Just combine Iceland with inner city Baltimore and maybe some Australian fauna.

Don't we already have Hail and Kill? Needless to say it needs to be improved.

You're never going to top 40K in sheer metal-ness.

People die so often that it's considered dishonorable/disrespectful to mourn/remember the dead

we're all just cogs in a machine. the best way to respect those who have fallen is by pushing forward

I guess we need a starting point
What would the gods/races of a metal setting be like

I'm thinking most the gods would be inherianly evil/malevolent

I meam, just look at khorne and his personal plain

Before that, we must ask a very important and crucial question:
What kind of Metal? Death? Black? Speed? Thrash? Power? Hair? Folk? Prog? Classic? Technical?
This is an important question as each genre of Metal has a different definition as to what is "Metal"

For example is perfect for Death Metal or, if less grimdark, maybe Gothic Power metal, whereas stuff like Hail and Kill or Brutal Legend is more for both your Classic/Power Metal.

As for me personally, I'd rather a setting cobbled together to be based off all the songs of Ronnie James Dio

All swords are assumed to be on fire at all times.

>on fire
>not surrounded in a crimson miasma of evaporating blood and heat, fueled and accompanied by the mournful wails of 66 banshees that were bound and consumed in the forging process of the blade
Oh shit Nilfgur, what ams you doing?

this

>What do you do when all the blood evaporates?
>*Continues to stab everything*
>I don't understand the question.

Thrash metal

Why all not genres of metal? Each culture in this land could be representative of each type

Each God/demon is representative of a genre of metal and has forged the lands/people's under their control to suit then

Day and night were created by ripping the dying heart of a sun out of the sky. In order to keep the flaming black ball of concentrated agony from flying off, the gods sought an ancient blacksmith to forge a chain to hold it in place. The smith created a chain of the strongest, heaviest metal, fused it to his colossal anvil, and now the death-comet spins around the Earth in a futile attempt to fly screaming into the void while simultaneously trying to keep the Earth between it and the living sun it fears and envies.

The rite of passage for all warriors is the shed the blood of the Saxon(or whatever the equivalent is) men.

Also, the older you get as a warrior and the more Saxon blood you shed, the cooler and more metal you get.

Metallica pls go and stay go. You're overrated.

This sounds like the best idea really.

Yeah but having arms constantly fall off isn't very metal (with the exception of that one Def Leopard drummer, obviously)

That sounds good.

I saw this thread scrolling by and I like what I see

There is a race of trans-dimensional cosmic trolls that exist on a higher plain of existence to our own, two of these trolls got into a battle and one was mortally wounded.

The black blood, or Nekroplasm (with a K) drenched the world of humans creating a fallout zone in the centre of the world known as the Nekrokon. The Nekroplasm was harnessed by men who used it as fuel similar to crude oil however the fumes it produced caused severe mutation. As a result the world was divided, one half of the world was filled with humans preserving the old way (Paleolithic tribalism) and the other immersed in the new (Nekroplasm based industrialism). In addition to the spread of industrialism creating wastelands and black rain the Paleos would come under frequent attacks from severely mutated motorcycle gangs (resembling Rob Zombie caricatures) and mutated animals. In the heart of the world where the black monsoon blots out the sun the great troll lays dying in agony, its blood pumping through the veins of society and the only thing that can release it from its mangled husk is true man's spear.

Or something like that.

Abridged version: space troll got impaled, its blood is crude oil, cavemen vs Mad Max.

youtube.com/watch?v=sE4g3gGmL8k
So when do the goblins show up?

They show up out of the bodies of dead fuckers submerged in Nekroplasm.

Also there's knights who use that shit to be immune to their curse of becoming undead skeletons when they die.

The gods are all dead - the demons who we must fight each day for our survival tore them from the skies and killed them on the day of revelation.

We saw that we had been fools, that gods live and the dark forces of madness walk the earth when the corpses of gods spread across our cracked planet.

The earth was split in two that day, a powerful demon drew a bridge across the split, that h may have sunshine in his dark hole, and so that the world might not divide itself entirely.

One must kill for water. Crops do not grow and many have resorted to canibalism, or worst, feasting on the god or demonflesh - which has caused horrifying mutations (insert your abomination types here)

The deaths of the tens and thousands of gods, every one man had ever believed in had brought magic into the world. but not without terrific cost - each time a spell is cast a roll must be made - rolls less than x fail sanity check, rolls less than y are rended from this plain, their bodies and minds torn, a fissure opened and hellspawn opened into the ranks.

Goblins are sewer dwelling humans that lived off of rats cooked with Nekroplasm burners causing them to become troglodytes.

So, make a setting that's very cringy?

You definitetly should look up Lamentations of the Flame Princess and it's adventures.
Like, fuck, some of those are really metal IMO

Power metal requires good gods to fuel it's epics

Represent the Paleos!
youtu.be/Tq5ikEmrhFo

Nah, thats only if the setting is just Death Metal and Thrash

If you have shit taste, yeah.

But among the ashes there is hope.
Though the Old Gods may be dead, there are those few mighty and brave who seek to bring honor and justice to the land. Having inherited the aspects of divinity through various means, these warriors come from the four corners of the world and seek to slay (or perhaps userp?) the foul demons and restore cosmic balance.

These brave souls are known as the Lords of Metal!
these will be your PCs

and of course front man gotta wield an AXE

Planescape but metal.

I dig

>Def Leppard
>metal

Veeky Forums has already made Hail and Kill (and I think a few others)

If you want to do something different than what they did then go ahead, iirc they went for the "metal united" route where a bunch of the genres got represented.

The tag line here is metal as fuck, that to me says something that captures the spirit of metal as opposed to just being an homage to metal. You would just to make something brutal but also majestic.

how about a campaign set in modern scandanavia where legions of metal fans have become cultists and mindless slaves to a nefarious power and you are tasked with reclaiming the domain of metal for the glory of satan

then you get tons of random encounters that look like this

Topkek

> that captures the spirit of metal

Yeah given how many interpretations there are of metal...you might want to get more specific or you are going to wind up creating a setting that is
>opinion

Which isn't a bad thing mind you, I just think it's best to be honest with yourself about all else.

>youtube.com/watch?v=qeRLCbUblDg

check this shit out, we shuld hae the people in our village as brutal as these guys. if you are not fighting people you are slaves and just acept your life as something to be beaten upon. the upper teir of society are determined on weather or not you are big enough and tough enhough to survive mosh pits, people pushed to the sides know their place and must serve the most violent and angry people throwing punches and kicks randomly around the place. if you want it more metal, put spike on the walls of the pit so if they run away too far they wil get crushed by the crowd

Here's your map.

Really? No one?

truly outstanding

The people need to be reminded.
Show them user. Show them all.

Oh shit nigga
I had that background picture as a big ass poster on my wall as a kid. Used to wank it real good to the girls asses long before there was internet AKA Pandoras Box full of porn

THE ONLY REAL WAY TO DO IT IS:

1-GET THE CHARACTERISTICS THAT FORM METAL AND THE METAL GENRES AND SUB-GENRES
2-USE LOGIC, MUSIC THEORY SKILLS, WRITING SKILLS AND GAME DESIGN SKILLS TO CONVERT THEM TO RACES, PLACES AND ETC... CHARACTERISTICS
3-MAKE PLACES, RACES AND ETC... THAT HAVE ALL THE CHARACTERISTICS (FROM THE SPECIFIC GENRE) YOU FOUND

We also have a Veeky Forums setting which embodies old metal and/or rock with some prog thrown in there.

It's one of my favourites in fact.

youtube.com/watch?v=WLYT0NR8ZLc

PS:ANYTHING OTHER THAN THIS IS GUESSING

As some example pixel art converted to music wouldnt be chiptune.
Digital Sound is made of samples, values that can be 0 or interger (negative or not), usually a song has 44100 samples (on each side, left and right) per second allowing frequencies up to 22050hz. Those samples tell the volume and are used with others to find the frequency and timbre.

On pixel art musical equivalent, (sample art) the musician would manually select those values (each value on a 44100 samplerate song represent 1/44100 second) to create the song.
See, nothing like chiptune and this show, how you go wrong if you do by guessing.

>KILL 6 BILLION DEMONS

That's kind of like the philosophy of cultures that practice funerary cannibalism IRL. You want to FORGET the dead, so you destroy anything that might remind you of them.

>Dire NoiseCoreby?

It should probably be European in flavor, with a bias towards the UK, Scandinavia, and Germany. It must at least have barbarians, knights, vikings, and Nazis.

The setting could have a history and not be fixed to a single point in time. It probably resembles Earth history.

The setting has magic which comes in Sword-and-Sorcery, Tolkein, Arthurian, and Witchcraft/Dark Arts/Black Magic flavors. It tends to be infused with the setting more than used though. Those who use magic tend to become corrupted, evil.

Naturally the setting has things such as dragons, the undead (mainly skeletons, ghouls, and zombies), trolls, and demons/devils.

Benevolent gods don't tend to appear although they may inspire heroes. Evil forces such as demons and devils ate plentiful though, always corrupting people and they must be slain.

Have fun

>he holds the axe like an "axe" and hits people with the handle

battletech. there. done. good job everyone. go home and have a nice christmas.

Explain.

It's shit

it is always snowing, the forests hide a eldritch race, who in their folly left the void, and wish only to return.

Magic is simply channeling the aether, and is dependent on how well of a conduit you are, and can have grotesqque results
>inb4 warp

>warp spasms
Rune magic and Cuchulain everywhere.

But which kind of metal?
Black Metal: Cold, Dark, Scandinavian, and Brutal.
Power Metal: Generic High Fantasy.
Pornogrind: Basically any ERP where the fetishes get really weird.
Nu-Metal: Everyone wears a mask and gets angry when they get sad.
Stoner Doom Metal: Think Black Sabbath and lots of weed.
And on and on ad infinitum. I mean seriously there's a genre of metal for everyone and many cross over into other genres and mix different parts of different genres together to make something new.

It's really kind of crazy when you think about it.

>what is glam metal?

For reference

Set in an low-fantasy alternate timeline WWI, where the world is ruled by feudal monarchies. War erupts, and two alliances are formed, leading to a 30-year stalemate with staggering losses on both sides. In a desperate bid to end the war once and for all, the allies unleash a new form of air-born plague on the central powers. The results are disastrous. The plague proving far more volatile than expected, lays waste to the central powers, killing off the vast majority of the populace and leaving the rest as lepers. Much of the vegetation dies off and once fertile farmland becomes barren. The plague eventually spreads to neighboring lands, and eventually encompasses the entire world. The remaining survivors find themselves in a barren, desolate world. Their bodies twisted and deformed by the lingering effects of the plague. The great monarchs of old are withered away, and the cities in ruins. Small nomadic tribes are formed in their place. Generations of men come and go, the physical abnormalities caused by the plague prove to be hereditary and surnames are replaced by a distinctive physical trait of a person. (Jack One-eye, Tom Smallfoot, etc). The war becomes a distant and blurry memory, with each telling becoming more and more distorted. Politcal figureheads of the time evolve into gods, commanders in the age old battle of good and evil. Strange beasts are born amidst the barren wilds, wendigos, gremlins, and basilisks. BIrds the size of small aircrafts with talons that can pierce metal. The dawn of a new era of man has arrived. An era of savagery and death. Of disease and pestilence. Only those of the strongest will may survive.

I was starting to write a setting but it turned into exactly Requiem : Le Chevalier Vampire so i guess that's it.

also fantasy is faggy

>Itt we make a setting that's metal as fuck
The higher your level, the weaker you are to plastic cups.

surely cremation then is a more palatable solution.

always forget to take my trip off after the mages guild ends

This was mentioned twice already

Ground Zero. +15 minutes after nuclear war.

Background: Decades of economic mismanagement, climate change and resource depletion led to an exodus into the cities. The remaining rural people are almost tribal, with a handful of retirees being the only reliable resource of prewar knowledge. Private ownership of books was banned decades ago, and the government schools went down earlier in the year during the original cyber-attack. Electronic communication, already tenuous, went down completely.

Outer areas include automated farms, which send food to government SNAP machines (located in all schools and police stations) by automated train and truck. They are accessed through ear chips (implanted in all urban citizens in the mid twenty-first century) so finding an ear from a corpse is necessary. Likewise, transit is still operative and can be accessed through an e-ticket. Most of the suburbs are still on fire, with the lords of the old world holed up in a small number of gated communities and office parks. But as most are unarmed, they are prime targets.

The "inner" city is totally devastated, most roads are blocked. Handfuls of fearful, though healthy, people remain but they don't walk outside their homes alone or unarmed. Most work in the local federal building/city hall, a massive 1960s era "government center" complete with it's own underground train station and dorms for officials. Access is highly restricted. In the final days, rioting became so extreme that mechanized Civil Defense units were deployed. They continue their daily patrols through the ruins, shooting at anything with a heat signature. In the center of downtown (mostly steel skeletons) is a 25 story concrete tower labelled "Bell". In it is the controls for all the machines, and more importantly a repository of knowledge for rebuilding society. However, the Champion must learn it's pass phrase. This is the player's quest.

>80's Mettalica

>post 80's Mettalica
overrated as fuck
ftfy

Metallica's only notable album is Master of Puppets and even that is about half filler.

Metallica has always been pretty overrated for the number of hits they have. All they really have in the way of culturally significant hits is Master of Puppets, Enter Sandman and Battery.

I had a vague idea for a setting that would be an analogue (or literal) version of Earth around 1100 A.D, but after being virus-bombed by a small advance party of a vastly superior alien race to clear the way for a larger portion of their race to settle.

The virus worked by fusing together organic matter in unpredictable ways - millions of peasants fused with their crops or livestock for example, leaving screaming, crying fields of corn. Mythical beasts would be a horrifying reality, as a lion with snakes fused into their bodies.

The virus-bombs have a huge flaw, as they don't penetrate metal or stone, meaning that the ruling elite survives mostly intact, having sheltered in castles or been wearing plate armour. The aliens are then surprised to find moderately stiff resistance and realise that the small size of their advance party is not enough to conquer and colonize a species that was slightly more advanced and hardy than they had realised. Human ingenuity results in some forward-thinking minds discovering concepts like magnetism and electricity from the alien's technology (One of the first flashes of inspiration I had for the setting was knights that used their armour like a Faraday Cage with an electrified outside).

There are a lot of holes in the details, but I think the central concept of the majority of humanity being fused with animals and plants but still alive is pretty metal.

Seriously, listen to Motorhead and stop being fags.

Also, this is the most metal setting in existance. Anti-matter bombs made of the remains of Saints, Frank N Furter strutting around as Dracula's second in command, General Salem who steals orgasms, a nation of pirates led by the corpulent rebirth of J Edgar Hoover as a monstriously fat woman. Hitler as a doomsday weapon.

At least put related styles next to each other. This is a mess.

I don't want to shit on the person who created that as it speaks of effort and love of doing so. But there are some things that need to be tweaked.

>Knights using electro-swords against some mighty deformed beast in the middle of a screaming cornfield filled with human faces n shit

Metal will never die

The far northern rim of the world is a shadow-scorched wasteland of pure darkness. It is the material domain of the void where demons stalk the land, insane gnostics dwell in rotting cells contemplating the physical darkness and corpse-white barbarians thirst for oblivion. Searing winds howl down across the world from here, making nameless horrors rise from dark places. This is the land of Black Metal.

South of this is an epic land of frost, mighty stone cities, warring clans, great legend and vicious beauty. Ancient clans hold back the tide of advancing darkness and the people are at once grim and joyous with tales of serpents, wolves and fallen heroes. There are also reverent glades, streams, caves and hills where shamans commune with ancestors and elder spirits. This is the land of Pagan, Viking and Folk Metal.

The great stretch west is characterized by hundreds of feudal castle keeps and grim fortresses. A single faith unites the people of this land, although they all practice it differently, from the austere northern kingdoms to the wildly elaborate southern lands. This ancient faith has created countless paladins and glory-seeking knights, but also conspiracy and conflict. This is the land of Heavy and Power Metal.

Reaching south is a vast desert with an ancient drone in the air, from no definite source. The swirling sands hide countless secrets, and the underground swamps of primordial slime which belch forth poison gases have killed many of the wandering wizards who seeks elder knowledge here. This is the land of Doom and Stoner Metal.

The far southern rim of the world is a blasted land where the sun never sets, a vast, sunken, crumbling death temple. Skyflung monoliths are stained with a million different sacrifices each and the sweltering jungles underneath are fed by the occult run off of nameless rites of desecration. Mutants, barbarians and demons gather here where the winds of the far north gather and fester. This is the land of Death Metal.

There are 0 good female vocalists in metal

Arch Enemy's Angela Gossow

The entire sub-genre of symphonic metal.

There sort of was a swedish rpg like that, but it was grimdark and edgy. I think you guys might have it too, it's called Kult.

Tarja Turunen

The lines are supposed to show genre development.

Clowns are so not metal they're metal

I don't know man, John Wayne Gacy was pretty metal.

>[stalking intensifies]

Well written user.

Metal is about being inside hell. Everything can kill you, nothing has mercy, there's no refuge unless you carve it out with sheer power.

>metal is about a single thing
WimpsAndPosers

Metal, eh? I dunno if I can do that really well, but, eh, I'll give it a whirl.

>The world is bound by the four primeval elements, Blood, Bone, Metal, and Flame.

>The planet itself is the hewn head of a long since deceased god, decapitated in a moment of weakness.

>Disease, as it exists, is his fragmented spirit echoing it's final hatred-filled rage towards life in general; inhabitants who grow seriously ill must be quarantined, for they are likely to fall into a berserker rage before they perish.

>The Ascendancy, a region from the west, are effectively performing Aztec-esqe ritualistic sacrifices to rip the Divine Flame that dwells in the heart of all mortals, out. This is to fuel the Mortal Engine that actively prevents the dead god from reawakening and killing everyone currently dwelling on his head.

This is just some basic stuff, not sure if anyone would be interested in hearing more or coming up with ideas of their own.
