Pathfinder General /pfg/

Friendly reminder to tell us what 3pp your game allows if you need character building help.

Someone wanted snakes last thread! What are the best ways to play snek in DSPfinder? DSP has THREE snake races: ophiduan, sthein, and alafia. And Paizo has nagaji and vishkanya. Which is your favorite snek?

No user, you are the monstergirl

Fuck You OP

How do I make the best dreige Scarlet Throne OD/ZS warder? What should I take?

Has pathfinder really gone full weeb?

These threads seem to be nothing but monster girl spam.

I've been trying to curb the onslaught, but it might be too far gone

You're not the only one. I think it's a minority that just likes to scream and be obnoxious to make themselves look like the majority.

That's just /pfg/ being crap like it has been for a long time now.

It's a few people with no life posting the images because it gets people mad.

It's shitposters spurred on by bloodforge infusions. Thefactthat we haven't had a dungeon meshi OP is stupid, since that would be far better than the shitty monstergirl OPs we keep having.

have we just stopped giving a shit about the thread op or something?

What's wrong with Ssalarn? Akasha is just fine, you just have to know the right builds to make with it.

What's wrong with Frank and K? They've written some great stuff. Just look at the initiator and the incarnum users they've written for 3.5. They're supposed to be low tier 2.

>Akasha is just fine, you just have to know the right builds to make with it.
Pretty sure that's precisely the problem with it. The brilliance of initiators is that you can looks at it and without knowledge of any specific builds, easily make a character that's competent if not actually good.

But there ARE trap options for initiators.

What do you guys think of Mummy's Mask? Anyone play through it? Play in it? Run it?

I'm about to start my Mummy's Mask game back up after a year and a half hiatus and I wonder if anyone has any insights.

Nee to 3pp, what would those be?

Anybody have links to any of these roil dancer, legendary kineticists, occult archetypes, everyman options: kineticists, or childhood adventures? I can't seem to find any of them online or in the archives, any help would be appreciated especially with the expensive things since money is tight.

>childhood adventures

You sure about this?

>want to be a zenko kitsune inquisitor archer
>-2 Strength

How should I fix this, /pfg/? Should I just be a garuda aasimar kitsune?

Just eat the -2 Str; most of your damage will come from bane anyway.

By far the least important, I really only want it to check out an infusion and a talent.

But isn't the +2 Strength important if I'm getting tons of attacks with Rapid Shot and Manyshot?

Doesn't seem like a zenko kitsune has much over a garuda aasimar...

There's no way that artist doesn't draw furry porn.

game set in not-Asia
>eastern weapons are still exotic
>western weapons don't exist
I don't know how to tell my GM he's a retard without making it obvious

He actually does have furry porn commissions open on his site, iirc.

+1 damage per hit, user. At high levels your damage, assuming all shots hit, will be 6 less than someone with higher Strength. That's negligible if you're building right.

Hey does anyone have a PDF for Pathfinder Adventure Path #109: In Search of Sanity (Strange Aeons 1 of 6)? It just came out.

I do. I am in the process of cleaning mine. Also doesn't it come out tommorrow?

It's today.

>mfw

Oh, nevermind it is tomorrow.

Why isn't tier 1-only mythic Pathfinder used more often as one of those demigod games like Exalted, Nobilis, Godbound, and Gods of the Fall?

>start everyone at level 5
>arcanist, cleric, druid, shaman, witch, and wizard only
>mythic tier 1
>archmage and hierophant paths only

Voile, a demigod game! You can pull bullshit spells out of your ass with your default path abilities, and you can even grant spells. You don't even need 3pp like DSP to do this.

Initiators are 80% easy, 10% work and maybe 10% trap options
Akasha is 50% work, 45% trap options, and 0% easy. The last 5% goes to, I dunno, Armory of the Conquerer or something.

There's new Kitsune options on the Bloodforge: Infusions playtest google doc that includes a kitsune type that is particularly more vicious that has +2 Str, but -2 con.

Akasha is also fodder for dipping via Shape Veil.

Any unarmed character wants Forcestrike Knuckles.
The Robe of the Forgotten Deity is good defense for any character.
A Solar Wind (cold)-user can pick up Shape Veil (Frostbite Halo) and Extra Essence for +3 damage and 15 points of ignored cold resistance.
A character with Powerful Build can take Shape Veil (Armory of the Conqueror), Extra Essence, and Akashic Catalysts +1 to bring a Large greatsword from 3d6 to 6d6 damage.

The aegis can acquire tremendous customization from veils, including Constitution-based attack and damage from a Crimson Totem.
A warlord (veiled lord) can also gain a Crimson Totem right from 1st-level, and then a Robe of the Forgotten Deity at 6th-level.

Non-veilweavers make better use of the best of the veils than actual veilweavers.

Because everyone hates mythic and people are too self involved in shilling their own special snowflake 3PP books.

Vishkanya.

Venomous bite and beautiful dancing.

Guide to identifying DSP writers:

>Is it Ultimate Psionics or earlier
Andreas and/or the other DSP boss

>Is it intuitive and cool, with mechanics that sidestep the feel and precedent of 1pp to just get its intended job done in the simplest effective way
>Bonus: Does it have to do with pain and suffering and other strong emotions despite not being CHA
Gareth

>Is it fresh and crazy with its concept and also paired with unique but solid and succinct set of mechanics that back it up, leading to something that feels very different from most other things
>Bonus: Is it an anime reference and does it have puns in its name
Forrest

>Is it solid and reliable but not necessarily that exciting
>Bonus: Probably martial
Elric
Mithral Current was his best work in Expanded, despite sheathing feat tax

>Is it math
Psybomb

>Is it much more traditionalist, fitting with the expected breadth of conceptual tone as 1pp
ErrantX

>Is it super complex and difficult to make good unless you have a required amount of system mastery
Ssalarn

>Is it 50 pages long but still somehow good
That new Goetic writer guy

>Is it LotW and not Elric
Keledrath Sorry you need to work on more stuff to get your style known

>harbinger
>intuitive and cool

Yeah, nah. "Build your character THIS way or fuck you."

Fuck man, harbingers are an abstract kind of hell to build.

Harbingers almost literally work out of the box.

If you're having trouble with a harbinger it's because you're trying very hard to fit a square peg into a round hole.

Nagaji and Vishkanya and very specifically two-legged scalykin people. Haven't seen the others, but when I built a monstergirl-style Lamia for funs and shits I used a Merfolk with the Strong Tail racial trait.

Of course, this is also unreasonable, because Merfolk have such giant bonuses to their ability scores.

How strong would these two classes be in Pathfinder?

>If you're having trouble with a harbinger it's because you're trying trying to build it in the wrong way.
That was his whole point.

Frank and K tend to be the "right, but huge assholes" type of person.

wait what? why?

"Other DSP boss" is Jeremy (he's Bossman: 'Murrica Edition); Goetic Writer Guy is Dragoonwraith.

So like 2hu then?

Let's not start this, please.

Kinda, but frank is a legit doctor or something, and has a lot more of the "I'm a better person than you" asshole factor and less of the "i'm autistic" asshole factor.

I really prefer 2hu honestly. Both post really good content though.

>2hu
>content
2hu's written nothing for Pathfinder, no homebrew, no 3pp, fucking nothing.

In fact he went to /pfg/ to cry about his SoP contract, begged us to write shit for him, bitched out at us when we righteously refused to, went on a shitfit, broke his contract, and sent all of the SoP writers into chaos.

That's why Keledrath isn't working with SoP any more and jumped ship to DSP.

>People say that the warpriest is one of the best credit-to-team classes
>Human warpriest gets 100 feats
>I have no idea how to build a martial at all.
Help?

>2hu's written nothing for Pathfinder, no homebrew, no 3pp, fucking nothing.
He has posted builds.

Also why do you care so much?

>best credit-to-team classes
>2 skill points in heavy armor
Maybe not out of combat...

>healing
>6th level cleric
>not a pussy when shit needs to be beat on

Builds are cancerous walls of text that do nothing. They only work in a vacuum with a retarded doormat GM whose fights are all in a whiteroom. They're dumbass theorycrafting that never work in a real game.

They're also fucking long to read. Cancer on /pfg/.

>healing
You mean someone spamming Silver Crane or a wand?

>I can't make a good ally support build with Barbarian so it's unintuitive and lame
>I can't make a good heavy armor melee wizard so it's unintuitive and lame
>I can't make a good holy magic blaster paladin so etc etc

It's not a good point.

>cancerous
>only work in a vacuum
>whiteroom
>theorycrafting
>real game
>cancer
jesus

>long to read
christ

Ah, so you're just an idiot. Carry on, then.

Thank you for the words! We were pretty excited that empath and zeitgeists were only 14 pages in layout (admittedly, sans art). I'm hoping to get the goetic more under control, too.

>That's why Keledrath isn't working with SoP any more and jumped ship to DSP.

Popping in to disprove this again: Elric picked me up for Lords of the Wild about 3 months before I signed on to DDS, and I only left the Spheres about a month or two ago purely due to writer's block.

>person hating on 2hu
What is going on in this...
>Said person is mouth-breathing retard
Oh. Ok. As you were.

>That's why Keledrath isn't working with SoP any more and jumped ship to DSP.

No, it isn't. He only stopped working for DDS recently because of his commitments to DPS, and he still interacts with the writers and provides input.

Builds ARE just whiteroom theorycrafting.

Broseph, we don't demand exclusivity from our writers. Keledrath can have as many lovers employers as he feels like.

>He only stopped working for DDS recently because of his commitments to DPS
He plays damage dealers exclusively and builds initiators to be alpha strikers?

Depends what you want to do. Vital Strike builds are fun and viable, and they generally take up some feats so you won't be swimming in them. Arsenal Chaplain with Gorum's Divine Fighting Technique works pretty well.

On the other hand, archer builds are always going to shit out damage, and use up a lot of feats. Point-Blank Shot, Deadly Aim, Precise Shot, Rapid Shot, Manyshot, Cluster Shots, and now you're 6 feats down.

No, I have commitments to keep my DPS alive via heals and mad tanking skillz

This got a lot of laughs in our chat, though I have a COUPLE of claims besides background math. Steelforge items and almost everything Akashic not by Ssalarn (including a veil in the original).

Vital strike is BAB gated, and the warpriest only has a 3/4 BAB. Is it still a good idea?

My last character was an archer so I don't want to do more archery.

>find out GM is amenable to trying out gestalt
>but not for the campaign he's running right now, or the forseeable future, because more players are joining
>if not for that, he said it'd be fun to rebuild characters for it in our currant campaign.
>tfw so close yet so far, but maybe someday if I'm lucky

So how's everyone else's games been going, /pfg/? Anything Fun happening?

When have builds been useful for anything BUT whiteroom theorycrafting?

Just give it up.

Whiteroom theorycrafting is a buzzword.

How long have you been on this site, and you still haven't learned that trying to stop anyone here from doing something only makes them do it that much harder?

Divine Favor exists to make Warpriest full bab

Sure, but not for feat pre-reques.

Bonus feats to rescue?

What part of "highly mobile skirmisher class" do you find so difficult to understand?

Is it the best idea? Probably not. It's viable though.

Maybe an intimidation build? Power Attack, Hurtful, Cornugon Smash. If you want to go unarmed, add Boar Style and Boar Ferocity.

On the other hand, if you're okay with ranged being ranged, but looking for something other than a bow, I can say from experience that Startoss Style is fun.

I'd like to note that Gareth did Psionics Augmented: Wilders, so, uh
>Does it have to do with pain and suffering and other strong emotions despite being CHA

>Whiteroom theorycrafting is a buzzword.

It's a buzzword that professional RPG writers on RPG.net use.

"buzzwords" is a term that ORIGINATED in describing a professional behaviour, yo

Oh shit son! THATS RIGHT

The arsenal champion gets rid of my second blessing, but i get weapon training. I was planning on taking the war domain anyways. I've never played a fighter, so i'm wondering if weapon training is worth it?

If Gareth had designed the wilders from the ground up he'd probably make them wis-based and say it's because the ability to effectively channel your emotions comes from a proper understanding of when to unleash them and psychic enervation would be a will save so you also need good wisdom for that and other things

Only half kidding

It's an excuse to say "It's not broken, the math doesn't matter, only actual play experience matters except when we choose to ignore it."

Remember that, especially in the RPG industry, "professional" just means you're paid to do something. It doesn't mean you're actually GOOD at it.

Nah, they'd still be Cha based; they're beating you to death with their issues, possibly while swearing in multiple languages.

Enervation would die in a fucking hole where it belongs though.

>Sslarn
I've been in this shit since early 3.5, and even I have trouble building shit for content Sslarn has made. It's like a fucking rubix cube made out of gelatinous cubes.

Are you saying that Wilders should be intelligence-based because they need high int to know enough languages to swear in?

>pazio writers make 35k a year
>the top tier writers in the industry make less than middle management at a retail chain
Is this why our game is shit?

whole point of arsenal champion is to abuse the stuff in weapon master's handbook
only reason for having weapon training
check em out

Weapon Training is great. Scaling attack and damage bonuses throughout your whole career is nice, but the WMH is incredible. Gloves of Dueling are expensive, but also provide a nice boost.

Normal people have moved from PF to other systems. Only weebs and charop autists remain.

I'd play with the weebs and the Veeky Forums autists before I play with the normies.

War already provides me with a swift action for +1/2 level on damage. Divine favor + Fate's favored is a nice scaling bonus to attack and damage on a swift action too. Sacred weapon/armor is another swift action for some + attack/damage/armor

If i go weapon training and gloves of dueling this will start to get crazy very fast.

No please. I just want to pretend this is some kind of elaborate hoax.

>You can get AWT stuff via feats, so long as you have Weapon Training
>Arsenal Chaplain gets weapon training
>the AC can just take a feat to get their scaling damage dice back, no problem
Is there an actual downside to going AC over base warpriest?

Don't we all, I still want all the other books though.

You only get one blessing, and blessing are incredibly powerful.

Want a swift-action cast of summon monster? Well AC can't get it.

There's a "Lamia Commoner" PF race in Kobold Quarterly #23 that's basically a monstergirl-style snake species, and its stats - although not the racial feats, class variants, favored classes, etc - are up on 1d4chan on the "Lamia" page.

>other systems
well not really
PF still sits at like 30% "market share" when it comes to mainstream
