CSM warband creation

Let's make the galaxy a bit crazier,
i hope for a band of bat-shit lunatics

Legion Warband or Renegade Chapter? (d10)

Rolled 8 (1d10)

Sounds fun

Legion Warband (a warband of one of the nine original Chaos Space Marine Legions)

Allready born with a reputation, i wonder whom whom

Original Traitor Legion (Legion Warbands and Descendents only) (d100)

Rolled 17 (1d100)

IV

World Eaters

So far so good with the lunatic band, sons of the best butchers in the galaxy

Devotion to the Ruinous Powers (d10)

Rolled 10 (1d10)

Most devout

Rolled 9 (1d10)

Uncaring.

Fanatic. The marines of the warband are highly devoted to their God(s), willingly submitting themselves to the Ruinous Powers and viewing possession as favourable.

Most devout get, they are as chaos as it gets

Chaos Worship (d12) (Ignore if your warband's devotion is "loathed")

Rolled 7 (1d12)

Rolled 11 (1d12)

Changer of ways plz

Tzeentch

Changer get, secret plots and mutations engage

What form do the Chapters' beliefs take? (d100)

Rolled 13 (1d100)

What about the other guy and his 7?

Rolled 25 (1d100)

>tfw Tzeenchian WE
Wat.

Sorry, its nurgle, i replied too fast

What form do the Chapters' beliefs take? (d100)

The Gods Above All - The warband reveres their God(s) above all else. Re-roll if your Warband's devotion to chaos is "Loathed".

Warband Demeanor (d10)

Rolled 9 (1d10)

Honour Amongst Thieves. Despite being evil and cruel individuals, these Marines have a strong sense of brotherhood. Many would never even consider betraying their fellow warriors an option, and would even sacrifice themselves to save a friend's life.

Nurgle slaughter bros for life

common Mutations/Deficiencies (if Neutral or Fanatic devotion) (d10)

Rolled 3 (1d10)

No Rest for the Wicked

Minutes, hours, days, weeks, it does not matter, the battle is over when the last enemy joins nurgle's embrace

Common Mental Flaws (if Fanatic devotion) (d10)

Rolled 9 (1d10)

Sanity is for the Weak - Marines disregard pitiful things such as "logic" and "common sense"

Fight sanity with insanity

Figure of Legend (d100)

Rolled 76 (1d100)

Chosen or Terminator

I vote for Nurglite terminator

Deeds of Legend (d100)

Rolled 96 (1d100)

The figure of legend led many wars and slaughtered countless foes. However, he was eventually slain by a rival Chaos champion. The Warband holds great hatred for the champion and his Marines to this day.

He was the chosen one, they will pay with their deaths

Warband Homeworld (d100)

Rolled 43 (1d100)

Warp-twisted, roll again for the base terrain, automatic for Daemon Worlds

Now that's proper chaos

re-roll

Rolled 50 (1d100)

Ice

A warp-twisted ice world, black ice monolyths anyone?

Combat doctrine (d10)

Rolled 6 (1d10)

Drown them with Bodies - Warband makes heavy use of mortal servants as cannon fodder, sending them in waves towards the enemy.

Special Equipment (d100)

Rolled 86 (1d100)

Special Armour.

Nurge worshippers, human meatshields, special armor, terminator champion?
These guys need "immortal" or "undiying" in their name

Warband Status (d10)

Rolled 10 (1d10)

Massive

They dont want to die, they just multiply, they are a sea of filth and chaos, they are unending
and they come for you

Cause of increased strength (If Slighly Overstrength or Massive) (d10)

Rolled 2 (1d10)

Rolled 1 (1d10)

I wonder if the meat shields are inductees, with the survivors becoming CSMs

The Warband merged with a smaller Warband or picked up the remains of a defeated one.

Yes, lesser children, come embrace nurgle's glory

Warband allies. Who has our back? (d100)

Well, they gotta pick out the most resilient ones to join their ranks somehow

Rolled 93 (1d100)

Rolled 67 (1d100)

Tzeetch

A loyalist Astartes chapter who's heretical/radical ideals led them to do back-room deals with your warband.

Like pigs to the slaughter, soon their most resilient will streingthen our ranks
and the rest will rot for nurgle

Who are the Warband's enemies?(d100)

Rolled 21 (1d100)

Rolled 90 (1d100)

Specific Ork Waaagh!/Warboss

Maybe it was an ork who slew our champion terminator?

end of roling, now its time for lore and polish

call me at 1-800-ROCK if you want chapter generated chaos muhreens.

What would their lord look like? Terminator armor guarateed

Que?

The Immortal Brethren?
The Undying Host?
The Corpse Hounds?

Brotherhood of the Undying

I like the immortal part, but for a massive warband with huge ammounts of slaves and servants something more doom-y would fit

Corpse hounds would be an awesome name for a endangered nurgle close combat warband, but this one is hjoog

what about "Nurgle's Immortals"?

The Immortal Host?

Can do a Persian theme with the whole a new one steps forward each time one of the marines dies.

The Corpse Legion? The Legion of the Unliving?

The Immortal Sons?

The Sons of Pestilence?

That sounds cool, and fits with their "no rest for the wicked" mutation it could work

Vote for The Immortal Host?

Sounds appropriate.

And we got their chosen enemy, the Flawless Host warband

Fighting over their names

...

oh, sweet, can you try a quickie with greyish-green and bleached red?

Bleached as in faded or bleached as in drowned in red dye?

Faded, since they are ex-eaters

Just as planned.

Something like this then?

Yes, that looks nice

Bro we've definitely got different definitions of what looks 'nice' then. That marine looks similar to what comes out of my stomach when I vomit.

IMO this is better for Tzeentch World Eaters. Maybe a little more subtle.

So something like this, where it's just the blue that's a random shade.

We're Nurgle though. Sad as it is.

OP fucked up.

Also for a backstory, it could be all the World Eater Librarians/World Eaters with Pysker abilities who escaped the purges and fled for Tzeentch to save their sorry asses.

True, i wasnt focused on that roll, i apologise

But the warband is 100% Nurgle and Fanatic about it

I got some name suggestions for the legendary terminator:
>Andreas Mux
>Federan Rutibus
>Mordecai Bratax
>Cyrek Zena

I like Mux, something like "Mux the Destroyer"

"Mux the Mutilator"

Mux the Mutilator, Nurgle's chosen terminator champion, sounds badass

So we are going with Mux?

Yep, my vote for wargear would be nurgle-blessed lightning claws that kinda look like ork klaws

How would their "special armor" look?

Bloated, maggot filled, rusty, etc

And their banner?

Heavy on spiked-bone protrusions? The better your armor, the more you develop.

How about a triangle with 3 skulls with maggots in their eyes, it is in the shape of Nurgle's mark

The longer you stay alive that is, but it would be slow as fuck as they are immortals in essence

Mux the Mutilator must have had several spines growing out of his back before he was slain

I like the idea, just the maggots would be a bit hard to paint as an insignia,
how about a triangle with symbolic skulls on fire in each corner?

the fire comes from their history as world eaters, but overall its nurgle's symbol

Or maybe of a skull with like an axe or a blade embedded in it?
Which begs the question, who's leading the warband in his place? Who has taken up the mantle of the Mutilator?

Like a gangrenous wound! I love it

Probably the second-oldest survivor

Mux the Mutilator would be wearing a helmet mask like this

I see him (or rather maybe his successor) wielding a fuck-huge executioner's axe with a helm like that. It's not so much as a blade as it is a hunk of rusted iron, with serrated teeth covered in dried blood and viscera.

I'd say his sucessor got the helmet and executioner axe

Mux was so old that his face/head blended with the terminator armor frame, making his face
two small eyes and a bouqet of tubes and rusty metal

I also imagine Mux having a cough similar to that of General Grevious

imagine fighting him and in the middle of the duel he just coughs in your visor, it starts melting and shit, and when youre distracted he just thrusts his claws into the belly and earns the second part of his name

Don't think we've gone over how it was these World Eaters broke off from the rest of their legion to form their own warband, have we?

Yeah, could be that after the siege of S-something, where kharn singlehandedly broke the legion apart, some of the survivors got the hell away and thinking that khorne abandoned them, changed colors to serve Nurgle instead

But who is their nemesis?

Well we know it was another warband that slayed the Mutilator, and we've also enemies in some ork waaagh. Maybe it was the massive greenskin horde that decimated us when we were still World Eaters, and in the agonizing days following our defeat, those of us that were left managed to survive by embracing death and Papa Nurgle heeded our call?

It's not Tzeentch you faggot.

I think Mux died after the Nurgle worship was established, and since he was an "immortal" he would have to be very very old

how old do we make him? Bjorn (the oldest in cannon) was alive at the end of the great crusade,
do we bend the rules a bit and make Mux even older?

Right, I didn't mean to imply it happened AFTER the warband was made, just establishing what we already know. Sorry.

No, that's Mary Sue Territory.

I'm really liking these ideas guys.

True,
i suggest to make his origin time after the great crusade and before Angron's ascendance, so that he has experienced war from the perspective of a Loyal marine, a Khorne Berzerker and finally a Nurgle terminator lord

I like the idea giving him lightning claws as his main implement, but maybe to highlight his status one of his arms was utterly ruined in battle and in place of one claw his bony protrusions formed a thick, spiked carapace over it?

Club hand, hum, that gives me an idea,
what if one of his arms is a metal pole from the elbow down and on the end of that pole is a bony mace head with spikes and blades sticking out of it

I love it! Give me 10!
