I hate this story because that's not how the rules of the game fucking works, but it's told as if it is the case.
I had a GM try and pull this bullshit once and it wasn't fun at all. Rolling a 1 on a skill check (which doesn't have a critical failure rule, mind you) still does not mean the GM can make my character develop feelings for a character that I until 5 seconds ago had strong reasons for wanting to kill.
It's okay to create stories like this just for fun, but it just gets awkward when new players actually think thats just how things work in "the wacky world of roleplaying" and they try to force situations like it.

IIRC, it originally was in one of the greentext "crit fail" threads, which were essentially about how stupid crit fails would be if they worked the way people think they work. If I recall it was a reply to

This comic took a joke that was like 10 lines long at most, and padded it out so you now know the players are two guys and two chicks and one is a token minority.

the "progressive stack" is allowing people who have less privilege in the dominant culture to speak first. Basically, if a bunch of people want to say something, you let the black person speak before the white person, a woman speak before a man, etc.

You might be thinking, doesn't that immediately turn into some kind of fucked up game where you need to figure out if a middle-class one-armed black woman is more or less privileged than a poor white immigrant transgender man?
