Tacticool Operators

Hello Veeky Forums. Recently I've been working on an RPG in which you play as "tacticool operators" in the style of Call of Duty and similar games. Basically over-the-top weapon attachments and tacticool gear, slaying terrorists and rogue nations in super-explosive-packed missions, that sort of thing. As I say in the intro:

> If you've always wanted an roleplaying game where you could attach a laser sight and explosive ammo to your revolver, or modify a machine gun into a sniper rifle, this game is for you.

I know Ops and Tactics exist but I wanted this to be a bit more rules-light and a lot less serious. It is based off of a game one of my friends made that was kind of similar but was a complete mess. It had some cool ideas like disposable one shot pistols and what not, but there were opposed rolls for literally every attack and the stats were literally useless (-2 to +2 in a d20 mechanic) so I decided to try to make my own game.

What do you guys think?

Go ahead OP. Write as long as you got that sweet inspiration. My tip for a rules lite game with firearms: don't do range, or do it very simple. Make every campaign either Close quarters combat so that all low range firearms do their job well or long range combat where noone has a weapon that wont work. You feel me?

Looks okay. Bump for original content.

Three round burst looks really underwhelming to use, especially when automatic gives multiple attacks.

I'd recommend making bursts just have lower recoil values.

Shit, didn't mean to respond to that, sorry.

>explosive ammo to your revolver, or modify a machine gun into a sniper rifle, this game is for you

Hey ive done those things!

Bump.

Op are you still here?

>For initiative, all players (including the GM) roll a d12 and call out their roll. The player who rolled highest goes first, then play continues in a clockwise order around the table.

INITIATIVE ORDER IS FUCKING EASY WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE SO MUCH PROBLEM WITH IT?

....

I actually really like this, except for the above quibble. Keep at it, OP.

Bump because its d12 based

If this was complete I would definitely run it for my players, for whatever that's worth.

Bump for potential. You shoula at least clean the pdf up a little though. At a cursory glance, the pistol table is unfinished and untidy, and the example operator has a stat at +4.

/k/ here, interested in playing.

>ctrl + f
>Clips
>0 results found

is this a /k/ meme I'm not understanding?

People call magazines clips, which is incorrect.

...

Yes, I bookmarked the thread so I can read people's feedback later.

Cause I hate initiative.

Yeah I am pretty /k/, i don't own any guns but I go way out of my way to make sure it sounds good shit.

Yeah it's definitely unfinished.

>Everyone has the same initiative rating
I really don't think that's a good idea.

>Yeah I am pretty /k/, i don't own any guns

Sounds pretty /k/ to me.

maybe he's that one catfucker felon

It's cause I can't afford them right now. I plan to buy an LCP for CC at some point soon.

Yeah I might make it based off of perception or fighting. Might add a reflex skill but I don't want too many skills.

Perception plus fighting. Perception for OODA, fighting for lack of hesitation and such.

This is actually pretty neat. But where's armor?

Veeky Forums doesn't play traditional games, /v/ hates vidya, logically /k/ must actually not shoot anything.

So is /s/ where all the gay men hangout?

BuMP

Will there be any way to access this online in as it's being made? I'd hate to miss the only time it's posted once it's finished and never be able to find it again.

A blog would be cool to see.

Bump. This is actually neat. I want to see more, and I want to see it completed so I don't need to do it myself.

You need to fix a few things like adding armor, completing your ammunition and other toys stuff, and maybe explaining certain rules a bit better by adding actual example scenarios.

Also clean up your presentation. It's really bland and difficult to read, but it'd be cool with some tastefully-selected art and better organization.

where the fuck is you nigga. we got questions.

Bumping out of interest

To add to this, there's no direction on character progression. A little important.

A good character sheet would also be nice.

Sort the guns you fucking imbecile.

Looks great, the anons above me have covered anything I have to say. I've actually been looking for a rules-light system for this sort of stuff, and this fits pretty perfectly.

>beer and chips system
>weapons list is a textdump of realworld acronyms with nothing to differentiate them

A little jarring desu

I always wanted something like this but with a more medieval arsenal. Tacticool knights with tacticool swords and shields using modern battle tactics

That's basically what low-tech GURPS is.

You need to read a lot more than 17 pages to run GURPS.

Some bump and also this provides me interest keep it up user!

No, you really don't

>using modern battle tactics
>With swords and shields
How does that work?
I already know the answer; it doesn't

>no tacticool Garand
>dropped

>no armor
>no character progression

This problem solves itself.

...

If you're running some GURPS ultra-lite shit rolling 3d6 against a Guns! or Swords! skill, sure. If you're playing with the Basic Set and Low-Tech, you need a good understanding of that shit. GURPS doesn't have to be the autistic shit internet people meme about, but it's not a rules-lite system.

I submit this art for your improved version.

Yo OP, where the fuck you at? We want updates man.

Just Add Anime!™

Is there such a thing as a clip in reference to guns? Like, are they two different things and sometimes people refer to both as clips? Or is the word "clip" just a slang term for a magazine that people decided was wrong, or what?

...

A clip is exactly what it sounds like: a metal clip that holds cartiges.
You use a clip to help load a magazine.
Some guns have non-detachable magazines, so you would load the gun directly with a clip.

...

Here we have caught a wild clip and magazine in a moment of intimacy

This, I want to Army of Two it.

Bump for original content

dis nigga just up and left.

As long as it's based off COD maybe do something like the specialists system. Basically adding in special weapons/abilities that can be used after a set amount of points from killing bad guys/supporting your team/completing objectives.

>Hello yes is that the military uniform factory? Yes, it's me. Yes, I'd like to reiterate my point that I want to make my men as faceless as possible. Yes I want their enemies to feel no moral guilt about killing them at all.

Somewhat difficult to put empathy into a bulletproof mask

>he doesn't realise that by covering your men's faces they'll never have the temptation to break rank to seek personal glory
>he doesn't know how to create the most obedient soldiers
>pity him

So... anyone running it as a game?

Who are these sons of bitches fighting that they need to wear bulletproof masks at all times? Fucking G.I. Joe?

Kinda hard given that half the rules are missing.

The masks hardly even provide much protection either if i remember correctly. It's good against low velocity pistol rounds maybe, but any common handgun penetrates it and rifle rounds go right through.

I've seen a test where they stop a .45 magnum round. The mask was just really bent in and the dude would have had a bunch of broken bones in his face.

But hey. Better than being dead.

I've got no idea who the Taiwanese special forces are fighting.
UTARC was a Bolivian military police unit, presumably they were fighting drug lords in slums like their BOPE neighbours in Brazil until they got disbanded for going too HAM.

Well from what I've read it supposedly goes up to level IIIA protection (High velocity 9mm and .44 magnum) but I bet it's at best single shot protection. It's also heavy as fuck, obscures your vision and doesn't really breathe well meaning it's uncomfortable to wear.

.44 Magnum, thank you. Don't know why I typed .45 Magnum. I need to sleep.

Well technically .45 Magnum is an actual round.

>Face messed up
>Better than being dead
Found the ugly person

It's not what I was thinking of when I typed, though. The test was a .44 Magnum.

Not ugly. But if I have a choice of being a bit ugly after the super ugly healing process and never being able to see my wife again, I know what I'd choose.

Vanity is a sin, profligate.
