Post 'em.

Fine

Are you actually retarded, or just pretending? The card is very clear about how the targeting works.

Is FTV:Lore worth it at $60?

>5 mono red decks

Eww

>is sealed product ever worth it?
No.

I only have one of them put together at a time, because there are so many interchangeable parts. And at this point I have enough mono red cards I could make just about any mono red commander and have played most of them. I just listed the ones that I enjoy playing frequently.

Are you the guy who thinks FTV is packs?

>FTV
>sealed product

Done!

Fine.

>Vampire Cutthroat
I didn't even know this card existed. I need one for Karlov

Multiple mono-color decks, Titania and 2 Mono-Red among them. Muh nigga.

>Braids, Beschwörungsadeptin
That's fantastic

Is Extort doable in the format? How would user build a deck intent on abusing it as much as possible? I want to tax everyone's life pool to hell and back.

Oloro pillowfort.

Is Glossa any good? Does she do anything unique?

See:

It's not the strongest strategy but it's doable at more casual tables. Obviously include all the extort cards, then add in things like Exsanguinate, Debt to the Deathless, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, etc.

You could be a hero and play Bond of Agony.

Shes unique as a BG commander that has you build around artifacts. Don't know how you couldn't recognize that. She's fine strength-wise. Not the best but far from the worst.

She is a very strong general, lots of neat tricks with stuff like Executioner's Capsule.

I mean, that's obvious. I was asking if she was an actual artifact general or just BG with some artifacts too.

Cool, think I'll build her. Thanks a bunch.

ok

except that doesn't work, as you would lose when you pay all your life and the spell is exiled on the stack.

Just starting to get into EDH here.

Where do you guys buy cards from? For Modern/Standard, I just used Amazon to buy whatever I need for the free shipping. But when I'm buying like fucking 90 cards from as many sellers, that seems like a really bad idea.

TCGplayer.

I tend to just buy from the half dozen local game stores near my house, because I live in a city that is obsessed with MtG.

I think some people like tcgplayer, or you could go for one of the big online retailers like Cardkingdom or Channelfireball.

TCGPlayer.

To expand on this, you can do mass product entry, and then hit optimize cart, it gives you a few options, and then will give you the cheapest possible price (including shipping) for all of the cards you want.

>friend and I happily gimping ourselves to play on-par with people in a causal LGS meta
>get to play silly shit like Jalira and Jor Kadeen
>tryhard rolls in to pubstomp people with Tazri Food Chain
>now we have to actually build decks to deal with his shit so we can return to a peaceful meta
He's going R/G hatestuff with ruination, stranglehold, and a box full of nature's claim effects. I'm going U/B control feat. praetor's grasp / sad sac

I'll feel bad using the deck against most of the people there, but it's for the good of the meta.

Have you tried talking to him, like adults? If so and he's still a shitter, best of luck.

I'm not gonna stop someone from playing what he wants to play. But I'm not going to make it easy for him to do it.

Currently building Uril aura-Voltron as my second ever deck.

Tell me the secret tech

build a casual deck for normies and a murderdome deck for the big boys

Clearly you don't pay ALL your life.

If you need to ask for secret Uril tech you are probably too retarded to be allowed on the internet.

Little do you know, that what the guy actually wants is for high powered EDH games where everyone is trying their best to win, and doesn't actually enjoy murderstomping people as much as you think he does, but at the same time doesn't want to build shitty casual decks because that isn't fun for him.

By building powerful decks and playing with him you won't be crushing his soul but he will have finally found the people he wants to play with.

>tfw I am this person

Seriously, I have tons of mono-red decks, because you can go super hard and play some really awesome things in mono-red. But it's never going to be degenerate enough to make people sad.

But what I really want is people to bring awesome powerful decks and have a high power game where every turn is a battle where someone could combo out and win if not stopped, or games turn into attrition battles where people are trying to get enough value to beat out the Stax/resource suck decks, etc.

Almost every other person at the store will never progress to that point, so it's very clear he just likes winning.

I'd have to take your word for it. But if I was going to a gamestore, and me stomping people lead to even a few people seriousing the fuck up to "fight me off", I'd be having a blast playing interactive games that I have to try in order to win.

I could see that being the case in some game stores, but not where you've got randomized pods and a lot of people. Odds are we won't even end up against him 'till the winner's pod, and these decks aren't really tuned to win, just be generally unpleasant to play against and blow out fast combo.

winds of rath

enchantresses.

It's a pretty straight forward deck.

You're talking as if that your store is doing EDH tournaments? If that's the case, then someone playing to win makes sense if there is any sort of reward for doing so.

It's a tournament in the vaguest sense of the word. You win one whole pack, maybe two, if you win the regular pod and the "winners pod." Most of us just come to fuck around for five hours.

>Dark Depths and Token
>$35 or so
>Umezawa's Jitte
>$20 or so

If the rest of the cards are worth $5 or more to you, sure.

Dark depths+token is like $45, probably $40 once prices settle. I think I will pick it up, thanks.

I'm going by eBay prices. If you think you're getting a good deal on something, don't compare it to SCG prices, look for the actual lowest prices.

I use TCGPlayer NM lowest.

Well, either way, you can get them cheaper than that. Looks like this just got listed.

Hey guys, I was about to start my first edh deck pretty soon so I decided to come here for some help.

I wanna build a deck using Simic, I also love Midrange decks. Ramping to some big creatures is fun, and drawing cards is fun too, so I figured Zegana would be the best choice. I was wondering though, would it be better to splash a different color and run someone like Riku, or Roon or even a Sultai commander or play it safe with Zegana?

I do not have much deck building experience, just drafting, but the whole deck building theme for edh caught my attention.

...

Zegana is probably thee most powerful U/G general. For a newer EDH player, even if it is a little more skill-intensive, I'd recommend Momir Vig. It was my first foray into Simic EDH 5 years ago, and it was a blast.

Your midrange threats tutor up more midrange threats, and you can be toolboxy about it, too.

So after I finish Azusa, I was looking into building something else.

I was thinking.

>Tajik, Blade of the Legion
R/W soldier tribal with a little chaos.

>Nin, the Pain Artist
U/B control chaos

>Edric, Spymaster of Trest
U/G combos galore

>Ruhan of the Fomori
Voltron

Which sounds the best?

I'd say Momir Vig was most powerful. Simic has a million and one creature combos.

I changed my list style.

Blue green is the strongest color combination in EDH, though naturally it only gets more powerful as you add more colors. If you have any idea as to the power level of the group you intend to play with, it would be helpful.

Regardless, Zegana can be plenty powerful for a fair simple fatty ramp deck. It can be quite inexpensive.

My basic EDH advise would be this:
>don't go under 36 lands
>pack a reasonable number of removal cards for every type of threat: be able to have answers to creatures, enchantments, and artifacts. 4 of each is adequate, and counterspells help.
>have some cheap spells
>Your commander does draw, but do not rely on it as your sole source of draw

Apart from that, if you're in a pretty casual meta, I'd say that you should just have fun. Grab fatties you like, avoid net decking as much as you can, keep it lowkey. Zegana is strong and can carry you a long way while you just goof around and make a fun deck that you like.

Honestly, use Great Distortion as your general. Easier to cast, the draw effect is much better imo cuz by the time you play him you're only at 1 of 2 cards, and that evasion is noice.

Plus that counter ability is just icing on the proverbial colorless cake.

57th for UNBAN PRIME TIME

I wouldn't recommend tutor generals most of the time. There's a tendency for them to play the same a lot of the time. Toolbox is all well and good, but you know that you're grabbing the same few creatures every game, + some more situational cards.

That's probably some good advice. He's in the 99, honestly, the only reason I haven't made the switch is because Annihilator on a general is an incredible feeling.

My playgroup and I are more casual players, and I chose Simic because I love the guild and am a bio student so it feels right to me. I do not wanna win by oppressing and just wanna win by doing some crazy over the top play or by beating face with some huge fatties I cheated in either by ramping, or not technically casting them.

And I will definitely take your advice. I was overwhelmed in terms of lands and how many of certain things to have. Do you have any advice on how many of the lands should be utility, dual, and how many rocks is typical?

I have a Maro tribal deck that switches between 4 commanders based on the power of the surrounding decks. If Zegana is your commander, I'd include a Lab Maniac just for the cheese. It can be easy (and tons of fun if you don't mind losing to it sometimes) to deck yourself with Zegana, especially if you're not playing combo wincons.

It is fun, but it makes for a large target. Also, if it's stolen from you it's not as bad if it's Great Distortion.

Nothing quite like dropping a Zegana for 8 and then casting a series of Clones

Momir is a lot less powerful than Zegana considering Momir needs to stick to work. Zegana is just a free etb card draw for at least 2 whenever you need it in the command zone.

I do not mind losing, I just wanna have fun and play my game. And combos are not that fun for me unless they are some over the top combos, like Riku Epic Experiment copying crazy kind. Not like Splinter Twin or whatever in other formats

I like the idea of Lab Maniac winning without an infinite draw or mill combo. It's obviously a dead card early in the game, but if your meta is casual enough it may be worth throwing in for the hell of it. Dropping maniac and following it up with a 21/21 Zegana is a hell of a way to close out a game.

Getting bored of Meren. Her reanimation theme wasn't really competitive enough for my LGS so it just got retooled into a combo fetcher. Want to retool and expand into 3 color. Whats the best route?

Should i build stax or hatebears for my next deck? And what are good commanders for both outside of Augustin IV and Gaddock Teeg respectivly?

play gitrog reanimator with meren in the 99

Hatebears gets my vote.

For stax including black gives you some neat choices like contamination, bitterblossom, and descent into madness. Endrek Sahr or the flip Liliana would be good for a monoblack stax. If you want more colors then Ertai, the corrupted is worth looking into. Nothing like a repeatable counterspell to maximize the despair.

For hatebears you'd probably want to include green and white for sure, though I've heard Ephara makes a good hatebears commander with her built in card draw. Captain Sisay is good for tutoring up silver bullets when you need them. Anafenza the foremost is a good choice for having graveyard hate in your command zone. Karador may be better though if you want more resilience.

Build GAAIV hatebears, or Gaddock Teeg Stax. I'm working on GAAIV hatebears/death and taxes at the moment, here's what I've got so far: tappedout.net/mtg-decks/grand-fuckmaster-augustin-iv/

I play PW Teferi stax and it's really strong, I hear Zur is really oppressive too. Some user had a Kazuul stax list that looked dope. Depends on whether you want to focus on saccing, taxing, or tapping really. As for hatebears the list of powerful options are limited. Anafenza is a good choice and can run Teeg in the 99. Alesha might work alright, since she lets you recur your bears.

...

How fun is flip liliana? I'm thinking about building a new deck and i was looking at her or Nin artifact fuckery. Any builds that don't involve stax? I already have a stax deck

I suppose you could just play mono black value.

Wait
If you have a Colorless commander, you can use cards that have a color but have Devoid?

No. EDH uses color identity.

Same way you can't use hybrid cards if one the colors isn't on your commander.

Not usually, unless there's a houserule on it. I've always wanted to try, but there also aren't really enough Devoid cards in existence to justify it, most of the time.

No, the colored mana symbols in the cmc or abilities is still considered the card's color identity, even if the card says "this card is colorless at all times." So cards like Worldbreaker and/or decimator of provinces would retain their color identity, both being green

What if your commander is BR but identifies as BW are you just assuming its identity? Do you have the right to tell it what it is or isnt? Are you saying it doesnt have the right to choose what it identifies as? This is problematic and you wonder why magic is in the spotlight for its pro cis white male patriachal dogma

That could be fun, any spicy tech with her?

Do any of y'all identify personality wise with a certain color, guild, or shard/tribe? Do you tend to build around those said colors?

>Simic
>Temur cancer

Most of my decks are Azorius

Are you also a cop?.

I have a shitload of Orzhov colored decks compared to others.

Are you secretly a mafia don? Or just a really corrupt priest who touched Johnny and Timmy the wrong way?

yay more cards for maelstrom wanderer

Spicy tech is the most retarded thing to pop up in these threads since Scarred Puma, people who say this shit should be euthanized.

Interested in original Grenzo as a commander. Anyone have experiences with him?

I wanna Cascade into that, play a Bloodbraid Elf from the Wild vote or from the Cascade, then Cascade again then again, and call my deck Viagra Falls because I cannot control my hard on for this.

Picking just one is hard. There are plenty of color combinations that I wish had better distribution of commanders- Abzan especially.

Green is the only color I really like regardless of my deck's distribution. For instance, I really like White, but only when it's the dominant color or at least around 50% of the deck (my Sigarda deck is heavy white). On the other hand, I vastly prefer less blue to more blue, preferring it mostly as a third color or a support color (not that lots of blue can't be fun, I just don't tend to build a deck that way.)

Oddly, I love Izzet despite treating both Red and Blue like "supporting" colors rather than colors that can stand on their own.

I love Sultai but I don't look forward to building Simic (there's a lot there that could be done, but not enough legends or support for the really interesting stuff like manifest). Dimir and Golgari are my jam, but the Mimeoplasm deck is largely supported by the Ezuri precon, so it's more that the addition of black and the fun commander help a ton.

Abzan needs a good commander. Some of them are fun, but none of them really speak to me in terms of wanting to build them specifically.

Playing him as a durdle deck is fun but not very good. Playing him as combo wins a lot more, but it isn't very fun.

Any spicy tech for serra ascendant a 6/6 flying lifelink for 1 white mana?

Explain why mental misstep isnt spicy and is infinitely times worse than serra ascendant

He's literally my best deck. Get yourself an Ashnod's Altar, a Hero's Blade, a Zulaport Cutthroat and/or a Blood Artist, a tutor or two, and then build literally whatever you want around it. I went for a mix of Red threaten effects, Black reanimation, and sack outlets in both as a starting point, then slowly put in some real potential. The best part about it is, I still kept in plenty of pet cards ala Kurkesh, Pyxis of Pandemonium, and Fated Return, and it doesn't hurt the deck nearly as much as you might think.

By sheer nature of Grenzo's design, you will have artifacts on the field. Ones that can scry and ones that can stick graveyard cards on the bottom of your library. You'll then have sacrifice components with Altar, Zulaport, and Blood Artist. It seems like a lot, but you'll have at least 20-30 free slots to fill with pure Rakdos goodstuff.

Try this spicy tech son it's straight sriracha!

And now, Daretti2 can play too.

Durdle Grenzo is both not very fun nor something I've seen much of. Mine runs a couple combos and is otherwise straight beatdown, but he can be tuned to focus on voltron, combo, or durdle as desired, and can probably do all three at once with the right build.

The only problem I have with his combo is how slow pinging everyone for one is, and the fact that it's not the kind of thing you actually scoop to- it's not infinite. Combined with the stuff that's in Standard at the moment, though, you can probably take out problem players directly with faster combos while you ping everyone.

I wish I were a don but there's no evidence of any touching going on with Johnny or Timmy. Also pay me.

Daretti 2: Rakdos Boogaloo
