. But its far from written in stone, because we know, just as well as you know, that points counts for shit when you talk about GW and a balanced wargame.

Anyone found any good head swap bits for Sigmarines? I hear they look great with knight helmets and a subdued paintjob.

Well for the most part, the points seem to be pretty reasonable, barring a few weird cases of over/undercosted units. This is not accounting for synergy though, where some army synergies are better than others.

But a really great example of this game having a decent balance is points for the formations, something 40k desperately needs.

Swenson famously did Irondrake heads, which look pretty damn cool. He was doing that since the beginning. I heard he was taking his army to the las vegas open so he will get his army painted up for that

Thinking about adding to the Start Collecting Skelton Horde by getting a bunch more skellies, a necromancer, and some morghast harbingers. Good idea?

Great idea, make Arkhan with the mortarch and enjoy Mr. Bones' wild ride.

It's a great way of expanding on it, yes. You can also add a Start Collecting: Malignants, for more Black Knights, another big-ass centerpiece, awesome Spirit Hosts and if you built the Coven Throne, 3 Banshees and a Necromancer.

Imo the historical helmets do not work because then they look even more bland. If you swap them, go for helmets with more details. The only interesting thing about the sigamarine models are sadly their masks...
Or put helmets on them and paint them very colorful, each with his own heraldry. Like you would do with bretons.

What are they like? I haven't heard much about them.

Theyre pretty good and do great models with good rules

Why do i say fuck them?

Think of GW jewery with prices, then double that. Im not fucking joking.

On top of that they have no US distributors so you NEED to buy from them overseas and pay exorbitant shipping prices. Also their stuff is known to really fuck with the meta of whatever game they make models for, and not in a good way.

Evidently though they are getting high praises for their balance and handling 30k, so at least there's that.

>Order overseas
>They charge you for the VAT tax

So I can't read the book right now, but Ghouls got a big retcon with the FEC right? They are now just people with crazy vampire rabies right?
Do the old school ghouls still exist, or is there some other justification for ghouls serving in a non Ghoul King army?

What was their old fluff? They ate flesh and became insane?

Anyone had a go with bonesplittaz yet?
If so what do they play like?

That plus generation upon generation of inbreeding

Matched play rules I am fine with because they give a universal constant for official events like season of war

Put the mini down on a table, put a white backdrop behind it with printer paper or a box, and put some stronger light on it from above.

Otherwise, it looks great from what I can see.

Lord of Plagues complete.

Ghouls are pretty much the same as they were before. They are degenerate cannibals that got warped by dark magic.

Their vampiric masters are what changed. Though, only for a bit. Ushoran was captured and tortured by Nagash in the Shrouded Cage. When Sigmar was chasing after Nagasah after the betrayal at the Allpoints, Sigmar released Ushoran by mistake. Ushoran whose mind was twisted to the extreme by Nagash's tortures went into such depths of insanity that it became magical. Now him and everyone he sired are utterly. Worse their madness is infectious. It infects their victims and followers with delusion in which they regal and noble knights and kings instead of the wretches monsters that they truly are.

actually with a very few notable exceptions most of the rules written for models they've designed for 40k and WHFB/AoS lean toward the underpowered side

as for complaints about VAT, that's something you should blame the UK government for, and its difference with the US on how it taxes online orders, that's the reason you get double taxed, nothing FW can do about it.

Friggin sweet
Only small thing to say more get be to add a little more of a shade to the silver bits, but otherwise looks lovely

It was just a quick snap while I was working on it, I'll take a nice pic when it's finally finished! :)

>So I can't read the book right now, but Ghouls got a big retcon with the FEC right? They are now just people with crazy vampire rabies right?
Yeah, kinda. The Ghoul Kings are insane, but their insanity can spread. As soon as he leaves the normal Ghouls, they start going "normal" again, for inhuman cannibal monster values of normal. If they drink his blood, they will always be as delusional as he is, but at the cost of transforming into a Crypt Horror.

>Do the old school ghouls still exist, or
Well, kinda. The Strigoi Ghoul Kings were retconned into the Ghoul Kings we have now.
>is there some other justification for ghouls serving in a non Ghoul King army?
Sure, same as Deathrattle: A Vampire or Mortarch bend them to his will. They'd basically be mindwashed slaves. Unless a Ghoul King leads them, in which case said Ghoul King would have been bribed by someone.

What army should I play until Tzaangors and co come out as a proper force? I have a thundertusk, a magnetized mortach, quite fancy some sylv...

Keep it up! Everyone paint your models!

Change the resolution next time.
But overall a great job, like added details of slime on the base, but it could have done without that vegetation, as now it looks like those green plants are full of life and just love the toxic waste.Get some swamp tufts or similar next time, something that really doesn't look so alive and well.

>Painted my Revenants and Kurnoth Hunters the same colours withour realising it
I guess the Followers of Kurnoth can summon their weapons like Quincy now

Not really. They are still Strigoi. Anyone of Ushoran's bloodline is.

>High above, the Strigoi Ghoul King Marrowthirst circled upon his Terrorgheist, a foul hunger for blood filling his belly. With a guttural command, Marrowthirst ordered his minions to lock the mighty bone-bound gates leading to the vault, cutting off the Stormcasts’ retreat.

-DoC

Thanks guys! I have an undead army I'm looking expand, I'm thinking of getting the FEC start collectibg box, but building the big kit as a Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon, and wanted to make sure it'd still be fluffy for him to have ghouls without being a strigoyim.

Light is really strong on them. The shade is there.

has the new scenery battletome been shared yet?

not yet, but from the website description it seems pretty bare. I'd like to see them put out more scenery varaiety, something like the old dreadstone blight or other good LoS blockers with a different feel.

I'd add more to the axe, some rust or some shit

I'm working on converting the Boneplitterz epub to pdf, what's the base font size for the battletomes?

Decent models, horrible rules and horrible pricing. A lot of people consider them pay to win.

Guys, im going up against a Seraphon player, and im using undead. Were gonna try 50 wounds, and if that doesnt work, were gonna use points. As a mainly Deathrattle player, what do I do?

>Point system will be the doom of AoS

Except it saved the game and no one would give two shits otherwise. These threads would be DEAD

AoS without at least a vague semblance of structure is garbage and you know it.

Where my Skaven bros at?

Anybody else running the Verminus Clawpack? I'm having solid success with it, and think it really has potential to be an amazing list.

Also after extensive testing I've concluded that WLCs are a noob trap and PCCs are far better.

I haven't read it, but the Pestillence book, Warbeast, and a couple of the Advent calendar stories are my top picks. Although I am excited that Nagash is back to being a sinister badass, instead of a bumbling Skeletor.

Friendly reminder to all those ex chaos monster players that through is still alive and still has a big monster armies. He might get the same treatment as nagash and Co in the future... Might

I'm looking to read about Age of Sigmar.

I've finished up reading the end times novels and want to know where to start learning about AoS.

Just prefer to read a lot before I start on a faction. Gets me a bit more invested in the one I pick if I like the story and characters. Currently leaning towards Nagash and the skellingtons but am sad to see the lack of new models... and the immense difficulty of painting cool characters like Arkhan. That looks a nightmare for a shit painter like me.

Outdated but a good start.

There is also this.

blacklibrary.com/aos-reading-order.html

I just wish they still sold stand alone Cold ones for the monster armies

Just received my Storm of Sigmar and holy shit.
Sure these guys are "easy to build" but they most definitely are not "easy to clip from the sprue"
Why the fuck did GW not just do the snap-fit shit. I'd rather have that then figures with broken pieces from just clipping them out of the sprue.

But they're all out and I just have to clean them up next. Damn was it hard, though. Couple close calls.

Being ham-fingered must be tough.

I havent painted Arkhn myself, but he doesnt look that hard. Just the staff effect and glowing skulls look hard. Luckily he is mostly clothe and bones, cloth and bone are probablyvthe easiest thing to paint other than drybrushed metal

You can fluff yours as the madness making them believe they're from Mourkain and trying to recreate it if you want to keep the old theme, or just a Realm/Empire that was destroyed in the Age of Chaos.
Some of them worship Nagash as the God of Death, others despise him for what he did to Ushoran, and some even don't care.
Their fluff is flex enough for you to fit your fancy,if you like crazy vampire cannibals. Ushoran a best, btw.

Its more the horse than Arkhan himself I think. That looks horrific. But that might just be me, despite me shitty painting skills I still try to make things look awesome. They just never do and it makes me upset so I try to stick to easier stuff.

Wow didn't realize there was so much already. Would you recommend starting on battletomes or jumping into gates of azyr?

Did you take this pic by using a brick?

Read the battletomes, user. They will help you to understand who is who in the stories. I mean not heroes and such, but unitwise.

I'm sorry, I didn't think my fingers were considered ham-fingers.

That was just a pic I found on google. If you noticed, I actually bought SoS and I would have a different book.

Khorne sucks

Will do, are they in the resources file in the OP or am I gonna have to shell out hundreds of pounds for these things?

Did you accidentally glue carpet onto yourself?

Honestly I think Stormcast paladin heads looks great on liberator bodies. Retributor heads are fantastic

Yes, they are all in OP archives.

Even if they never outright state it, he's dead.

When they start making new models for him again than you can argue otherwise.

Dang, I thought no one would notice.
I've been thinking about tearing it out and replacing it with tile, but I'm debating between dishing out cash for someone to do it or if I should just do it myself. Might save money that way, in the long run.

Sup thread, I'm trying to come up with some background for my Stormcast chamber, and I need some information.

I want to base most of the factions I collect in the realm of Ghur (I like the behemoths and giant creatures in AoS, so the Realm of Beasts seems a natural fit for me), and I was wondering if there was any background on places in Ghur in any of the books released so far? I know that there's that one ash forest in Ghyran that brushes up against Aqshy, and I was hoping to make my Stormcasts come from a group of nomadic tribes that reside in an area like that, but where Ghur and Chamon rub together, creating iron-dense hills and creatures with hides that are crusted with metals.

To that end, I was curious if anyone has worked with both the Dark Elves and the Stomcasts could see if the Dark Elf Corsair Lizard-capes work with the Stormcasts? I'm hoping to give them those capes and somehow make them look metallic without losing the skin of a beast look.

this shit again? all this has done is lead in the aelves plotline which will obviously have Slannesh in the starring role.
