Maps - Post 'em if you've got 'em

Last thread archived

Q: I want to make a cool looking map
A: Great, intent is the first step to actually making them

Q: I have no idea how to though, what are some resources?
A: There's a few programs people have mentioned in previous threads, Inkarnate, Photoshop, Gimp, or mspaint. Most people use a combination of image resources, brushes, and general knowledge to create their maps

Q: Is this just for original content?
A: No, it's for maps regardless of where they came from

What's Weird World? Is it an RPG or a comic?

...

...

Most important thing to remember is that it's all on a planet.

Unless it's a flat world.

Several comics.

Someone in the previous thread asked if they could use my Larvik map for their campaign, if you happen to see this go ahead, just tell your group "some cool user made it" and that'll be enough for me

...

Tempted to just steal this and pretty it up for a campaign.

Bumping with a world from one of my favorite sci-fi/fantasy series.

The City of Throne, for a Kill Six Billion Demons game I'm planning. Whipped this up in about 3-4 hours. Cut bits out of the original comic so I could show people the artwork.

Rate?

I have no idea what the fuck this is but I dig it.

Thank, or damn, me later. You have a new favorite universe to read about.

I did. Works fantastically.

Map with climate regions (not labeled, sadly).

And a plain blank version.

Saved these a while back.

Map I was working on for a campaign I'm pretending to be working on.

Needs work.

If you want the coastlines to look a bit more natural, take the subtract tool on low value (1-2), zoom in, and pretend you have parkinson's. Helps with the jagged look.

Decided to add some Rhumblines to my map as well as a new scale in the lower corner

Needs a lot of work. It looks like shit.

Will give a bump with something I personally love a lot.

This is probably a little different than is normal here but I imagine there are a few games out there that could put it to use. If nothing else it has great feel on how maps were made. Shows how much of a real job cartography was.

Die Vecna Die

Uh, user? As nice as that pic is, did you mean to post something else?

Does this count?

...

Looks interesting, can you explain a little more about what I'm seeing?
Also, have something that's basically fanwank but still cool.

>Looks interesting, can you explain a little more about what I'm seeing?
It's a pulsar map. Specifically the same one as on the Pioneer Plaque.

I'm not too sure of the science behind it, but I think it uses 14 pulsars (the dashed lines) as points of reference so that someone could work out the Sun's position relative to the center of the galaxy.

Here's the wikipedia article, they can probably explain it better than me.

Impressive, thanks for sharing that with us!

You'll like this.

I do indeed, thank you.

Starmaps are allowed here as well, right?

Nobody's complained before.

Hey OP, for next thread, I'd recommend adding in AutoREALM for the links.
Admittedly it's old and clunky, but it's not hard to get a handle on it and at least in my experience it's peerless when it comes to creating the base design for large land masses including roads, rivers, etc, before you get to actually drawing it up with a proper image creation tool like Gimp.

Please tell me that the Still Behemoth is to scale.

Is it an actual creature? Some bizarre art project by a Vecna level entity? A petrified Advanced Tarrasque from Dragon Magazine 359?

Damn it, I want to play in this setting just so I can have a character who's life dream is to be the first one to climb onto the damn thing and plant a flag.

This one's nice. A little too brown though, needs some green. And maybe tone down the halo effect on the continent, it looks like it's about to ascend to heaven.

>Medieval Europe >Earth
Still best Map and campaign world! Most detailed and most fluff!

>capital of a continent-spanning empire
>half a dozen houses
>it could have been like pic related if they just hadnt gone for the "whole province" thing
so many years and im still fucking mad

>Screaming Skull Island
>Fields of Foreverrrrrrrrrrr...
>Lightning Swamps
>Angry Engine Reef

This is genuinely the most interesting setting out there
