Dragon Ball Tuffle Quest Z #48

>You are Maple Son-Mahogany, one of two young Tuffle twins thrown at Earth starting in early Dragon Ball by your "father," Dr. Raichi

>"Canon" had already taken a sharp turn from the "norm" when you began, and through your actions, choices, and dialogue, took even further turns from the "norm," and will probably continue to do so

>Stats and dice mechanics are used, and can be explained again as needed

>Let's all try to have some fun, ok?

And a pastebin: pastebin.com/eYQtRbFP

Last time, on Dragon Ball Tuffle Quest Z! You and Bulma analyzed the Ki Container that once belonged to King Piccolo, discovering the process that it uses to actually contain Ki. Next up, you stepped up your own training, learning about Chuu Lee's progress as your own kids and Videl get some training from her. After learning of the Aquma from Beelzebub, you eventually give Gohan and Peppa a special Christmas gift: their first Spells.

The new year. The World Tournament is not too far off now. And with a visit from Raditz, well...

"Vegeta's easily a match for me now." the long-haired Saiyan states grimly. "And it doesn't look like his growth is slowing down. We're still about half your strength, Kakarot, but it wouldn't surprise me if he gets to your level by the end of this year. Maybe sooner."

Goku lets out a soft whistle. "Well, have to give him something, those are some good results."

Your daughter has a clearly determined look on her face as she listens to Raditz, then looks to you with a slight, protective tinge of worry. You ruffle her hair softly as Gohan sits by his uncle curiously. Raditz looks to you and continues, "I can tell that you're doing well with your own training, Maple. But do you think you'll be able to face him when the time comes?"

>A. Of course! Champ has to defend her title, after all
>B. If he's getting that strong, strength alone won't be enough to beat him. I'll rely on skills
>C. I don't care if I win or lose at this point, just so long as it's a fair fight
>D. Something else?

>If he's getting that strong, strength alone won't be enough to beat him. I'll rely on skills.

Hi Kato.

>D. Something else?
I've fought stronger foes all my life. Why should this match be any different?

>He wants to beat me. My goal is to not let him beat me. I just need to not lose. That's how I'll win.

>>A. Of course! Champ has to defend her title, after all
But
>>B. If he's getting that strong, strength alone won't be enough to beat him. I'll rely on skills

>A
>B
Hi mom

Let's go!

>B. If he's getting that strong, strength alone won't be enough to beat him. I'll rely on skills

There's always been a huge strength difference between Maple's opponents and herself. But through magic, techniques, and some thinking, she's been able to give a good showing.

Vegeta likes to overthink thinks and stresses out on that.

Anyway we can force him to be overwhelmed with trying to cover so many loose ends?

>B. If he's getting that strong, strength alone won't be enough to beat him. I'll rely on skills

Actually, adding to this:
>D. Something else?
> ...But still, we should be prepared just in case of a loss. Let's try to figure out the info he wants to know about saiyan transformation, so he doesn't demand to burn a wish. Looking into the future or alternate timeliness should help.

>B. If he's getting that strong, strength alone won't be enough to beat him. I'll rely on skills

Too bad we can't apeify him to limit his power, I mean it would work but he'd certainly cry foul. And if our luck he'd go golden oozaru or something.

You tell Raditz with a confident smile, "Of course! Champ has to defend her title, after all."

"We'll see if you can keep it this time, Maple." Goku says with a cocky smirk.

You ruffle his hair now, then turn back to Raditz. "Look, I've fought foes stronger than me all my life, Raditz. Including my monkey boy here. But this-" you point to your head, "-has helped me overcome the odds. This won't be much different, no matter how strong he's gotten. I'll rely on things beyond just my strength. I don't intend to lose a fight against him. I'm in it to win."

He blinks twice at you... and starts laughing. "Hahahaa! As much as Vegeta would hate to admit it, that's the kind of strength of will a Saiyan respects. I'm reminded again why you and my brother are such a good fit."

Goku smiles cheekily at that. "Eheh! She's right though. I hope to see her in the finals again."

Raditz chuckles. "Confident, are we Kakarot? Can't blame you. Still... Maple, what training do you have set up next?"

>A. I want a rematch with Turles, to see how far I've come
>B. I want to try my hand against Freeza, solo
>C. I'd like to see Planet Brench again, when Cooler and Kind Cold arrived
>D. Something else?

>>A.
Best option. Also
>>D. See if we can learn the MP Buster from Piccolo before tournament, really did a number against Turles back then. Would have worked if he didn't steal a senzu

Hello anons. My prediction yesterday turned out to be correct, good thing I put this off until today.

I wanna try to face Slug if also possible. I wanna know more about Super Namekians as well.

"I want a rematch with Turles, to see how far I've come." you state in a determined tone. "The Pendulum Room would be a good place to judge that. Maybe face Slug too, if that's possible."

The long-haired Saiyan rubs his chin. "Hrmn. You only barely lived through the encounter last time, so it is a fair point."

"Can I come?" Peppa asks you.

You pet her hair gently. "Not this time sweetie. When you get older."

"Aww..." she mumbles.

You then think back to the battle. "Actually... Piccolo's MP Buster would be a great skill to learn, now that I think about it. I'll have to keep that in mind for later."

"Oooh, smart one, Maple!" Goku comments. "Vegeta won't expect that."

>A. Go for Piccolo first, see how long it takes for you to learn it
>B. Head to the Lookout, you're ready to face Turles
>C. Put it off for a while, focus on the kids some, try to get some more techniques down first
>D. Something else?

Pick one.

>A. Go for Piccolo first, see how long it takes for you to learn it

This would be very useful to use in the pendulum room.

>A. Go for Piccolo first, see how long it takes for you to learn it

So if a person knows about the pendulum room beforehand and we come in and replay an event with that person, does that simulated person suddenly realized their just a mental illusion and reality no longer matters because there in a fictitious mental illusion?

Writing...

Before you head to the Pendulum Room, you meet up with Piccolo again, and ask him if you can Equivalent Exchange for the MP Buster. He actually laughs at that, and states he's figured out a technique of your own, and has been working on it a good deal since he learned it. In a way, he owes you one. You ask what technique it is, but Piccolo states it's going to have to be a surprise.

The MP Buster is a very interesting Magical skill, but it's harder to actually perform than you thought initially. It takes a decent chunk of energy to use, but you manage it. Piccolo gives you a warning with it, though; while it can sap an opponent of their energy, they wouldn't suffer any loss of strength from it. It would limit their options, but not cripple them. Bringing up your idea of fighting Turles again, Piccolo seems slightly uncomfortable, but notes that it would be a good idea to test your new skill out.

Finally, after talking with Trip and Kami about it, you're given permission to use the Pendulum Room. Light swirls around you as it happens. You appear where the ruined Tree of Might stood, and...

"Super Saiyan or not, you're going to fail, Turles!"

Piccolo. And there's Turles, kicking you to the ground.

It's time.

These

So Samma Vaca + Mp Buster should sap someone like Turles but the vaca part won't effect Vegeta as much as it would for our mighty fruit eating friend.

We should probably get a lunar siren up to empower Piccolo and a Samma Ajiva for support.

All right, roll me 1d20, best of five. DC is 13.

Well, still passed.

S'okay.

I'm happy we passed.

Have a guitar godzilla.

You let your power surge with a roar of "RAIO-TEN!" While Turles is distracted, you catch, well, yourself before you hit the ground. She's confused initially, but you give a wink and jolt a quick telepathic explanation. She nods, heading off to the fruit as you match your outfit to hers. You bring up the Spirit Bits, readying them, but leaving them behind.

Right as Turles is about to attack Piccolo, you bolt up to the Super Saiyan and slam your fist into his gut, following it up with a shout of "PHANTOM SHOTGUN!"

"That was quick." Piccolo notes, slightly surprised. "Had a spare Senzu lying around? And... wait a minute, your power-"

"Less chatting, more surviving!" you tell him, facing Turles.

"Tch. You just don't know when to quit." the Super Saiyan grunts, readying himself. "You two are nothing compared to my power!"

That's where he's wrong. While he probably clocks in at over 40 million, you're not too far behind him. And you haven't used the Kaio-ken yet...

>A. Lightning Machinegun Punch!
>B. Lunar Siren, boost Piccolo!
>C. Energy Attack!

You form a ball of Ki in your palm, then try to fling it up, but Turles charges up and slaps it to the ground. "OH NO YOU DON'T! NONE OF THOSE TRICKS WILL WORK ON ME!" Well, there goes the Lunar Siren idea. Piccolo stretches his arm at Turles, trying to grab hold of him, only for Turles to grab Piccolo's arm instead, flinging him into the distance. He's about to give chase...

...when you kick him right in the jaw. "Your fight's here, Turles."

The Super Saiyan recovers, and prepares to attack you, only for a flurry of your fists, charged and filled with Lightning to, to start pummeling him. You stop, and he tries to move, only to find himself severely stunned. "W-what is this!?"

"Just the start, Turles!" you state confidently. He's completely open!

>A. Denjin Kamehameha!

All right, writing...

Shouldn't we be fighting Frieza to get up to Vegeta's level? I wonder if we could borrow his soul via King Kai for a bit?

Well, yes but I feel if we work our way up successfully with Turles, then Slug then facing Frieza should be our final test.

If we actually do well then Cooler and Cold can be bonuses.

The PTO remind me of the bad guys from Hobo with a Shotgun

"Gotta say, Turles, starting to feel a bit bad for you. Plans foiled, tree ruined, teammates gone, tail missing, and all you have to show for it is the new 'do. But hey, maybe you've earned a freebie." you tell the Saiyan with a cocky smirk on your face.

"YOU BITCH!" he roars, finally breaking out of the stun and trying to charge at you.

Before he can realize it, you're already in his face. "On second thought, maybe I should... change the future!" You blast him with a Phantom Shotgun, and then another, bolting him down to the ground. You follow it up with a hard kick as he lands, then flip back.

Turles clutches his gut, standing. "You... how did you get this strong?!" A bolt of rage seems to enter his eyes. "You... YOU ATE ONE OF THE FRUIT, DIDN'T YOU?!"
