The future of the MTG Community

m.youtube.com/watch?v=ckSuMgU2oc4

Over the last year, I have seen more and more videos and articles like this. What bothers me is that mtg players are agreeing with this shit and we are fast approaching a slippery slope. I am all for treating some one with respect, but I feel that this stuff is getting to out of hand. Will this lead to the end of the mtg community?

What's the video

Watched it. Its some gendering bullshit for anyone that can't be bothered to watch it. Some guy preaching about equality. Its not gonna end the MTG community, its just annoying. Agreed, equality should be in place, but the large majority of people who play magic are men. If you were talking about a soldier someone would assume they are male, which may be incorrect but is just how society has formed.

None of this would be an issue if you just let phyrexia win.

It should be it, because i never considered my opponent as humans. They're assholes.

>Implying I want to be part of the """Community"""
The guy might as well kill himself, I'm here to play magic and kick my opponent ass, not to care that he's omnigender neutrosexual manateekin with pronoun Le/la/les. If the person in front of me think we can bond because we both play magic he can shove his deck in his ass.

OP here, I just want to play mtg and not deal with all the sjw stuff I see in the news and in vedio games. I am just worried about my fellow mtg players, I don't want them to be brainwashed by this shit so that turn into cucks.

>One side
MUH STRAIGHT WHITE CIS BOOGIEMAN
>Other side
MUH TUMBLR SJW BOOGIEPERSON

Enjoy being played against each other so you don't develop a class identity.

NORNIES GET OUT!
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

>Magic players
>class identity
You're an even bigger retard than the two group you mentioned.

I wasn't just talking about Magic players, you fucking nob. It's fucking everywhere in our society. These false divisions created or fostered to keep the lower classes arguing amongst themselves and not paying attention to who's really ruining shit.

Then just play mtg and tell people that try to rope you in their political shit to fuck off.

And care to tell me about the elite we should lynch? Are they the Jew? the Multibillionaire? The Illuminaty? The Govenment? The little Royalty that's left?

Lynching seems a bit strong. I'd start by reminding everyone in congress that they work for the people and not lobbyists. Create and then actually enforce corporate regulations and eliminate tax shelter loopholes.

>they work for the people
They work for the party that had them elected, "the people" is a joke in representative democracy.

The 1% issue wasn't the working class, it was the social benefit one, the useful idiots that noticed they were manipulated only after the fact. Is it such a surprise that they got manipulated into ruining themselves again?

>"the people" is a joke in representative democracy.

Oh, well, then if that's the way it is, why bother to change it.

The better question would be "If representative democracy doesn't do what I want it to do, which type of government would"

I mean, you're wrong. The majority of magic players are male, but not the "large" majority. I want to say last they checked, nearly 40% of the player base was female.

That's the exact opposite of true. You can thank Gramscian socialists for this mess.

>Hey guys there's no revolutionary class. Let's just make one lol
>"How?"
>Oh we'll just foster social conflict and tell some groups they're underprivileged until they crash this state with no survivors lol
>"Wow neat let's do it!"

The one where edgy morons are shot dead on spot. Societal quality would improve by double digit percentage value.

RIP anonymous

this video is objectively right. the last 2 points are v important and highlighted in this thread

I wonder if the growing percentage of "female gamers" are more women in the hobby or just trannies coming out of the closet.

>nearly 40% of the player base was female.
That seems incredibly fudged. There is no way that nearly HALF of all MTG players are female.

>Hey, mom? You can buy the new booster for me?

>tell some groups they're underprivileged
Bread and croissants.

MTG's community has always been like this

How are you only just now seeing it?

Do you deny data straight from Wizards?
>inb4 doesn't count lmao

Agreed
Where the fuck are they playing, then? I haven't seen a SINGLE female player at my LGS or more than a token one at a competitive event.

I deny just about everything Wizards ever states, so kind of

It's not unusual or unreasonable for these sorts of numbers to be skewed to look more favorable. Not outright lying, I mean, but selective sample sizes and that sort of thing.

Just use your head, lad. It would be wonderful if half of MtG's playerbase was female, but do you really think that's the case? Does that seem remotely plausible?

I have no way of disproving it, so I have no reason to suspect it of being false.

Apparently the average age of an MTG player is 21-28, whereas I thought it was 18 or younger. But I'm not calling that into question.

>3 minute video to encourage the use of the word "they"

What a useless cunt.

Noble of you to volunteer, I suppose.

>the average age of an MTG player is 21-28
Considering how old mtg is, and how expensive it is, that isn't really surprising.

Use your head, user.

I believe they have a lower tendency to pop up at your competitive lgs and more likely contribute towards stuff like fandom. My wife for instance loves making 3D card alters but won't indulge my rigorous Pauper gauntlet playtesting not partake in my joyful Vintage Cube of power and delight. Not everyone is Gaby Spartz and Melissa DeTora.

Also they tend to conglomerate where other females are. It's intimidating to step into a lair full of male geeks.

You know what really amuses me though? They went to the troubles of adding Tammy and Jenny and then plain forgot about Spike almost as if to say "hey, there's no female player profile for competitive types because women can't play competitive Magic". It's like, they try so damn hard to have a socially responsible corporate image and then they shoot themselves in the foot like that.

>the bottom of the slippery slope is not being an asshole whenever you feel like it
>sure is hard being me amirite Veeky Forums?
