MTG Combo thread.

Haven't been keeping up with standard, are there any interesting combo pieces? Really awesome synergy?

I can see how this combo is supposed to work, but isn't it broken because the bears come into play as 2/2, but only become 4/4 from Murganda after they're already in play, thus not triggering Kavu?

If it does work, I assume the combo is fairly simple.

>words, draw a card
>bear comes into play, triggers kavu
>sacrifice bear in response, use one mana for words
>20 times
>hurricane for 20

Murganda's ability is static so bears enter as 4/4.

Thats pretty much how the cards work. Infinite bears/life/damage.

I think this is the only Standard Infinite Combo.
There is some great Synergy Cards like Lambholt Pacifist + Dromoka's Command.

I don't get it.

I have used this combo to kill the table, it is magnificent.

You make a huge amount of colorless mana and stack your deck exactly how you want it.

I don't think it works like that.
Because you need to resolve the Sensei before looking at more 3 cards.
So you only get to rearrange the top, really.

Umm, you do realize that the top can only affect the top 3 cards right?

You get to look at the top 3 cards of your library an infinite number of times, yet not any more than the top 3.

That's probably why he said it can only do exactly that.

But why?

The combo is that you can generate infinite mana with Basalt Monolith and Rings.

>tap Basalt Monolith
>pay 3 mana to untap it, Rings triggers, pay 2 to get an extra untap
>untap Basalt Monolith, then tap in response to the other untap trigger, then untap
>this nets 1 colorless mana every time this process is done
>you have infinite colorless mana
>tap Top, Rings triggers
>pay 2 to get a copy of Top's ability
>draw a card and put Top on top of the library
>draw Top, recast it

This way, you can draw every card in your deck.

You can also copy the tops "draw card" ability which allows you to draw a new card and the top. Recast the top with you infinite mana and do it all over again until you run out of cards to draw.

-At beginning of end step Final Fortune trigger hits the stack
-Activate sundial in response to FF trigger
-FF trigger is exiled as the turn ends
-FF does not trigger again.

No it works. It helps a lot. Lets me keep my huge fatties with Zirilan and Sedris and lets me get around the Phage trigger. It's a cool card.

I think Kavu Liar doesn't trigger because the Bear tokens are 2/2 (in the stack) and they become 4/4 in the battlefield.

Creatures enter the battlefield with static effects applying to them. The bears enter the battlefield as 4/4.

Red Donate + Demonic Pact.

Not infinite, but it still wins the game just as surely.

What is that supposed to do? Maze only works on attacking creatures.

If you give the Argothian Elder vigilance then swing with him, I guess?

You attack with your own Elder. You then untap it, tap the Elder to untap Maze and Megaliths, and end up with infinite red and the ability to infinitely untap lands (such as Megaliths, which will kill your opponent).

Oh yeah, I'm stupid. Doesn't need vigilance since the first thing tapping is Maze of Ith to untap it.

Swing with Elder (no vigilance required).
Before declare blockers step:
Activate Maze of Ith, targeting Elder
Tap other land for red mana
Elder untaps
Activate Elder, targeting Ith and the other land
Repeat 1 million times, generating 1 red mana each time.
Now repeat 1 more million times, except you just activate the land to damage instead of using its mana ability.

Yes. You attack with the elf to get the whole thing going. Need some way of discarding your hand to get Megaliths to deal damage (maybe Junk Golem or something).

I don't quite understand what Gut Shot brings to this combo..?

My meta has a lot of black and green and it lets my unload my hot sticky combat phases all over everyone's faces

>sac Wall, dome someone for 19 damage and gain all your life back
>free drop Gut Shot for the kill

Yawgmoth's will is banned in legacy, (un)fortunately.

You can only pay up to 19 health (if you haven't gained or lost life) and gut shot gets you that last 20th.
Could pull it off on turn two with a turn one Dark Ritual (DR does everything).

A creature equipped with Basilisk Collar and targeted by Chandra's Ignition is a pretty spicy jank boardwipe

You could also do this with grimgrin but its not endless. I think its still pretty good in my zombie deck though.

Put Paradise Mantle on Grimgrin and it would be infinite.

what does that combo do?

It allows Kraj to use one of Nicol Bolas' abilities every turn. It used to be an infinite combo, but they changed it from "Planeswalkers can use one ability per turn" to "A permanent can only activate one Loyalty ability each turn".

it allows experiment Kraj to use planeswalker abilities, it can only do + or 0 abilities until you have enough counters to remove to activate the - abilities.

also works with other bouncelands that have blue in it, with deceiver exarch / bounding krasis, and purphoros. The only piece necessary is deadeye.
Could be a cute little edh deck.
