Welcome to the Accidental Magical Girl thread!

Welcome to the Accidental Magical Girl thread!

Various worlds and multiverses have become connected together via the mysterious Overcity, a sprawling landscape inhabited by monsters and magical beings. Girls and boys endowed with their new supernatural powers can work together solving conflicts that arise!

>This is NOT a greentext adventure style CYOA with one GM and thread posting to dictate the adventure, but rather a hub thread for multiple storycrafters to use.
A majority of activity (including campaigns) instead happens in the Rizon IRC and the Discord, which is open for newbies to join.
Characters can be rolled with the CYOA's purple PDF, the Supplementary Combat System can be used for campaigns and PNP, or AMGC's blue pdf which contains its own rules for PNP campaigns alongside the rolls.

Post builds, roleplay, write stuff.

The CYOA's Patron Module, which determines just who bestows your character's magical abilities. But be wary, for not all of these patrons are after your best interests...

Introducing the MGCYOA Supplementary Combat System!

The SCS was made as an addon to the CYOA to cover the combat side of roleplaying. It allows players to easily take characters made in the CYOA v1.5 and use them in Quests and long-running campaigns alike.

This PDF covers the basics of magical girls and sets the groundwork for future updates (which will include Patrons, DMGs, and Monster Girls).

Said Add-Ons for both the SCS and AMGC are also linked here for further convenience.

The SCS Order & Chaos, Friend & Foe expansion, for adapting patrons to SCS play, a basic bestiary, and creating dark magical or monster girl characters.

AMGC Corruption Module, for mechanics of a monstrous nature.

AMGC Fusion, for magical girls that are truly inseparable. At least, as long as the fusion lasts.
Hint: it's not long.

Did lack of drama kill the last thread?

The AMGC Puchuu Expansion, for the myriad creatures that seek to instruct or command most magical girls.

And, lastly, a guide to and history of the Magical Girl genre.

Pretty much. As much as people wave their hands about not liking the drama, it's clearly very entertaining to get involved in.

So, fellow magical girls, magical boys, and fluffy-tailed abominations: what was your first experience transforming like? Was it weird, or cool? How different did you feel?

It felt fulfilling.
Like if I was finally becoming what I was meant to be all along - I felt the good and the bad of the mission I was taking for myself, and wouldn't have exchanged it for anything else.
The sword was freaking cool, too.

I think it's more that people started to keep away from the thread because of the drama, and when it finished it plummeted :v

...

"It... it was scary. Like... as if I was locked into a closet full of old coats."

"I don't remember anything, past making that contract with... them. Maybe that's for the better, really. But... I was given this sword for a reason. I have to know why."

What do you think about characters knowing all the spells for their spec immediately?
IMHO it limits character progression if you start out with a full kit availible.

Or megucas knowing all about the different patron factions, different specs, etc. of the lore? Is that meta knowledge or breaking the fourth wall?
I've noticed in the irc a few mods do this so it must be acceptable, right?
How do characters get this knowledge?

How do they know to fuse?

Does anyone have any good art for Puchuu?

I tend to not play my characters as knowing what spells they can actually use. And they "learn" new spells through trial and error. Or seeing others use them and trying to mimic it.

Well, if someone made a Patron with the explicit idea that the Patron was unknown/new-in-town, it'd probably not work well if someone's character just happened to know about it,

Same with Puchuu too.

Rally actually didn't know all of her spells for a while, she had to practice and learn them.
Kiri was taught for several months beforehand, so her grasp on her magic is pretty good, and I fluffed her Sorcery perk to that time allowing her to cast it out of costume.
Lotte is ded
Eina does it by instinct, and her instinct only ever gives her one spell. She'd have to try and learn about her spec more to actually use the rest.
Aiko has Fate, her Puchuu, plus doesn't necessarily know all of her spells, she just kinda tries it and if it works it works. Otherwise she just throws fireballs of varying sizes at people.

Sanrio characters
Jap mascots

Rolled 1, 17, 14, 20, 11, 2, 7, 20, 18, 15, 4, 12 = 141 (12d20)

Rollin again. I'm gonna end up with way too many characters at this point...

Rolled 9, 7, 1, 3, 2, 14, 15, 16, 16, 9, 3 = 95 (11d20)

Actually, I'm gonna do something different from usual.

>knowing all their spec spells immediately

Should probably at least RP them learning them gradually

>knowing the factions/lore/shit

Only justifiable if your character has already been meguca for some time and has either encountered that shit or been told about it

Emilia was making it up as she went along (because of her status as the SCS' unofficial mascot, changes to the game are reflected upon her). Eventually she did learn a number of spells to combine her water powers with her martial arts prowess, and after becoming a Monster Girl she added Lightning to her repitoire.
Most of the other girls I have either don't know their spells or trained to learn them shortly after their initial transformation offscreen.

I'd actually been meaning to do a couple stories about my characters fiddling about, trying to get their powers right. Thanks for the reminder, user~

This subreddit moves fast.

>That bait
Please. PLEASE.

I just wanted to upload this PDF. It's of the same version as the linked PDF, but with full bookmarks.

Pain in the ass! I was hoping it would be more superheroish... but, being turned into a girl.. not what i was expecting. But hell, i got the power..so i guess it my responsibility. Now if only those other girls would stop pestering me to join there little girl scout club.

I'll give it a look, thanks!

>join there little girl scout club
Psh! Your cuteness is a fundamental part of being a magical girl! Every magical girl needs to harness it.

>Being a DMG
Wow look at this edgy little faggot.

Being on the over-developed/teen side, and still not too keen on being a girl. It's still too difficult to settle in. She's a tom-boy magical girl, that helps with taking down monsters with the other girls. But isn't up to joining them. Lest not yet.

Being frustrated about Losing your identity, and being forced to accepted her situation isn't edgy at all user. She's honestly just scared of all the changes.

If you want to be a magical guy, you can spend a few coins depending on what you roll to get the Perk that gives it.

>Coining off the chance to write an interesting story arc.
Just because it's been done thousands of times before (even in this very community), doesn't mean you shouldn't try.

A delicate mix of excruciating and terrifying.

My transformation got botched by the interference of what was basically a shoggoth which lead to me feeling every little rip, twist and break as my formerly adult body was shrunk.

Oh, i'm fine with her being a girl user. I'm just working this as part of her plot. To overcome her frustrations which will lead to her acceptance.

Exactly. And yeah, the situation is plot driven.

Th-that doesn't sound so good... but now you're a super-cute magical girl! So everything worked out, right?

Iron Heart-chan says "You can do it, nya! Believe in yourself!"

(Disclaimer: Iron Heart-chan is a monster and therefore an abomination. It is highly recommended you refrain from interacting with Iron Heart-chan. We cannot be held responsible for injuries up to and including death due to interaction with Iron Heart-chan.)

I'm the cutest half a 12 year old tacked onto a giant snake you've ever seen.
On the other hand laser eyes are pretty good.
And allegedly I'm immortal now? Not looking forwards to a second puberty but at least my tiny arms are growing.

Rolled 19, 7, 4, 13, 14, 11, 9, 5, 19, 2, 8, 15 = 126 (12d20)

You.

I like you.

Have a picture.

Which sort of plot and stories would you like to explore in quests?
Do you prefer just fighting monsters? Or something more complicated?

"Dyahahahaha, that was remarkably easy! And here you said it'd be hard to get an entire magical suit of armor on...wait, what the hell am I wearing?"

Enhanced Transformation and Skimpy outfit made it easy, I would imagine.

I tend to enjoy conflicts between factions and making players consider different angles. Nobody is safe from being the bad guy and anyone could be the good guy, but after a certain point it becomes obvious who is who in the specific scenario.

Just throwing monsters at girls is fun, but sometimes it's interesting to mix it up and offer a puzzle fight or a section where girls can avoid combat (and probably should).

I prefer to be unambiguously good, but I think there are plenty of complications to explore in pursuing your goals!

Thank you~

I prefer to host the complicated stuff in general, but I'm not very good at it. I make too many mistakes or otherwise miss opportunities, so just giving girls monsters to fight and not having as much workload is nice too.

Exploring the City, Dealing with various magical girls with there ideals, and struggles. But mostly i like coming up with bizarre monsters and monster girls to face.

Fighting monsters is nice, but I prefer such fights to really expose the personalities of the characters present. It's an excuse to demonstrate who everyone is and how they reflect off of each other.

Yeah, it was weird. Losing ten years of age, getting a sex change, and learning all about magic and monsters in the span of a few minutes is definitely a shock to your system.

I certainly felt different afterwards, that's for sure.

Cuter and with superpowers, though! It might mess up your old life a bit, but that's okay, because now you have ~magic~! Who *wouldn't* love that? ... The.. monsters are scary sometimes, sure.. but still!

...

Rolled 13, 4, 10, 7, 16, 8, 4, 4, 3, 12, 7, 5 = 93 (12d20)

Roll11d20

11d20

It's "dice+11d20" in the "options" field under where the name goes.

Dice 11d20

Rolled 14, 7, 14, 4, 17, 13, 16, 5, 16, 20, 11 = 137 (11d20)

Ayyy

>now you have ~magic~!
>Who *wouldn't* love that?
I hate magic. Like with a burning passion, I despise magic.

...

What about REAL magic (Aka, stage magic and prestidigitation)

...

I used that picture as a character in a DnD game, a Gnomish bard

...

Okay... maybe the magic is fun and all, but I still don't know about the "getting eaten alive by monsters" catch

and I am a bit cuter now, I suppose

Has anyone done a little girl turned into a awkward male teenager?

Bu-but that's heresy!

Rolled 7, 11, 13, 12, 17, 20, 15, 20, 15, 17, 14, 5 = 166 (12d20)

I'll you aren't bending/breaking/distorting the laws of nature and or physics, not making reality or the universe your personal play thing, or anything else of that nature, you're fine. That doesn't get you off scot-free, however, what NON-MAGICAL bullshit are you trying to pull?

*If you aren't

Rolled 7, 5, 20, 11, 18, 16, 15, 19, 19, 3, 8, 13 = 154 (12d20)

I KNOW YOUR CARD! I KNOW IT!

Also, just watch "The Prestige"

Sounds like a somewhat original take. Might be a little hard to get into the head of such a character, given that I doubt you actually are a 7-14 year old girl.

Why hello there, little miss! I heard you were looking for information on the Ebon Mint! I'm sure I'll be able to answer all the questions you have if you just take a short ride with me over to the Beacon Headquarters! Where was that again?

/r/ a rundown on the discord and irc
which is more newb friendly? which has open campaign sessions? are there applications to join?
Help a nig out please

The IRC excels at slice of life roleplay. Campaigns are uncommon, you can expect single sessions instead of one spanning multiple. Many GMs are amateurs. The chan op team, who had no criteria for selection to gain their status, does nothing to help control or limit players. It's the kiddy pool, so to speak, of the community.

The Discord group is where the system developers and content creators hang out. Slice of life takes a back seat to running different sessions and refining mechanics. You can expect deeper complexity as a result than what the norm is in the IRC. The moderation team also is composed of GMs and developers which goes hand in hand. However, the community is somewhat smaller and has the drawback of being targetted by IRC users with drama and harassment.

Choose wisely. Both have drawbacks and benefits.

Or he can just go to both. There's nothing stopping him from exploring both. He doesn't have to "choose" and instead can partake the best of both worlds.

how

I wrote out a big post about why this is dumb and you are trying to paint the IRC in a light that it simply isn't, but that I was probably wasting my and others time. So I'll keep it short: You could've just kept it objective. Come on man.

Dude I'm actually biased and have a list of reasons to have beef with the IRC and you just went full retard.

It's just two facets of the same community. A lot of users are overlapped and both communities do mostly the same shit. It's true that the IRC does focus more on pub-style RP while the Discord does focus more on mechanical quests and campaigns, but that isn't bad by any means.

Try again.

Aside from the biases in it's a pretty solid description.

The IRC has a lot more users and a lot more activity, but the majority of it will be slice of life RP. Quests are hosted semi-regularly, though questing activities there are heavily biased towards AMGC (to the point that the main channel's listing for quest signups assumed AMGC to be the system used until very recently - but there are, at least, open signups). It's good for you if that's all you're interested in; if you're also interested in the SCS or MGX (the latter currently remaining unfinished) you won't get much exposure for them there.

The Discord is usually rather inactive, lacking both general RP and quests, though to be fair the only way that can change is for people to bring activity in. The framework is there though, at least.

As a mod on both of them, if you're interested between the two it's not an issue to stay in both. Virtually nobody whatsoever will mind if you lurk in either one or both at once to see what the climate is like and get a view of RP going on.
The IRC has a list of channels that are public to join, watch, and use if they're not already occupied by someone. The Discord plops you into all of its channels by default.

Just go look at 'em. We won't bite, honest.

...

...

I tend to treat specialisations as more similar to Avatar-style 'bending' than a flavour of spells they can learn. That said, I have RP'd my characters learning a few more advanced moves that might not have been as intuitive as 'throw fireball'.

Just like to toss my two pieces in on the IRC... I'd like to see a bit more structure in creating characters so that the IRC's lore is a bit more consistent.

Here's a new story

pastebin.com/0nxv028G

wrote it from an alternate point of view to try and figure out how a group of college party slobs would react to a magical girl encounter

Rolled 8, 2, 10, 17, 19, 10, 10, 10, 4, 14, 2, 15 = 121 (12d20)

Fucking chads, eh?

Good stuff, thanks for sharing!

Rolled 11, 13, 17, 20, 7, 16, 20, 20, 11, 19, 19 = 173 (11d20)

Thank you!

That will never happen if it involves retconning another players character.
Even the mods are guilty of breaking what little established lore we have. Every current mod, not just one. non-monstrous monster girl and a girl who fought in the pub. The girl with instant res from death and a girl who erped in the pub.
If mod characters do it there's no chance that they will change the irc to have less freedom.

>bit more structure in creating characters

Such as?

Rolled 3, 11, 20, 4, 17, 14, 5, 17, 14, 3, 8, 13 = 129 (12d20)
