You should look at bard's prerequisited in early editions. You'd be surprised.

>mains
What, are we talking about an MMORPG or something?

Maybe OP means that he tends to play variants of that same character class over and over.

maining bard on LARPs is pretty pathetic to be honest

Source of the image? I don't remember that in the comic

Order of the Stick

>le rock star meme

Unless you are good at it.

So, just like in real life?

bards can be fun, just requires the right setting/circumstances

Yeah he referenced "the comic", he's asking what page or side thing/fanart.

Strength 15+, Wisdom 15+, Dexterity 15+ and Charisma 15+, Intelligence 12+ and Constitution 10+
At least 5, but no more than 7, level of Fighter.
Followed by at least 5, but no more than 8, levels of Thief.
Followed by Druid, at which point you're finally a Bard proper.
So who's silly now, sonny-jim?

this. if you know how to sing or play the lute or whatever else, why the fuck not?

So if Gandalf was the Wizard, Elrond (or elves in general) where the Elf class, who was Bard?

Thorin

They were inane in first edition, and resulted in you taking levels in something that just wasn't that good.

Just because it takes a lot of effort to do doesn't mean it's not silly.

>Gandalf was the Wizard
But he's really NOT a D&D Wizard.
Gandalf and the other Istari are literal Angels wielding divine power directly.

Bard was the Archer who killed Smaug.

I'm taking his character and making hima Bard

thanks for the idea

In the Pathfinder campaign I'm currently running one of the players is a bard that uses Perform (oratory) for everything, he just gives rousing speeches and the like, basically party leader. Pretty cool stuff.

It's LoL.

This.

This is how I play bards and yes, they're my usual character. Unless it's Sci-fi, in which case I love playing engineers.

...

I had a player do this for Crimson Throne. I began to play it as every villain went after him because he WOULDNT SHUT UP. He buffed the party pretty effectively too. Some of his high level spells drove me crazy too. He was constantly casting "Mad Monkeys". It was impressive how effectively he would stir up shit.

>roll up a Bard
>take Leadership
>use all your followers as an orchestra to play inspiring music backing your speeches, for a huge circumstance bonus
