German Hollow Quest 29

After a particularly nasty roughhousing with Nnoitora you managed to get up from the pool of blood in which you were lying.
You made sure to focus your healing on your legs so walking wouldn't be impossible for you but even with that you still have to rely on your swordcane to not fall over.

As you are standing up you can still see Tesra dragging Nnoitora out of the pool.
With an outstreched hand you begin generating your healing salve and let it drop into Tesras palm.
He looks up to you and asks.
"What's this?"

"It's medicine, apply it directly to the wounds and he should get better in a few minutes."

After realizing what you just did he deeply bows before you.
"Thank you very much Lord Kaizar!"

As you look over to Nnoitora you can almost hear how pitiful he thinks Tesra is.
You bash in the back of Tesras head and begin growling.
"What do you think you are doing?!"

He reels back in surprise and answers as he is caressing the back of his head.
"I-I'm sorry?"

With an angry glare you stare him down.
"I didn't give it to you just so you'd thank me!
And besides, you are an Arrancar and the Fracción of a soon to be Espada.
So grow a spine Tesra!"

Upon hearing that you can see Nnoitora stands with the support of his scythe.
"Oy...."
With a fast slash his blade flies across your cheek and leaves a barely noticeable scar.
Nnoitora begins speaking while panting heavily, as the attack required way too much effort from him.
"Only I can talk like that to MY subordinate!
You got that?"

You pull your hat over your eyes as you turn around and speak up while trying to conceal your coy smile.
"Yes.
My apologies."
With that you begin slowly walking off into the center of Vanaheim while dragging your bad leg.

As you slowly limp to your destination you notice several hollows and arrancars eyeing your bloody and tattered clothes.
With a heavy sigh you quietly mutter to yourself.
"Another set of perfectly good clothes ruined..."

After a while you arrive at your destination.
A rather large rock sitting within a circle of azure trees where a single ray of moonlight illuminates the whole thing.
Sitting on a rock you can see your old friend Neliel reading a book which she probably stole from the living world.
After hissing a lot trying to climb the rock with a bad leg you finally reach the top.

Neliel looks at you with surprised eyes.
"What happened to you?"

"Nnoitora..."

"Oh, I see."
She sets her book aside and stands up to talk with you.
"How can I help you?"

You take a quick glance at the book on the ground.
"Good read?"

She nods.
"It's called To Kill a Mockingbird.
I took notice of it when we went to the living world with Alex."

"Neat.
So how do you do it?"

"I-It's not about that..."

"And with that all of my interest in it is gone."

She sighs and gives you a disappointed look.
"You came all the way here just to insult my book?"

"Oh no I was just curious.
But would you mind if I sat down? Nnoitora decided to be a bitch and kept cutting my tendons and now it hurts like hell."
While trying to find a comfortable position to sit in Neliel begins talking.

"You know, I feel your reiatsu so rarely that every time I do it surprises me."

"Yeah, well it sometimes scares even me but whatever.
What I wanted to talk with you was actually something much more serious."

"Do tell."

"I think I finally managed to make some real progress with Nnoitora
And I believe I might have found the final piece of the puzzle after fighting him."
You look over Neliel as her eyes light up.

"Really?
And I was getting he might never learn!
Thank God!"

You begin scratching the back of your head uncomfortably.

But Neliel doesn't pay attention to you and springs up.
"I think I'll go and congratulate him!
Thanks for helping with him Kaizar, I owe you one."

You grab her ankles and signal her to sit back down.
"You see, that's what I wanted to ask.
You've been shadowing Nnoitora for a while now, correct?"

She nods.
"Yes.
I took him with me on some patrols and I even followed him when he left on his own."

"And what did you actually do with him?"

She blinks in surprise.
"Not much.
I scolded him sometimes and sometimes I stepped in on his fights when it was necessary."

You raise your finger to get her attention.
"Did you harshly berate him or was it just a light scolding?"

"I sometimes called him a child if that cuts it..."

You slap yourself on the forehead as your suspicions are confirmed.
Neliels word "child" made it all clear. She genuinely cared about Nnoitoras safety and like any mother would she went out of her way to help him.
Too bad that with his personality that was the worst thing she could have done.
With her overly nice attitude and Nnoitoras messed up world view, conflicting emotions arose within him and in time they would have developed into something catastrophic.

You have to correct this error.
But how will you tell her?

She's not smart, but she should be able to at least understand what we're telling her to do
Plus, outright telling her all about nnoitras deal that he told us in confidence is the fucking most dickish, assholish thing we could possibly do, and would undo most work we've done with him thus far and we'd lose most, if not all, respect, imo

"I get what you're trying to do, but it's likely to do more harm than good. Until something really changes with him, you should probably give him a wide berth. Too much niceness is something he won't even know what to do with, and his default reaction to that is violence."

I still dont get the Tesra thing

Tesra is in love with nnoitra, the response by kaizer in last thread is because he figures out how alex knew kaizer was in a relationship,

They like each other but are dancing around it. I'm sorry to tell you this user, but you've become as dense as a harem protagonist.

"You see, that's the whole problem..."
You say while scratching the back of your head, trying to find the right way to phrase this.
"I get what you're trying to do, I really do. But it's likely to do more harm than good.
Nnoitoras world view is so warped and alien to our own that your interactions with him were more harmful than anything.
Your "nice" attitude towards him and how you followed him around, ready to help most definitely "confused" him."
And you pause right there, letting things sink in for Nel.

She pauses for a moment before speaks up.
"A-are you suggesting he had feelings towards me?"

Your heart skips a beat as she spoke up.
You worry that she might have figured things out but you quickly get rid of those thoughts.
After all, there's no way she realized the whole thing. It was probably just a lucky guess.

"I honestly have no idea but I can't deny it for sure.
What I'm saying is that you awoke various mixed emotions within him and that caused him to be volatile.
I'm suggesting that you should probably give him a wide berth until some major change occurs in him.
Too much niceness is something he won't even know what to do with, and his default reaction to everything is violence."

Neliel seems to be lost in thought as she is weighing her options.
After a sigh she speaks up.
"Alright.
But you have to promise me to watch out for him in my stead.
He is still too green to be left alone."

You don't really like that idea but you don't have much of a choice.
It's either that or not doing anything at all.
"Fine.
I'm probably the only person he can tolerate anyway."

"Was that everything you wanted?"

"Huh?
Oh yeah, I'll leave you to your mockingbirds and stuff."
You wave her a goodbye as you leave.
"Take care Nel."

"Thanks, you too."
With that she returns to her book while you are walking off.

Hopefully with her not interfering with Nnoitoras development he'll come to terms with his life.

I get they like eachother its just Kaizers reaction to him last thread

After that particularly awkward talk you slowly shambled home to get a nice rest and allow the Einherjar to do their job.
When you were in top shape you returned to your daily routine of playing around with your grandson.

As you are tossing Dante into the air you can hear Alex groaning in the background.
"How do you still have energy for that?"

"What do you mean?"

"We've been up all night yesterday.
I can barely keep my eyes open..."

"Nobody said raising him would be easy."
You say as you throw the infant into the air and have his laughs fill the room.
"Besides, this is the best part! There's no way I'm leaving this out!"
It's true that Alex used to be so energetic it was annoying but even she is tired from Dante.
While he is in perfect health he has quite mischievous tendencies.

As you are having fun with your grandson you can hear someone closing in on you.
A pair of arms appear from behind and reach ahead for Dante while you feel the individual snuggling up to you.
Harribel takes the infant from your hands lifts him up.

You turn around to look at her with your grandson in her hands.
"I know you love caring for him but at least wait until its your turn."

She looks happy as she is rocking him back and forth.
As Dante calms down Harribel turns her attention to you.
"Actually you have a guest."

You raise an eyebrow at that.
"Really?
Who?"

In that moment you see someone appearing in the door frame.
His body is so large he has to lower his head to fit in.
"Yo."
Nnoitora greets you with a hand casually raised.

"Nnoitora?
That's a surprise."
You say as you are standing up.
"Please, come in."

He looks around and sees Alex, Harribel and Dante and he makes a weird expression. Embarassment?
"I'm not sure that's a good idea.
I just came to have a talk. That's all."

"Well we can talk in here as well.
So come, have a seat."

"Erm...
Fine."
He says as he enters reluctantly.

Both of you sit down at opposite ends of the table and stare each other down.
Eventually the situation gets too awkward and Nnoitora speaks up out of desperation.
"I just came to talk about last time."
He looks down at the table with his sole eye.
"I thought long and hard about what you said.
I even rolled around at night without any sleep because of it.
While I won't say shit like "thanks" or "sorry" I'll acknowledge what you said and I'll try to be less of an ass."
He looks up at you.
"So, we cool?"

You lean back on your chair and look at him.
"We were always cool.
While we don't always see eye to eye I consider you my ally Nnoitora.
And even if not much changes you won't lose anything by trying, right?"

"Yeah..."

In that moment you can see something interesting happening.
Dante is reaching for Santa Teresa while cooing in excitement, his hands are almost touching the edge of the blade.
You also notice Nnoitora acknowledging the babys presence.
This might pose danger to the baby, then again he is quite resilient for an infant.

We gotta be a responsible grandparent, guys.

Yeah, and we can do so by letting Nnoitra play with our grandkid.
It's not like he's stupid enough to actually do anything stupid. This is NOT canon nnoitra. remember that. This one isn't utterly irredeemable.

Also? We're not his parents. We're here to spoil the kid, not teach him moral lessons. We're not his parent, we're his GRANDparent.

Acceptable.
>the Fear Eater is a doting grandfather

>Writing.

I am actually more worried about the baby eating him. Also touching other people swords is a bad habit.

Not that the baby eating him won't be fun, but there is Aizen to worry about.

You don't really want to interfere as you are curious about what would happen.

As Dante is reaching ever forward and gets dangerously close to the blade however something happens.
Nnoitora grabs the shaft and pulls the weapon aside.
"That's dangerous you dummy!"
He looks at the baby with angry eyes.
"You touch that and it cuts you! You got a deathwish or something?"

In that moment you can see large tears forming under the babys eyes and he begins sobbing.
Nnoitora doesn't know how to react to this and pulls Santa Teresa even further away.
"N-no means no!"
But as the sobbing is slowly transforming into a full cry something changes in Nnoitoras expression.

"Fine, fine! You win!"
He then slowly extends his weapon toward Dante but only the edgeless side.

Dantes cries disappear almost as quickly as they came and he touches the weapon.
As he is touching the surface of Santa Teresa his glee returns and begins laughing once more.
While Dante keeps smearing his own tears across the metal Nnoitora looks at him awkwardly.

"C-can I pet him?"
He asks Harribel, nervously.

She looks at him confused and then looks at Alex.
"Just don't let him grab anything on you, especially your fingers."
She says without really paying attention to things.

As Nnoitora is slowly ruffling the white hair of Dante he begins speaking.
"Hah, that's nonsense!"
He then begins poking the babys stomach with his finger, almost taunting it to grab a hold of it.
"What's the worst that co-"

And in that moment Dante catches him and gives a good squeeze to one of Nnoitoras digits.
"HOLY-"
He looks in surprise but he quickly regains his composure.
"Damn, that's an iron grip for something so small."

You are honestly surprised his finger didn't break, then again Nnoitoras Híerro is notoriously tough

And we have been training him a lot.

Honestly I would not be surprised that he is at the level we were before we became Vasto Lorde after he heals.

But eventually you take pity on the poor bastard and go to fetch your grandson.
"Now, now Dante!
No touching without permission!"

You pick him up and carefully pry his grip open, freeing Nnoitora in the process.
The imprint of the infants hand is clearly visible on his finger.
"Damn!
What do you feed this kid?"
He says with a smile as he is shaking his hand up and down.

"What's wrong Spoony?
The big, mean arrancar has a soft spot for children in his heart."

With an audible snicker he speaks up.
"Who knows?"
He begins walking outside but gives you a final glance before leaving.
"Oh and by the way... Do I have you to thank for getting Neliel off my back?"

"Perhaps."

"I see.
Well, sorry to trouble you."

"Hey, come by any time.
I'm sure Dante would like it."
You shout after him as he leaves.

Your daughter gives you a strange look.
"Why can't you ever find the normal ones Dad?"

"Oh?
Are you saying you'd rather not have met me?"

"Point taken."

For two whole years afterwards you spent the majority of your time either with Harribel or with Dante.
The only remotely Espada like task you did was training with Nnoitora.
He even grew almost fond of Dante as he visited him a few times, alongside Tesra.

As for Dantes development.
The rate at which he learned things was quite fast but not something you'd call supernatural, he was just very clever.
His first word was said to Tier and it was "Nana", needless to say she enjoyed that quite a lot.
It wasn't surprising since she was his nannie for most of the time and the only person who spent more time with him was Alex.
What you also found out was that his powers were in fact quite undeveloped at his birth and they have been growing ever since.
You also managed to figure out the exact nature of his abilities.
It seems like he is capable of freely controlling the substance in his chest, transforming it into practically anything from a hollow mask to a replica zanpakutō.

But all is not well, as you feel something approaching

Barragan?

!@#$ Aizen!

>Dante's first word

While you are visiting Yatas lab you hear a loud explosion followed by a loud scream.
"FUCK!"

Similar things were quite commonplace in his workshop but usually he is not so angry when he messes up.
You can see a scruffy japanese man with long hair tumbling out of the pitch black smoke, pouring out of the lab.
He is completely naked and has the look of a man who'd rather not have woken up this morning.

"Yo."

Your eyes almost fall out of their sockets as you recognize the voice.
"YATA?!
WHAT HAPPENED?!"

"I was examining Dantes samples when it blew up in my face."

"And you TRANSFORMED?!"

"Yeah...
It seems like it kickstarted the arrancarification process."
In that moment he looks to the side.
"I'm gonna KILL that faggot!"

"Szayel?"

"Szayel!
Anyway, what did you want?"

"Oh, erm...
I just wanted to ask for a new set of diapers.
But I can't stay for long, I have to go for the meeting."

"Aizen?"

"Aizen..."

"Okay, I'll see what I can do.
But first I'll make some clothes."

"Yeah... do that."

Before you head out you have some time to meet up with someone.

We most likely did. Is in character.

>Go to Harribel

>Writing

After leaving the naked Yata alone you went out to find Harribel.

While walking you began thinking about the sudden appearance of Aizen.
Usually he disappears for a few decades and only comes back after giving you a notice in advance.
But this time he simply showed up in Vanaheims doorstep.

"Odd."
You mutter to yourself as you enter Harribels house.

As you step forth you see the Tres Bestias doing their usual stuff, bickering.
When you get in they briefly stop and greet you.

"Yo, Kaizar!"
Apacci greets you loudly.

"Hey girls.
Where's Harribel?"

"In her room.
She should be ready any minute."
Mila Rose speaks up.

"Oh, this reminds me.
Mila Rose, Yata said he wants you to go over to his place and that it's urgent."

She looks up in confusion.
"Really?"

"Yeah.
He said it's of the utmost importance that you get there, RIGHT NOW!"

Upon hearing that she quickly begins running out with a worried expression.
As she leaves Apacci sees your fiendish grin.
"What did you do?"
She asks.

"I either made or ruined their day.
We'll see.
In any case you said Harribels in her room right?"
With that you began walking to her door and started opening it.

"Yeah but you can wa-"

In that moment you open the door and you can see Harribels bare body on full display.
Your eyes meet at one point but it doesn't last long as your eyes run along the curves of her frame.
As your brain is finally processing the situation you awkwardly begin mumbling.

"S-sorry!"
And you slam the door with such force that it breaks the hinges.
"SHIT!"
You fumble for a while with the now broken door as you try to put it back to cover the now empty door frame.
After that embarrassing display you go to the entrance of the building while Apacci is laughing at you hysterically.

"My, my.
To think that the second most powerful individual in the forest would become so meek in the presence of a woman whose naked body he has already seen plenty of times."
Sung-Sun chastises you.

That reminds me, have we fugged the waifu?
....where can i read?

>"Oh, this reminds me.
>Mila Rose, Yata said he wants you to go over to his place and that it's urgent."
Oh god. We're fucking awful. And I fucking love it

>whose naked body he has already seen plenty of times.
"I've seen the sun rise plenty of times too." (back when we were alive)

This.

That needs some context. As it stands what do you even mean?

As you are adjusting your red scarf to cover up your face you begin speaking, trying to safe face.
"You may criticize me all you like.
But I'll let you know something.
I was always a reserved man and as such I've kept my distance from women most of my time.
And my father told me that women deserve the utmost respect and I lived by his words my entire life.
Truth be told I was never good with women because of these reasons so when I finally..."
You actually realized what you were about to say and managed to stop yourself.
"Anyway, the moral of the story is this.
If I have to bear your remarks for always treating Harribel with the respect she deserves then I'm fine with it."

Apacci snorts as she keeps laughing.
"Nice try there but we won't let you off the hook that easily.
I mean look at you! Your face is redder than your scarf!"

But in that moment Harribel shoves her former door aside and comes out, fully clothed.
"That's enough you two!
The man has enough problems without you."

Apacci gives her a wide grin.
"Of course Mistress!"

Harribel reaches around you and gives you a tight hug.
"You cut off your sentence there..."

"You noticed huh?"

"Obviously, now out with it."

"All I wanted to say is...
That I know how difficult I am to be around.
And if someone is willing to stay with me despite all that I'll treasure them 'till the day I die."

Harribel looks deep into your eyes and gives you a kiss.
Apacci meanwhile is pointing at her throat while making gagging noises.

When your lips part Harribel speaks.
"Shall we go?"

You then embrace her and speak up.
"They can wait a minute."

How about "I have seen the sun risen a lot of times too, but is still beautiful."

Could also be "but staring at it still hurts my eyes."

When you arrive at the location everybody can be seen waiting for you.
Nnoitora is looking at you.
"You two took your sweet time."

"Apologies.
One of my associates had an accident and I had to attend."
You speak to everyone, especially Aizen who is sitting at the head of the table as always.

"It's alright Kaizar.
Please, take a seat.
We have important things to discuss."

The two of you take a seat next to each other, so you'll have to be extra careful not to reveal anything.
Being seated by your number is problematic.

Aizen stands up and begins his usual speech.
"My dear Espada.
It feels like it's been forever since the last time I was here.
Please, be so kind and report your progress to me."

Now this process is usually handled by Aaroniero who has a pretty good memory.
But if you leave him to his own devices he might reveal things you'd rather not.

>Let Aaroniero do the report.
>Take the initiative.

Eh, it might seem suspicious, but I think we can play it off pretty well.

>Take the initiative.

>>Take the initiative.

Do we still have the folder for military reform?

Considering said method was hinted at to be a result of our grandkid, I'mma say that's fucking stupid

Oh fuck, that's right.
Marr was the one who was supposed to be dealing with that fucker, wasn't he?
He was also one of the only ones who was immune to aging, I think.

We don't have to reveal is our grandkid we can say is a derivative of our nanohollows and since it has been decades he might believe it.

I'm a different user than the one who said it was stupid, but I too think that it's a bad idea.

speaking of aging, considering how kaizar gets a new improved body every 4 or so days... what would barrigans power do to kaizar?

THE GAINS CANNOT BE CONTAINED.
EVACUATE THE BUILDING.

Cancer due to not having enough nutriens.

uh how does a lack of nutrients result in cancer? iirc cancer cells usually require more energy on average then regular cells due to their aggressive growth rate.

It's impossible for kaizar to get cancer.
His einherjar eliminate any malfunctioning cells, even themselves.

Then we just starve as we are not eating enough to afford the fast changes.

>Writing

There'd probably be a butter zone between the point where Kaizar's reiryoku can still support the rapid evolution of his body and where the demand starts drawing too much from his reserves and his condition begins to deteriorate.

You don't have anything against Aaroniero but you can't allow him to reveal everything in detail.
As you stand up all eyes are on you and you can hear Neliel whispering something.
"What are you doing?"

After clearing your throat you begin speaking.
"Since the last time you were here Lord Aizen we were hard at work.
We had two main goals, to increase our numbers and to improve the combat power of our forces.
Though we successfully increased the number of Adjuchas class menos and Arrancars we couldn't increase our efficiency.
At the moment our numbers are above 1500 this includes anything from common hollows to arrancars with the exception of any Vasto Lorde."

"I see.
That's indeed a formidable fighting force."
Ichimaru speaks up.

"I'm afraid not Sir.
Most of these hollows either have very low power or have abilities that are not suitable for combat."

"That's hard to believe since Hollows are natural killing machines.
Wouldn't you agree Captain Aizen?"
Kaname interjects.

"While that assumption is correct the fact remains.
Most hollows are born with ability which allows them to survive in harsh environments.
That focus means that they might be capable but their powers are unusable in large crowds.
Any hollow with poison based abilities must not be taken into consideration as in an all out war such things would pose a threat even to our forces.
And after careful screenings it's regrettable but only about a third of our population is in possession of abilities suited for large scale fights."

Aizen takes a more relaxed position and supports his chin with one of his hands.
"So what are you suggesting Kaizar?
You want me to give up two thirds of my army just because they are uncomfortable to fight with?"

Exactly!
Our healing is not unlimited! If we run out of juice we fugged

I see Kaizar's point here: it's difficult to think of such a force as an "army", at least in the sense most shinigami would mean. Only one third of your military force being treated as infantry wouldn't be that unusual in a more modern doctrine: the difficulty would be adapting examples from modern combat doctrine to the unique case of super-powered ghosts.

Sending out two thirds of all hollows that are well suited for group combat is far more efficient than sending out every hollow but having more than half of them die due to their own allies abilities

We can still organize them into packs to hunt Shinigami in the living world, though that risks quincy intervention due to likely collateral damage

"Not at all my lord, in fact I advice you to create different divisions in the army.
Each division would have specific tasks that they'd fulfill in a combat situation should the need arise for them.
I recommend we create groups such as: Melee, Fire support, Recon, Infiltration, Sabotage and Bio-weapon.
These are the main categories we managed to come up with.
Of course it's not perfect but that's the best we could do with such wide variety of abilities."

"And you say we only use each group when they are needed?"

"Yes My Lord!"

Aizen is pondering something.
"Perhaps organizing the army would be beneficial.
But who would do it? The strongest aspect of you hollows is that you don't need any sort of formal training to be formidable.
And such a thing would take a lot of time."
But just as he finishes something gets his attention.
"Hmmm?"

You look over to your side and see Neliel raising her hand.
"I'm willing to do it."

"Interesting.
Tell me, Neliel.
Why should it be you of all people?"

"It's easy Master Aizen.
We need someone for this task and I'm willing."

Aizen smiles.
"Anyone else?"

You look around and see that nobody is willing.
Either they lack the expertise or the courage to take this task.

We ave proven to be a commander in life and a leader in death. Now if we can jut prove that we're loyal enough for us to not be a threat...

And do you tink Aizen won't be suspicious that all power is focused in one hand?

that's the issue, any ideas on how to convince him? maybe ave kaname as a watchguard on our operations?

>Other? (write-in)
"I'd be glad to offer advice, as a former military man. But Nel has a genuine drive to do it, and I don't. That will make a difference."

>Yes
>We are formerly trained for this.

I dunno sleepy. We're the only person here besides *posssibly* Yata with any real, actual experience forming and training an army. If we do it, we can make them more loyal to us, but training someone wrong is worse than no training at all, really.

...no? Because from his perspective, we're just training troops? ANd we work for him? He considers us to be more like Marr than anything else, imo.

For all Aizens plots and schemes, he relies really, really heavily on gimmicks and charisma to keep people in line.

Supporting.

This sounds like the best idea.
Nudging things in a direction we want while not being absorbed by organizing an army

The reason I said that was so we can still go do our thing but can help Nel out with idiots. Hell if she constantly asks for it we can just become the DI.

supporting this

I look at it another way, really.
What else are we doing?
Literally anything of note can be handled as socail actions. That's it.
Hanging with Harribel? We can do that whenever.
Babysitting our grandkid? Same as the last one, we can do that literally all the time.
Training with Nnoitra? Again, that's the kind of shit we can do in our offtime.

Here's the thing we seem to be forgetting: We have literally nothing better to do that takes up loads of time. Social links can be handled in our offtime. We have literally no real goals currently beyond "Spend time with friends".

And what kind of things would we do? We've been doing little but training for the last couple of decades. Only issue i see with becoming a army leader is we cant go look for starrk, but that's meta-ing.
