This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a nineteen year old man named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.

Rolls are made AFTER an option wins, not during the voting process

I hope everyone has fun.

Oh boy time for chestnut udders

It's been three years since you last saw Krillin and Chichi. The others may have changed noticeably in that time, but Krillin and Chichi have done so most noticeably.

Krillin's gotten taller! He's still not tall, but he's gained at least a foot since the last time you saw him. Considering you half-expected him to be the same height he was three years ago, it's a pretty drastic change. His head's less shiny than it used to be, and he's become far more muscular. He wears a relaxed smile, and gi with the turtle symbol just as he did before.

You barely recognize Chichi. In fact, had she not shown up with Krillin, you probably wouldn't have known who she was. Krillin's grown, but she shot up about as much as Goku did. A good amount of her hair is tied into a ponytail, instead of going down her back like it once did. She's also made a change in wardrobe, trading her bikini armor for a more practical blue and red outfit. Like Lazuli, she hasn't gone out of her way to look good, but she still looks fantastic.

"So, are we late?" Krillin asks, chuckling to himself.

"You're just in time," you answer, giving your old friend a smile. "Man, Krillin, you grew a lot! Do a lot of stretching since I saw you?"

"Me?" Krillin asks incredulously. "Look at you, man! You're giant!"

"He's right, Krillin, if it weren't for your bald head, I might not have recognized you," Goku comments, coming to your side and giving Krillin his typical jolly laugh.

Both Krillin and Chichi give similar reactions; wide eyes and pale faces. Your friends all seem to be reacting to Krillin's new appearance about how you'd expected.

"Goku?" Krillin asks, tears forming in his eyes.

Goku smiles, answering with a nod.

"GOKU!" Krillin cries, leaping forward and giving the larger man a tight hug. "It's so great to see you."

Goku blinks, looking down at Krillin with obvious confusion at the extreme reaction. "Uh...it's great to see you too, Krillin."

"Are you okay?" Chichi asks him.

Krillin looks up at Goku, more tears in his eyes. "I heard you helped bring me back! And you didn't come with Tofoo when he visited, so I never got to say thank you."

Goku laughs a bit uncomfortably. "You're welcome."

"Krillin!" Bulma greets happily as she and the others walk over. "How have you been?"

"Pretty great," Krillin answers with a wide grin. "Chichi and I have been travelling together for the past few years."

"That's Chichi?" Roshi asks in disbelief.

The raven-haired girl nods.

"You look great," Bulma compliments.

"Thank you," Chichi answers.

Hooray Som is back, I thought you might not post today after the double thread last night.

"What sort of training have you been up to?" you ask Krillin.

Krillin only answers with a laugh and a confident smirk, and you instantly know that he plans to surprise you with whatever he's been doing. Really, you should have expected as much from him.

"You'll see once I'm in the ring," he promises.

Fair enough. You give him a nod, then turn your attention over to Chichi, who's been mostly pretty quiet.

"Are you competing too?" you ask.

"That's right," she tells you. "I've been training for this for three years."

Goku's face contorts in shock, and you can't really blame him for being surprised. Three years ago, at the last tournament, Chichi had said that she dislikes fighting, and doesn't consider herself that great at it. You're sure Krillin had something to do with changing her mind, but still aren't entirely sure why she decided to compete.

"Speaking of which, we should probably register," Krillin tells her.

"The table's over there," Goku tells them, pointing.

"Thanks, be right back!" Krillin promises, turning and rushing over, Chichi calmly walking behind him.

"Hmm...I wonder if Ox King knows that his daughter's competing," Roshi muses.

"Wouldn't he be here if he did?" Bulma asks.

"He's never much enjoyed spectating," Roshi answers, chuckling. "When I used to spar with Gohan, he could never keep himself from jumping in. I'd spend the rest of the day watching those two go at it."

>A. You wonder why Ox King isn't competing in this tournament

>A. You wonder why Ox King isn't competing in this tournament
>D. If she's been training with Krillin, she must be pretty tough

"Why isn't Ox King competing?" you ask Master Roshi.

"He didn't even make it past the preliminaries last time," Roshi reminds you, not in a mocking or disappointed tone when talking about his student's defeat, just stating it as if mentioning there being a breeze. "I believe he reached the same conclusion as I did during that tournament; it's time to pass the torch to the next generation. He was one of the greatest warriors of his time, but now a new group's come up, and it's time to let them have their time in the spotlight."

"Sounds like he's quitting, if you ask me," Lapis comments.

"That's what I said, isn't it?!" Roshi snaps at him. "He had his turn, now it's time to let the kids do it!"

"Speaking of kids, I wonder how strong Chichi is," Bulma comments to the group.

"If she's been training with Krillin, she must be pretty tough," you answer, watching as the two of them sign up.

Registration should be ending any time, so where are the others? Tenshinhan, Chaozu, Yamcha.

Closing your eyes, you once more clear your mind, searching for the three warriors who should have been here by now.

"Good," Lazuli says as you try to focus. "It'll be nice seeing a girl in the ring."

Through extensive training on the Lookout, you've learned to focus your mind without entirely deafening yourself to the world around you. So, you can listen to Lazuli without your focus shattering as you search for the guys.

There they are; three powers are speeding right toward you, and as you open your eyes, you see them charging over, screeching to a halt in front of you and Goku.

Tenshinhan, Chaozu, and Yamcha.

The three of them mostly look the same as you remember, though Yamcha has a few more scars and has a warrior's wolf-tail (maybe so the other warriors will know he's fun and perky).

None of them wear their crane gis,and they all seem more relaxed than they were before.

>>B. Tell them they barely made it

With a smile

Sense what your internal readings say about their strength relative to yours.

Fuck powerlevels

For a second, you consider making a joke about Yamcha's ponytail, but decide not to get started off on the wrong foot here. So far, he doesn't look like he wants to gut you, so you might not want to spoil that.

You settle on a simple hello.

"Tofoo, Goku, it's been a long time," Tenshinhan says, greeting you and your friend. "You've both grown a lot."

"Hopefully you've trained a lot, too," Yamcha adds. "I'd hate to have put in all that effort for nothing."

Chaozu gives a smile, but doesn't really say anything.

"Come on, let's go register," Tenshinhan tells the others. "We can catch up later."

"Right," Yamcha nods, turning and heading for the table.

The three of them stop to chat with Krillin and Chichi, giving you and Goku a moment to try and assess their strengths.

You don't have to look very hard to see that all of them have greatly increased in strength. They're all in a calm and rested state at the moment, which makes it harder to read their energy well enough to tell their full strength, but you are positive that each of them have grown quite powerful, even Chichi.

From what you can tell, Krillin and Tenshinhan seem to be the strongest out of them, but that's not much of a surprise in all honesty. Still, you can't be sure that the others don't have some serious reserves of power. And, even if they don't, you know them well enough to expect some serious tricks.

Glancing over at Goku, you see your friend smiling. Of course, he's happy with the strength your friends seem to possess, as it means the tournament is sure to be far more interesting and the battles will be much more uncertain.

"This is going to be great," he tells you.

>>A. You agree

>A. You agree
>B. You're just glad to see them again
>D. Ask what he thinks about the strength of your friends

"Definitely," you say in agreement. "They've gotten a lot stronger, haven't they?"

"Yeah," Goku answers. "They've been training hard. I can't wait to see what they've learned."

Knowing this particular group of people, they've learned quite a bit. You'll have to keep on your toes in any battle you find yourself in, or you could very easily lose. Kami and Popo taught you well that raw power is not all that decides a battle.

Still, this isn't just about fighting to you. You've missed them over the past few years, and being together as a group again feels like coming home.

"Really, I'm just glad to see them again," you tell Goku.

The other fighters come walking over together, chatting and laughing like old friends despite the way things were a few short years ago. It's a change you're glad occurred; having to go through this tournament with Tenshinhan, Chaozu, and Yamcha out for your head in addition to Piccolo would have been a nightmare.

It'll be nice having just one enemy to worry about.

"So, we have all night to do what we want before the tournament tomorrow," Krillin points out.

"We should get some rest," Tenshinhan suggests. "We want to be at our best."

"And you'll be fighting more this year than you did last time," Bulma adds. "They're doing all the matches in one day instead of three."

>A. You prefer it that way

>>B. That's too bad, you liked being able to rest between fights
>>D. You can rest later, tonight you should all have some fun together

"That's too bad," you lament. "I liked being able to rest between fights. Wonder what made them change their minds."

"Less time for something to go wrong, probably," Lazuli suggests. "The last tournament ended with a contestant and the announcer getting killed, and a bunch of the competitors going missing."

Okay, fair enough.

"Well, we can all rest later," you say tell everyone. "For now, we should all go and have some fun."

"No, thanks," Tenshinhan tells you apologetically. "But I want to make sure I'm at my absolute best tomorrow. You guys have fun."

"Well, I did reserve rooms at one of the local hotels," Roshi announces. "Tenshinhan, I got you a room with Chaozu and Yamcha."

Tenshinhan nods at the old master. "Thank you."

Roshi pulls a key out of his pocket, handing it to Tenshinhan. "See you tomorrow."

"Right," the three-eyed fighter replies before heading in the direction of the hotel.

Chaozu looks around at everyone before following, the two of them soon disappearing from sight.

"So, what should we do?" Bulma asks, looking around at everyone for ideas. "There are plenty of restaurants around."

"That sounds good to me!" Goku says, grinning and rubbing his belly.

"Of course it does," Krillin tells him. "Anything else?"

"Well, there's a few clubs around, some malls, that sort of thing," Roshi answers.

"What's a club?" Goku asks.

"A place where people go to drink and dance," Krillin answers.

"Dad always told me to stay away from those," Chichi comments. "He said they were full of creeps."

"Oh, nonsense," Roshi tells her. "They're great! I used to go to all sorts of clubs when I was younger."

"I see your dad's point," Lazuli tells Chichi.

Wait, based announcer is dead, WE HAVE FUCKING DRAGON BALLS.

We need to fix that SOON, he saved our life guys!

I think he is alive, if we brought back everyone Piccolo and his minions killed for that time period

"Dinner sounds good," you tell the others.

"Yes!" Goku says, pumping his fist excitedly.

"I could eat," Lapis agrees.

"Alright then, I know just the place," Bulma tells everyone, leading the way off the tournament grounds and into the nearby city.

It's growing dark, and the light of the sun is gradually being replaced by the light of streetlamps and various neon signs. Clubs, restaurants, and various stores are passed by your group as Bulma leads the way to a rather nice looking place just a few blocks away.

"Here we are," she says. "Dinner's on me."

"That's a relief," Roshi says, letting out a sigh.

Goku's already licking his lips. Bulma should really count herself lucky that her family's so rich.

Your group is lead to a large table, and everyone begins taking their seats. You sit down next to Bulma, and your orders are soon taken.

Dinner is very nice; the food is good, and the company's better. The mealtime is full of laughter and reminiscing, as you, Goku, Krillin, Bulma, and Oolong recount early adventures, and laugh over past experiences.

Everyone seems to be in high spirits, and even Goku, who is probably the most socially inept guy you've ever met, is laughing and telling stories along with everyone else.

Krillin and Chichi, of course, sit together, and Lapis sits with Lazuli. You're pretty sure you notice Yamcha staring at Lazuli a few times, and wonder what's going on there.

Nothing wrong with someone looking at someone guys jeez.

"How have things been back at Capsule Corp?" you ask Bulma as the waiter sets down everyone's plates.

"Dad's been pretty happy to have Lapis around to talk ideas with," Bulma answers. "And that means I don't have to listen to him as much as I used to. And it's nice having another girl around who isn't my mother."

Lapis smirks. "Doctor Briefs is pretty crazy, but boy does he have some fun ideas."

"And he pays well," Lazuli adds. "It's nice to be able to make some money without having to steal it from dumb guys."

You think that was a joke.

Looking over at Master Roshi and Launch, you ask the two of them how things have been on the island.

"It hasn't been the same without Krillin around," Launch answers.

"But it sure has been quiet," Roshi tells you, laughing. "And I've gotten to spend plenty of relaxing quality time with Launch."

Launch doesn't seem to get Roshi's meaning, so she just smiles and says that things have been pretty relaxing.

Once the delicious meal is finished, you all get up and start heading for the hotel.

Krillin walks between you and Goku, a smirk on his face.

"So, out of the two of you, who's stronger?" he asks.

All the designs are pretty bad, and the characters are even shittier

I won't be upset if Yamcha wants some sweet sweet Lazuli. I'll be upset if his punk ass somehow manages to get her.

In all seriousness HOW could he.

>The three of them mostly look the same as you remember, though Yamcha has a few more scars and has a warrior's wolf-tail (maybe so the other warriors will know he's fun and perky).

"We'll find out in the ring," you answer.

You and Goku have sparred a lot over the past few years, but it pretty much always ended in a draw unless one of you got a very lucky shot in on the other. But, barring that, Popo or Kami would step in before you could get hurt too badly. This allowed you both to train more efficiently, but also put the question in both of your minds of who is the strongest fighter.

You suppose that you each have strengths and weaknesses. Goku probably has more raw strength than you do, but you are better at manipulating ki. Your endurance is probably a little higher than his, but his is certainly nothing to sneeze at. Goku's also rather unpredictable when it comes to fighting, meaning that a battle between you could go either way.

"But, I'm sure you have some tricks of your own to keep up with us," you tell Krillin, giving him a friendly jab.

"Oh, you've got that right," Krillin confirms, grinning up at the two of you.

"I can't wait to see how much stronger you've gotten," Goku tells him excitedly. "You and Chichi have been training hard, right?"

"Yeah," Krillin answers. "Chichi was really determined to get as strong as possible, and she made sure I was training my hardest."

"Was it a fun trip?" you ask in a teasing tone. "The two of you, alone together for three years?"

Krillin blushes, looking down and rubbing the back of his head. "It was pretty great. Chichi's actually a really good fighter, and an amazing cook. It was also nice spending time with her without her father around."
