"Why are you two in in my room?" I ask tiredly as I lay in my bunk, rubbing my eyes and scratching my face to try and wake myself up a bit faster. Ajax stands up on my lap and growls at the two marines standing in the door way, looking like two stalks of corn or something.

"Well" they say in unison like they're a pair of twins, turning to each other and pulling their caps over the eye "Captain Fal wanted to see you for some reason, so she sent us to wake you up"

I run my hand through my hair, yawning as I try to remember what day it was when I fell asleep and what I was fixin on doing after it.

But I just draw a blank and shrug.

"Well I haven't a clue about" I say slowly as it dawns on me as I start to actually wake up "it's my day of isn't it?"

"You get days off!?" The twin on the right yelps, turning a little red as the left one frowns

"Er, I think the captain just took it away from her" He says calmly "Besides, it's probably just more patrolling, since that's all you've really been doing"

"And yet you've managed to find several rebels that way...you're a magnet for bad luck" The right one says with a chuckle as he lifts his hat up "Guess you really deserve your title of evil eye"

"Yeah, yeah but...I'm pretty sure she'd tell y'all something" I say, grabbing my cap as I swing my legs out of bed "and...well I haven't had any coffee yet, so unless you're fixin to.."

"WAIT" they shout holding both of their hands up "She didn't tell us anything, she just gave her usual scary glare and told us to get you, don't use your devil fruit on us, we don't know anything"

I blink, as Ajax glares at them, meowing angrily as they refuse to leave when he wants them to.

cont

"Uuuuh" I say slowly as they try to push the other in front of themselves "I was saying, unless you where fixin to tell me something, I was going to get some coffee to wake up and forget my bad dreams...didn't mean to scare ya fellows"

"Well could you stop smiling so widely" they say, even though I know I haven't been even smirking a little

"and could you two idiots get out of my room" I huff, putting my hat on as I glare at them in annoyance "I need to get dressed and I'd really like'ta have some priv.."

And they're gone in a second, faster than the wind in a storm.

I shrug, and close the door.

"Well, I hope today is gonna be peaceful" I yawn, rubbing my face as I start to unbutton my shirt "...even though I could use a bit of excitment"

Oh hey, it's this quest!
>[]Go see the captain

I adjust my cap, tugging it into place as I stuff my right hand into my duster's sleeve. I smile and pull on my collar, making sure it isn't all smushed down and weird looking. I smile, dusting a bit of cat hair off of it as I leave my room, looking nice and like a proper Tumbling girl if I do say so myself.

The halls are empty as usual, probably because it's breakfast right now. I rub my stomach as it reminds me I didn't take advantage of the twins' fear for a free meal. Well I'm sure the captain will understand if I take a bit of a detour. I mean she wouldn't want me half asleep now would she? I chuckle and lift my cap up, as I head down to the mess hall.

The door is open and...everyone is calm, it's still weird seeing everyone eating here all nice and calmly, and not dancing around like a bunch of fools. I smile as I see Ochamu and Yotshi sitting at a table, sharing a few books as Jack scrubs the floor with Bellary standing behind him holding a bucket as the doppelganger grumbles and growls angrily, glaring at the bubbles and suds covering the tiled floor.

I giggle and shake my head, and make a bee line for the coffee machine, which is abandoned as usual. It takes awhile to start up, and give me a nice steaming cup of black coffee. I drink it as I walk over to the tray of food, and crap a piece of toast with some weird green jam and a round fish covered in a red sauce.

I turn to walk out of the cafeteria, munching on the toast and fish cautiously between sips of coffee.. OH they're not sweet at all..kind of sour and spicy, hmm I think I like this stuff but...I have no time to waste I need to go see the.

cont

Captain before she gets impatient and I end up having to scrub the floor with jack. But the sounds of the sea and Serri make me glance out of one of the pier facing windows as I walk by them.

I frown, why is no one out there giving the big guy his breakfast. I pull my cap down and head out the nearest door, draining the rest of my coffee as I set my plate off food down on one of the steps. And then I jog over to the private dock, eyeing up the place to see if I can see one of Serri's second caretakers around here.

And sure enough I see the lanky man struggling to drag a fish bigger than him to my sea king, as she watches him from the end of the dock with a hungry look in her eyes.

"Making her wait eh?" I say teasingly as I lean against the sides of one of the ships

"Ah..I'd like to see you try to carry this thing all the way down here" He puffs and huffs "Besides this is the fifth one Its made me get for it....are you sure it's tame? it keeps looking at me..weirdly"

"Well, Serri hasn't tried to eat anyone since i met her, but she has a bit of a bad habit" I say slowly as serri starts to gurgle and roll the water she's sucked up in her jaws.

I turn away, and hear her feed yelp as he goes sliding past me, as the back of my coat gets all soaked and wet.

"That" I say flatly as I start to walk away waving to him as he lays there with his eyes spinning around in circles "Also make sure to show her respect, she gets hurt pretty easily"

"You didn't tell me she could do that" the poor guy groans on the floor as I start to trot over to the captain's office.

And run right into mr bellows, who looks really....really displeased with me

"You're late Miss De'terrar" He says sternly "You've kept keli waiting you know"

"It takes me awhile to wake up, my apologizes" I say trying to walk past him, but he steps in front of me "So I'm guessing you know what she wants with me then"
cont

"You forgot didn't you? you two had a "Play date" despite me advising otherwise, as most of the island seems to think she's a tyrant" He grumbles as he wraps his scarf around his face "and that it's far too cold for her to be going out and...HEY, I am still your superior you can't just walk away from me!"

"Captain's orders" I say flatly, wagging my finger as I feel him glaring daggers at my back "and she out ranks you, sorry Mr bellows"

"I understand...just be on time next time you're called for" He says coldly, before he sneezes and mummer something about the cold.

Despite it being a nice warm day.

I shrug and pick up my pace to the office, and nearly get the door slammed into my face as Keli walks out of it.

She steps back, looking a little surprised with a plain white medical mask over her face instead of her usual one, but she's still in uniform, including her jacket hanging from her shoulders.

"Oh adela" She says flatly "I was just about to start looking for you"

"Yeah sorry I took my sweet time to get here...so what do you want to do anyways?" I ask "I mean I'm guessing you're taking the day off to"

"I don't know, I usually just work on my off days" She says shrugging 'I thought you'd know what to do with free time since...you came from such a "free spirited" captain and all"

Take her by the hand and lead her to a nice Coffee place.

"Er, I kind of spend most of my free time working to" I say with a nervous chuckle, scratching the back of my head as Keli sighs and blushes a bit, shaking her head.

"So we're two workaholics trying to figure out what to do without any kind of work" She says bluntly "Well, I'm sure we're clever enough to figure something out...right?"

"Well we could play with serri" I say happily, pointing my thumb behind me as we walk down the dirt path to the front gate.

Keli looks over my shoulder and squints, as I hear the familiar sound of serri thrashing around.

I turn around and see her rolling around in the sky, pulling the poor marine up with her as he struggles to hold onto her fins, with a brush held between her teeth.

"I'm pretty sure I don't want to spend my day dealing with that" keli says flatly as she starts to walk back towards the front gates "Besides I want to go out to town, I need to show people I'm not a monster"

"Probably should've told him she only lets me clean her" I say sadly as I turn back to join my captain in her walk "And I know that feeling, trust me its better to let it happen naturally than to try and force it"

"Shame such a nice girl like you got such a cursed fruit" Keli says softly, pulling her mask down to show her warm smile "But I'd be lying if I didn't think you used it well, it's the whole reason I brought you here anyways"

"Oh lord, I know that" I chuckle, stuffing my hands into my pockets as the gates start to creek open "But if we're going out, we should probably get some coffee"

"You do drink a lot of that don't you" She says happily as she nervously puts her mask back on "Well I'm sure a coffee aficionado like you could tell me where the best place for it on the island is"

"Yeah, I've acquired a bit of a taste for it, I'll admit" I say smiling as the street goes quiet and incredibly cold from my and Mrs Fal's combined presence "maybe a bit of an addiction to be honest"
cont

I pull at my collar as I notice for once, no one's looking at me. I turn to Keli and see her staring dead ahead, her eyes cold and distance as she marches down the street.

I...I will admit she is giving off a pretty scary aura, and she's also making the street feel with fear without doing a thing

user. Why.

Nice going ass, You had to pick the roll option.
Can we use a reroll so bad shit doesn't happen please?

Talk about her aspiration perhaps? or we like what she has done with her hair. Say we try to do things but it's kinda hard to use a mirror when you see your own worst fear when you try. Make a joke or something.

I still find it bullshit when the roll counts even though only one person picks the option....

I was trying to say it didn't, since I realized I worded it wrong in the reroll
but I guess I hit enter somehow while typing it out

>I still find it bullshit when the roll counts even though only one person picks the option....
I think its fine, its there to make people not vote away from something just because of the roll.

So the one doesn't count even if we don't pick the reroll?
And yet all it takes is one person picking an option no one else is picking and rolling a one to fuck us over.

>And yet all it takes is one person picking an option no one else is picking and rolling a one to fuck us over.
It has never really mattered much, not seeing a reason to be stinky about it after two years.

Because it's still bullshit? It's punishing the players for because some asshole decided he wants to roll.

Not really bullshit. It makes perfect sense as rule, and its not like we ever had a issue with it.

Being scared of rolling always seemed silly to me.

Considering that 1's in this quest lead to very bad things happening, It isn't that silly.

It kinda is, 1s are as likely as 100s or 20s. Its just part of the game.

And yet there have been a lot more 1's than 100's or 20's and they've all had terrible shit happen.

I find that claim statistically dubious, and I can't remember any 1 making terrible shit happen.
Though we might have a simple disagreement on what constitues "terrible", its not like we lost our legs.

And she does look intimidating, I think it has to be because she's hiding half of her face with the mask. And since most people on this island seem to distrust marines...her uniform can't be helping either.

I smile and laugh, making Keli turn to me, still looking pretty scary.

"come on don't pay attention to them, it's our break" I say, gently smacking her shoulder, feeling a little nervous before her eyes turn soft again "no use in getting worried because of a few looks"

"You're right, I should be used to it anyways" She says calmly, before she smiles judging from how her mask wrinkles "it's just so...frustrating getting treated like this"

"I know, but so long as you help people, your image ain't worth spit" I say, picking my teeth "Just treat people well and eventually you'll do the same"

"Hmm, I guess aspire to be you then" she says teasingly "...since you don't care what other people think about you, even if they hate or fear you"

"Eh, I've had years to adjust to it, you'll get it eventually" I say shrugging "besides you're a nice girl, you just have to show people it and they'll flock to you"

"do..you really think so?" She asks cheerfully, tilting her head "Most people say I'm strict"

"You need to be, doesn't mean your mean" I say "I mean you seem nice enough to me"

"Such a sweet girl" She sighs as she covers her mouth "but, my teeth always seem to make people a little...on edge around me"

"Girl, if I can make as many friends as I have looking like their nightmares, you can do it" I say happily "You just need to...relax a bit, since you are a little prone to..."

"Being strict" she says flatly "I just like order, I hate seeing things out of place, including people, I know but...that really actually helps adela"

I shrug and smile, before I freeze as she touches my shoulder.

"So what does coffee taste like anyways?" She asks a bit awkwardly "I've never had it before"

cont

"Oh well depends on how you have it" I say excitedly, grinning widely as we get closer to the cafe I've been frequenting near the pier

"Eh?" Keli asks, looking confused as hell

"WELL!" I shout, clapping my hands together, taking a deep breath "You can have it like I do, black with nothing added, as concentrated and strong as possible, you can add cream or milk to it to make it lose it's bite, you can add sugar or honey to it to make it sweet, hell you can dip things in it but that's all a bunch of childish stuff you know"

Her eyes go empty as she stares at me, not getting a word of what I'm saying as I lead her into the cafe's doors. The music stops when she comes in.

"See you need to savour the flavor, the rich earthiness it has and be careful to not burn yourself, even if you make it a bit lighter, you should still take it slowly" I say moving my hand up and down like I'm drinking a cup, showing her how to do it

"But you just chug it" She says slowly

"I only do that when I'm tired, which is most of the time since I never sleep" I say smiling "and my aim gets a little sloppy when I lose my edge"

"Ah, I get it, it's like how pirates fight better drunk than sober" She says nodding slowly as the barista looks at her like a scared pup "what are you looking at"

"A..ah miss fal" She says bowing quickly "I didn't know you were so close with Adela here or..or liked coffee, er"

"I'm introducing her to it" I say patting Keli on the back as she looks around the place with a look of disgust in her face

"Why is everything so lopsided?" She ask coldly, covering her mask with her hand "nothing's in place right"

"I..I can have it fixed" the barista says nervously, sounding terrified as the rest of the cafe goes quite

"it helps some people relax, capn"I say, tugging on her shoulder to try and get her attention away from the messy art covering the walls "Come on it's just the decor anyways"

"It's a mess, how can anyone like this?" She ask, sounding like she losing her usual cool "I don't like it"

"We can have our coffee outside if you want" I say as she shakes her head before I can finish

"It's fine, I'm not working today and it's not...illegal" She says, as one of her eyes twitch as she shudders in discomfort

"I'm glad it isn't ma'am, so what would you want" the barista asks, drawing Keli's attention back to her "

Keli looks at me and simply stands there like she usually does, looking like she's about to start barking orders

"Er, two black coffees, the strong stuff for me and something lighter for her" I say tapping my hand on the counter, as I fish out some Beli from my pocket and put it down "with a side of milk and sugar for her to figure out what she likes"

"Good choice" the barista says nodding

"Do you want any sweets?" I ask pointing towards the shelves full of them

"Well, I usually don't partake in such things buut, I guess I could cheat today" She says happily as she walks over to the glass and looks through it "A lemon tart and one of those rolls with a fruit mix in it"

I smile and sit down at the table as Keli sits down, and instantly starts to organize the spoons and forks, even pushing the coffee pitcher and cups around into a perfect symmetrical shape.

She sighs and pulls her mask down when she's done, and looks at me expetingly.

I sigh and pour her a cup of coffee, about half way to the top, and then do the same for myself as she starts to slowly measure out spoonfuls of milk.

C'mon guys, Don't ask questions that will upset her.

>C'mon guys, Don't ask questions that will upset her.
I'm the kind of person who thinks putting a topic on the table is the best way of resolving it, though you might be right it'd be better to relax her more first.

I watch her from a second from the edge of my cup, watching her carefully drop of a cube of sugar into the cup before she slowly starts to mix it. She pulls the spoon out and lets it drip before she sets it down on one of the napkins and only then does she finally take a drink. She drinks a bit like Ochamu, in a very noble and refined way, closing her eyes when she takes her first sip.

"Bitter" She says wincing as she sets the cup down exactly where she picked it up

"You really like keepin things organized don't you?" I ask as I set my cup down as near as to where she put it as I can

"Order leads to peace" She says nodding as she folds her hands under her chin "told you that before, without order everything just falls apart, it applies to everything, including just keeping thing organized, if you just put them down and move them around with no purpose, you'll lose something you care about or have to go looking for it, it's just easier for me like this"

I nod slowly as she takes another sip, adjusting her cup as she sets it down

"it keeps me calm" She says happily, smiling and showing her metal teeth.

"Well, I can understand that" I say happily "I mean I've seen people do weirder things to stay calm"

"and what do you do?" She asks leaning over the table "Sorry if I'm putting my nose where it doesn't belong, but I think friends should know more about each other"

"Well, you told me so it's only fair" I say taking another sip as I think "Can't really say I have one besides tipping my hat or drinking coffee...I twirl my guns around but my grampa's cap is really just enough most of the time"

"Hmm so you don't lose your cool often then?" She asks as she grabs her cup again

"Nope, I've been around fear long enough that I usually keep a cool head when anything surprises me" I say calmly "and I don't tend to get mad, and when I do I just work it out"

"It seems like you were born to be a marine"She chuckles as she takes another sip
cont

"It runs in the family, always had stories and talks about justice and doing what's right" I say sadly as I hold my head in my hands and sigh "Besides, gotta keep the De'terrar name shining right"

"Must be nice" Keli mummers, looking away

"What?' I ask cocking my head as she closes her eyes and frown

"No one looks down on the De'terrar name" She says softly "Come on, ignoring it won't change that people are scared of me because of my name, because of my father's name"

I pull on my collar as she stares me in the eyes

"it's all about history" She says calmly, shaking her head "don't worry about it, just...spoke my mind there for a second, I'm sorry adela"

"What was your father like...wasn't he the previous captain here?" I ask slowly as she winces and the air gets cold as I struggle to drink down my coffee

"He was" She growls angrily as the cafe stops "Just...drop it, please for our friendship. It's a wound I don't like thinking about"

I nod and stand up, looking around angrily

"Ya know this place is usually a lot louder" I say loudly as I look around "HEY I have a question for y'all why are you scared of her!"

"Adela sit down" She commands, so I do.

She stares down at the table, biting her thumb angrily.

"Why?" I ask again as everyone turns away from us

"because my dad was...he" She says angrily "he was a good man at home but..he got paranoid and made mistakes, and you know what he did to the man who took my teeth"

My heart goes cold as my stomach falls and I feel a little sick.

"So you can guess what he did when he started seeing danger and deceit everywhere" She says sadly "Just don't bring it up, it's something I want to forget, he's gone and so are all of the bad things he did"

I frown and nod slowly, feeling awkward as it somehow gets even quieter

"So..so do you like it" I ask after what feels like an hour

"It's alright, I can see why you like it" she says calmly

"Well, it doesn't mean you're bad, it doesn't at all" I say sweetly as I lean closer to her "if you think you need to make up for what he did, you don't, you did nothing and honestly I think the stress of it is why you're still having trouble with folks"

"WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT HAVING A MURDERER IN YOUR FAMILY" She shouts, sounding more torn up than really angry, as her eyes tear up "Having everyone look at like you like you're going to crack any second and repeat his crimes"

"Marty the dissector" I say calmly as I pull the torn and tattered wanted poster from my pocket and roll it out "Captain of the marty marty pirates, wanted for several crimes including the killing of a marine officer"

Her eyes light up and narrow as she sees the last name on the poster, and she grabs it. Her hands shaking.

"My brother is a pirate, and I became a marine to drag him back home and keep the De'terrar name clean" I say calmly as she stares at the poster "I'd say I know a bit, but I don't really...it's different but my family ain't as clean as it looks is what I'm saying...I'm sorry for asking, once again"

"Why didn't you tell me" She asks, sounding betrayed for a second, as I look down at my hands

"Never came up" I say shrugging "And I want to be the one to bring him to justice, I don't want anyone else getting in my way, he's my brother still, still blood, wouldn't want anyone else to do it really"

She grips the edge of the poster for a minute, and then slumps forward.

"So you aren't perfect, all of this is because you want to...do what I've been trying to do" She says sadly as she looks at Marty cocky smile printed on the poster, a burning brand in one hand, and a whip in his other

"And because I want to help people" I say calmly "Order is nice, but what point of it is there if it doesn't help folks out...also I get free meals every time I go against law breakers so really it's win win either way"

She smirks and rolls it back up and hands it to me, smiling

"Well, I'll promise to not talk about him if you want" She says as I grab it a stuff it back into my pocket "since I asked the same of you...I'm sorry I lost my cool"

"Don't be, Bottling up stuff like that is toxic" I say smiling "Just glad I might've helped you a bit"

She shakes her head and laughs, still sounding a little sad

"Well I bet it'll be easier for you to keep the family name shining that it is for me" She chuckles, before she frowns and takes another sip of her coffee.

"Permission to hug?" I ask as I give her one, and she freezes

"Granted" She says blushing as she hugs me back and holds me for a second "Okay that's enough Marine, stand down"

I giggle and sit back down, pouring another cup of coffee.

And then the door slammed open and a bellowing laugh and the smell of the sea washed in.

I glance over my shoulder and see a man with a wild red beard, a black coat with gold accents and a T shaped scar in his chest, his wild brown hair covered by a bowler hat.

"Eh...this ain't the bar' He bellows as he looks around "Well still, been awhile since we've had sweets right lads"

He laughs again

as I see more men walk up behind him, wearing coats like he is.

For such a hardass she blushes really fast. I guess it really is mainly a protection facade.

"Er, boss I really think we shouldn't be here" one of them says, trying to cover his face as the man walks into the cafe, still smiling as he wipes his lips with his knuckles

"Bah, why not?" He says smugly "not like we should be scared of some noble marines should we"

I glance at him and he jolts, before smirking again and leaning close

"Though you look a bit monstery don't yah" he says poking my stomach as Keli glares at him, her eyes twitching as she covers her mouth "Eh? you saying I'm making me sick or something"

Keli's glare turns even fiercer

"So what are you folks doing in town?"I ask, drawing his attention back to me as I finish my tea and start to feel pumped up, as the world and my senses sharpen back up

"Just passing through and getting some supplies" One of his lackeys says, leaning over his back as his boss smirks "that's all"

"Yeah, need to restock for the long journey, fruit and some medicine to keep scurvy away" He says grinning happily, cackling as he finishes his sentence

And I join in with him, laughing with him and his crew as they join in nervously.

"ha...ha...ha" I say slowly as start to get up "You're a terrible liar, AKUMU AKUMU NO"

"I TOLD YOU!" the smart one of his lackeys says, as the bearded man ducks down and shoves him towards me

"LOCK!" I shout as I slam my hand into his face, glowing purple chains flying from my palm and wrapping around him as he falls to the ground, his eyes going white as he hears it

"Devil fruit user?" the man laughs "fun fun"

And he throws the table away, paying more attention to me than to Keli, who rises up with an empty look in her eyes. And a second later she slams the coffee pot into the man's head, making him stumble forward in surprise.

He turns around, his eyes glowing with rage as everyone inside the cafe screams and tries to rush out of it as fast as they can.

"Why you little!" He roars, still laughing through the pain as I hold my hands out to my sides while he's distracted with Keli "I'm gonna enjoy breaking your face in"

Keli screams in pure unfiltered rages, and a second later I hear a crack and the pirate is slumped against the now broken chair next to me, looking a bit dazed with a busted lip.

The other ones finally stop panicking over their fallen friend and reach for the swords at their sides

I clap my hands together, forcing all the fear together as I shout "AKUMU AKUMU NO SUMMONS"

And the air in front of me rips open like a bag, as a massive wasp like creature emerges, wearing a laughing face like a mask as it buzzes loudly and flies towards the pirates, who start to focus on getting away from it, shouting in surprise.

"Shut up" Keli growls, as she rubs her bruised knuckles

"Struck a nerve, didn't I metal mouth" the bearded scum says as he stands up "You know, I'm not the only one who's here to get you"
