I'm curious on this a bit, like to know more of the history.
Why were the raids reaching us in the old city, and who was raiding us?
What makes use feel much safer beyond the walls of the city?

The city-state of Exerre was one day very prosperious and strong but waged too many wars at once to gain new lands. Enemies destroyed their army and started to ravage their lands. Our people are now far away from them but they can seek to settle nearby in future.
