Infinity General: We say Ass too much edition

Infinity is a 28mm scale futuristic skirmish game by Corvus Belli where guys who live in spaceships have lots of flamethrowers.

Can people see the files in this? It should contain all the HQ infinity dossiars along with a few LQ ones

Oh man I hope these two make the manga. Thrasamedes seems so done with her shit.

Any AD is bad at less than 200, and 2 is insane.

Anyone else going to Interplanetary?

Not this year. Couple of friends are going.

Most of the Tactica does not show up for me when I'm logged out.

>dat ARM5

Man Alanta looks so cute in this, she has the looks of a top tier waifu, but is sadly sorta a bitch

You sound like someone in dire need of a Speculo Killer. For the low price of your allegiance and all your human military secrets, you could have the looks of Atlanta replicated and worn by a Shasvastii specially trained to have a superior personality! Your top tier waifu is within your reach, my dear friend.

Anyone have an HQ version of this? I also need Bagh-Mari if you have the dossier of them as well.

Feel free to rewrite it then. That's the point of a wiki.

Oh god the mental image

Removing or adding a space in the Category tag seems to fix this.
It should work now.

...

Writing Imperial Service tactica now.

Nice job!

So, I just found out about this game, lovely minis, but is there any fluff available online, or do I have to spend however much the rulebook is before I decide if it's worth my time? (Lore/fluff is very important to me when choosing games/factions etc)

Most fluff is in the books. There are however unit descriptions in the catalogue, some of them with a lot of lore (eg. Corregidor Bandit).

Alright, I'm assuming you mean their digital store? I'll have a look around, a bit disappointing, but nevertheless, if that's how they choose to do their business that's up to them.

Did you have any fluff questions?

This is a decent summary.

1d4chan.org/wiki/Infinity_(wargame)#Fluff

Not anything specific, just want a feel for the world/characters/units/encounters.

Thanks anyway, will check that link out!

To be fair, the entire ASS process is designed to produce passionate extremes.

>Writing "Tactics" without having ever played the faction.
This is terrible and you guys need to stop.

Someone has to do the first step.
By admitting I know shit-all about what I'm writing, I'm inviting people who do know how to play the faction to correct me.

It's shitposty bait to get actual players to get off their asses and correct them.

I actually play Haqqislam, QK, SP, and NCA(thought I didnt write the NCA page) the most. My ALEPH and ISS experience is limited, but it's a start and I welcome anyone with more experience to help out.

That is fucking retarded.

No one writes Tactica because it's super variable on your personal metas, hell even table layout and terrain density is important for tactical consideration you triple niggers.

It doesn't change the fact that "take what you want" is a big fat lie and that some units go with each other better than with others.
It always changes, down to the die rolls. So what? It's still good to know how a mixed Magister Knight link is different from a full Hospitaller + Joan one. That doesn't change that much. Stop making excuses for laziness.

I cant tell you how many times a person in my flgs (and occassionally here) can't tell what's good and why - especially people coming from a 40k and warmahordes background. I dont write my pages based on specific metas and table setups; more on why some things are good, and how they could be used

It's truer than most. I still think anything has value as long as you know what you're doing.

>I still think anything has value as long as you know what you're doing
AVA 5 on Hellcats or Desperadoes is a trap though. New players don't know that and then whine when their STEEL REHN or biker gangs lists get rekt.

That is arguments for/against list types, gimmick lists. I'm talking about general and individual unit viablity.

Okay: how would you justify taking Guarda de Assalto instead of an ORC in ASA?
Statline difference is BS 15 WIP 13 ARM 3 vs BS 14 WIP 12 and ARM 4.
AssGuard runs around with a Heavy Flamethrower, D-Charges and can take a MUTLI Rifle or Spitfire. ORC can take an HMG, which has longer range and more damage. With D-Charges Guarda can take a classified. With Hacker profile ORC can take regular objectives.
The big difference is the 6 pts Auxbot, armed with a Light Shotgun and an Eclipse Grenade Launcher. Eclipse grenades are always some smoke, although 50pts total for a smoke chucker is a bit much.
At 300 pts ORC can get a buddy himself and instead of a little bot it's a second or even a third ORC. That's quite a lot of BS 14 dakka. Not to mention additional orders.
I think I'd always choose ORC over Guarda de Assalto; aside from looks maybe, because Guarda looks baller and is one of the few Auxbot units I like the look of. But ORC just seems more reasonable.

>He doesn't max out Desperados and Mavericks.

Boy, am I glad the next USARF release is Mavericks and not something stupid like Minutemen or Marauders!

Did you rike it?

The GdA's way better armed, spitfires are great universal weapons, auxbot shotgun isn't something to laugh at, eclipse smoke covers his and the army's advance... etc.

He's a substantially better rambo unit than the ORC.

The ORCs have no mid range weapon like the Spitfire. Not only that the GDA's Auxbot help him in close quarters. Eclipse to cover his and the army's movement. He's a better aggressive unit than the ORC for having better offensive utility. ORC offers Haris and longer range with less tools.

Both are good for different reasons

I have been so terrible with actually getting into the game. I've got the aleph starter, hector, anniversary achilles and the doctor engineer thingy reinforcement pack for aleph, the PanO half of O:I, the USAriadna starter and all the limited editions since paradiso. Combine that with the Yu Jing half of red veil once it arrives.

I really have no idea where to go from here, are any of the forces more newbie friendly to expand on? We played the O:I missions but beyond that it's literally a flick through the rules level of knowledge. Help me Veeky Forums you're my only hope!

Check mah list.

Find your opinions, and give them to me.

You've got way more than enough to start playing dude.
Just start with your ALEPH, if you mean vanilla starter then build a list using everything aside from Achilles or Hector (or use Achilles instead of Asura), try to fit this into 200pts in army builder and play some Annihilation/Quadrant Control/Decapitation type of games to get a good grasp of the rules.
Since you've got only half of Icestorm I assume you have a Nomad buddy in the area. Play with him.

Just pick an army an just go with it. As for where to go after Op:IS/RV, download the full rules PDF and play a small 200pt game to get used to some of those rules. If you already know them, then download the ITS missions PDF from the main page and play some of the missions - specifically Direct Action missions like: The Armory (if you have the 8x8 objective room), Supremacy, Quadrant Control, Annihilation. You'll also need the Classified Objective deck. It would really help if you can get help from a local veteran player.

You're not playing for ITS, right? If so, then you have a severe lack of Specialists. Also the Second Combat Group Garudas are fucked for orders. Stick one of them in the main group since there's only 9 in it. Also remember that Netrods cannot switch combat groups. I high recommend another Naga, Posthuman Proxies, and some Rebots too

Every meta is different for every game ever. From MTG to Warhammer, but having a solid basis to referance to for new players is good.

Or hell for vet players to look at if they want a new faction for tips and tricks they have not thought of or do not know about.

>MTG
>Warhams
>Flavour of the month to win.
>"Depends on the meta"
Sit down retard.

Yea everything may be flavor of the month in a lot of ways, but there is always different ways to achieve said flavor of the month.

Hell Infinity can be slightly accused of that as well. How many people will buy that new O-12 starter pack and try to run them? How about the USAridna? How many people flocked to it because it was new and exciting?

That has nothing to do with anything you sperg.

Hams and MTG have static metas that only change when new broken shit is released. It doesn't matter what the other guy brings because you bought the new Knights which auto win.
Which makes it flavour of the month.

Infinity releases shit but it's still garbage; see most TAGs. But it depends more on the meta if it's a good option making those tactical run downs pretty much useless.
They only good Tactical Infinity articles are the ones talking about what units might be good and which might be bad but even that depends on meta.

Anyone know if Jaguars are supposed to be MS13 or 18th street gang? Trying to figure out tattoos atm.

Latin Kings, ese.
Just whatever looks tough.

I don't know shit about this wargame and aren't really interested in playing it, but the bare bones of the setting seems really cool from what little I could read about it, and the artwork is very Masamune Shirow which tickles my fancy.

I'd probably play an RPG of it if the rules didn't stick at least.

You sure? I saw they were called Maras, so I though it'd be ms13(maras salvatruchas) or 18th street(maras-18).

>I'd probably play an RPG of it
You're in luck, one is in the works.

This doc has all the individual unit fluff from the old website.

docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/116M600ywaWJdYXm2UQAlt2ytcDo83q0Q-69PKYsG-rI/

Does it look any good?
And does "in the works" mean "I'm only going to have the full playable experience in three to four years when finally all the sourcebooks come out"?
Because most RPG settings do that bullshit it seems like to me.

Supposedly they're missing a lot of equipment costs, abstracting that away, and keeping some parts of the game a little too simple. Haven't taken a close look at it myself, but those seem to be frequent mentions.

Progress has also been going slowly. Corvus Belli is meticulous about whatever lore goes into the book, and the studio making it (Modiphius) has some other more popular RPG's with bigger brand names also in development.

DESU I'm just invested for the faction and TAG book fluff and numbers.

It's converted Mutant Chronicles 3rd edition. It uses a 2d20 system and looks interesting. They semi-regularly post previews, although a while ago I stopped reading them and I'm waiting for the full book to come out. But it looks promising and the lore is more dryly, comprehensively written than in regular books (which employs an in-world bunch of articles style).
I took the dip on their kickstarter for book in PDF and Nomad expansion, so I'm eager.

IIRC correctly angel specifically used photos of the ms13 when painting

>Supposedly they're missing a lot of equipment costs
V8 character sheets and cost tables were released a couple weeks ago.

>abstracting that away, and keeping some parts of the game a little too simple

It's actually been a reasonable conversion so far. Most weapons are represented, along with nades, equipment (ODD, MSV, XV, etc), and there's even all the ammo types and tinbots (Koalas, etc) and everything. It doesn't look like they have ammo types for melee yet, but then I assume they will just reuse the stats/rules for the ranged ammo currently available.

Good to know.

I don't know what a TAG is but I'm guessing it's a mech-suit based on the genre and all-caps acronym.
Hrm...never much cared for the 2d20 system. Shame that.

>the lore is more dryly, comprehensively written than in regular books (which employs an in-world bunch of articles style).

One of the biggest gripes I have about Infinity desu. I'd like to know more about every unit without having to decipher badly translated, badly formatted bullshit that very rarely tells me clearly where they come from, how they evolved, what they do, and where in the overall military force they belong.

40k is known to be often written with a limited or biased perspective, or at least implying such. Infinity takes it to absurdly greater levels.

Tactical Armored Gears, the next-best thing to catgirls in Infinity.

Was cool to have the oath Xeodrons swear when they're "born" but I'd like to know why they were made.

But I do enjoy the outside approach to a lot of CA and Tohaa fluff. Just not for specifics like units.

>I do enjoy the outside approach to a lot of CA and Tohaa fluff.

I like those too. I think we can agree, though, that the article/report excerpt and personal/ally perspective stuff would be great in addition to concrete objective information as a lead in, as opposed to being the only information available.

You could just say "yes, it's mecha".
And tell me of cat girls. Is that like an alien thing, because the aliens look a bit odder then that.

Nomads, user.

And there's totally a distinction between large power armor / battlesuits and mecha. I mean, come on.

Less mecha, more GITS:SAC armsuits, for the most part.

Topless catgirls.

But that's a foxgirl.

The Xeodron fluff blurb was really cool, but it didn't tell us shit. And that stuff tends to be hit or miss anyway, the Samaritan fluff was laughable.

Mini mecha. Infinity isn't quite soft enough for big mechs to be viable, so TAGs don't get much taller than twice the size of a man.

Not aliens, just degenerates who like grafting animal bits onto themselves so they can feel pre.

so where the fuck are the ears on the actual new model? I don't own one but I never see them in pictures.

I just have the mega-troll original.

*feel pretty
Smartphones should be fucking burned.

Greenstuff. Newer Dak begs for ears and a tail.

I really like the in universe fluff of Infinity, its really immersive.

Maybe if your only exposure to writing is japanese comics and little girl cartoons, but it's pretty widely accepted that it's shit.
This wouldn't be a issue except people say you should pay for the amazing fluff. Which is like paying someone to hand you a hot bag of steaming dog shit and thanking them for it.

The fluff is interesting in some places, generic in others. It is pretty average to be honest, not complete shit but average

>hyperbolic blah blah blah
No, generally it's positively accepted; not glowing, it's just alright. You may not enjoy it, but doesnt mean everyone thinks it's shit

It's alright. Maybe above average for me. Mostly because I like the fluff for my favorite factions, and dont care for the factions I dont play. I also dig the Dire Foes stories, since they offer a bit more of the universe.

Scratch past the surface, and even the more 'reasonable' aspects of it has more logic holes then a certain type of cheese (or pan0 unit).

Present examples, they add a lot to a debate

You could always just not pay for it?

I like the art and fluff, so rulebooks are totally worth it for me.

It's akways good to have one more d-charge in a list if you get a sabotage.

Gets this thorugh your head CB unlike GWS doesn't treat it's customers like shit. bEucae of this welcome change of pace and because overall it's a small company people are reluctant to give you scans. In short if you want fluff/art from the rules books pay for it you kikish little brat.

So, its revealed that "the fluff is shit" cunt is in fact a worthless second tier faction fag.

You arent fooling anybody. Much less the Hyperpower.

And it's more to the fact that there isn't terrible amount of choise in ASA (or even PanO in general). Machinist (fragile) and BS Bagh Mari (slow).

>Being this triggered.
That's actually a different poster.

>f you want fluff/art from the rules books pay for it
I don't want the fluff though, because* it's garbage.
Why would I pay for the fluff if it's literally garbage?

Tactical Armored Gear/TAG is meant to be a heavy duty exoskeleton with heavy ordinance that inspired by Appleseed Land-Mates, thats why you see a pair of mini arm in the piloted one, that is an armored hand manipulator.

And yes, it is mechas, just like tanks, airplanes, power armors, etc.

>Maybe if your only exposure to writing is japanese comics and little girl cartoons, but it's pretty widely accepted that it's shit.

I assume you never read the fluff itself and being exposed to 40k "ok just slap 2000AD memes on it and give it more skulls for Oshii level DEEEEEEEP" to much or just regular 40kids trolling attemp, but thats okay.

I think at this point, the fluff is kinda feels like shadowrun with appleseed, GitS and covenant stuffed inside. Which is for me is kinda fun.

They're assault units. The Auxbot isn't a disposable ARO platform like the flamer bots, it's intended to be the Assguard's constant companion and it provides massive utility. The team is designed to drop 0V smoke, run to the midfield and fuck shit up with a BS15 spitfire. That smoke can also be utilized by specialists who feel like not getting shot, and even cockblocks MSV so you can get into optimal range for dealing with snipers.

It's not 50 points for a smoke platform, it's 50 points for a smoke platform and a versatile HI that can capitalize on that smoke very effectively.

>Why would I pay for the fluff if it's literally garbage?

Because (You)'re a pretentious poorfag that just throwing baits hoping for "GRRRR ARIGHT HERE'S THE SCAN" kind of reply. Or just new summer /b/ trying to take few free credit with lame ass memes.

But oops, sorry, won't work mr. taxwaster. Shooo, back on stacking 2000AD:tabletop edition scans more.

Population figures as suggested by the RPG previews seems way too high, especially if RL templates are taken into account.

Society is a magical 'middle class paradise' with not much work done ala all siesta all day.

O-12 even existing when the superpowers in the Cold War weren't dumb enough to give power to the UN.

Et al.

So sort of like the actual Atlanta from mythology?

The population figures in the RPG are probably at about 50 billion humans at most in the entire human sphere, it is more likely that there are 20-35 billion. You are takeing the most populated planets and saying it is accross the Human sphere, when for example Cuccillium is not even 100 million, and it is the capitial of the O-12.

Hell if every planet in Infiinty had 3 billion people on it, we are looking at a human population of 32 billion, in a world with artifical womb tech.

Being capable of supporting X billions is one thing, actually having all those billions is another when most developed nations (which the major factions presumably fall under) generally have a decreasing birth rate anyway. Maternal/child health is hardly an issue regardless, especially when cost of living isn't going to magically drop down anyway.

>Comparing futuristic society where everything is automated, with today modern (i.e. manual) society.

>Thinking population figures of 12 planets with advanced tech and space colonies are comparable then population of singgle floating rock.

>Thinking O-12 ever held of any real power over the setting superpowers.

>Thinking O-12 have any difference than UN in term of relevancy.

HOLY MOTHER OF KEK
Atleast put some real effort on your brain, m8

>>Thinking O-12 have any difference than UN in term of relevancy.
Isn't ALEPH technically the O-12 faction? It mostly follows its own agenda, but I wouldn't consider that exactly powerless.

You need to take your meds my man.

Why do you assume that the birthrate is going to fall still? especially when there are still third world countries emigrating into the other factions.

And again the population is probably less than 32 billion people as it stands, because that number is only if there are 3 billion people per planet, which probably wont have that many on a lot of the planets. So looking at a population number wise a lot lower than my initial estimates.

>Population figures
In some cases (especially Ariadna) this is true. Mostly I don't see the problem though.

>Society is a magical 'middle class paradise'
Not everywhere. But in the places where that's the case, it's because everything in society is heavily mechanized, the economy is prospering and somewhere a helot/Jap/Atek/slave is being exploited. It's the same shit as now, just more advanced and managed better.

O-12 isn't particularly powerful and can only punish a superpower for stepping out of line if it can convince a different superpower to work with it, but it's FAR more relevant than the UN. I don't think you realize just how shit the UN really is. It barely even functions as a place for countries to argue, while O-12 is powerful enough to have its own military and secret service.

>. It barely even functions as a place for countries to argue,
Not exactly/

Actually population numbers are common prooblem of pop-sci-fi (or space opera).

Considering a lot of the fluff is somewhat based on RL references, why wouldn't some RL limitations apply?

Also, if everything is automated/AI'ed, what exactly are all those wageslaves supposed to do to not starve?

And assuming all/most of those 12ish systems end up like 40k hiveworlds sounds...off.

Lastly, despite being 'broke' and corrupt as all hell, O-12 can still somehow dick around with the main superpowers.

Pretty much Acontecimento has a pop of like 3.5 billion, which user assumes is the average for all the other planets,

It wont be, Acontecimento is one of the most populated planets by being home to the majority of the middle class for PanO. so the other worlds need to have a significantly lesser population, Baruk for instance has a billion, which is probably the average for the majority of the planets, but then in turn we have Concillium which does not even have 100 million, and it is home of O-12 and is effectivly the capital of the human sphere
