Heya all, it's that time again I'm not the OP of any of the other threads, but they're fun so I'm gonna go ahead and declare that it's TRAVELLER CHARGEN TIME
Huh, same total. Gotta go with , cause they were earlier
So we got +1 to Strength, Dexterity and Intellect, a -1 to Education and 0 in everything else. So a quick-thinking, strong and fast guy with no book smarts
Pick 2 background skills to get at level 0 from the following list: Admin, Animals, Art, Athletics, Carouse, Drive, Electronics, Flyer, Language, Mechanic, Medic, Profession, Science, Seafarer, Streetwise, Survival, Vacc Suit
Oliver Powell
>Mechanic >Streetwise
Christian Perez
Okay, what's his name? And extrapolating from , what's his homeworld's name and what's it like?
Zachary Parker
>Name Owen Ryder >Noeter A desert planet with huge sandstorms, only cities have the ability to make it habitable for humans. Do to this and limited resources, it's a police state and breaking any law, however mundane, can be harsh. Though, some people are crazy and smart to be able to live in the hot sands. Mostly, nomads and raiders. Something like that. I'm open for change.
Josiah Watson
That sounds good user. Given he's streetwise I take it he's a citydweller and not a Not!Fremen? Maybe from a family of atmos techs, his early life spent scrubbing sand from air-con untis?
Anyway, are we gonna take any higher education? University requires an EDU roll for entry and an INT roll to graduate. Army and Marine Academy requires an END roll for entry, while Naval academy requires an INT roll. All Military Academies require an INT roll to graduate, with a +1 if END is 8+ (which Owen has)
Owen passes the Academy's entrance exam with flying heh colours. This gives us level 0 in all the Navy service skills: Pilot, Vacc Suit, Athletics, Gunner, Mechanic (already 0 so no effect), Gun Combat
Roll 2d6 for an event
Jordan Sullivan
Rolled 6, 6 = 12 (2d6)
Eli Watson
Owen's a bit of a party animal, and gains Carouse 1. Roll 2d6+1 to graduate
Nathan Brooks
Rolled 4, 5 + 1 = 10 (2d6 + 1)
Robert White
(I forgot the +1 from his 8 END, but it doesn't matter) Despite Owen's physical results being recorded as minimum due to a computer error, he still passes with Honours.
This means he gets three service skills at level 1, +1 EDU, +1 SOC, and an automatic commission to Officer rank in the Navy.
Which three of the skills listed here does he get at +1? Also, does take up his post in the navy?
Logan Lee
Athletics, Mechanic, Vacc Suit
And yeah, he goes Navy
Aiden Wright
I pick Mechanic, Gunner, and Athletics and goes with the Navy for a while.
Gavin Lewis
I say we get +1 in Pilot, Vacc Suit, and Gunner.
And yes, he takes his post.
William Martinez
I'm gonna make an executive decision and say Mechanic, Gunner, Vacc Suit at +1, just based off the past characters
And I should have asked which branch of the navy he goes into? Line Crew (general officer) INT/EDU Engineering/Gunnery (technical/gunnery officer) INT/EDU Flight(Fightercraft/shuttle officer) DEX/EDU
With INT/EDU meaning INT for survival, EDU for advancement
Kevin Jenkins
>Engineering/Gunnery (technical/gunnery officer) INT/EDU Makes sense.
Pick from personal development, service skills, advanced education, officer skills, or engineer/gunner on pic related and roll 1d6
Caleb Cruz
Now that I think about it, I switch to Line Crew.
Ayden Hall
Rolled 4 (1d6)
Choosing Mechanic Too late I guess.
Carter Gonzalez
Rolled 1 (1d6)
Advanced Education
Josiah Evans
Okay line crew it is
On his first term in the Navy, Owen was assigned to the frigate Tiger, an older ship. It was prone to electrical failures due to shoddy wiring, so he learned a thing or two from the constant repairs.
Roll INT for survival
Gabriel Lopez
Rolled 6, 1 + 1 = 8 (2d6 + 1)
Kevin Morales
Rolled 5, 5 + 1 = 11 (2d6 + 1)
John Foster
Owen fits into the navy lifestyle well, and gets through his first term Roll 2d6 for an event
David Garcia
Rolled 1, 5 = 6 (2d6)
Grayson Lewis
Rolled 6, 1 = 7 (2d6)
Luis Perry
The Tiger is involved in an important military engagement. What happened? Was it war or just pirates? Also choose from Engineer 1 or Pilot 1
Samuel Robinson
>Pirates >Engineer
Anthony Hill
How did Owen distinguish himself during the action, despite being a lowly ensign? Also, EDU (-1) for advancement
Henry Diaz
Also I feel like this song would be a favourite of Denglebert's
He tricked the pirates into thinking the guns didn't work. Right when they got close enough, the pirates got blasted into pieces. Open to change, though. Noice.
Anthony Thomas
Maybe instead of tricking them to think they didn't work, he hacked/sabotaged them and they had the ship destroy the pirates during the confusion. What about that?
Aiden Collins
That sounds good user. By his stats he is prone to quick-thinking over plain thinking
btw I should have said Roll EDU (-1) for advancement
Jaxson Nguyen
Given that he's an ensign on a frigate, how I'd spin it is that his superior officer was knocked unconsious by enemy fire, so he ordered his guns to hold their fire. The pirates, thinking the Tiger was disabled, moved in to board, which was when Owen ordered a salvo directly into their weapons and engines. Of course his CO took all the credit
Jordan Torres
I like this. Let's go with that.
Wyatt Jackson
I'll go with this.
Parker Jackson
Okay, roll 2d6+1 for advancement
Connor Robinson
Rolled 4, 5 = 9 (2d6)
Benjamin Moore
Sorry, meant -1, but it doesn't matter now Captain Anderson recognises Owen's quick-thinking, even though he can't publicly acknowledge it. He promotes Owen to Sublieutenant. Roll 1d6 on one of the tables in
Dominic Evans
Rolled 4 (1d6)
END
Elijah Cox
I meant from personal development, service skills, advanced education, officer skills, or line/crew
Alrighty, Owen stays in the navy Roll 1d6 on one of the tables in picture
Caleb Wright
Rolled 6 (1d6)
Line/Crew
Tyler Brown
As Sublieutenant on the Deck Crew, Owen was given additional training in hard suit operations, so as to better instruct his subordinates during hull breaches. Vacc Suit +1.
Roll INT for survival
Ayden Fisher
Rolled 2, 2 + 1 = 5 (2d6 + 1)
Henry Perry
Despite his former CO trying to sabotage his career for the pirate action incident, Owen barely scrapes through this term.
Roll 2d6 for events
Joshua Jenkins
Rolled 4, 5 = 9 (2d6)
Great success!
Colton Foster
Owen foils an attempt by his former CO to sabotage the ship and blame it on Owen. What's the CO's name and what are they like?
We get them as an Enemy, but also get +2 to the next advancement roll.
elsewise, keep the thread alive for the next while. Give me 8-9ish hours. Either that or I can just start a new thread tomorrow.
Jaxson Torres
Rolled 2, 1 + 1 = 4 (2d6 + 1)
We can try and keep the thread alive for you OP.
Jonathan Brown
Anybody got the new High Guard book?
Lincoln Howard
Rolled 4, 1 = 5 (2d6)
>Name Ravana Basu >Info A cynical woman from the same home planet of Owen. While she's isn't incomplete and is a good engineer, she hates competition and will do anything to eliminate her opponents. Feel free to add, take out or make another one. Hope that didn't sound pretentious. Goodnight, OP.
Asher Lewis
>she hates competition and will do anything to eliminate her opponents. I was thinking more of an inferiority complex and that's why she hates competition. I think a more important question to ask is why she was trying to sabotage the ship though.
Dylan Hughes
I can take over for the character creation. Now, with these stats:
The OP posted a picture of each skill list and their corresponding skills earlier in the thread.
Benjamin Thomas
Rolled 5 (1d6)
Officer
Zachary Rivera
Owen's wild ride settles down a little, and he gets more comfortable with the humdrum of Navy Life.
+1 to Admin.
Now, roll 2d6 for survival.
Juan Lopez
Rolled 1, 6 = 7 (2d6)
Chase Nelson
You made it, congratulations!
2d6 for events. What happens to Owen this term?
Dylan Morales
Rolled 6, 6 = 12 (2d6)
Something good
Mason Bennett
That's good. She might thinks the captains are playing favorites.
Brody Thomas
So maybe not sabotage the ship but just what Owen was working on in order to make him look bad?
Lucas King
Yes
Nolan Cruz
You're right. During an engagement with a yet-to-be-determined enemy force, Owen rises to the occasion and single-handedly saves the entire ship, again. I wonder if the accolades feel as good the second time? Well, even if they don't, Owen immediately succeeds on his next promotion roll.
Well my vote is staying in the navy but we need to figure out who we succeeded in victory against. Maybe pirates?
Jordan Williams
One more term. Three should be enough.
Isaac Green
I'm thinking some good negotiations against pirates. Maybe they disabled the ship's weapons, but he bluffed them about reinforcements coming in?
Josiah Brooks
Alright, pick a skill list and roll a d6.
James Hall
Rolled 3 (1d6)
Adding to this, maybe he advised the captain and the captain took his advice? Service skills
Dominic Gray
+1 to athletics, keeping fit is important. Now, 2d6+ INT (+1), for your survival roll.
Caleb Anderson
Rolled 1, 5 + 1 = 7 (2d6 + 1)
Angel Fisher
Nice, made it out once again.
2d6 for what events happen to poor Owen this round?
Zachary Ramirez
Rolled 1, 1 = 2 (2d6)
Grayson Jones
Owen gets cryogenically frozen by the government, but whatever inbred pencil-pushing mongoloid put him on ice didn't set the electrodes on his muscles right, and Owen comes out with his muscles reduced to soft serve . Reduce each physical characteristic by 1.
2d6-1 to see if you manage to nail a promotion despite your current predicament.
Joshua Davis
Rolled 3, 6 + 1 = 10 (2d6 + 1)
John Rodriguez
You did it! You're a commander now, +Tactics (Naval). Now, are we mustering out or taking any additional terms?
Isaac Gomez
Another term
Ryan Williams
Alrighty, OP here, good job on keeping the thread alive. I'm gonna take it from here.
Roll 2d6+4 (rank) to see if the Navy will pay for a replacement nervous system and synth-muscles after
Henry Lewis
Rolled 6, 2 + 4 = 12 (2d6 + 4)
Nicholas Watson
So the navy pays all of Owen's medical bills and we get our stats back at no charge.
Here's where we stand at the moment: Owen Ryder Gender: Male
