>guy that knows stuff about surviving in the wild and hunts wild beast.

How do you make them boring?

He had to learn to survive in the wild because he was kicked out of civilization for being too boring.

Make them earn their keep. If they're the only one with the survival/wilderness skills then when your out in the wild the party is going to have to lean on him to help them do shit like survive and not get ganked by a hungry magical monster.

Are you implying they are innately boring?

underrated post

Come up with an interesting character. Make them a hunter/huntress.

By that I'm just saying that you don't need to make their interesting points SPECIFICALLY about them being a hunter. You don't need a flashy gimmick revolving around how they hunt or what they hunt.

This. You want them to have some flashy shit? put it in. If you don't? Then don't.

Make the character you want to play.

If you can start a few levels ahead:
To hell with that "one with the nature" stuff. Make them a great white hunter who is into the campaign because of the big, fat game.
Son/daughter of a noble who has no desire to keep up the family bussiness, but is tolerated because s/he brings fame to the house with those nice hunt trophies.
Make no mistake, s/he might not think much of nature but knows how to get around pretty well in the wild.
A rifle, musket or elephant gun is his/her weapon of choice if avaible. If not, a longbow or a big crossbow. A trusty hound-like creature if you are making a ranger.

As for why they are adventuring instead of enjoying the luxuries of an easy life? They might join the party on the way to capture some rare creature or exploring some new place, or maybe their family has decided they've milked them for all their worth and exiled them

If all goes to hell, before the end remember to say "Clever girl"

Assuming this is for a character, here's some ideas.

>Savage wildling raised by Wolves
>Retired veteran protecting village from wild/monsters
>Survivalist stalking wild for animals worthy of circus taming
>Shamanistic native who tries to ensure nature isn't destroyed
>Noble child out to prove his worth to Father
>Crazed Vet who wants to ensure their tiger-sempai is safe
>Hobo that was exiled/cursed/removed from society
>Native hired by museum/archeologist to protect expeditions
>Left for dead when training as Squire, now ready to seek revenge
>Father trying to make most of survival book given by (late) child
>DEldar style scientist lookimg for studys
>Farmer trying to prove self-sustaining life/farm is possible
>Friend bet £1,000,000 he couldn't tame a tiger, falcon and bear within 10 years.
>Left home at 10 to tame one of every creature on the continent
>Hunts down criminals with trusty animal companions for bounties
>Challenged to walk 500 miles and back by GF before she accepts his proposal
>Raised by Ents, now lives "with his uncles and aunts"
>Never felt alive in towns or cities; only in the great otdoors
>Hired by smithie to get pelts for decorative purposes on weapons
>Old man training another his secrets for tracking/survival/fighting/taming beasts
>Immortal/long lived creature having midlife crisis, devided to live in the wild

Pick

Make him hunt people.

1. Make their prey exciting.
2. Make them hunt with clever/unconventional means.
3. Integrate their vocation into the structure of an interesting culture.
4. At the very least, watch Predator. Make them like Predator...

A character's job is, generally a fourth of their persona, or a third at most. There are five key elements to fleshing out any character:
> Upbringing/Family
> Childhood Events
> Catalyst Event(s) (the things that made them decide to become the [hunter] they are today)
> Mistakes/Triumphs
> Motivations

You could dedicate just one sentence to each of these and have a better rounded character than 90% of PCs, and every sentence on top of that doubles their depth.

Point out how hunters in your world as often as not are hunting the crazy magic shit in the world and probably know a fair bit about the things that go bump in the night and what not.

how, pray tell, can it have been underrated in a mere 2 minutes 2 seconds? there wasn't even enough time for it to be rated.

its like calling something a modern classic

What is this even from?

Give them a scythe and have them hunt Grimm.

>hunt Grimm
My setting for the game is TES though.

Doesn't use arrows, just sneaks up within earshot of an animal and talks about his day. The poor things pass out in 5 minutes.

Well they dont have to be restricted to bows-
Bosmer that actually looks like a Bosmer, first off. (Horns, Antlers, etc)
Make them take adversion to killing people due to the one rule that states they must eat -ALL- meat they kill.
Then incorporate the rest of that green pact or whatevs.

A better question to ask is "which province is the story in?" Because you can have a lot of things to tweak between each one.

Other than that, build an interesting character in general.
Whenever I do a hunter character I make a backstory, typically of them coming from a long line of hunters in the past, whose mission is to bag the largest creature they can. (Had a blast in Skyrim due to the huge-ass dragons.)
But of course, that's all up to you.

...

Make his prey family/illusory/a nightmare/a mentor/a planet/a curse

Or make an interesting character and add Hunter to it.

Gun fu

Broquest. a really cool setting/game in progress that was dropped a while back.

pretty bummed about it.

A bit off-topic, but if you were riding a deer/goat thing, would there be any benefit to holding your bow against the horns?

>progress
kek

Make them a witcher. Glorified rat catcher trapped in a violent, brutal life of thankless dangerous work and reviled by commoners. Specialized equipment, training encyclopedic knowledge of monsters, inhuman senses and accompanying tracking skills. Deadpan cynicism and jaded professionalism.

Or a personal favorite, illiterate hick who wants to go 'squatchin'

make them hunt things

Definitely by NOT going pic related. Fucking Marty Stu

How's that show going? I lost track of it right around the time he lost his powers.

They hunt humans. 2edge4u

Focus on "character".

>memeshit is cool
>setting
>in progress

>Give them a scythe and have them hunt corn

>heh he thinks something I don't think is cool is cool
>what a loser

/v/ plz leave

Make them a Great Explorer type
>Nature serves man but still needs conservation
>Give them a noble, aggressive background
>Several followers to make life outdoors more gentlemanly
>Whatever weapon they have make it large or two handed
>Also, large glorious facial hair
