Apologies for huge image and being a dirty phoneposter, but here's the World Eaters Contemptor I finished recently

Next Malifaux crew WIP: Collodi, Master of Puppets

Top is the semi finished crew. Still need Green Stuff to gap fill before priming.

Middle are two Wicked Doll models that are going to be kitbashed into a Stitched Together (who is basically Oogie Boogie from Nightmare before Christmas).

Last sprue is 3 Alps from the Dreamer box that I'm going to Green Stuff up as Effigy puppets for Collodi.

Also in the middle of my first terrain project for my first Beast themed crew.

Still needs priming, color, flocking and plants glued on, but the basic outline of the Jungle is apparent. It was my first terrain project and a lot of fun to plan out.

Very neat!

Just finished these snotlings/lesser goblins for my SoBH orc warband.

It's been a while since I saw these characterful little snotlings

Thank you :) (I'm also responsible for this guy)

These look lovely! What company made them?

I would love to play against this with my Heresy-era Blood Angels.

What guides/tutorials are best for someone with absolutely 0 painting experience and no talent for artistic stuff?
I don't mind if it takes a lot of time and effort as long as it shows well how to not be terrible

Great fun to paint. Been scooping up a few at various yardsales and similar.
I like how they are so essentially pathetic next to basically anything.

So i tried using metallic permanent markers and i was suprised how well it turned out. Definately wouldnt recommend it for fiddly stuff though. The bronze/gold, steel, and green are all pen. I feel a bit dirty though, like I cheated somehow.

They are GW snotlings.

That one is really great. Lovely super-smooth white and weathering.

Cool idea.

Can you post an 'after' picture once you've given them a wash?

Cool, yeah Josef doesn't seem to have much of backstory though maybe I'm looking in the wrong places. Painting these is going to be fun!

Delphan though, I have some skiitari and mechanicus forces so I might just bring him as a Fabricator General mascot

looking for some critique on this, and also basing suggestions
Apologies in advanced for the poor lighting

>Cool, yeah he doesn't seem to have much of backstory though maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.

I never really paid a lot of attention to them when Inquisitor articles appeared in White Dwarf since I didn't play that game. I bet you could figure out if Josef was featured in WD with some clevva googling.

Artemis was my inspiration for this lad.

>Painting these is going to be fun!

I got the impression that a big part of the game was kitbashing and converting using parts from several different kits. I don't know the mechanics or character creation roolz, though.

...

The rockets are kinda messy, but it looks pretty good.

Slow and steady.

yeah i'm not proud of the rockets, i just painted the front and sides and afterwards noticed they looked awful

...

You know, that's actually a pretty cool idea. Making smaller versions of these huge-ass models.

Bringing artemis is even bigger than Perturabo I think.

Now never use the phoneposter excuse again.

The contemptor, however, is very nice. It's got lovely detail and it's all nice and smooth. I wish the metal bits, most notably the rotary cannon, deserve a bit more flair. The highlights on the shoulders are also a bit messy, but not dangerously so.

Alright guys, I really need sone advice on washes. No matter what I seem to do, when ever I put on a wash, it drys in this weird, blotchy yet shiny coat. I've tried thinning my washes, and three seperate brands(Army Painter Dark Tone, Citadel Nuln Oil and Vallejo Game Color Black Wash), and yet they all come with this dirty looking coat. How the hell do I fix/use these paints?

Building my gk librarius conclave.
>tfw no greenstuff skills besides snakes and spheres.

Is that regular Battletech scale? My recollections are 25 years old, but I didn't think the Mad Cat's "toes" fit on a standard metal Ral Partha hex base. Of course, as a Space Marine player, I know all about toes hanging over the edges of the old 25mm slottabases...

Remember the scale you're working at. Big mechs (the Mad Cat is 75 tons) are 10-12 meters tall, so everything on the base should be scaled accordingly.

>You know, that's actually a pretty cool idea. Making smaller versions of these huge-ass models.

Google "Inquisitor 28". It struck me as dumb that GW would make a game so out of scale with anything else they'd ever produced that you couldn't share the terrain between games with it.

Yeah it's 25mm, about the same size as a space marine
It's one of the iron wind metals sculpts

When did forgeworld get rid of all the venerable dreadnoughts for Chaos?

All they have now are the HH contemptors.

Is it still possible to buy them somewhere?

Months ago. They'd been around for ages so the sculpts were retired to make room for new stuff. Got an Alpha Legion one right at the end.

Your best bet would be recasters or facebook groups.

>Finally have stable job
>Models that you've always wanted go out of production

If it makes you feel any better not ALL of their boxnaughts are out of production, just the ones that were selling very, very slowly. Some of them were excellent, others... not so much. We're probably due for a new boxnaught plastic kit anyway.

Meanwhile, the Legions have good support with things like etched brass to convert your own, and quite a few of the Contemptors look great.

Also, worst case scenario, the Helbrute plastic kit is actually a thing of beauty, even if the look itself is very... different.

Newest addition The Fist of Gork

awesome all around. who makes the red haired fellow?

...

Thanks.
He's a Bard from Midlan Miniatures. They cast some of the earlier Mega Miniatures range of adventurers. Awesome, if a bit small, characterful miniatures.

*midlam miniatures. Derr

This is me, but with the Thunderhawk Transporter. Such a cool model and ties together how my army would deploy according to the fluff.

There are worse fates.

That's the first conversion using AoS bits that I really liked, great job user!

Got any pictures of this guy as you were making him?

Anti-daemon pokéballs?

My first attempt at OSL. Can anyone offer C&C so I can do better on the next guy?

Apologies for the shit photo setup, I don't have a nice photobooth or anything.

Also any advice on how to make power swords look more powerswordy without hand-painting lightning bolts on them would be appreciated.

Thank you! very characterful

Not to rain on your parade, but master the basics before you do OSL. OSL is pretty tricky to get just right, and yours is pretty crap, I'm afraid.
On top of that, your primer looks slightly fuzzy, your paints are just blotchy (especially that white), the bolter is uninteresting, highlighting is lacking, and the OSL effect is almost unnoticeable on top of that.

Apply paint in many, thin layers, use washes, and practice getting those right before you bring out the advanced techniques.

Tips on working with the opening hatches/doors on vehicles? I glued shut the door on my first vehicle, a predator, since it's a tank and not a transport. But I plan on making an openable hatch and painted interior for my land raider, drop pod and razorback. How can I make the hatches stay securely shut while still allowing them to be opened?

Magnets. Can be hidden if you drill a hole and smooth the top.

I do have rare earth magnets, but I think they might be a little strong. That, and some of these doors are pretty thin. I'll see what I can do about them, though.

Maybe if I paint over them, they won't show, and the bond will be strong enough to hold, but easy enough to break.

If they're too strong, put a piece of metal on the other side. Cheaper, and gives less pull.

Witnessed

>"Go fetch, Spaghetti!"

Ever so slowly, it comes together.

is there any good model with Anorectic looking body with bare chest? i was thinking of converting a Necrarch vampire but can't find good base model.

the GW ones would be nice if the pose didn't suck so much

tre manor's zombies.
You can also get some pretty good Max Schreck Nosferatu kind of vampires. They would do the trick as well.

Well I'm starting to consider paying someone to join me for dinner.

Absurd disposable income, and loneliness do not mix well.

That is a bad thing yes. I wouldn't recommend doing that...

escorts are not exactly unusual...

I know. Trying to fix my SoB, but well kind of lost my motivation.

Waiting for my extra bits to arrive from Chinaman, and kind of struggling to understand if he fuck up my order or not.

Newfag here, anyone use Lustrian Undergrowth?

I was thinking of picking up a pot or two to do some bases but I'm not sure if it's a good paint or not since I never hear it mentioned, even when talking about texture paints in specific.

If I were to pick it up, what other paint should a I use to basecoat? Caliban Green, Warboss Green, Castellan Green, or Death World Forest?

What about highlights? Should I drybrush or layer highlight?

will definitely have to check out some.

rummaging through my bitz box i also found a tomb king skeleton body that looks like with little green stuff work and proper paint job it would look skinny instead of literally skinless

I finished most of the work, have to clean up the sword and mess with the base a little, but here he is! I ended up going with a dirty brownish cape because the white was too nice and clashing a bit.

C&C would be appreciated. I have another black knight that I'm going to paint in a year to see my progress.

I'd buy minis like that

Damn son, that's a hell of a lot better than I can do

Gonna steal that

I was actually thinking about this before; red power swords I mean. Considering doing some for my Sanguinary Guard. Their swords are called Glaives Encarmine, after all.

Anyone have any pics of red power weapons being done, uh, better?

someone please send me a Johnny thanks

Sent :)

I believe in you user. Youtube tutorials got me this far, only been painting for a few months. You can do it.

Thanks senpai I'll post pictures of it painted up when I get it

Why isn't the chainsord bloody?

How does one fit a Bullgryn grenade gauntlet with an actual magazine without it looking like shit? I hate how the thing looks like you need to load every shell by hand, which is really neat when you have a huge shield in the other hand.

I need to watch more tutorials, but at least I'm not trash anymore. I've only been at this three months myself

Just got handed 5 minis to paint for $50, so I'm feeling pretty good about myself at the moment.

fuck those things look retarded.

why geedubs why

so ugly.

What kind of markers did you use? I've tried a super fine sharpie for like text and stuff but it won't write on painted surfaces.

what makers do you use?

You got $50 to paint that? Where do you find people who'll pay that much?

first time ever painting a model using glazes. i can tell i need to be better at cleaning up a model before priming, but hows the rest of it?

the texture paints are nice to ave time, but they are literally just paint mixed with hermit crab / fine grain hobby sand that you can get at any pet store or hobby shop for a dollar. the cracked earth is literally just paint mixed with crackle paint from any paint store. you can save a lot of cash by just mixing it yourself.

Drill that fucking barrel

Storm Wardens Kill Team

Grey Hunters

1/2

Sky Claws, no Jump Packs yet.

2/2

no, I got essentially $9 to paint that

the $50 is for five minis that I just got handed this afternoon

Before you take jobs, consider how much time you'll put into the work, and what your time is worth per hour.

If I did that, I would have to charge him $40 per mini, and they aren't worth $40 of paint

But the job buys me new minis/paint, and gets me better at painting, and these are still people I personally know.

I've been stepping up the price as I've gotten better

Two months ago, I charged a friend $5 for this piece of shit

What paints do I need for winter themed wildwood rangers? And how do I do it?

Getting into the hobbyfag here. First ever model, just finished the red basecoat with a bit of shading added. The red took 5 fucking coats to cover up all of the black primer but I'm happy with how it turned out, other than a couple of blobby parts here and there. The shading was a bit sloppy, looks great in some places but bad in others. Hard to see in the pic though since it's dark and only one angle.

Mouldlines suck, but I've since bought some proper tools for cleaning the plastic as well as a drill for the barrels I can use on future models.

Next up is highlighting along with touching up the metal parts that got red on them, and then the details like brass on the guns, lenses, blood drops, wings and the faceplate.

Debating between painting the front wings either white or gold, what do you guys think? Typical blood angels color scheme btw.

Any other tips/suggestions? I know the pic isn't too great but the lighting in my room sucks ass.

Also, the arms don't have shields because the ones in my kit were warped and didnt fit properly.

The leg plates are still waiting to be attached too.

Are the Warmachine paint packs (6 army specific colors) a good deal?

I bought an unpainted army, and I'm wondering if I should bother getting the faction specific paint as well.

How are the P3 pots? I've got Vallejo and Army Painter right now. I'm a fan of the droppers since there's no chance of cross-contamination, and the Army Painter does some of the problematic colors in the Vallejo better. So I feel like I've got the basics covered.

Kind of too lazy to mix up specific green-blue-grey shades though and keep it consistent across a month of painting.

glazing the runes

working on three things this week: knight, vulture, and detail work on vehicles

I spent most of today washing every. single. rivet. on about half my vehicles.

knight still has shoulders and some armor bits to get airbrushed

Vulture cockpit is mostly done but I can't get the damned thing to fit inside the model properly. Not sure if I assembled it wrong or what, but it's holding me up.

Shitty picture but the minis look really nice. The guy with the staff reminds me of the snooty twins from Dishonored.

Oh hey, you're Steel Legion guy. You finally got rid of your knight's wifebeater look eh?

I'm trying to make a stand-in for my Jokaero and decided that I'm going to make a Squat in the style of Yagrum Bargan from morrowind, with shoulder weapons.
Anyone has any tips on crab/spider mecha legs for small minis?

Does any one have any good basing tutorials? I'm looking for something different and a bit challenging for my circle Orboros. I don't want to do the standard Snow/rock/dirt look for them.

Working on it, yes. Need to get my airbrush fixed first.

I love the idea but there's not much in the way of mechanical spiders.

Maybe cut up an Onager Dunecrawler's legs?
