Just saw brad Nelson's Turn 2 Kill with Death's Shadow Zoo
Is it banworthy? After all Amulet Bloom was banned because of Turn 2 kills.
Tiers are usage based but reflect the best decks for the overall modern metagame.
not really
when you get an extremely specific hand and aren't interrupted whatsoever plus you put yourself at a pathetically low life total plus you aren't blocked ... can you really say its unfair that you won
As a Zooicide player the turn 2 kills are extremely unlikely. Much like turn 2 infect kills, they require nut draws and lucky following cantrips. Turn 3 and 4 kills are much more common.
I was sad to see the turn 2 kill on camera as retards will bitch and moan about the minuscule kill chance they have no idea about. I'm glad he lost (to show the deck can be beaten), but i'd be salty by the one-of Slaughter Pact too.
Turn 2 kills in Amulet Bloom weren't that likely either
Fuck off, you know very well there are dozens of nut draw t1 and t2 scenarios in magic that hardly ever happen. Having a t2 possible in a turn 3/4 deck and having a t4 possible in a turn 2/3 deck (which is what amulet bloom was; the nut draw was more likely than the other t2 all-7-cards-plus-a-couple-topdecks wins) are entirely different beasts.
which is why i think its dumb that deck got banned
Feel free to actually have statistics to back up your arguements
In Bloom you had to have a very specific starting hand of normal land, bounce land, amulet, titan (or way to find), bloom.
I didn't even like the deck but I hate faggots that claim "oh man it turn 1'd me every game fug :(((("
I don't need to post statistics. Even the amulet bloom primer says that your goal win and the reason you play the deck is the turn 2 victory. And not only that, the hive mind kill exists also.
There are decks where turn 2 kills are possible but quite unlikely. Bloom got banned because it was its primary game plan and it worked consistly enough to feel format warping.
Why is Abzan Company T2? I'm shitting on my lgs with it.
Reminder that Norin Sisters will save us from the dredge menace
Tier is defined by usage not powerlevel
I'm surprised that Elves are classified as Tier 3. I see them all the time
The only reason Bloom won "consistently" on turn 2 is because of that one asshole who was actively cheating and stacking his draws.
That is literally the only reason it got banned.
I look away from modern for a month and a half and what is all this bullshit, dredge and zooicide are tier 1?
5C Aggro?
Eldrazi again?
Bloom got the banhammer for allowing frequent turn 3 wins and also the fact that A) Lands are one of the most difficult things to deal with in the game and B) The deck was hyper resilient and difficult to hate out without Blood Moon.
Death Shadow meanwhile operates it's wins via creatures which almost every corner of the color pie has ways of dealing with.
Can confirm, the dredge matchup is actually not scary unless in rare cases that get absolutely bullshit nut draws, and that usually requires them to run the burning inquiry build. Path to exile shuts down amalgams, and the sisters pad out your life total.
I run BW Soul Sisters though, not surr about Norin
I could almost see them banning Become Immense, because it's really the main card that can fuel Turn 2 kills in Zooicide and Infect.
Daily reminder that major vendors are given prior information about new sets and that reid duke's ( channel fireball ) brother works in rnd.
is there any good control deck that isnt in red?
I have Loam Dredge put together, but it turns out I actually have 2 Bridges and 1 Gargadon just lying around in my collection. Is Tom Ross' mixed build worth picking up another Gargadon for?
no
Its a fun build but not really good if you dont have early suspended gargadon. Loam-Conflagrate is a better build.
Can someone link me a (relatively) good esper list, im thinking about building it
Just draw some cards and say go, friend.
It's about time the weakest color in Modern gets a nice toy. Right now it's mostly just getting splashed in a bunch of decks for Path.
Unban when?
it still would be just a splash.
Hopefully some time within the next year. I'm working on my promo set next. White has no generally good finishers. Some Angels have come close such sublime archangel and gisela 2.0 but they are ruined by having 3 toughness and baneslayer costs too much to matter. Mirran Crusader would be excellent if bolt didn't exist. If only they printed something like
Good knight
1WW
Human knight
Discard clause
Lifelink
4/4
Not broken by any means.
Or an upgraded leonin arbiter with protection from red, or if that's too much make it asymmetrical so hatebears can run more colors for power.
A 4/4 with lifelink for 1WW? Are you serious? White doesn't get that much bang for its buck. Brimaz is where it's at in terms of extremely pushed 1WW creatures. And he's a legendary mythic.
Something like Voice of All but you choose two colors instead of one would be neat.
>White doesn't get that much bang for its buck
yes, we've well established that white is shit. Time for a change.
Giving white a part of green's colorpie isn't how to do it.
fine, give it flying too
Funny. There already is Rhox Warmonk which is a 3/4 lifelinker for GWU. Expecting a 4/4 lifelinker for 1WW is just silly.
How is that card green?
Ah yes, Rhox Warmonk, modern staple. There's 2/1's for 1, lets delete bob too.
*for 2
woops
Getting creatures of that size for that little mana is what's green about it. I wasn't talking about mechanics.
What are you talking about? Mana costs don't scale perfectly. Just because a 1 mana 2/1 is okay doesn't mean a 4 mana 8/4 is okay.
>Or an upgraded Leonin Arbiter with protection from red
are you fucking kidding? that sounds awful
no it got banned because that autist in the Facebook shirt won on the draw through a remand
Stop running fetches. It would make white based decks major player instead of "aggro: the format featuring GBx"
link the match?
>Stop running fetches.
Promotes mono and dual colored decks, creating diversity. I see nothing wrong.
There are fringe combo decks that can kill on turn 1 through infinite removal, it's consistency that gets decks banned
gotta remember though, alot of the early competitive stats for bloom titan were from that one guy who palmed his hands

starts ~24 minutes in
Cool thanks.
Was this win legit or cheat?
Then let white use it's own damn color pie. Print white cards with protection and indestructible instead of artifacts. White can't touch green's color pie but half of white's has been deleted and the other half is given to everyone as wizards feels like it.
it was legit. I played the deck when it was legal and insane stuff like that happened all the time.
Would she have an impact on Modern?
Why can no one pronounce Asuza correctly? Has none of these people seen K-on?
idk how you're supposed to pronounce it, but it's spelled Azusa.
Yeah..I reread that sentence and I think I should go to bed. now.
I just bought someones mtg collection with over like 500cards for 2 dollars from a church event but i dont play mtg (i think his mom donated it to the church bcuz if i had spent so much time and money on this i would never give it uo)
Post it
Magic cards are like beanie babies, some are worth hundreds, 99% of them aren't worth anything
yes, alot more ground creature combat and removal in modern, she would be oppressive as fuck
3 decks and a big book of cards
Yeah ik i thought i found a rare one that was worth $50 but it was the wrong ed so it was only worth a dollar
Fyi hes got a 2 green\white , and a blue\white decks already set up
These new OPs stink. Link the Conspiracy 2 card image gallery in the first post and bring back the second post with decklists/primers and the note that says "TIERS ARE USAGE-BASED. A Tier 2 deck can be better than a Tier 1 deck in a specific metagame." Now we get retards who ask why Abzan Company is Tier 2 when the answer is just "not played enough for Tier 1".
>Link the Conspiracy 2 card image gallery in the first post
Why the fuck would we need that? Conspiracy isn't modern legal you gaylord
Don't forget to rev for 15
>Good knight
>1WW
>Human knight
>Discard clause
>Lifelink
>4/4
They printed a 1W 4/4 with Lifelink already.
You mean a 1W 1/1 with Lifelink & "Bolt me" written on the front
That's all the more you're going to get for less than at least four mana.
>That's all the more you're going to get for less than at least four mana.
Just run serra ascendant if you want to do silly lifegain decks
White is doomed. Atleast blue has a ray of hope in AV.
Maybe mom could save us, but i reckon she's too good
Why would you post this
Stoneforge mystic enables colorless shit like Batterskull, it's the least white of the banned white cards
There's only 2 white cards banned in modern. I'd argue Second Sunrise as a deck is less white than stoneforge decks.
She's equipment support which white needs. White has no threat as mana efficient as Tarmogoyf, Tasigur, Delver, Kalitas.
Are you saying that Modern doesn't offer the tools to EASILY deal with a stoneforged Batterskull?
Good point, fuck eggs too. fuck white, fuck wizards, print some good white cards that aren't path and don't enable artifacts
>White needs equipment support
Ehhh, arguably. I would say that white currently has the BEST equipment support, but I mean.. there's *gotta* be room in the color pie to give white power that isn't just slapping a bunch of keywords on a cheap beater (lone rider is the closest thing we have and it's a fragile build around). I don't see white and equipments as all that intricately interwoven as much as the knight holding a sword has always been the idea they go for.
No, I'm saying that I don't think creating a deck that splashes white to win with colorless tools is a good way to make white feel more powerful. Personally I think SFM would be a relatively safe unban but not if I want something cool and white that feels like a white card that I play when I want to win with white cards. Maybe it's arbitrary but hey, whatever.
White just doesn't have much stuff left. Flanking and Banding used to be white abilities but they're gone now, protection used to be white but it's on pretty much anything these days from artifacts to even blue creatures for some reason. Stuff like lifelink, first strike, and vigilance are both not very relevant and shared with other colors, and after all that white just has board wipes to themselves.
Isn't protection gone now?
New Emrakul got it most recently, but yeah 99% it is
...
>card any color can run
This is why we need to make White great again, it's been in the sideboard far too long
>Serum Visions
>Inquisition of Kozilek
>Birds of Paradise
>Ghostly Prison
You don't really need to link the gallery just to mention a few reprints
post meme decks
:^)
...
three memes for the price of one!
The phyrexian obliterator thread got a retarded idea into my head. Turn one land+ birds of paradise, turn two land+burning tree emmissary+eldritch evolution->phyrexian obliterator.
One path and youre fucked, but idk rate my G/B(/R?) Tard combo?
This one is a bit outdated, but I think it qualifies.
Actually Phyrexian Obliterator would be a spicy card to include in Eldritch Evolution decks. It would just be so bad to draw.
It would absolutely blow to draw. If the bloodbraid elf unban meme becomes real though, eldritch evolution is gonna do work.
The only bad thing about BBE in Evolution is that you can't evolve her off a cascade.
Obliterator's problem is not that that it's slow
But obliterator isn't worth it. If you've ever actually played with him he's usually an unblockable 5/5
It's surprisingly easy to remove him too
I'm personally making an Abzan Evolution deck. I'm not sure it will be better than regular Junk but at least it lets me play it without Tarmogoyf and Lili.
It also looks like a good card for Kiki Chord decks. I'm super excited for the card even though I know it wont be Pod tier.
This card is another thing in the ice
I mean. Outside path, terminate, occasional dreadbore, super occassional bounce spell? Hes a 4 turn death clock. If jund doesnt draw a terminate, its gg
