Aztechnology Edition. Let's talk about the corp we all know and love. They feed the world! They reduce pollution! They give cheap cyberware! What is there to hate?

>What is there to hate?

The blood magic. Mostly the blood magic.

Also the way that they don't respect shadow etiquette and take business personally.

So planning a fun build that may one day see a table.

The idea is gofast with grappling abilities, to swing around a-la Spiderman and get in close. I'm wondering if I should go with a grapple hand or grapple gun- the former is always on me, but the latter lets me use multiple lines without retracting (and saves essence). It's Exotic Ranged Weapon (Grapple) either way, so I could do both, but I don't know if investing in the hand is worth it.

Recommendations?

Also, are there any decent Clubs? I'm a bit tired of slice-and-dice, but last I looked the clubs are all pretty bad.

Are you going for bionic conmando or batman?

I wanted to get into shadowrun but every group on roll20 is looking for a GM

what kind of people play this game that would chase all the GM's away literally have never seen this shit on roll20 before

More straightforward than Batman, so Bionic Commando I guess (never played the game). It's basically just a standard melee sam, but coming at the combat from unconventional angles.

It's a tricky game to run (both rules-wise and getting the flavour right), and there's a bunch of players unwilling to step up and leave their snowflakes behind.

I don't know this guy sounds like a read special snowflake to me...

Aww.

I run the game usually because forever GM, I just like building characters

>Recommendations?
Go for the gun.

>Also, are there any decent Clubs?
No.

That's a shame. Thanks.

Grapple arm, I says. Bionic commando that shit.

Reminder to support your local aztechnology subsidiary.

Probsbly the Blood Magic and the connection to horrors.

Also that Will of Big D actually suggests that at least some chunk of Aztech might be infiltrated by fovae (read: Bug Spirits)

Your GM has you going to a soykaf shop for some information, and you decide to get something as a cover. How do you take your 'kaf?

Shittiest possible.

Soy burger costs one nuyen.

How does it make you feel?

90 % Sugar/Sweetener
9 % Soymilk
0.9 % Soykaf

How shitty/classy a neighborhood are we speaking about?

indifferent because i'm allergic to soy irl and i can get an actual hamburger for 4 nuyen more.
i wanna know how a pair of underwear runs the same as a good steak or videogame though.

>50 Nuyen for fucking pizza

Shadowrun is a grimdark world.

You can always buy good and natural totally-not-soy pizza for only 25 nuyen in the Trusty Trog's Shack, good customer! Do not bring weapons.

What's stopping me from opening a pizzeria and become rich?

corporation-mandated price matching on all pizzas in the sixth world means that any local mom and pop pizzeria trying to undercut on prices is assaulted by black ops renraku red samurai under the guise of catering for a company pizza party

Shredder, probably

And that's why first I set up my shadowrunning party, and then use it as protection detail for the pizzeria.

>the red samurai are run by shredder

The difficulty of getting the genuine ingredients, I'd say. Although pizzeria offering the genuine thing will still exist in classier parts of a city.

So, yeah, that newbie again, trying to make his Minotaur. I think I've got it down to just needing to buy gear (I've got 10k Nuyen, counting 2 karma I have left). Making sure I haven't built anything retarded.

what. Don't you mean 'Interest Knowledge - Alcohol (Whiskey)'? Cause Knowledge(Whiskey) is kinda narrow

Omae, you have no idea. Every culture in the world makes a few dozen kinds of whiskey. Knowing good whiskey is like knowing fine wine.

But for reals, I could easily just make that "Liqour." I don't want to spend the point to specialize, unless I can do it for one of my leftover karma.

>25
>when I can go down the street and get a shitty pizza for $5 right now

Disgusting.

5 Nuyen for pizza, alright.

Bigger question. How much for instant noodles? Or do college students not eat that stuff anymore?

refer to

I often do, noble user.

I still kind of question why you have so many ranks in unarmed, as it looks like you're going to focus on using the horns as your primary weapon. I can't help but think they'd be better sank into improving stealth or a ranged skill of some kind, in case you face someone out of headbutting range.

""""""""real""""""""" beef

I suppose I could drop it down to 3, and put two into a pistol - I just like the idea of being "good with my hands."

I guess the biggest problem is I don't want to just get rid of unarmed, but any secondary attack I'd have I'd want to put a bunch of ranks into. The goring horns are my primary lethal attack, the unarmed - with Knucks and Shock Gloves - are my primary non-lethal.

4 bags per 1 nuyen. Literally in the rightmost column.

Is there a book anywhere that goes into detail on the agricultural and food-based logistics of the Shadowrun world?

I've been thinking about doing a series of runs based around stealing and reselling "Real Food" but I don't want to just shoot into the dark.

My biggest question is how the "Team Lifestyle" +10% per resident, and the Troll's increased lifestyle costs interact. Our rigger is going to have a garage, which is going to be my day job - do I just pay in my 1000¥ for the housing, and not worry about what my lifestyle cost should be?

Maybe I'm just missing this in the rules but what keeps a hacker from just editing or spoofing a cred stick's value to create fake Nuyen? Sure, it's not on the grid but surely you can plug it I to something that is.

Pretty sure all credsticks have really high protection values. I can be wrong though.

one-use gloves are 2 nuyen, disposable gloves are 1 nuyen.

What does it mean?

After reading this I can't shake the image of a runner in overalls with a ski mask and disposable gloves without underwear.

Well, I always imagined that for street level runners stealing office equipment from the runs can be the primary way of making money.

That, and, if my choice of powers makes any sense. I'm not sure if it's better to split Attribute Boost, or allocate it to Strength - what I want to do is advance as quickly as possible and take down anyone I can see.

>stealing from the corp if it isnt for a run

If that's all that protects them couldn't Techno's use the Editor complex form and bypass that entirely?

>vydia (new) 50 nuyen
Looks like /matrix v/ would be fine

>/matrix v/
Gods almighty.

How would /matrix pol/ look?

More than one rank in Attribute Boost isn't a good investment. Ger rank 1 in AGI and STR, it will be enough to statistically get +2 to both on demand for 4 combat turns.

Drop Mystical Armor entirely it's grossly overcosted for what it does.

One rank of Combat Sense and is enough.

As you stand now, you'll just get riddled with bullets before even getting a chance to act. Unless you plan to take drugs to improve your initiative, take Improved Reflexes. level 1 as a bare minimum, and I'd shuffle things around to get lvl 2.

>/matrix pol/
/humanis/
because only white male humans count and all others are subhuman degenerates

I'm sure they would accept aryan elves

I'm sure they secretly jerk off to elf-orc porn.

So we're looking at

>Light Body 5
>Danger Sense 2
>Improved Reflexes 1
>Combat Sense 1
>Attribute Boost (Agi) 1 (Str) 1
>Traceless Walk
>Wall Running
>Critical Strike (Horns)

And, if I can take some from other places - light body -3, danger sense -1 - I'd be able to go to Improved Reflexes 2, but is that a worthwhile trade?

And I'm definitely investing in this as my primary piece of gear.

Speaking of. I've thought about adding a small group or policlub who are dedicated to hating blacks and they think Humanis people are misguided. Just for fun.

As in, they fine with you even if you are a feathered serpent. What matters is that you're not a nigga.

Doesn't really fit with the location of my current campaign.

I'd say so. Initiative is your friend. Especially when your plan is to go mano a mano. Before you can hit someone you need to get to him. Hard to say if your wide jumps alone cut it.

Also if shit really hits the fan you can pop some jazz to get pretty much up to the initiative cap with reflexes rank 2.

You could probably do triple frogleaps across footballfields, to gore people with flying horndives.

Adding a group of unambiguously good guys doesn't fit shadowrun.

It entirely depends on how you want to play your Minotaur. If you go for Improved Reflexes, go for rank 2. It would net you (3d6+9) initiative, which is not exceptional but pretty decent. You could also forego Improved Reflexes entirely and take a shot of Kamikaze when SHTF.

Kamikaze gets you +1 Body, +1 Agility, +2 Strength, +1 Willpower, +2 Physical limit, +2d6 Initiative Dice and High Pain Tolerance 3 for (1d6*10) minutes; and you can combine it with Attribute Boosts to get +3 AGI and +4 STR total on average when it counts. And with a BOD of 9 and WIL of 3, you shouldn't have too much problems getting the 3 necessary hits to resist addiction in the worst case.

Compared to 'merely' +2 Reaction and +2d6 Initiative Dice from Improved Reflexes 2; Kamikaze boosts you more while remaining relatively safe. The downside is that Kamikaze, while potent, will leave you to waste your first combat turn two times out of three to activate it; where Improved reflexes is "on" at all times. And, woe to you if the run is not over when the Kamikaze wars off, because you'll crash for the same amount of time that the shot lzsted. And taking a second shot while crashing from the first is... really not smart.

>You could probably do triple frogleaps across footballfields, to gore people with flying horndives.

Omae please. I can only get so erect.

And the bonuses to Rea take me beyond my limit, right? I can have 7 Rea for these purposes?

Yes. The Bonus from Improved Reflexes is considered an augmentation and allow you to get past the metatype natural limit.

wait
different person here
drugs are cumulative with augmentation initiative bonuses?

fuck I've been doing this all wrong

Per RAW, Synaptic Boosters cannot stack with Drugs, because of how they are worded. IIRC, everything else stacks with drugs. RAI says that drugs stack with everything.

Not always. It is (normally) specified when cyberware/bioware/powers/Magic/drugs are cumulative.

Remember that there is a hard limit of +4 in any Attribute, and 5d6 of init.

At least the descriptions of the adept power says "and the increase cannot be
combined with other technological or magical increases to Initiative."

Which I understand as cyber/bioware implants.

Your GM could hardline you and say that drugs are technological, but I think that is a stretch. And I have yet to meet someone who sees it that way.

yeah, the drugs would fit the hedonist vibe he mentioned earlier, plus an auto-injector is available as an armour upgrade, stick it on a ballistic mask(since a helmet would get in the way of horns) and stick an ampule of kamikaze in it, and it's a free action to dose yourself (with wireless).

Okay, so the last big question relates to how Troll lifestyles tie in with group lifestyles. If our Rigger owns and operates a Garage, and I live with her (in a low lifestyle cupboard apartment), is it still just the 10% upgrade to her lifestyle, or do I double the portion I would pay to her for the troll tax?

I'm probably going to shell out for that, both for Kamikaze and Jazz, for when shit really hits the fan.

You double the 10%. You just eat that much more, mah trogga!

So I would be adding 20%, and the dwarf sammy would be adding 12%?

Kep in mind you'll suffer OD damage if you take both at once.

fuck yeah
time to overdose on kamikazi and then fight 50 lone star officers and win

Got it.

Does anyone have an answer to this -

Essentially, if it's worth dropping down unarmed to add in some ranks in a pistol, when I'm hoping to have Knucks and Shock Gloves as my primary non-lethal attack.

Yup. Still cheaper than each getting their own place by far... But you're all in the same place if someone goes after you at a point.

Pick one or the other, I'd say as mixing two drugs with similar effects is a trip to OD town. You should probably get what I suggested okayed by your GM as Kamikaze is strictly speaking not an inject-able, but I figure you could have an auto-inhaler and by RAW it doesn't say you can only use injected vector drugs in an auto-injector.

Jazz for when shit hits the fan.
Kamikaze for when the waste disposal pipeline of a sprawl's water purification plant hits the air circulation matrix of an arcology.

Gonna invest in it being in an obscure neighborhood and having a panic room, and I've got the Home Ground where NPCs are friendly to me - and it's not the whole group, just the three of us who trust each other and have some backstory.

You have a STR of 9. Invest those ranks in Throwing, and carry a couple of tennis balls in your pocket. (Or grenades.)

> But you're all in the same place if someone goes after you at a point.
that seems like a plus to me
I mean, if you're all separated that means it's easier to fuck you over one by one

you can always grab some stick and shock or gel rounds to have a non-lethal options with a pistol

and I'd say having at least a ranged attack is a good idea.

This is the closest thing I know of.

And it'd be worth it to keep, say, three ranks in unarmed and two in thrown weapons?

Provided you activate yoour AGI boost for more precision before throwing/punching, yes. You won't be great at it, but it'll be a decent fallback option.

>that seems like a plus to me

Not always. If it comes down to it, you'll put up more fight as a group, sure. But it'll be easier to track you all down, since your enemies need to only track single member of the team down. And realistically, if 'they' know where you are and decide to strike, they'll prepare for the whole group being there.

yeah, but if I'm going to get fucked I'd rather get fucked with company

So, I have a problem.
Say I wanted to do all the normal troll shit. throw cars around, smash people's faces, swing giant axes.

Then say I wanted to do that with the power of my mind instead of muscles. Like, as a psychic dwarf or something.

HOW VIABLE would this be?

How long do you reckon a pro-Corp Shadowrunner would live if they were outspoken about their support of The Man?

So I just finished re-reading Neuromancer, having last read it maybe 17 years ago, and despite my skepticism it's still fucking awesome. It's well-written, the characters are interesting, the plot is interesting, if this was written today I'd say it was a solid Cyberpunk novel. This is the very first of its genre and it's clear now why people followed in its footsteps.

But I don't recall the very first Shadowrun novel to come out - the Neuromancer-equivalent that sparked an entire piggy-backed genre of its own, that got a following. What was it, and is it still good and worth revisiting today?

Mage? Rigger jacked into a electromagnet crane?

Neuromancer really isn't well written. Gibson can not for the life of him write action, and I found it to also be slightly odd to follow.

It's still a good story though.

mage.
I don't think that second one works on anything other than metal.

>Neuromancer really isn't well written
Well we'll have to agree to disagree, 'cause I just now put it down and I loved the writing. I will admit the ending is a bit weak, though.

youtube.com/watch?v=A1vyB-O5i6E
you just need to get a REALLY strong magnet

so... how do I get the electromagnetic crane to the run?

Diferent user, I liked it but i did find it had some weird moments that made it a bit confusing to imediatly follow i remember one early moment with Molly in particualar being one. Overall a good read tho.

Depends on their environment. Some corps (like Ares) respect or at least tolerate runners as a necessary evil, and if they play fair (use stick'n'shock, don't damage property etc.) they can expect some form of mercy in case they get caught. Corps hiring runners for security checks are not unheard of.

As for other runners, they're not really a homogeneous mass. Some old-school anarchists might want to shoot you in the head, but I think mostly runners won't care about your personal opinions if you do the mission and don't inted to sell them to the corps.

So what would be its equivalent in the Shadowrun literature?

anyone know what the strongest clan in Tokyo is?
