GW's ability to tell stories, advance a plot, or fix a mistake, is akin to that of a 6 yearold with a blow up hammer and some pudding.

Bolter Bitches, squats, Britos, Tomb Kings, Black Templars, Guardsmen to some degree, Tau until recently, Daemons, Battle Fleet Gothic, the list goes on ya know.

None of the armies that got models in fantasy 8th ED were removed.

Every army at this point is going to get squated, sure you don't get updated, sure they don't remove you, but you become so irreverent that no one plays you, it's like playing Germany in any sort of game ever that has a dev biased towards it.

No matter what, you might not get squated out but you will become like all the rest, irreverent and unable to stand up to updated armies.

The Deathwatch kicked Eldrad's teeth in before he could finish the ritual.
I mean all the Eldar present on that moon are dead (except Eldrad of course) but the rest are probably fine.
Plus the Exodites, Dark Eldar, and Harlequins aren't even hooked up to the Infinity Circuits.

The Ogres/Ogors and Dryads/Wood Elves things got Battletomes and they are one of the best armies in the game.

Problem is, you get models in a recent addition but you don't get updates fast enough to save a player base on said army.

To be fair knowing the Eldar they probably would have taken a couple centuries meaninglessly bickering over the subject, and each one using their own farseers visions to screw with each other.

Summoning Ynnead into the world requires all Eldar to die.

After Illic told Eldrad about a moon made from psychic crystal, Eldrad formulated a plan to channel the Eldar souls from ALL craftworlds into the moon that will create a beacon that will awaken Ynnead sooner without the need for all the Eldar to die.

If the ritual succeeds, then all Eldar dead souls will merge to create Ynnead. All Craftworlds and Eldar fleets will be crippled and the Imperium will reel from the psychic explosion that will kill tons of psykers and blind countless navigators.

The Deathwatch stopped the ritual from fully completing. Ynnead awakened for a bit but her mind scattered and broke apart, returning to nothing. Only one fragment of her remained and it escaped into space.

What happened to the Craftworlds and Eldar souls in the aftermath is unknown and is wildly speculated about here.

You can have all the big named dudes present for the final war for Cadia, yet still leave the ending open enough for it to be possible for anyone to get a win out of it.

5th really, the 6E Eldar codex just made it even more blatant by removing all the stuff from the previous (4th edition) version about his death.

40k 8ed will be the equivalent of Warhammer fantasy end times if they only made the first 4 books, stopped there and kept that the status quo for now. Everything gets way worse, major changes are made, some characters are killed off, but they won't play it all the way to the conclusion

Going from a reactionary playerbase perspective? Sure, 40k End Times may very well feel like a thing.

GW does make some idiotic decisions from time to time from a business viewpoint (like the fact that for a time they thought videogames were direct competetion for some reason instead of easy marketing). But they aren't suicidal.

Seriously, as dumb as GW can act I honestly don't see how anyone would think they would risk a reset of 40k when there isn't any reason for it. As much as people whine about it potentially dropping like Fantasy did the actual financials says otherwise.

I feel like ynnead will still be there, but as a Daemon primarch or laughing God level deity and not something that could actually BTFO slaanesh. The craft world eldar aren't being squatted but I can see the story moving to the point where they get desperate enough to have to join the dark eldar. Who will also suffer a major blow when Khaines gate finally breaks open and they have to flee from commoragh
