Looks like Piccolo wasn't paying attention to the match. He's clearly quite confident that he will win the coming battle, regardless of whom he is up against. Every bit as arrogant as his previous incarnation, it seems.

Well then, Goku should be able to handle him well enough.

Dropping down from the sky, you land in front of Goku and Krillin, giving them both a grin and telling them what a great match it was.

"Thanks," Krillin says. "It's just too bad I didn't get a chance to fight you, too."

"There's always next time," you tell him.

He nods. "Right, so you'd better be ready for me."

"Well, looks like we're both going to have some pretty tough matches next," Goku tells you. "Tao's way stronger than he was the last time we saw him."

That's an understatement. Tenshinhan's strength at the last tournament was much greater than Tao's had been the last time you saw him. Now, despite clearly spending the last three years training hard, Tenshinhan was utterly outclassed by the cyborg assassin.

Tao was quite brutal in their match as well. You know that he said he won't kill you in the ring, but he doesn't exactly strike you as someone you can trust. You should be very careful when you face him.

"I know," he replies. "I'm just saying be careful."

Goku gives a confident smile."Right."

The three of you head into the contest hall, not making it far before you hear a woman's voice call out.

"Krillin!"

Your friend freezes, letting out a nervous gulp as Chichi storms over to him, a fierce expression on her face. Goku gives them some room, and, thinking that's a wise idea, you do the same, stepping away from the couple.

Chichi and Krillin stare at one another, Krillin looking petrified while Chichi continues to glare down at him.

Then, she smiles, leaning down and giving him a kiss on the cheek, giggling at his confused expression.

"You were great," she tells him.

Krillin smiles, rubbing the back of his head. "Thanks. So were you."

"Yeah, right," Chichi says, understanding now how outclassed she was. "I barely put up a fight. But you were amazing."

"Hehe, well, thanks," Krillin tells her.

"So, we're out of the tournament," Chichi reminds him, not sounding very upset about that.

"Yeah, I guess we are," Krillin tells her, his mood coming down a bit.

"So..." Chichi says, grabbing Krillin's hands. "Are we getting married, or what?"

Krillin's face turns bright red. "H-hey, wait a minute, I thought I was supposed to ask you that!"

"Too late," Chichi tells him with a playful smirk. "I took care of that part, so all you have to do is answer."

Krillin blinks, stares up at her, and smiles. "Yeah, let's get married."

Chichi makes a high-pitched, happy noise, and throws her arms around Krillin, hugging him tight before giving him a big kiss.

Goku watches all of this in confusion, but you give the newly engaged couple a warm smile.

Chichi rises back up, grinning at Krillin as she nearly jumps out of her skin with excitement.

Krillin turns toward you, looking happier than you think you've ever seen him in the years you've known him. He may have lost the match, but as far as he's concerned, he's still the winner today.

"Thanks, buddy," Krillin tells you, the joy in his voice pretty much contagious, causing the smile on your face to grow even wider.

Chichi is absolutely on cloud nine, and laughs happily, running over to you and throwing her arms around you, hugging you tight.

"Thank you," she says as she pulls back.

"For what?" you ask.

"For introducing me to Krillin when we were kids," she tells you. "He's such a wonderful man, and I might have never known him if it weren't for you."

"Seriously, thank you, Tofoo," Krillin tells you. "You'll still be my best man, right?"

"Of course," you answer. "Why don't you two go tell the others about your engagement?"

"That's a great idea," Krillin tells you, taking Chichi's hand.

The two of them turn and run out of the contest hall, leaving you with Goku.

"Tofoo, what's getting married mean?" Goku asks.

You fall over.

Y'all need to loosen up and enjoy the gag options for maximum effect.

The two of you follow Krillin and Chichi, leaving the contest hall, and your worries behind for a bit, as you reunite with the rest of your friends and share in the happiness of Krillin and Chichi.

Of course, the others are quite happy for the two of them, just like you were, and everyone's moods are made much happier by this development.

Chichi can't contain her excitement, and holds onto Krillin as she goes on about the future they'll have together.

"It'll be wonderful," she promises Krillin. "A nice home, lots of kids-"

"How many were you thinking?" Krillin asks nervously.

"Oh, not too many," she tells him with a smile. "Just eight or nine."

Oh, God.

That's about the reaction the others seem to have; especially the girls. You're guessing the idea of having that many kids does not appeal to any of them.

Even Krillin seems a little shocked by that number, but he just laughs nervously, and Chichi doesn't seem to notice the staring.

"Oh, just wait until you see the house my father's building for us!" Chichi goes on excitedly. "Oh, it was supposed to be a surprise. Oh well, it's wonderful, you'll love it!"

"Congratulations," Puar tells them happily.

You're surprised to see Yamcha giving them a big smile too, despite not knowing either of them particularly well. Their happiness really is contagious.

For a good while, everyone stays together, having pleasant conversation mostly related to Krillin and Chichi's upcoming marriage. While most of the group's involved in the conversation (or in Oolong's case, making some jokes about it), Lapis, Lazuli, Launch, and Yamcha mostly seem uninterested in the topic. They seem happy for the two, but don't seem to care much about the conversation.

You realize that someone's missing, and ask if anyone's seen Tenshinhan.

"He went to the hospital to check on Chaozu," Yamcha explains.

"He should have been there as a patient," a bitter, familiar voice comments.

You turn to find yourself staring at an elderly man with a crane-hat on his head.

Shen, the Crane Hermit.

"He was no match for my brother, Tao," he tells you. "And you won't be, either. He's going to tear you apart in the ring and win this ridiculous little tournament, then he's going to end your life."

"How could you let him do that to Tenshinhan and Chaozu?" Yamcha demands angrily, stepping toward his former master.

"I believe I've always made it clear what happens to traitors," Crane Hermit tells him. "Speaking of which, if I were you, I'd get out of town while I still could. I haven't forgotten your treachery, and Tao won't allow it to go unpunished."

"Bring him on!" Yamcha challenges. "I'm not afraid!"

Shen chuckles. "No, you're a fool."

"Head's up!" a voice shouts from above.

Looking up, you see Tenshinhan and Chaozu drop down from the sky, landing beside you and facing the Crane Hermit, who fixes on them with a frown.

"Master Shen," Tenshinhan greets.

"Tenshinhan," Shen replies before looking at Chaozu. "And what are you doing out of the hospital? You should have been in there for weeks after what Tao did to you."

"That's none of your concern," Tenshinhan tells him bitterly. "And how dare you have him do that to Chaozu?"

"None of you idiots seem to understand the penalty for treason," Shen says with irritation. "But you'll learn. Tofoo will be defeated, then Tao will hunt every last one of you down and kill you."

"We aren't afraid!" Chaozu tells him.

"That's a first," Shen mocks, looking down at the tiny man. "Considering you've always been a coward, Chaozu. Tao told me all about how you didn't raise a finger during your fight in the preliminaries, that you were too scared stiff to defend yourself."

Chaozu looks down in shame, while both Tenshinhan and Yamcha grow angrier.

"You fools can talk as big as you like, but we all know the truth; none of you can stand up to Tao, and you will all die," Shen tells them all. "So enjoy your last few hours of life while you can."

With that, he turns and starts to walk away.

"After I'm done with Tao," you growl. "I'm taking his stupid hat."

Master Roshi chuckles.

"Tofoo, your time's almost up," Bulma says, looking at her watch as she comes to stand beside you. "You should probably get back to the contest hall."

"You didn't run," he observes. "Not a healthy decision. I would have thought that what I did to Tenshinhan would have told you how this will go for you."

The two of you step into the ring, taking your places at opposite sides as the crowd roars with applause, and the announcer takes his space.

"Both of these fighters achieved extraordinary victories in the quarterfinals!" the announcer tells the crowd. "Each of them also destroyed the ring in the process, so we respectfully ask them not to do that again."

There's some laughter from the audience, but you and Tao pay it no heed, focused only on one another.

"I'm not going to kill you in this match," Tao says, dropping into a fighting stance. "But I promise to cause you a great deal of pain."

"Fighters, ready?" the announcer asks.
