Technology is already confirmed to be unlocked. They haven't said anything about NoM and Hypercorps.

You'll want some basic dudes or remotes for orders. In Nomads Moderator is cheaper than an Alguacile.

Don't go overboard on Crusader Brethren, STEEL REHN tactics don't work in Infinity. You need a certain number of orders on the ground at the start of the turn to be successful.
Basic dudes and basic S3 and Baggage remotes are often essentials. So Alguaciles/Moderators and Zond Remotes with Salyuts for Nomads and Fusiliers and Dronbots with Mulebots for PanO. Arguably less needed for PanO since they're not as hack-heavy.

So you have to buy another box.
Everything in Infinity is designed so you have to buy two boxes. The whole cheap to play thing is a lie.
If you want to use the new models, you even end up buying two starter boxes, just to get enough cheerleaders.
The Baukunin box, with only TWO fucking moderators, looks like you will want to buy THREE boxes, just to get 6 cheerleader models

Duo will move them up the board more efficiently but... that's it. Kuang Shi links are good for powering up Rambos (Su Jian, Rhu Shi, etc). Wu Ming Pain Trains want a core link to start getting more burst, SS2, + 3, bonuses to really be useful.

The absence of a rifle wielding model irks me to no end, I mean 1/3 of the loadouts use a rifle and yet CB decided exclude it. It would have been better to just switch the hmg or panzerfaust mini for a rifle one and release the excluded later as a blister, seeing how CB is somewhat reluctant to release non-swc models separately.

And speaking of boxes with useless loadouts, the boarding shotgun Kuang Shi is an outstanding offender. I know I can always proxy them, but still I wish CB would release some weapon packs to make our own conversions.

Far cheaper is not cheap to play.
For a 300 pt army, with options to plug and play a bit (because there is no best list! TM) along with paints and (especially ) terrain, you dish out a similar amount as a 2000 pt 40k army (don't play warmahordes, don't care about it)

I feel the terrain elements in particular are a consistent "invisible cost" when starting this game. Unless you regularly play at a club with nice gaming tables then choose 1:
>expect to splurge a lot for some nice and overcosted HDF terrain
>take the time and resources to build it yourself
>play with a wild mix of kleenex boxes, glasses, shoeboxes and whatever else (I'm in this stage for now)

But it's true that the game is comparatively cheaper than others, €65 got me a kind of decent 300pts army.

There's probably going to be a MULTI rifle blister later. At least there'd better be, I don't want to be forced to include a Zhanying in every WM link I field.

It's the same way for all cheap warbands. Nobody uses the shotgun or combi profiles but they still get put in boxes for the sake of variance. I just proxy the BSG as a chain rifle and call it a day.

If they wanted to do that they wouldn't release the 5th model for linkable troops in blisters or starters. I've only doubled up on Infinity purchases when I wanted to spam remotes.

The 2 moderator thing is fucking weird though. I really don't like the ASA or JCB starter lineups, I hope they're not finalised.

I'm assembling a Lunokhod and I can't tell which of these guns is the flamethrower and which Akrylat-Kanone.
Not that it matters much, because I'd proxy the other if I needed to, but I'd just like to know which one I assembled it with.

What the fuck are you people talking about, there are 4 sets of chainrifle arms in the Kuang Shi box, plus a BS one. Why would you build the last one as BS and then proxy a chain is beyond me. Especially now that they can link with KSCDCG.

Is that so? I was hesitant to buy the box beacuse of the BSG mini, and every picture online always shows 3 chains + 1 BSG si I assumed that was the only loadout option, and the description on the CB store doesn't help either.

You can always part the terrain cost with other players m8, and its not like you must buy set of terrains for every army you build.

CB even give free printable terrain kit if you feel cheap.

And weapons packs come with ITS kits and spec ops blisters...

Spend $100-120 on plastcraft buildings (single and double modules) and you'll have enough terrain for a 4x4 table. They're durable >enough< to hold up to play and mild abuse and don't look terrible. They're also way easier to paint than MDF since they don't soak it up.

I've spent about $300 on Infinity minis and have about 3 dozen models to choose from, and another $150 on a mix of plastcraft terrain and MDF scatter terrain (stuff like jersey barriers from model train companies). Compared to my 40K ImpGuard, (3000 points so I have plenty to choose from to get to a 2000-pt game), I've still spent less than half as much in TOTAL on the entire Infinity game/terrain selection than I have on just the 40K minis.

To be fair, these are the first minis I've painted in ten years. They're also twelve year old paints. My dark flesh was literally a lump of pigment.

These are some of my best minis. I have shaky hands always manage to fuck up areas I've already done. At least they look good at two-feet.

Get new paints, then thin them. Also have something to rest your hand on while you paint, that helps me a lot.

Terrain wise 4 of the cardboard terrain sets from CB will do you just fine. Add some barricades and you're good to go. Cut up wooden rulers and stick foam core to make little walls or some shit.

Building mine now. Atleast the two with only CC could be used as any profile.

Really don't need the combi though, but it should be an easy enough conversion as he's only one handing it.

Pretty much. Most importantly they're 0 SWC, so adding a MSR is a common option, especially for forces with inefficient or just plain crap ARO options. That being said, don't use Spec Ops unless you intend that your opponent will also cheese with spec ops.

Not sure how shaky your hands are in comparison, but so are mine. I'm also a shit painter. New Vallejo paints and wet palette meant my stuff was pretty much thinned out of the bottle. It's crazy how much of a difference that can make. Also washes.

Zhayedan shouldn't be underestimated. They don't just ignore cover, marksmanship provides shock. And on a breaker rifle that means the enemy has to make both an ARM roll and a halved BTS roll for every hit.
