I'm a Night Owl too. Home with flayed skin in the morning, singing the same old song! In the last thread we talked about if it's legal to turn your teeth into good luck charms and made 30k related songs, questionable knowledge was posted, one user wanted to know what was okay armor wise, no traps please, and we learned what would happen in the Gulf War if you replaced Sadam with Ferrus. Do we know of any times when blood Angels were allies to a word bearer strike force pre shaming
As trying to figure out somewhere that makes sense in the fluff for my CATHOLICS IN SPESS to logically be

Second for EC

No we don't. We'd have to wait for the full 30k BA fluff.
>As trying to figure out somewhere that makes sense in the fluff for my CATHOLICS IN SPESS to logically be
Explain.

M8, stop trying to force your night lords owl meme. If people don't reply, it usually means something doesn't really have the legs.

Didn't mean to force anything. Just something I'm going to do once and never again.

So I'm moving over to playing 30k from 40k, mostly because I like how it plays a lot better than current 40k. I have a SW army I build mostly from the BaC box (13th company actually, the classic 4th ed kind, in more "Historically accurate" armour marks), so I've got a good basis for a HH era list. I'm just trying to figure where to go from there.

What I've got so far basically sums out to:

-Variety of characters (So any HQ choice is possible to make)
-3 units of Vets
-Contemptor
-5 twin LC terminators (Used as void claws in 40k)
-3 drop pods, plus 4 'portals' I made to represent 13th co pods.

So what next Veeky Forums? Pic related, one of my dudes.

I don’t believe so. There isn’t much about that era in the BL literature, and no such occurrence in the FW books. You’ll just have to make up a story! The only difficulty is that the BA contingent would have wanted to move on a lot sooner than the WB, other than leaving a few marines behind to weep for the lost.

Best planet coming through

01000010 01101001 01110100 01100011 01101000
00100000 01110000 01101100 01100101 01100001 01110011 01100101 00101110

Owls are better off with their wings anyway.

Just out of curiousity, guys, but would a type of sonic weaponry based Mechadendrite exist for the EC's techmarines? I did doubt myself on any techmarine having enough flesh to get that implant, but then I thought the EC would probably have their techies have the "perfect amount of flesh and bionics". So would an EC techmarine get the sonic implant, or make a Mechadendrite version of it?

So, just to make sure, The Reaping gives DG units Move Through Cover, which in turn lets them automatically pass Dangerous Terrain tests, right? So I can just put down yards of Tanglewire (or as much as my Fortifications allow me, which is 36" per) and Phosphex the fuck out of the board, and all my units will just laugh at that shit?

Any good ideas for Tanglewire, besides a spool of barbed wire? I've wanted to make strips of minefield, but can't find anything good to use as mines.

Is he really that dark or is it just the lighting? The whitish background and lack of front lighting isn’t helping.

That bad news is that we’re a few to several months away from knowing what the SW will be like. I thought they disliked Contemptors, believing them cursed. And three units of veterans might be excessive. Dunno, I’m not as big a fan as others seem to be. As usual for a BaC army, you’ll struggle with tank-heavy or fast armies. Granted, most of your opponents will also be running BaC footsloggers so it won’t always be a problem. The drop pods will give you a leg up over most of them.

Loving the look so far, just need to drill the barrel
>5 twin LC terminators
At first I read that as lascannon terminators then I realised I just suck at abbreviations. Also the chaos marine backpack can be used but at this point it's irregular due to basically being the scrap version but still good way to differentiate

Guys thoughts on using the new Death Watch legs, chests, and heads to represent this Imperial Fist armor?

>And are you sure your opponent won't just leave
I bet they would walk in regardless.

Am a fan of the strong lines and symmetrical grid patteerns.

VIII won't be invented for a while.
>Lorgar discovers that the moon always points towards terra
Is that possible?

I like it but those Word Bears probably are going to get lynched for the crime of being Word Bears if this is a post Heresy thing.

If they're bitter they'll leave if they're prideful they seep to using literal graces to build fortifications to declare themselves the the best shit builders

>Can I use Mk VIII in 30k
Given Mk VII is fairly controversial, I'm going to say no.

There weren't any word bearers left on the Cathedral world
And inquisitors will go from your ancestor were HERETICS die, to
Well I guess you can worship the emperor in that way
So why can't marines that didn't get the whole pschyo hypnosis shiznat

Loyalist Word Bearers op.

Because in the Milky Way Galaxy there are two important groups of people who deal with the crime of Word Bearers being Word Bearers: the victims and the Ultramarines who prosecute them. Or you know you can have your Word Bears on a crusade to do as much good as they can before they get lynched.

...

Yeah I know Mk VIII wasn't invented until later, but the picture I posted isn't MK VIII it's supposed to be a HH era Fist.

But the new Death Watch MK VIII looks like a great way to represent the armor. Adding MK IV arms and powerpack will help make it look more "Horus Heresy".

>Loyalists & Ordos

those running legs in the deathwatch set tho, looks so good.

Really? Where's it from? Looks like Index Astartes art, which is fairly old fluff.

Are squads of volkite any good? Support or heavy. Volkites are one of the coolest weapons to come out of 30k.

yes

>"The rescue team has reported from Sebastus IV."
>"Any survivors?"
>"Only one."

As much as I like culverns, I'd say support squads of chargers or calivers are probably the best option as they don't eat your HS slot, or equip your termies with chargers for the same reason. Volkite really shines when you already have a metric ton of anti-tank weapons in your army, or when we are talking about the fuckhueg volkites like the ones on the glaive or knight styrix. Oh, and moritat with double serpentas is hilarious.

Legion Drop Pod mentions that it can fit one dread. Is there an option that lets me actually put one in it?

Yeah its from old art, but I don't see why it would discredit it.

We also have this from the Siege of Terra. (Although I'm not sure if its official, could be from Collected Visions)

Check the Dreadnought rules.

Yeah it says it can take a dreadnought drop pod. I'm talking about the regular drop pod.

They can't take em anymore.

Perhaps with the Orbital Assault RoW?

only dreadclaws and dread pods

I'm just a little dubious of sources from before Book I came out. Forgeworld have kind of blazed their own trail since starting the HH series, and changed a number of things, so it's not like that older lore is rock-solid.

After advice from a few threads back, ordered the Kharybdis Assault Claw and some WB Shoulder Pads.

Mortis w/ Assault Cannons and Xiphon are my AA and Sicarans are my anti-tank.
10 Gal Vorbak in Kharybdis is for turn 2 assaults
2 Assaults squads are quite durable and can get anywhere quick, and Chaplain now cause fear.
I don't see Superheavies at my FLGS, so not worried about that, although a Primarch will still scare me.

Used to be that, but because talons can pod in now they nerfed them to only dreadclaws and dread pods.

Speaking of which, why is a demi-culverin larger than a culverin? Shouldn't it be half the size?

Yeah, I get the feeling that should have been a Demi-Carronade (Glaive) or Demi-Chieorovile (Styrix) instead.
But now it's quite illogical.

I know I should be used to this, but I still can't get over how mean people are when it's anonymous.

I don't think the comment you quoted was actually rude. And we have seen real rudeness in here.

That looks like a pretty damn solid list.

I guess I should mention that stuff like Knights would be a potential problem, but you already said you don't see a lot of super heavies at your FLGS so I didn't mention it before. I feel compelled to mention weaknesses in any list I see, though.

With the price increase on Sicarans it is worth considering a Sicaran Venator if anyone at your FLGS does ever decide to get a super heavy or a Knight. It's basically the same price (actually a little cheaper) than ye olde standard Lascannon Sicaran since there's no point in getting sponsons on the Venator.

Would your AA actually handle a Fire Raptor? It seems like it would actually beat the Xiphon despite having the same cost. I know you obviously don't have room for it since you have the Sicarans but it made me think. The Xiphon really does seem way overpriced given how powerful and versatile the Fire Raptor is in comparison; the only way it seems like it would actually outperform it in AA is if FW starts making us use DFtS and flier roles become a thing.

Iron Warriors are slavs confirmed.

Or at least mine, because you guys are great for ideas.

Why not Germans?

Fists are german.

That's pretty messed up man. Living the rest of your life, knowing that you killed a boy you had just worked to help save.
Great War best war.

Nah, Fists are Prussian.

Indeed, just like the germans the Iron Warriors struggled to be relevant throughout the Great Crusade

youtube.com/watch?v=4ztOV2wrrkY

Thanks. I appreciate the insight.
Knights will be hard to deal with for sure, hopefully I can mass Rend one to death or let the Xiphon hit a side the shield isn't facing, they are literally meant for taking on stuff like that.

I have looked at Venerators before, and yes, they new points increases to normal Sicarans did hurt. Once Superheavies start popping up, it will definitely warrant one. I just like for the time being the symmetry of the force.

The Xiphon has Agile, so will have a 3+save. But likely it will be a match of 'who shoots who first' I'd actually prefer a Dredero w/ Autocannons and Missiles to the Xiphon, but lack the HS spot. Fire Raptors are downright great, but cost ~250pts after upgrading to Lascannons. If I ran 1, that would be a very different list (lose the Kharbdyis and 5 Gal Vorbak for an Anvillus Drop Pod and Fire Raptor)

But wouldn't that be the Word Bearers?

Even after the Emperor forgave them for Monarchia by destroying it, they decided to go off and worship chaos instead, repeating their past mistake.

At least they did stuff, IW only excelled in things that regular humans could do as well. You don't need marines to fire cannons at fortresses or to get massacred in pointless assaults.

But wasn't the Emperor punishing them because they did nothing? And didn't the IW come in like the top three when it came to conquering in the Great Crusade?

I think that was LWs/SoHs, DAs, and UMs.

Yeah, I can believe that.

WB accomplishments
>build cities
>plan the Heresy
>pioneer Chaos worship and possessed marines

IW accomplishments
>....

I know what they did. Pert got the Typhon to be a thing right, and they did play a role in the birth of Obliterators.

Unlike the WB every other legion, including the AL, were being useful and conquering.

WB conquered alot after Monarchia

>IW only excelled in things that regular humans could do as well
The IW rutinarily got called to do the most difficult missions, like dealing with Hrud or breaking fortress worlds.

>have an idea to make missile launcher mortis boxnaughts
>FW no longer makes right hand missile launchers

just like DG who were much better at it

That's what I'd think as well.
HH says it's a common misconception.

As a counterpoint dozens of 'up armoured' variant armour models could have come into production in the Great Crusade and later Heresy Era, and simply not gotten into mass production, due to flaws in the design, lack of interest in part of the greater legions or resource allocation. Raised Gorgets could simply be one of those variants that the fists kind of liked in mk 3/hardended mk 3 which didn't catch on or cost too much to produce for other, more numerous legions to bother with.

DG actually liked their job, were more resistant to shit and didn't throw away lives for nothing on the same scale as IW. Also their father actually loved them unlike Decimator.

DG were better as the Dusk Raiders.

Also, Morty only loved they who were from Barbarus, going so far as to refuse to recruit any not from his home planet.

Quite the different attitude for a similar job.
>DG were better as the Dusk Raiders.
Dusk Raiders heavy infantry tactics simply became even heavier when they became the Death Guard.
>Also, Morty only loved they who were from Barbarus
Well yeah, those were like his children.
Also
"Fuck those Terrans"
t. Corax.

"Fuck everyone"

t. Angron, Curze, Perturabo

And look where it got Morty. More loyal Terran children working in the motorpool, and more work for the traitors to deal with.
I don't understand this meme.

Well, both IW and DG ended up worshipping Nurgle..

>I don't understand this meme.

>It comes from Finnish memeboards.
>Basically, "t." is short for "terveisin" or "terkkuja" which translates to "greetings" or "yours truly". As if ending a letter or a postcard.
>So "t. Swaglord" means essentially "Greetings (from) Swaglord."

>IW
>Nurgle
They're in the neutral camp, and are going to use all of Chaos as a tool. But that is post-Heresy lore which has no place in this thread.
Thanks, Al.

Everyday we move further from the Emperor's light.

Perty is a Daemon Prince of Nurgle now.

I thought Perty and the IW are a Khorne/Nurgle lot rather than all four.

>And look where it got Morty. More loyal Terran children working in the motorpool
I find it difficult to believe how a Primarch noted for being able to read the ebb and flow of the battlefield so well could overlook the entire vehicular assets of his legion.
Still, DG were survivalists to the core, and caused a lot of trouble in Istvaan III, followed by those loyal EC perfectionists and the furious WE ones.
I could Khorne as the deity most marines would fall for.
But the huge siege at Vraks pleased Nurgle, so I wouldn't discard him too easily. Slaanesh wouldn't want to have a thing to do with that, however.

>Everyday we move further from the Emperor's light.
I know, but I wasn't link that page here. It's the enemy.
>Thanks, Al.
Np, but lurk moar. I didn't understand the meme and all I had to do was to type "what does t. means"

>Slaanesh wouldn't want to have a thing to do with that
Not even the bolter porn?

Huh, didn't know that

The Other Wolves are usually up there (generally 3rd, by old fluff) as well, which makes some sense - what with being the 2nd primarch found, though "worlds added" and "victories" are not the same thing.

I think they still had the 3rd highest casualty rate (after WE and IW, natch), but then they did get a lot of nasty jobs

I'd think the IW would hate Slaanesh.
Especially seeing as they weren't fond of the EC in the first place.

I was talking about the Siege & ZM environment.
Slaanesh is quite bored with what the quartermaster provides.
But I could see them making an automated people grinder for them to snort, or something like that.

Is that really from Terra?

I think it's suppose to be the Astronomican facility in the Himalayas or something.

>so well could overlook the entire vehicular assets
He didn't overlook them, he just put them somewhere he needed to trust them less - it might seem odd, given that that's the Legion's big guns, but being the premier infantryman that he was, and favouring heavy infantry as he did, Mort felt he needed marines he could trust more in those roles - ones who he could be sure would follow his orders and act as he would want, where as, to his mind, the guys in the tanks basically had big enough guns that it didn't matter if they didn't shoot exactly where he would have had them shoot - a bombardment is a bombardment, after all.

All of this is kind of ironic given that his legion, Terran and Barbaran alike, apparently really liked him and had such a solid chain of command that everyone knew not only what they were to do, but what their direct superiors were to do, so that casualties had almost no effect on organisation and control, but there you go - Mortarion, paranoid except for when it mattered

>My fleet was never sent any reinforcements or additional resources, this makes me bitter.
>How many did you request?
>None
Fucking Perturabo

Dude.
They credited him as "some comrade in arms".
A fucking Primarch.
And they didn't even mentioned him.
Anyone would get bitter because of that one, and it implies it was a common occurence.

As an unrelated user, it’s so nice to see that said about a list that has two big squads of assault marines.

It does look oddly unpolluted. But I suppose it could be the nicest place on earth due to the altitude (if you have posthuman lungs). The Himalayas are high enough to be above the permanent smog cloud. As a structural engineering, seeing a hive taller than the Himalayas in the background is quite interesting. M32 plasteel or plascrete must be amazing.

It's of dubious canon but they show Holy Terra briefly during the intro to the Fire Warrior video game. This is assumed to be in 40-41k.

>"So, who came up with that radical plan to defeat that one dude?"
>"I dunno, some guy who didn't really matter bruh."
>"Ah, that's cool. Was he from your legion or mine?"
>"I forgot."
>"Yeah, me too. Want to go celebrate?"
>"Heck yeah brah!"

Meanwhile!
>"Now my brothers will have to respect me and my legion, won't they? That sounds kind of nice actually, maybe I'll even invite them over to celebrate."
>"What do you mean they've already left? I even had constructed gifts for them!?"
>"They've claimed the victory for themselves, have they? Hmph! I should have known that my sons and I would be robbed of our glory as always."

Forgot my picture

You say it better than most, but what I'm trying to say is that it's unwise to put people you aren't sure they'd follow you into treachery at the command of the big guns.
I mean, this is what got Durak Rask killed, in a way.

I remember a IG story about the Inquisition asking the Commissars to execute their officers and submit themselves for mind scrubbing. They all did.
That's the loyalty I would have expected of Barbarans to Mortarion, but maybe not so from the erstwhile Dusk Raiders.

T-this sounds exactly as it would have happened. And Perty did get offended by a lot of things, several of them not even intentional. Good point.

It's just so stupid, having stuff like the iron warriors not even getting a mention in the chronicles and art of victories. Like all the times the Emperor acts like the biggest retard in the galaxy, could the writers really not come up with better reasons for Perty to turn?
